    Good afternoon.
Sunny I was looking at hydroponic methods for growing orchids and just wondering if you have done that with orchids in bloom? I have one that I would like to change to hydroponic but it’s in bloom. I have another hydroponic plant that my daughter bought for Mother’s Day. I just find them so much easier to look after. All my other plants are in self watering pots!

Pootle how lovely to have a new puppy and new wipers and chocolate!

I’ve been a bit low lately and one result is a mountain, growing by the day, of ironing. So my first positive today is that I have made a dent in the ‘mountain’!
My blossom tree is in full bloom now.
I have an option on a late autumn cruise, just not sure about the weather in the Med in November but anyway something positive to think about.

Hope you day was full of positives.

Firstly, well done on bumping us on to a new page of positives, Verano.
In answer to the orchid question, putting them into hydroponics is new to me, but yes, I have one in bloom that I’ve just converted. I can’t really say yet how any of them will fair, as it’s only been in the last week that I’ve swapped them over … sorry not to be more helpful.

Anyway, here are a few positives….
🌼🌼 yesterday was sunny and I was able to get out and do some gardening
🌼🌼 found out a new neighbour is a gardener by profession and she has agreed to look after my garden while we’re away
🌼🌼 more organisation for our road trip completed and OH has serviced the car and replaced parts in preparation for the drive

Have a wonderful Easter weekend everyone and if you have a moment, please share a positive with us.

Quick drop in to post a few positives….
🌸🌸 all garden chores I wanted to do before we go away have been completed
🌸🌸 I have shingles, nitbin itself a positive of course, but was able to get an appointment and now have meds, which are already helping
🌸🌸 packing pretty much done, just last minute things to go in tomorrow
What positives have come your way?

    So my positives……
☀️🌈🌤️ A mixed bag of weather today but the sun is shining now!
🥦🫒🍅 Managing to stick to two meals a day at the moment so I’m really pleased about that.
🧺🧳🧺 Almost caught up with my washing. So now I a start to think about packing!

Hope you can find some positives too!

Just thought I would post here today, not just to bring it back to the top, but as there are over 6800 posts, which probably makes it the longest thread, it would be really, really sad for it to disappear!

So……🌳🌷🌿 My garden is blossoming! Apple blossom has been lush this year. My white lilac is in bloom. A red acer that I thought was dying because it didn’t lose all its leaves last winter is looking magnificent. So all looking really lovely.

🧺🧳📚 Washing and ironing all done. Clothes ready to be packed into their ‘pods’, toiletries, pills and make-up all gathered together so everything is ready to just pack.

👩🏻✂️🪮 Hair cut and coloured with ‘highlights’. So after pedicure tomorrow I’ll be ‘holiday’ ready!

If you have any positives, and I’m sure we all had at least one ‘positive’ today, please post. Let’s not let this thread disappear into the ‘ether’.

Thank-you for hiking the positives thread up the listing again, Verano. Hope you have a wonderful holiday.
I’ve been remiss is not posting for so long, so here are a few from me ….
🌷🌷 good road trip to Turkiye and for once not a single ‘duff’ hotel amongst our overnight stays
🌷🌷 catching up with old friends this weekend
🌷🌷 appointment made to have my hair coloured next week
Will try to make a point to drop in more frequently with more positives, but hopefully others will post too

Thought it about time I posted some positives again and bumped the positives thread up the list. Still in Turkiye and these are the high points that easily spring to mind ….
🌻🌻 was panicked by my Dad having an emergency visit to the hospital, but so grateful that my son and daughter in law stepped in to make sure he had support
🌻🌻 bought a succulent and cactus to go into the rockery area I intend creating here
🌻🌻 visiting with some Turkish friends for breakfast and a catch up on news

Hope to see others posting a positive or two here soon.

I am posting today because this subject has gone so far down under the scam and advertising posts it was getting totally lost. So my positives for today are:e

reported around 25 scam posts – hoping to see lots more genuine posts
doing well on my Fast500 paid for plan in my 7 day trial
having lunch in the garden every day – before it gets a bit colder again.

    Hi Sg,
I just wanted to pop on to say well done for reporting all of the advertising, it’s becoming ridiculous. I haven’t posted on positives for ages but will start trying to remember to. Here are a few for today:
I turn 60 tomorrow and weigh lighter than I did at the start of the year so am happy about that.
Some nice presents have been arriving in the post:)
Once tomorrow (and a few treats) are over with I feel in a positive frame of mind to continue the Fast800
online plan which I started off well on but which I haven’t made the most of!

    Hi ADD, happy birthday.

What do I have as positives today

lost more weight on the paid Fast800 site
Bought 6 courgette plants – hopefully at least 3 will survive as is normal
Raining so cant plant out courgettes but my tomatoes are getting a lovely drink

Putting this back to the top

    Positives are:-
Eye test today and everything is fine. They keep trying to find something wrong with me but at least I am being looked after.
Doing well on paid for Fast800 and not feeling hungry as I did when I tried to get back into the BSD after the holiday. Maybe because it is costing me money and I am being monitored – although by a computer programme not an individual person.
Did 20 mins of resistance training. This programme doesnt bother with aerobics as maintaining muscle mass is more important when on low cal.

    Keep on posting.

🌸🌸 Dad doing well again and is starting to get out and about now
🌸🌸 have started to move things into our villa, should be moving in, in about ten days time

Lost 3.5lbs and 1 inch on the Fast800
Not planted courgettes out yet but they are doing fine – prefer to lose 2 or 3 or will be living on courgettes in summer

The positives, If I comment on this thread it will push at least 5 scams down a few levels. My positives today

Pool has reached 20 degrees, so only 4 more before I swim
Heat wave, but not sure that is so positive – 35 degrees by Saturday, that used to be heat wave weather, now seems to be pretty normal
Enjoying following the Fast800 paid for diet – chicken with balsamic and cherry tomatoes for dinner.

Had my first swim of the season yesterday
Now lost 4.5lbs on the paid diet. Not going to do the exercises as I am swimming which is enough.

WOW I really hadn’t realised that I’ve not posted here for over a month. So I apologise because it would be so sad for this thread to disappear. Thank you s-g for keeping it close to the top.

    So three positives….

My first and foremost is that I’ve actually now totally recovered from a double episode of the auto immune disease I have.

I guess my second is that our travel insurance actually agreed to cover our extra hotel accommodation and flight change costs despite the fact that I didn’t see a doctor. There would have been no point really because a GP would have had no idea what to do!

My number three is that I’ve had my first day home when I’ve just eaten ‘healthily’. So onwards and upwards… day 2 tomorrow!

Hope everyone has at least one positive to relish today.

    Positives

Finally some welcome rain and my tomatoes, courgettes and geraniums are doing great.
Hopefully sold the house, fingers crossed the buyer gets all their stuff in order.
Daughter is super excited at the prospect of having us back and already making plans for me to join the gym and start a weight training course – she will end up killing me. 🙂

S-g we also have some rain but not sure it’s appreciated quite as much as yours!
Good to hear your house news and hopefully you’ll be back in the UK ‘pumping’ your muscles sooner rather than later.

So here today we’ve had sun, high wind and rain in various amounts throughout the day … bring back the sunshine!

Tomorrow is hair cut and colour so really looking forward to that. I find my hair gets to a certain length, not too long, but then just grows outwards! Just on the cusp at the moment.

Well day 3 of my new regime and all well so far. Just trying to make my 2lb a week goal…. looks possible for this week …. fingers crossed … and mouth shut!

Hope there are some positives out there?

No news on the house sale is good news, the longer we wait to hear means things are going good – they are at the bank this coming week.
Lost my 1kg a month for May/June so doing okay – worked out 9kgs to Xmas is 20lbs so not too bad taking it slowly.

This thread is exactly 10 years old today!
    🎈🎉🪅🥂
    Happy Birthday!!!
    🥂🎉🎊🪅

My 10th BSD birthday is also coming up as is sunshine-girls!
Can’t believe that I’ve been lower (can’t say ‘low’) carb for so many years. I think just getting rid of processed food as much as possible is where the real bonus of this way of eating is.

It would be really sad now to see one of the original threads disappearing into the ether.
Maybe we could just try and keep it going for just a little longer?

    So, my positives ….

🦠🩺🦠 Coughing and sneezing for almost a week now but at last I think I’ve turned the corner! Feeling much better today.

🥗🌶️🥒 First day back on track with my journal. I’ve found looking back on the odd few times, here and there, that I’ve ‘journaled’ that there is a definite pattern emerging. So, I’m going to keep ‘journalling’ to see if that helps me stay on the straight and narrow!

🏡🌲🪵 Garden spruced and outside walls refreshed so all looking good.

Hope you have some positives to help keep this 10 year old thread alive!
Even just one positive is good!

Well observed Verano … hadn’t actually realised this thread had been running for so long. Like you, I’ve been on the low carb path for 10yrs now, although I confess, it has got very flaky recently!!! I’m going to have to refocus on my return to UK and work at returning to target weight.
My apologies for being absent from this important thread, but here are a few recent personal positives ….
🌼🌼 daughter had been approved for a mortgage on the house she has been renting for ten years
🌼🌼 after a 5yr struggle to completion, we have at last moved into our villa in Turkiye … feels very surreal, but loving the quieter location
🌼🌼 have enjoyed the company of good friends visiting from the UK in the last couple of weeks
🌼🌼 two weeks of relaxation left before we start our journey homeward … going to make the most of the good weather during that time
Whatever you have had going on recently, I really hope it has brough plenty of positives your way
… don’t forget, we’d love to read about them if you have time to post.

It was my forum 10th birthday (as a poster anyway, I can’t remember how long I lurked before posting) 2 days ago! 🥂🍒🫐🍓🥝🍾🎉🪅🎊

My Positives are; I had a lovely weekend in Falmouth for the Sea Shanty festival and Classic boats festival which are at the same time. The sun shone, everyone had a great time all three days.

Fundraising is going well, I am ahead of schedule in getting to my target of 60 miles, but will complete the month.

Third positive is although I didn’t get the job I was going for they were very complimentary about me in their feedback.

Sunny so pleased you’ve actually ‘moved in’! Five years … wow… but then it’s much the same in most Meditteranean countries. It must be the heat that slows everything down…. building, workmen, legal stuff etc etc! Glad you can find positives though.

Happy birthday m&m! Falmouth sounds wonderful and having good weather is like having icing on the cake …. Oh! we can’t talk about cakes and definitely not icing!!!

Happy birthday S-g’s grandson. Where does it go? Our eldest grandson was 18 in January. Time just disappears.

I’m scraping the bottom of the barrel here but here goes anyway …

🍅🥒🧀 Managed just one meal so far today.

🌳🌹🪻 Ordered some new planting troughs today. We have three and two are ‘bashed’ by various workmen and the third has a disintegrated middle. I guess everything has a life span and it’s now up for my planters!

That’s it for me today but hope you can find even just one positive. Finding positives really does help to lift the mood.

Not too many positives as we are confined to the house. Here goes –

pool in the garden if I can be ar-ed to swim – it is a bit too hot.
daughter booked to come and see us in September – just her, no-one else wants to come – just too grown up and have their own lives.
Saying that is a positive as they are all well and life if good for them – 20 yr old has a steady job and in final year of apprenticeship, 18 yr old off to Thailand with his Thai friends for a last fling before uni. Received his trust fund and put it all in an ISA – sensible boy – letting us pay for the holiday 🙂

As this is top of the page again I feel bad not adding to it!

🌤️🌤️🌤️ Yes it’s hot hot hot here but also cloudy on and off so really quite oppressive. I haven’t been out for three days!

🥬🍅🍓Tonight I was going to b-b-q but just too warm so I have a spatchcock Korean chicken in the oven which will be lovely with salad.

🌲🌳🌲 My neighbour cut down a huge conifer type tree in the autumn and we now have this huge empty space between her and us and a great loss of privacy. So I’ve just ordered some fast growing jasmine to plant. Unfortunately, we have no soil on our side of the fence so we are experimenting with planters. Fingers crossed the jasmine will thrive?

Hope you have some positives. If you can share them that would be a bonus.

    My positives are ….
🌴🌴 a lovely day of retail therapy with a close friend
🌴🌴 caught up with old friends at the weekend
🌴🌴 new fly screens fitted this morning and a new fan purchased for our bedroom.

We only have a few days left before we begin out road trip home to the UK … bitter/sweet that our stay here is almost done.

High SunnyB, we had 44.3 here in SW France yesterday, forecast for 43 today but might get hotter, so my positives are –

had 30 mins in the pool early but it was still 36 degrees outside – followed by a cold shower.
lucky to be retired and dont have to do anything we dont want to – staying in the house with all the windows and shutters closed.
looking forward to it cooling down tomorrow – top temp should be around 38 degrees.

Hi there, great you have completed Sunny-B. Things take so long in Europe (or even Asia). Our house has been on the market for about 1 year but that is nothing and we are trying to take things as they come but daughter is very impatient. We think it could be another couple of years but we are holding fast.

Verano, shame about the tree. The house we are moving to in UK has 4 large trees and daughter says they take all the light out of the garden. Anyway, jasmine. Little tip, buy 2 – a spring/summer flowering and a winter flowering, you will have sweet smelling jasmine for most of the year.

Positives – lost the monthly 1kg I pledged to – so 2kgs since mid April start. I am pleased with that as it will be 8/9 kgs by Christmas and not much effort.

Cant think of anything else except we are both keeping well and after my exercise test on a bicycle the cardiologist said my heart is strong than it was 2 years ago. I put that down to healthly living, strength training and this diet.

I’m really pleased with myself this week for finally getting back to low carb eating. S-g very impressed with your less than 20 carbs a day…. secret please?

Well three days since I posted and thought I should post again….

So happy to have cool/normal English summer weather back! Never thought I would say this but it’s quite nice to see some grey sky!

Hoping to get my new planters ‘planted up’ tomorrow. We had a wall painted and the existing planters had to be moved. One collapsed! Two have been badly misshapen for the last 5 years from when we had roof work, so great excuse to replace them all.

Waiting to hear from a new gardener, fingers crossed he will ring tomorrow…. we are desperate!!!

Hope you have some positives too.
