  • Frog, I am 4 ft 11 ins, so a midget but never been much lower than 8 stone, the Wii Fit does that at the end of every weight in, gives you an ‘ideal’ weight and BMI. BMI of 25 will be my goal but not worked that out to weight yet. One day…. My current goal is to get out of obese category.

I’ve started the Palouse online mindfulness free online training. One of the videos today was the Raisin meditation (didn’t have a raisin but after watching did something similar with a snap pea pod …. good!)

But that lead me to watch a few other mindful eating videos …. http://palousemindfulness.com/selfguidedMBSR_week1.html under videos one click lead to another and i found these interesting

TEDxChandler – Michelle May – Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat

My conclusion is that we have totally lost touch with our bodies telling us why we eat, what our body is telling us about what nutrition it needs, what our body is telling us about when to stop.
How we eat is important as well …. are we distracted, eating automatically and from habit …. eating for emotional reasons. And food only temporarily comforts our emotions …. and what does the body do when we give it food that it doesn’t need?

I think of the 8 weeks as retraining us to listen to our bodies. When we are stabalized …. with blood sugar, weight, fat on our internal organs …. we will be at a point where we can make conscious decisions about the why, what, how etc. and really feed our bodies and ourselves and then Eating what you love and loving what you eat?

    Comments???
Do you have some favorite videos???

  • Thanks apatch, yep definitely a lesson learnt! I thought I had more will power hehe! Was surprised how ill I felt all night really after a surge of sugar.
Oh brilliant, yep me too, I’m thinking will be easier using the recipe book for weekend, so I can cook for everyone, just add potatoes/pasta etc for others.
Ah that’s very interesting, yes I think it was bit limited in BSD book too. As I have no idea what my carb consumptions been, just weighed things out and followed the recipe.

  • Congrats Mrs Snoop! I’m starting again (week 9 for me) on Monday too (after a naughty week off-plan!) It is interesting to see what ‘normal’ people eat and realise that that was us not so long ago! Good on your OH for wanting to join our merry band – my OH (who would benefit from a little weight loss) is keen but not yet committed enough to give up his daily bread.

  • Ooh random good luck with the house move! It’s one of those really stressful things isn’t it, but always worth it in the end. Hmm I guess if it were me in your situation I’d try have lots little tupperwares of bits you know can grab and eat easily…in a bag for life or something separate to all the other boxes, like nuts, hummous, veg sticks, chicken & couscous. Few bottles water, maybe flask of tea/coffee. As you don’t get to stop let alone cook on moving day! By time you’re in at end of the day and door is closed, its feet up for cuppa and bed hehe! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m a married mum of two, my daughters nearly 2 (where’s that gone?!) and my sons 6, before the children I was always a healthy weight and slim without much weight thought or exercise. I had gestational diabetes with both pregnancies, one diet controlled other injecting insulin, and my weights gone up steadily ever since. I’m currently in the highest prediabetic range and one reading diabetic. (Need two in diabetic range to be diagnosed) I want to avoid type 2 for as long as I can. My grandmother was type 1. My other nan was type 2, both sadly died with serious diabetes related complications. I’m only 32 and thought diabetes would happen in 30 years time not now with two young children. I’m 30% higher to get it from having gestational, so I really want to stick to this way of eating in the long run. The med diet has been great and tasty and once not doing 800cals be easier to sustain long term I think. I have about 2 stone to loose I think.

  • Victorir – what a great learning experience to see the effect that sugar is having on you already ๐Ÿ™‚

Recipe book was literally delivered to me at work 5 mins ago! Very excited to have in time for the weekend and I’m definitely going to check out the thai red curry also. I notice that the recipes break down the nutrition per serve too – calories, carbs, fat, protein etc – something I felt was missing from the recipes provided in the BSD book. Hopefully that will help with keeping track of the carb consumption each day…

  • Hello to all the newest people to have joined! It’s definitely a great mood booster having this friendly group to catch up on and see how everyone’s finding it. Not long until we are in the second week…whoop whoop!
I haven’t weighed myself since weds, will do it on Monday morning… massive well done to all the brilliant weight losses, it’s really positive to be seeing such results already.
I had a major set back last night… my husband came home from working abroad with sweets, my son was delighted! I thought I would be able to resist but ended up eating loads of sweeties! I felt sick and had the worst night sleep yet! It was silly of me, I guess the only good thing is, it has shown me how my body reacts now to sugar! So it’s put me right off doing that again.
I also pick up a copy of the recipe book today, will try the red Thai chicken too. ๐Ÿ˜Š As all the family can eat it, perfect!

I have watched the Panorama prog and already made comments on another thread, so so sad.

What I would say is that it is not our fault that we have been unable to control our illness with diet, which yes we are always told to do. No one told us what to eat or what not to eat so we went on diet after diet and failed like everyone else does. When we have been given dietary advice it has been so so wrong – eat low fat, low calorie foods (synthetic) and get plenty of carbs. I saw the doctor on the programme say you should start the day with cereal and have a wholemeal roll sandwich for lunch, the emphasis being that these are good carbs, along with rice and pasta, even better if you eat brown pasta etc etc. We have heard it all before and it is still the traditional advice. This is not just damaging to diabetics but to the population as a whole who are becoming more and more overweight.

I don’t know how I found this diet, I had been seeing pop ups on Facebook and clicked onto long videos about diet and you knew they were going to try to sell you something at the end. As it turns out their ideas were pretty much the same as BSD but were American videos and selling books or courses which I could not access, whick led me to looking for something UK based, then I found Dr M. I am sure I was totally sceptical but thought, ยฃ3.99 for a book, how can I lose. But I did lose, I lost weight and gained better health. Long may this diet prosper and grow and hopefully become traditional treatment for obesity and diabetes and many other illnesses.

  • Thanks Randam ๐Ÿ™‚

I hadn’t introduced myself either…I’m a 38 year old single mum to an 8 year old boy. I’m not diabetic or pre-diabetic as far as I know, but my maternal grandmother was T2 diabetic, my dad is T2 diabetic and my younger sister was diagnosed as prediabetic. I’m 5ft 3 and ~12st (76kg) and realised recently that I am technically in the “obese” range, if you go by BMI (only slightly over BMI of 30). My weight has crept up over the last couple of years.

Though, if I’m to go down to what is supposedly considered the top end of my healthy weight range (64kg), that’s actually less than I have ever been able to sustain for any period since high school. Similarly to Randam, I don’t want to be superskinny either (I never have been and I wouldn’t be able to sustain it either). Compared to my sisters, I’m naturally actually quite a curvy shape, but I’d just like to be a healthy sz 12 and feel as though I have more energy than I do now.

Also, I’ve been completely hooked on carbs since forever and I have tried a few times to kick the carb habit (without success) over the last few years. Though when I look back, I realise that I’ve been under a lot of personal stress for a really long time (settling down these days, hopefully), so I think I just wasn’t in the right head space to really take this on with any real chance of success – I like that Michael Mosley emphasises that aspect of the process in his book and I’m only really realising now how this applies to me (even while I write this post). I’m not going to give myself any more grief for not being able to do this until now ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Hi Verano – well done with your blood sugars, that’s great
Krysia – colleague with the clothes is now a size 10, and confident she will never be “that big” again – she does manage to say it in a way that isn’t condescending when I’m all “whew, more size 16 clothes that fit this week”
I’ll pass them on to Smart Works when they are too big for me!

Well done Sunshine Girl – amused at the idea of being told off by your wiifit. Why does it think you want a BMI of 22? I will be delirious when mine gets to 25!!!
I had FatSecret’s error message of “that’s a big weight loss, are you sure” today – I think they have a really simple algorithm – in fact so simple its not an algorithm, probably just weight loss divided by the number of days since you last submitted a weight multiplied by 7!

Having said that, I just took a look at my BMI again
their website gives the formula for calculating BMI of
“divide your weight in kilograms (kg) by your height in metres (m)
then divide the answer by your height again to get your BMI”

Doing that, my BMI comes out at 30!! (well 30.1, but nearly overweight!)
Using the NHS calculator, which additionally asks your height and gender, it comes out with a BMI of 32.7
    Interesting! difference is nearly 9%
    dual BMI mini goals!

    Thanks for the responses.
Sorry, I should have given a UOM for the BG. 130 is mg/dl. Hoping to get it down to 100 or less. Highs 2 hours after a meal have been as high as 219, even on low carb. I must be sneaking carbs in somehow.
This morning FBG is 134. I’m preparing for the diet, will keep you all posted.

  • Hi Flash – had the same in weeks 2&3. But then it steadied and kept going down. I finished (my first!) 8 weeks at the end of last month. I have been away (and eaten far too much) so will be starting the next official 8 weeks on Monday (back on it already and feeling better for it). I have a few social/eating encounters to negotiate but intend to be very strict and lose another 2 stones – it’s my birthday in early December and I hope to be celebrating in size 12 clothes! I have a scales addiction too and I can’t see that changing EVER! I need the pressure!

  • First week down. I’m not diabetic, but with my family history and weight could end up that way if I don’t make these changes.
    Week one loss 9.2 lbs/ 4.18 kg
Goal for this week, continue 800, and increase steps to 7000/d. Wondering how low need to keep carbs for this to continue to work? Know that will inevitably will slow down this week.

Hi Jim as a motivator you should see results in your blood glucose within a few days and in 2 weeks should be well on the way to being within a near normal range. I’m not sure what 130 is – is that 7.2 which is quite good anyway or is that the scale of 10 so 130 is 13. All these different measurements can be confusing. Mine was 190 (10.5) and by day 5 135 and 2 weeks later 105 and now between 75 and 110 (4.1 and 5.8).

Another way to judge how you are doing is to measure yourself before. you should lose quite a bit from your waist in the first 2 weeks, showing a change to your belly fat. If you hit a plateau around week 2 or 3, that is normal. Your body needs time to readjust and the loss will come back. This is not the time to give up.

Good luck and keep on keeping on.

  • Majormummy- keep going… we’ve nearly done a week now xx
    And Mixnmatch- go you!…

    Hi Cara and Meftl
    Welcome!!

Apatch… that IS impressive… baking and no eating!… I really don’t have that will power!

I so know what you mean about being more aware of ingredients now… I moved onto sparkling water to keep my hunger at bay-
But I’ve just learned that it has 11 times more salt than still water…
Salt triggers my tinnitus and I wondered why my ears had been ringing all week!! … now I know!

Scales today showed a 2lb loss from yesterday so that was the 1lb gain plus an extra 1lb off.
Making my total loss 6lb since Monday.

I realised too that I hadn’t introduced myself and really should seeing as we are all getting along so well.
I’m 45 single mum.. to my 20 yr old son who is now away at Uni. I work full time too
I’ve been on every diet there is- with varying levels of success ..
I’m not prediabetic… but my mum was T2 diabetic and I don’t want to be!
And I’ve piled on the pounds again – I’m 5ft 7 and at the start of the week was 14st 10.
I’d like to lose 2 stone …to get back to a Uk size 12
I don’t want to be skinny.. as I can’t maintain it

What attracted me to this diet was exactly as others have said… I think it’s a real lifestyle change and I can just increase portions etc (and have wine again! ๐Ÿท๐Ÿท ) once I achieve my goal

So… I have a biggie next week… I move house on Weds …I’m determined to stick to the diet.. I just need to be super organised
If you have any ideas- let me know

This forum is brilliant and will help me through my house move !

Also, Hillybob, are you having enough salt?

Because we’re drinking so much fluid, this flushes out the salt from the system and lack of sodium will certainly cause feelings of light-headedness.

It might be worthwhile doing the following

    a) adding more salt to your food
    b) drinking Miso soup or
    c) having a drink made of a stock cube in boiling water.

Dr MM mentions this in the BSD book, but it’s easily overlooked.

    Hope that helps ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Jim,
It’s daunting starting out on something that will bring about major changes in your life. The early days can be the hardest (weeks 2-3 seem to be hardest – just read other people’s posts) but stick with it. Drink plenty of water – dehydration can fool you into thinking you need food. Plan your meals. Stick with the foodstuffs recommended. A lot of people have been very diligent and counted calories & carbs (I haven’t but I still saw weight loss).

If you do ever feel you are hitting a brick wall and the weight’s not coming off, think about whether you are feeling better, are clothes feeling a bit looser? Our bodies react in different ways, sometimes slower than we would like, but persevere. There are plenty of people on this forum who are more than willing to pass on the benefit of their experience.

Above all, this is a very flexible regime so you can adapt it to what suits you best.
    Best wishes!

    Hi,
I’ve been BSD-ing for most of this year (to good effect) – I haven’t followed the menu plans at all. Rather I chose to dip into the recipes – some appealed more than others, but I have tried a few things that I previously would have shied away from. Some people like to stick diligently to the plan because it helps them to stick with it but in reality it is whatever works best for you. I haven’t counted a calorie, I figured if I cut out the junk I was eating, and stuck to the foodstuffs recommended in the BSD then I wouldn’t go too far wrong. I just wanted to make it as easy as possible to follow, even though my weight loss has been slower than many people’s. That is the beauty of this regime, you can tweak it to what suits you.

  • Struggling here too Major Mummy, feeling hungry. I used to eat really large portion sizes, needing the feeling of being really really full (probably an emotional thing), so it’s taking a while to get used to lower carbs and less food overall. I imagine it could take a while for me. Though I’m still hungry much of the time, I’m not quite so hungry as I thought I would be. Just trying to keep busy and keep the fluids up, I’m having lots of nice herbal teas which I think is helping.

On the plus side, I managed to get through a night of baking last night (for work) without taking even a single bite, so I was pretty happy with the old will power ๐Ÿ™‚

Also, I’m really feeling as though I’ve learnt a lot already in only 4 days about food and what is in the food I’m eating, carbs, calories, nutrition, portion size etc. I’m finding the meal planning is really helping (I’m usually terrible at meal planning and tend to waste a lot of food that goes uncooked and thrown away etc), so I’m finding that being so focussed lends to much more sustainable living (for me). Gotta keep reminding myself of all these extra little positives ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi again

I’ve been quiet this week because work has been incredibly awful and very frustrating BUT on the plus side I have made time every day except yesterday to cook BSD friendly proper meals. Usually when work gets demanding the first thing that goes by the wayside is any time for me so I’m really pleased I haven’t let this happen so far.

I started on 1st but couldn’t weigh myself because the battery in the scales was dead. I did measure myself the same way Dona Rosa did ie. with the tape measure loose rather than breathing in and pulling it tight. Since I replaced the scales battery on Monday I have lost 2.4kg and having measured myself I’ve lost 2in off my bust and 2in off my hips. My waist hasn’t changed though. Very bizarre given that this diet is meant to target abdominal fat. If it continues this way I’ll end up with a very odd body shape! I have hypothyroidism, does anyone know if that has any effect on where you lose weight from?

    Conclusion so far? Something’s working!

  • Today I will be eating 720 calories and 23 carbs, that includes all meals and snacks.

My weight is 74 kg so I have lost 0.3 since Tuesday which is, in old money 2 thirds of a pound. Hey but look, I have hit 74 and I have just done a calc of my goal weight and I have exactly 2 stone to lose, 28 lbs or just over 12 kgs.

    Blood glucose 4.9 or 89 – perfect.

I have just done 30 mins HipHopAbs with Shaun T (gorgeous man) and freaked out my Wii Fit. It didn’t recognise me because I have not been on for about 64 days and I have lost about 5kg since then. Then it had the cheek to look at my weight and BMI and said you have taken your time reaching your goal but congratulations ta da. I only told it I wanted to lose 1kg in a month, such as were my expectations back then. Then it told me I am obese at BMI 31.9 and to reach 22 I need to lose another 24 kg. No chance, that will make me 7 stone 3lbs – never. So that is me well and truly told off.

Talking about buying clothes when we are in an intermin weight state. I am not proud and have just bought 3 pairs of treggings, tres moderne with a jaquard pattern, so to go with them I have bought 3 part sleeved tee shirts. Trousers at โ‚ฌ12 each and t’s at โ‚ฌ3. Who cares if I have to throw them away at the end of this autumn/winter season. When I lived in England I was in quite a posh area and used to buy a lot of my clothes from the charity shops. Not quite gucci or versace but deffo Van Dalh shoes and Jacques Vert shirts and I still have a lovely 100% wool Otterburn Tweed jacket (which I have been too big for). Nothing costing more than ยฃ5 each.

    Have a good day all.

    Good morning everyone,

ButterflyMoves I would check with doc about the meds. Can’t imagine how difficult it is to do this away from home. Keep it up, every time you refuse wine & chocolate is a victory.
Day 6 for me. I bought myself a new weighing scales yesterday as a reward. Unfortunately I’ve put on weight on the new scales. What a head wreck! Old scales says I’m down 5lb, a lb a day, so I’m taking that. Amazing.
Planned on having the no carb Bircher for breakfast, had the raisins steeped in apple juice since last night but didn’t realise that yogurt only lasts 3 days once opened so had to go in the bin. These are the things I need to get my head around, the planning & prepping & reading the labels. I spend so much time looking after everyone that I forget about myself. Jewelling a pepper doesn’t seem important when kids & grandchild are calling. I’m sticking at this though and I will be posting here in 8 weeks(7 weeks now!!!) Checking in here keeps me on track.
I want to feel better, I want to look better and I want to get that buggy up the hill without stopping. (I used to run up that hill one time)
Wishing you all love, strength & willpower today,
    NeNe xxx

  • Am back, an honest woman after 35 years! Anyway, food was totally disastrous. No access to kitchen, so ate out three meals a day for the last five days. Dread standing on the scales. Will get back into the swing of things over the weekend and weigh in on Monday. Looking forward to rejoining you all. OH, now husband but will continue calling him OH, is definitely up for joining in. The pair of us feel a bit poisoned after these last few days, if the truth be told.

The documentary sounds as if it was interesting. Certainly got a debate going, and that has to be good. Tabletalk, you sound like you’ve made some positive changes in your family. Sounds like we’re all going to make good missionaries. Is anyone else reading Lucia’s thread? She’s doing a brilliant job of encouraging people. OK. Off to bed. Didn’t get home till 5 am and am now flagging. But wanted to check in and say hello.

    Good morning folks.

I am going out for lunch today so I have decided not to have breakfast. I have not eaten since 5pm last night!
Hopefully going to have salad, lime and soda to drink and no starter or pudding. Had plenty of water to drink today.
Dinner tonight for hubby will be a portion of lamb tagine (made for last nights dinner) and either miso soup or butternut squash and pepper soup for me. Weigh day is tomorrow but I have been on the scales this morning and have lost 6lbs. Really want it to be seven tomorrow.

  • In the section After 8 weeks” … in the 2 week review, 4 week review, etc. it suggest that you might consider going on 5:2 and getting a doctor check up.
I think people here do more than 8 weeks ,,, even take a 5:2 break and then start the 8 weeks again.

I think you should listen to your body and how it feels.

The books doesn’t say you MUST do anything.

And if you can get a doctor to send you for a few of the tests all the better.

I am getting some tests and will keep in touch about my diabetes and general health …. i can get the results of the tests … i can even listen to what the doctor says … ๐Ÿ™‚ but i’m still going to listen to my body and make my own decisions.

Well done everyone for reaching your mini goals.

My new mini goal is to lose 2lb which will get me to 9 stone 13 1/2lb.

My friend is over this morning and I have been trying on clothes -trying to decide what to get rid of. We ended up laughing hysterically when I tried on my lovely leather coat. It looked so huge everywhere – massive shoulders – sleeves almost to finger-tips. My friend said I said I looked like a scare crow. I can’t bring myself to take it to the charity shop. Maybe I will keep it as a reminder of how much I’ve lost.

  • Hurrah! That errant pound has disappeared again. Still going against efforts to not weigh every day but I will try to hold off from now until Tuesday morning. Has anyone else experienced a big loss in week 1, little to nothing in week 2 and then more loss in the following weeks? I’m worried I managed to lose 10lbs and now my body is saying haha, no more weight loss for you….

  • So many of us are continuing on the 800 Fast, I for one am on week 15 with no back effects except to continue reducing my blood sugar and still got a bit of weight to go (8kg). Read the threads for 8 week rerun, and the reboot and now we are on pick a carbs getting a weekly goal as well as continuing the 800 calorie low carbs. So nearly at the end of my second 8 weeks run and still losing steadily.

That does not mean that it would hurt to have a break from the really strict diet and swap to say the 5:2 or the med for a few weeks but not quite so likely to be still losing weight. I have found that for blood glucose it is the low carbs that are important and I can afford a few more calories, say for a special weekend, and not do any harm to my bloods.

Welcome to the thread/group Sadie, I hope you can benefit and can be of benefit to us newbies๐Ÿ˜‰

So day 5 for me and still really buzzing, not experienced the dreaded carb flu yet and hopefully won’t. I did feel weak this morning and normally skip breakfast, but 30 minutes of hiit training last night forced me to have something.

So stepped on the scales this morning and I am ecstatic 6.1lbs gone. Now I appreciate this is likely a large portion of water but it still feels great and I still have 2 days to go for this week. This sort of loss will no doubt decrease in the coming weeks but I am committed to the 8 week plan, I need to inspire my prediabetic wife to join me ๐Ÿ˜€

Best of luck to everyone for the weekend as I know it can be a challenge, but hopefully with morale support here and determination we can all get through it together

    Dear Carb_Addict
Please, I hope not to offend you, but might you consider a change of name. Carb_Addict would appear to be reenforcing who/what you don’t want to be. What about a more positive name? You’re a star, sparkle.

  • Hi there, I’m a wee bit confused as the book and this site says to do the fasting until you reach your goal blood sugar and weight levels. In truth I have about 50-60kg to lose all up, and while I’m doing really well so far losing 5.9kg in just under 4 weeks, I’m obviously going to be nowhere near the weight loss targets for me personally at the end of 8 weeks.

Do we have to stop at 8 weeks and then move on to something else? I’m actually not really struggling with the food limits so far, and there are still loads of the recipes I want to try out after the 8 weeks is up, so just trying to get my head around what happens after 8 weeks for me to best continue the momentum I’ve already started.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated ๐Ÿ™‚

    Cheers, Anne

    The 1st October Starters Group.

I hope that you don’t mind if I hover in your group. I started on 1st June and have been very happy with ditching the carbs. I have made great progress for me after years of trying and failing to eat the low fat way.
At the moment my daily calorie intake has increased. I will pull that back and the enthusiasm of the newbies should help me.
Start weight Christmas 2015 was around 13st 7lb and now around 11st 2.

Christmas is once again just around the corner.
    Enjoy your day, regards Sandie.

  • Mixnmatch – 12 bin bags full of clothes no longer fitting is a huge achievement. Frog – you are so lucky that your colleague will lend you some interim clothes as you are not likely to be needing them very long before you fit into smaller sizes.

Did our weekly supermarket shop this morning – husband commented how quick the shop is now we miss out most of the aisles. Also, we are still a bit stunned at how much lower the bill is compared to pre BSD. At least the savings will go towards some new clothes.

Verano – really good b/s. Actually it does mean a huge jump forward because, with b/s at that level, it means the dawn phenomenon is no longer messing up your morning readings. Now you are getting a true fasting b/s.

Loopylou – well done for getting to a new level. We are all doing so well.

It is so good to hear that we are all adapting the BSD to fit in with our lives – which means that we will be able to continue losing weight and then move onto a successful maintenance. Reading your posts gives me lots of idea.

Carbs yesterday 23 calories 808. 3/4lb down on the scales. Today we are having a lovely prawn curry made with a Spice Tailor sauce.

  • Wahey, well done MixnMatch! Really chuffed for you.
Thanks Adelski – don’t worry with the same weight, probably a big drop on its way.

Struggling this morning (day 5) as just feel sooooo hungry (I thought this was meant to pass on day 2/3?!). Sigh. I could honestly eat a small child and wash it down with a litre of coke…. But I know that wouldn’t be very good on lots of levels.

Going round to a friends this evening for supper so I’ve decided to have one meal ‘off’ (they’re cooking pizza for the children, how can I decline that?!) so have to be extra good today to make up for it. Also made an appointment to see the Dr to get more accurate readings on my blood sugar and cholesterol levels. I’m hoping the home kits are lying!! However, 2kgs lost in 4 days so I’m feeling much better and it’s very motivating knowing I’m really going to do it this time. Will be reading this thread to help with the support – thanks Guys!

My current weigh ins are a celebration. I weigh 11st 2, or 1 or 11st and have even had one weigh in at 10st 13lb. I have learnt that for a while I hover in a weight range and that is up and down by two or three pounds over the week and is nothing to worry about. Soon the range will be in the high 10st ‘s now that is something to look forward to.
If I had been going to a slimming club with weekly weighing s I would be shamed at “that’s another pound on”, ” What have you been eating?” “You must see me at the end of class so we can discuss where you are going wrong”.
It is normal to weigh within a small range. I celebrate that I don’t weigh around 13st 7lb like I did Christmas 2015.
This Christmas, 2016, I will be in a range that starts with 10st.

I won’t listen to my OH and his nasty (he thinks they are funny) comments. When I told him that I am 11st 2lb today he said, ” Well you had better go and get all those clothes of yours back from the charity shop”. Sometimes I just hate how he can say stuff without consideration. Why couldn’t he just have told me that being in the low 11 stone suits me or comment on how much I am enjoying having shaply dresses to wear.

I have been buying some brightly coloured dresses from eBay and they show off my shape in a very flattering way. I (think) look like a younger woman. I am healthly although I have a wonky hip.

I have told my OH that what he said about getting my clothes back hurt me but I don’t think that he ‘gets it’. Maybe it is just that Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus thing. Maybe he is just thoughtless.

On consideration I know that he is thoughtless but I don’t understand why.

Hi Gyllb, believe me it will most definitely pass. I watched my husband eat a French bread sandwich which is my favourite bread. I actually didn’t even want a nibble. The less carbs you have the less you will want or desire๐Ÿ™‚

Can anyone help me please? I am on day 19 of the eight week programme, doing really well. My last weigh in on Tuesday I had lost 9lbs. I am feeling fabulous generally, I manage between 10,000 and 15,000 steps a day. My problem is first thing in the morning. I can hardly stand up and feel as if I am going to faint. I have been taking my blood pressure is usually really good, but first thing in the morning it has been very low 96/69. Does anyone have any tips for helping me with this please?

    Many thanks.

  • Thanks for that advice Cowslip! I didn’t link cravings as a sign of a higher carb count but it does seem as though that is the case as I had a little blip the other night with a higher carb dinner than usual. I will try to bring my carbs back down for the rest of this week (next “official” weigh in is Tuesday) and will see what impact that has.

KJ – I think the keto calculator sets you on the right track if you’re not sure how to break down your 800 cals in the right proportions (if that makes sense!). As the typical carb limit for this way of eating is around 50g (although some people do go down to about 25-30g) then you’ve already got one macro to put into the calculator and it works out the remaining recommended quantities of protein and fat to go along with it. MFP does essentially the same thing, but after you’ve put in what you’ve eaten. With the other calculator you can figure out your macros before you start meal planning etc. Having said that, I don’t tend to us MFP that much and instead am manually tracking carbs, cals and food the old fashioned way! You’re obviously on the right track being another 3lbs down and clothes fitting better so keep going!

Anewday – glad to hear your blood sugars are going down as well as the weight! Hope you had a good set of measurements.

Lifeafter50 – well done on your weight loss too! And great work with the exercises. I haven’t been doing any of the exercises yet because I have some pretty serious back problems but knee pushups and 15 sec planks sound great to me!

Lucia you were resently talking writing about your salads and how you like to make then a bit more exofic with fruit etc. Have your tried leeks? I wash then chop in very thin rings then add them to my tossed leaf salad and then top with half a dozen grapes which I have cut in half. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Tasty.
Have you had any unusual breakfasts since following the BSD?
Enjoy your day Lucia. warm regards Sandie
