Well done on the clothes!
Vegan? Does she know Paltrow??! At the risk of alienating everyone around you (like I did) you could make lentil/veggie cottage pie with cauliflower mash!!

heee heee Jeans of the Future – I love it.
Will need a new pair soon as old ones are either falling apart from wear or a bit stretched looking. If this lifestyle makes the general ordeal of buying a pair of jeans a bit better, bring on the FUTURE :-)))) Jeggings don’t count, these news ones will be proper stiff jeans, unyielding!
-
Well done Trev, I am a returnee… I stayed on for a few weeks and then slipped off it due to work functions and the reintroduction of my evening wine… I have found it easier to say no now as it is easy to be tempted by carbs following. A glass of wine. All the best ! Napangardi

janey – the jeans went on BUT had a massive v at the front and no way were these bad boys going anywhere zipping up!!!! in my defence m’lud these jeans are apair of levis and according to tag inside 32 waist and 30 length so these are teeny tiny jeans !! thats levis for you ! to lager ladies sizes!!!!!
so these are the jeans of the future
( JOTF!!)
trying some other bits on now !!!! -
Yes the forum is motivating indeed! I live in the centre , south Australia in the Clare Valley. Clare is known for its wine. And wet and cold winters!!!! We have had some intense weather of late so am wearying of the cold and rain…as an Australian I try not to complain about rain as we suffer droughts but this winter had been a challenge! My struggle with this eating approach is that I live on my own and when I come home I keep wanting to eat !! Nothing bad in my pantry but i do go over my calories . I just need to keep control of that aspect … How was the day?

Hi guys
I have just started this diet after someone emailed me about Oppo and this diet. I am currently an Intern at Oppo Ice Cream so if you have any questions please ask away!
-
Oh and the Nigella ‘legal’ cake has been consumed!

Morning, Tokyo how are the jeans of the future fitting?? I haven’t dared even get my own pair of JOTF out but maybe I should?? I think they are a 12 masquerading as a 14 so unlikely to ever get into them without the aid of warm spoons and some butter however…
Lucky – add JOTF to your list!
When I put my (formerly fat ladybird) trousers on this morning they seemed bizarrely loose.. maybe hanging out in Paltrow-land (aka Brighton) has magically made me thinner? Well, that and not having much to eat thanks to late night restaurant closures and over-full OH not wanting a proper meal at any point yesterday! Either way, I’m taking it as a win π
Got an M&S voucher for my birthday so might go for a mooch one evening after work.. new clothes!! Yaay!

Hi Potts
Last night in passing I read Ben Greenfield Fitness website on low carb and performance. Interesting stuff you may find helpful. I love the idea of burning fat. Because I am 20 weeks in to this 8 week BSD and doing well, I found some of the info on carb replacement days very interesting. Good advice too on a little salt, and like our plan… lots of H20 hydration.
Glad you have found the feeling of well being, amazing huh? Good luck with the event.
Still tricky for me to get past the guilt of enjoying full fat food, working on it is easy though.

Thanks for the support LACali21 it sounds like your journey has started well. Fingers crossed for good early results to fuel your fire.
Day one for has been pretty good. Have stayed within the 800 calories but think I might have been light on for protein which might come back to haunt me tomorrow.
It certainly pays to keep busy so you don’t have to much thinking time to dwell on it.
Here’s hoping tomorrow goes just as well.
-
Thanks for the support.
I only managed around 1000cals yesterday but I’m not beating myself up over it.
Should be able to hit the 800 cal mark easily today.
I had a protein shake for my breakfast yesterday and it didn’t satiate me at all; this morning I have had a large flat mushroom with an egg and feta cheese inside and that has worked a treat and only 130 cals and 0.7g of carb…winner!

Just finished week 4 and my weight loss is 6 lbs. π , not a fantastic loss but it is a loss. Normally I lose 3 lbs, gain 2 lose 1 etc etc and end up about the same weight as I started. At least on this I have LOST 6 lbs. Blood glucose very good and will be seeing the doctor in 2 weeks.

i have just ordered jaime olivers new cookbook family favourite superfoods i think , i bought the first one last year pre BSD and was very good havent used it whilst doing this but figure when i get where i want to be it will be adaptable to the BSD way !! so looked at the new one and that seems the same style too.

Dear All
I am currently on week 3 of the 8 week process and things are going well, weight loss amazing and a great feeling of well being.
I do however feel quite lethargic and lacking energy which leads me to my question.
The weekend after next I will be participating in an endurance sport and would like to know recommendations and experiences of what to eat for energy and stamina.
Any recommendations as to what to eat the night before and during the day to keep energy levels up,.
Interested to know what affect if any reintroducing my body to carbs and sugars will have!!
Anything to avoid?
Thanks and look forward to hearing your experiences.

Congratulations Happy…that is amazing…celebrating your success with sparkling water!!!

Good for you Athorn223, it sounds like you have found the approach that works for you – keep it up.
I admire anyone who can stick religiously to a diet regime but for me, like you, it’s not a sustainable approach. What you’ve been doing sounds like what I’ve done – it may take a little longer to shed the pounds but I certainly don’t feel like I’m restricting myself and, as a result, I’m more likely to stick with it.
I’m two thirds of the way to my ultimate target (I’ve lost 2st, with another one to go). Just going through a phase of wanting to relax things a bit before I summon up the energy/willpower for the final attack. I know the last phase will probably be slower to shed those final pounds but I’m patient….
Good luck everyone with your efforts.

That’s a fantastic result BabsG – well done! I just started (again) yesterday and it’s very inspiring reading posts like yours π And well done on losing weight while on holiday – I don’t think I’ve ever done that!
-
everyone is having a ” down” day on the scales yippety yip !!!
-
Hello folks I am a newbie I thought I’d introduce myself π I just started yesterday, so far so good, but I am verrrrry tired today, not sure why that is but otherwise feel OK and not hungry which is a plus!
I actually tried this diet a few months ago but had a major wobble, and then fell off the wagon completely. I did well for a couple of weeks though when I did stick to it, so I’m back to try again. If at first you don’t succeed etc (wasn’t that Robert the Bruce and the spider?)
Yesterday’s dinner was sesame salmon from BBC Good Food website, very nice, tonight trying thai green curry and coconut cod. It has to be tasty if I am going to be eating less π
Hope you’re all having a good Tuesday and sending you all good vibes for a positive day π
-
Morning Eps, hope you’re ok today π There you go, that’s your 20K steps from the other day showing now, it doesn’t always happen for our official weigh day does it?
Hahaha that’s priceless, wasting calories on pomegranate. Haven’t had one for years, but I believe you can buy the ‘jewels’ now in bags? My dad used to love them and we’d sit eating them with a sewing needle to get the fruit out. Acceptable in the 80’s. It is a lot easier when you’re not having to cook two meals and watch them eat things you might want yourself.
Need to go into town soon, just having a coffee . Hubby is in smug mode this morning as he’s 0.6 kg down on yesterday too.
-
Great on the baggy clothes too Lucky – you’ll be bridging that v gap very soon!!ππ

Good one Tokyoπππ! ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»
A good morning to you all, first day for OH so have made us breakfast and lunch and dinner planned. This is sooo going to help organising I feel. Great walk last night and scales going down again this morning wahoooo πͺπ½
He s funny, within 10 minutes he had worked out he wouldn’t be wasting his calories on stuff like pomegranate πΉπΉπΉπΉ (I made the jeweled pepper things from the book because I remember thinking they were tasty at the beginning, never did again though – too much choppingπ) -
posted by karenv on Karen's eight week diary – starting today!
on 26 Jul 2016 at 09:52 in Starting the BSDNice use of Irish Daniel I am impressed π (given that my own Irish is minimal and I just remember the words for chips, chocolate and ice cream – all the no nos) π
haha I loved the A team growing up π hopefully my plan does come together, I am hopeful this time around!
Yesterday (my first day) went well. Yoghurt and berries for breakfast, chicken salad (which was a bit bland but OK) for lunch, then sesame chilli salmon with stir fry veg for dinner which was really nice – I used this recipe for the salmon: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/glazed-sesame-salmon (they have a range of 5:2 suitable recipes so worth checking out)
I wasn’t hungry but my big issue has always been more emotional eating – eating for comfort, when upset, bored etc. So it’s my psychological habits I’ll need to work on, to work out what is going on in my head when I reach for something to eat… that will take a bit of work.
Have a good day everyone!
-
Haha, I’ve made a little progress on mine. Managed to pull them up (eventually) and they have ‘the triangle’ shape where both sides of the front veer off in a diagonal away from each other. I’d imagine I’ve got another stone if not more before I can pull them together and zip them up lol. Oh well, I love a challenge π
Am wearing a band T shirt today that is actually now a baggy XXL, as opposed to fitting me like a glove (sticks out in five places) which it was when I bought it. So that’s another plus. I’ve been seeing it more on my bottoms than my tops up to now.
-
Hey Happy Life
That is totally awesome! How are you adjusting to the change do you see yourself as a different person in the mirror?
I have gone down one size so far but maybe add in another half for wearing clothes very snug! What I’m enjoying is still wearing some of these clothes and thinking oh aren’t they baggy now that is a new sensation! Feels so good but hopefully I will get to the point of having to downsize because they will look ridiculous.
The sun is still shining here in the South east and breakfast was on the deck while it lasts.

Thank you! Thank you!
It really helps to have people on the same journey experiencing the same ups and downs! Feeling much brighter today and back on track. My aim today is to have at least1.5 litres of water. I have struggled even with that simple task! I seem to be forgetting to drink, so today I will make a conscious effort to have my full quota.
Thank you again and hope you all have a good day.

I have now officially weighed in after my holiday. In the past three weeks I have lost 2.5lbs making a total in 11 weeks of 1 stone 6 pounds. As I usually gain weight on holiday this is quite a result.
-
we certainly have !!!
i shall be reporting back later on ” the jeans of the future” ( as there is no way no how i am getting in those jeans now !!!) x -
Yes, it can stay there until Friday π hehe.
Ah, that’s the beauty of weighing in kilograms. 5 kg sounds less than 11 lbs π
We’ve got a whole wardrobe of garments now to wear lol π
-
well done Izzy! good to read. Did you watch ‘fixing dad’ on telly? It was inspirational and hankies needed – especially for end credits with photos. I was BAD last week – it was my birthday. Getting back on wagon pronto. Today I find I haven’t got a foodplan which wearies me. I don’t really like spending so much time thinking about what to eat. Getting further with collecting recipes and ingredients – just need a final shove to get a rhythm of a menu up an running. Love hearing about your crafty doings too. I don’t tend to make much in ‘Summer’ but later on will continue learning how to draw Celtic shapes and writing blessings to go with them. I also knit and sew and like photographing nature. Filmed a wee baby coot on a local pond last week cute bundle of fluff. It is a late baby the rest are now bolshie teenagers.

we shall put the blanket away in my cupboard of “in case if emergencies” !!
very pleased going back to thursday weigh ins so may only loose a bit more this week but thats ok i have lost a stone !! which at the start of this i never thought i would !!!!!!!!!!!!!
i dont know why but 5 kg doesnt sound that much really !!!! i have 2 and a bit weeks to hols so if i could just loose have of that before then that would be great !!!
i feel very smug today i am wearing my fab robe of chuffness with my shoes of wonderment !!!!! -
thanks Igorasusual. Now measuring myself is one thing I’m having a problem doing. Just going to have to get my head around the fact that my waist is no longer 26″ (going back many years here!). I have no idea of any of my measurements only that M&S and Next size 16 fit me sometimes loosely and sometimes tightly. Maybe I’ll grit my teeth and find my long hidden tape measure – either that or try on my velvet trousers which I doubt I can get past my kneecaps at the moment. Will let you know when I can get them on (a small size 14). thanks for advice.
-
Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy you got your stone!!!! Well done cupcake! π That’s brilliant, bet you’re over the moon!
Here’s to the next 5 kg, and may it provide more laughs and fewer disasters than the first 6.5 did lol. You could be closer to it again by Thursday/Friday! Your blanket of mardiness is folded up on the chair, I don’t need it today π
-
Good morning everyone
Well had my cheeky mid weeker and i have lost 0.2 kg which is 0.4lb!!!and enough to get me under my first goal of 6.5 kg lost which is 14.33 lb or 1 yes i said 1.02 stone !! woo hoo i reached my first goal in just over five weeks i kicked its ass !!!!!! this fat thing
now as the sat nav says ” recalculating”!!
two next goals first one to loose 5 kg more !! and the next is i have a pair of jeans i used to wear i want to get into these jeans comfortably ( emphasis on the comfortably !!!!!! ) i shall be having a try on on of various outfits later to gauge where i am on the clothes fitting scale and when my next cinderella moment may arrive !!! -
Old lady – don’t focus on the weight, what about the MEASUREMENTS?
Have you measured? Do you have “target’ garments? Often the weight varies or plateaus whilst inches melt away.
Don’t sabotage yourself.
Onwards and downwards! π

Bril work keep going, we will all do it together

Morning ladies, sorry, I was so relaxed I fell asleep last night! π Bathing is the future! (My husband WILL be pleased π )
Poster girls????? You hear that, Janey??? Although, to be fair – with the size of my head, it’d have to be one of those massive posters they put on sides of buildings in City centres…
Sadly, I can’t crochet, Janey. But what I can do to make it seem worse, is knit you a dolly toilet roll holder, and a tea cosy (and egg warmer!) to match your knitted blanket of mardiness??
Well, you’ll be pleased to hear that I’m not going to be whinging today! Lucky has woken up with her big girls knickers on (and – unfortunately, then had to put her actual big knickers on) and is getting on with it. Another 0.1 kg off, which was a surprise considering a dying slug probably covered more ground than I did, yesterday. Just sat with my first coffee of the day, enjoying the silence.
Here’s to (hopefully!) a good day for everyone! Let me know if you had your cheeky mid-weeker, Tokyo!
-
Oh Clarissa that is funny! I wish! I too am going off on holiday for a week to Denmark in August – all those pastries! And whilst I will stay as true to the food principles as I can I can’t expect to stay in 800 calls as it is my sons wedding. I expect to wake up 10 stone heavier overnight, in my nightmares.
Let us know how you get on? Yes I must say, once the quick weight loss of week one has ended, it has been a real surprise to me how little you can lose in a week of eating so little. I gues everyone is different.

Good Morning all π
I weighed in this morning and it’s hovering around 11 st, so I’ll make that my official -1.5 down this week. Hopefully by next week I will be properly established in the 10’s, so I’m still happy. I haven’t measured as my tape measure is in the loft. I might be up there tonight so I’ll bring it down and measure tomorrow. My work trousers are definitely looser anyway.
Raspberry shake for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch. Baked potato for the kids tonight and fajitas for us. I’m going to do home made salsa yum yum. Lettuce wraps for me, normal ones for the lean hubby.
I had a good day at work yesterday and was in the right place at the right time to install some new controls for a customer which is a bit more interesting than what I do most of the time, and had some lovely customers too.
My daughter wants me to make a too small onesie into a summer one with short legs and sleeves so I might have a look at that, she also wants me to make her a cushion, and a bolster cushion, and I have the mermaid tail thing still to do that she doesn’t know about. So many things so little time lol.
Well I got to go, few things I want to do before getting my son up, have a lovely day π

Lost 4kg in the first 2 weeks but 3kg of that in the first week and am weighing myself daily. I’m not sure this is a good thing as some days my weight goes up instead of down. I know weight can change daily but it’s a motivational thing and a pound loss makes me smile and a pound gained makes me miserable. I lose weight slowly (apparently an age thing – boo) and I’m pretty careful on the 800 cals a day (plus multivit). Scales this morning say I’ve put on a pound yesterday so instead of a smiley face I’ve got a sad face. Mad I know but that’s how my brain works but reading all the successful messages on here I’m carrying on for the full 8 weeks regardless.
-
I would think so brrrr. Seafood is good, just can’t sop up the garlicky tomatoey sauce with lots of of Italian style bread – maybe next year (sigh)
-
Reasons to be cheerful
1) the fancy panties I hesitated over buying in the sale fitted!
2) I now weigh 10 stone something. (13 lbs actually)
3) I’ve worked out a low carb buffet menu for my 60th party in a few weeks. -
Morning π
I feel calm and settled.
We’ve finished buying my daughters school uniform – and I’m grateful we can afford what she needs as well as a bit extra.
just the fun stuff to buy now – pencil case, stationery etc
I managed to get up a little sharper this morning. -
Fantastic Happy! Isn’t that a great feeling? 10 sizes down! Wow! πππ
-
thanks for the post. completely forgot about this.
