Cecily you can have a little bit of cheese. But I know that isn’t enough when you want to eat and eat. Just keep hanging on if you can. You’ll be glad later.

I had to look up “jeggings” and I’m not sure I know the difference from jeans. I must say I’ve never believed in tights as outerwear, but if you feel good you probably look good. Whatever makes you feel skinny!

Avila, I am so glad that you kept that dog! I do so remember a wonderful dog we had about 40 years ago when we were young and poor and probably thin. We were entertaining and had laid out cheese and nibbles on our little undercover back deck. Unfortunately down too low!. What was a hunk of cheese to a dog that used to catch the Manly ferry over to Sydney – Circular quay – by himself. We must have all been much less regulated in those days because we could not keep him in our tiny semi-detached garden. He would go over 6 foot walls and he was not huge, just a medium sized mutt. We lost him a a shopping centre once and found him 10 days later. He had been living on a patch of bush – bandicoots perhaps – but a kind couple had fed him for the last 2 days and contacted us. He was pleased to see us.

Yowzer, I forgot about mash, fortunately. I used the recipe out of ‘Pie in the Sky’ for garlic mash and it is fantastic if I say so myself. I love buttered toast also. Maybe next year!

Lost a centimetre off my waist and neck, and 3cm off my hips this week.

Had a pub lunch with friends today – decided just to go low carb and forget about the calories. Thankfully they had run out of Yorkshire puddings!

Having done that I feel like I’d really like to get three really good days under my belt before my next meal out on Thursday.

I’m a way off wearing a size 12 but am clearly going to have to get myself some jeggings to celebrate that milestone when (not if!) it happens!

2000 calories and 100g carbs today 🙂 Didn’t eat anything terrible per se, just went overboard on soya beans and raw nuts which massively hiked up both counts. Funny how a big bowl of edamame is now my idea of a blow-out…

    I shall atone tomorrow!

I was going through my draws and found the random Jeggings I brought at some mysterious time. Decided they look smart yet casual enough for the conference meeting over next couple of days, now just need an event worthy of the little black dress from charity shop that was hopeful a few years ago. I also tried on the ‘bargain’ a bit-different-for-me dress that I brought 4 years ago, that was hopeful then (I was going to lose weight) and still has tags on. I could fit it on and zip it up – not yet comfy but fitting.

Hi nbrown – you sound just like me when I started. I have always lost weight slowly and found every other diet too much work to sustain over a long period. The really good news is that you’ve lost half a stone in three weeks! If you were in a standard slimming club they’d be applauding you and I applaud you 👏👏👏

Some people on here have an amazing weight loss over a short period but others like me still see a consistent loss week after week even though it’s on a far lower scale. My average weight loss is .5kg – 1kg per week but that works for me, I can fit this way of eating into my everyday life (once I got the hang of it) and I genuinely feel and look like a new person. I have lost 13kg over 13 weeks and am so happy with that. Don’t get hung up on other people’s numbers, we are all different but all following the same journey. The very best of luck and onwards and downwards 😊

Been on the diet approx 3 weeks and only lost half a stone! Going through the menopause so probably not helping!
Did the chicken Harrisa tonight but not sure if I did it right as in you eat a handful of flat leaf parsley and mint too, found it too much in a raw state. Is it just me lol

    Day 21.
I’m starving. I’m so sick of all the exceptionally healthy things I’ve been eating, especially soup, and I’m about ready to stab my family members who all have crisps, biscuits, 2 homemade cakes and other nice things.
    I’m in a FOUL mood.
I want cheese. Mountains of cheese. And wine and crisps and carbohydrates
    Not a good day

I’ve joined the jeggings party too today 😀 I’ve been practically living in my jeans as well, I think the novelty will wear off soon.

  • Started to make the courgette and pumpkin muffins and looked at reviews for advice on the quantity of water. Used 200g peeled courgette, 450 ml water, 2 tsp mixed spice, apple juice instead of orange juice and put the mix into small sweet cases ( 48 small muffins). Baked them at Gas Mark 6/7 for 25 mins and then turned them upside down for 10 mins. The texture is very different to cakes or biscuits and as I like coconut, they are fine. For me, two are enough with some tea (85 cals). Hoping they will freeze OK.

I’m 2 weeks off completing cycle 2 of BSD and i have deffo slowed down a lot. Have lost three stone in less than 14 weeks tho, which i’ m more than happy with, and i’m hoping to do one more cycle ..but if the weight loss continues to be a very slow lb here and there,, i might 5:2 ,even if only one week,to remind my body that hey we want better results than that! Good Morning Sun-shines (even though it’s raining here).

Thanks to all for your support! I hear you about the Balls We Shall Not Mention, Just be glad you don’t have a store right below your office (that also makes shakes and hot chocolate).

Yesterday I went into the city and met friends for dinner and a Zombie movie (The Rezort – REALLY fun, like Jurassic Park w/Zombies) and stuck to the diet, although I don’t think I got enough water in.

Weigh-in today… Down 3.6lbs! So happy that Tuesday didn’t mess me up as much as it could have!

Hope you all enjoy what is left of the weekend! I’m off on another adventure with Dad, this time to a mall. The excitement never ends.

    Cheers,

    Deb

Hi! Glad I’ve some company here!

Lynne … yes will continue BSD but think I may take a few weeks doing 5:2. I think that maybe my body needs a bit of mixing up food wise. I am starting to think that staying low for too long stops me losing and a few weeks of more calories may help to kick start when I go lower again!!!!!

Who knows!! But will keep eating this way … I love it!

Hello all, I’m new to the group. I bought the BSD books after speaking to a colleague who is looking for rapid weight loss.
She got me thinking about the BSD and after doing an online assessment it’s hit home that I have ALL the risk factors for diabetes. It’s time now for me to get my act together, lose weight, eat more healthily and be more active.
I’m looking forward to being part of this community and being with others who share the same goals.

I think that’s right although I am new myself but any drinks without milk and sugar should be OK I do find that too much tea on an emptier stomach can cause a bit of nausea though I am a real tea pot so probably should cut back myself. Good luck.

Hello welcome I just joined too and am South Walian. I am one week in and 7 pounds down it definitely works. Must try those wraps I just tried the lettuce taco wraps as feeling very hungry (pre chicken korma later) and they are surprisingly filling and the taste was wonderful. I am savouring every mouthful of food now, the portions are about a third of what I would have normally have, hubbie has lost 2 pounds as well, although he doesn’t need to- must watch that- just made him flapjacks – clean and healthy recipe but will resist those myself ( I hope!)good luck at least we are taking control of food and
    that feels good

Aaaah – maybe she was hungry, or just wanted to compliment your cooking Avila?
Well at least she enjoyed it and finished it all!
Froglet is actually pretty good about not stealing things from the kitchen, but I do get cross when she takes something and can’t be bothered to eat it – well, not for long, she does her “aren’t I beautiful stretches and wriggles” until she gets a cuddle.

For me, pasta, rice and potatoes garner no interest whatsoever, but bread and cakes still tick the right boxes – but as long as I can stay in a place where I have them in very modest amounts without them giving me the urge to stuff them uncontrollably, I’m not too worried.

I came home from work at lunchtime ready to reheat the other portion from last nights meal – I know I should have boxed in into the fridge but lazy and kitchen cold anyway. But after getting the dog’s breakfast I forgot to shut her out of the kitchen. Would love to have a video as she must have reached to the back of the hob to pull the frying pan forward and licked it clean! So lunch was plan B !!

Reading all of this thread is really inspirational, people are so positive. My next mini goal is to get down to 68 kilos in 2 weeks and to plan all my meals for next week, I feel positive and diet going well even though am in early stages, only less than a week! But have planned all the meals for next week, so that way there will be no temptation and straying!

  • Am feeling good today, feel very proud I didn’t just go for the nearest easiest snack for my lunch, I was starving but I made the time to make myself the avocado and feta snack, which is good and I feel full. Having he book on the kitchen counter means I don’t stray. I weighed myself this morning and I lost 500gms since I started a few days ago. I think the weekends are going to be hardest, not drinking a glass with my partner or having a small chocolate. No exercise today apart from a long walk with our sausage dog. Made a list of all the meals for this coming week – I think being prepared and planning in advance will make it easier to stick to the diet.

Had a great walk with my sausage dog and other sausage dog owners, made me laugh for 1 1/2 hours!
The sun is shining and Autumn is glorious – and I gathered Sweet chestnuts to make jam for Christmas.
I was starving when I came back form lunch but I stuck to the diet and made the avo and feta with lime juice and I feel better 🙂

We also had an over calorie day yesterday by about 150 because of bad planning! I had bought pulled pork meat to roast for supper from M & S that was way over calories because of the fat in it but hadn’t looked at the calories when buying it😳 We ate it with steamed green beans & carrots so not too bad carb wise & I did pull off any extra fat I saw before serving it. Lesson learnt not all meat will fit into 800 calories if you also eat slightly extra at lunch as well, my stupid egg white omelette that worked out to be also higher calorie than I had anticipated!
Well a safer roast chicken today with roast cauliflower & ratatouille for lunch & houmous with celery, carrot & red pepper crudités for supper.
It is our day 14 weigh in tomorrow & my husbands bloods are stable staying around 5/6 so fingers crossed!
Congratulations on all of you for sticking with it👍👍👍

Well this morning featured toast -yes- of the bread kind, with butter. Boy was it nice too.
Cause: gin and tonics last night while at a party (few too many…)
Conclusion: all will power goes the morning after and carb craves appear!
    Result: enjoyed toast. Move on.

    Oh – must try harder!

    Hi Natalie

It sounds like you have a plan, a clear goal and motivation, which is a great starting position. Like you I am aiming to lose 30% of my starting weight, but starting from nearly 150kg. I’m 10 weeks in today and have lost just over 13%, despite a couple of ‘lapses ‘ on holiday, so the journey is underway. Over the last week my weight has fluctuated around the same level but I’ve lost an inch and a half off my waist so I’m guessing it’s just my body adjusting to the new reality.

Keeping my eye on the long-term prize is helping me, the short term goals are just milestones on the road.

I rather like a paperback Turkish vegetarian dishes in 30 minutes or less book that was given away with a magazine. Although not strictly low carb and without the macros and nutrition it is certainly Mediterranean influence and most of the recipes look very tasty if unpronounceable. I will be trying to adapt some of the more carby dishes to the low carb style.

  • Hi Natalie.

I think it is quite common as a first name in Italy.

Maddalena is from Bassilicata in the south of Italy, but her husband, Antonio, is from Parma in the north. It’s interesting to see the cultural differences 😃

At the moment they live in Cremona, but also have a holiday/retirement apartment in Torre Pellice, near the border with France.

It all makes for interesting visits – and I love going😃
