  • I’ve just clicked into thedietdoctor.com and it came up with F6wellness.com. First page on diet advice, ‘never go below 1200 calories or you will ruin you metabolism…….blah blah blah.

Is the the same diet doctor i.e. Dr Ian Marber because I have his book, a few years old now (2008) so still the old advice but some of the recipes look good, will have another browse.

    Hi bubbles,
I agree with sunshinegirl completely. I’d give my eye teeth for your weight loss figures! 🙂 We all start at different weights so comparisons are not helpful.
I think my weight loss averages at a shade over 1 lb per week (although it’s probably less than that now because, admittedly, I have relaxed things a bit these past few weeks). I started in January, I’ve lost around 30lbs in total (it fluctuates – refer to previous sentence) but would like to lose a bit more in order to achieve my ultimate target. When I get my 2nd wind I’ll knuckle down to it.

Even after all this time, I’m still prone to stuffing my face with things I know I shouldn’t! My mood is a big bad influence, plus I’m a sucker for special offers in the supermarket. Everyone hits a wall in this process.

We shouldn’t fixate on who’s the slowest loser – a loss is a loss, it’s still an achievement. After 13 weeks, your body probably just needs a bit of a breather, then it’ll get back on track. I am sure you will make inroads into that remaining 45kg – it’s not a race, as you yourself said: just keep plugging away at it.
    Keep your chin up!

whoa there bubbles, none of that negativity here. You have lost 20 kg in 13 weeks and you call yourself a slow loser. That is 44 lbs or 3.5 lbs per week, not so shabby. I have only lost 9 lbs in 8 weeks and I am setting off again for another 8 weeks. Would you look at me and my results and say I was a lazy, fat addict, not to my face you wouldn’t. So don’t do it to yourself. You must have changed so much in 44 lbs, look at yourself and see the beauty coming through, pat yourself on the back for having the strength and determination to get as far as you have. And have the will power and self belief to carry on. Big hugs from France.

I expect to see you in the 2nd 8 week thread so I can keep an eye on you.

    Bisous xx

    Hello David,
Good fruits to choose would include berries (strawberries, blueberries, rasps, blackberries), maybe passionfruit
I would try to avoid higher carb fruits such as bananas, apples, melon, peach, nectarine as it increases the carb intake. Unless of course you are having it very low anyway 🙂

  • Hi Piglet

    I find planning everything helps

    Menus, exercise etc

Then work life around it !! (sounds so easy doesn’t it )

However doing ok so far and the meal planning / shopping / eating times is a key for me.

Have skipped /altered 2 meals so not ‘straight jacket’ rigid which helps.

Last week I was up a kilo, today down a kilo so no new weight loss for 2 weeks. I am religiously recording food on myfitnespal and despite being disabled, have tried to be more active. I am 13 weeks in and lost 20kg until last week when for the first time weight went the wrong direction on the scale. I have at least another 45kg to lose; I really thought I would never see the numbers go in the wrong direction. I am not so disheartened that I would fall off the wagon as I have reversed my type 2 diagnosis and don’t ever want to be as big as I was or am now. I am disgusted with myself for being a lazy, fat, sugar and carb addict and am in constant fear of reversing the good I have done so far because my mental/emotional state impacts hugely on my success in anything, but particularly when it comes to my weight. I will keep plugging at it.

I have been lurking for a while but have decided to go for it now.I’m a bit similar to you ladies,55,5ft 2 and 13st 3.I rarely join in with forums, just look and get inspired but when I saw this thread I thought I could relate to you all ,so here goes.I lost a couple of stone last year for my son’s wedding and felt great but one of our other lads who’s disabled has been in and out of hospital for most of the year and everything went to pot.I’m very active, walk,go to the gym and keep busy but like my food too much! The days I’ve kept to 800 calories haven’t been too difficult ,have to distract myself a lot.We tend to do a lot of entertaining and I find it hard to get back on track again.Recently I’ve gone off meat, still have a bit but prefer not to eat it a lot ,it’s sometimes difficult getting the carbs low enough even though the calories are OK.I love greek yogurt but just have to get small pots as I can finish a big tub no problem!Looking forward to losing a few stone and feeling good about myself again and not yo yo ing.We can all do it!

Verano, I have checked out diet doctor before getting into BSD. (and I got an email from them yesterday about Micheal Mosley on the Jeremy Vine show this week talking about the dangers of sugar which I haven’t listened to yet) The only thing is it states that you should not be calorie counting and following a LCHF diet. I did try LCHF before this but you have to go into ketosis to lose weight and it is very inflexible. But i agree the recipes are good.

who knew that after 8 weeks and a loss of 8kg so far:
    – I would happily be drinking large glasses of tap water
    – eating eggs for breakfast (and sometimes with tomato and spinach)
    – that I could open the bread bin without grabbing a slice and smothering it in butter, marmalade or marmite
    – that I now realise that previous to this I must easily have been eating more than twice the amount I needed every day
    – that I wouldn’t feel self conscious walking down the road on my own
    – that I can look in a full length mirror without feeling completely depressed.
Next 8 weeks coming up on Saturday. Another 12kg to go.

    Hi

Has anybody looked at the dietdoctor.com website? It’s an American website which promotes LCHF eating. In their latest email there’s a link to Dr Moseley’s ‘Beating Diabetes with Michael Mosely’s’ program which was broadcast in Australia. Very interesting, especially for anybody who hasn’t heard him speak before. There’s also a ling to a radio broadcast about the danger of sugar.

If you watch the TV recoding please read the comments below the link. Some of them are really fascinating … they obviously had no idea what he was talking about.!!!

It’s also a good site for recipe ideas etc.

Well done Frog on your latest weigh in results. Isn’t it true that we have all been putting on weight because we have lost touch with recognising what our bodies want and need because we have been duped by the food industry into believing the wrong things (margarine is better than butter – duh) and of course our animals are wiser than us on this score. Although having said that I think my little mini schnauzer would eat until her eyeballs burst if she had half the chance. Such a greedy girl (like her owner!)

Brilliant, thanks Verano – I’d hovered over it, decided I didn’t want to keep a journal on there, and not clicked through to see the other stuff.

I also found a journal entry from 2010 “diagnosed as horribly anaemic – ferratin level of 3, should be 40-50” glad I don’t feel that crappy anymore – I can remember it taking me about half an hour to walk to the GPs, and needing to sit in the park & rest on the way back – it’s about five minutes brisk walk!

I had thought about reentering stuff from MFP – just doing the weights wouldn’t take too long (I could even miss the bits where I’ve put a bit on and lost it again, making it look like a steady descent!)

Target weight weigh-in on the first of the month.

    Ok……deep breath…. my weight starts with a 9.
I still haven’t reached the top end of my healthy BMI score which is only a couple of pounds away.

At least I haven’t put weight back on in the last couple of months…..so that is a big positive 🙂

    Morning all

Frog – Full English breakfast. I normally have a cooked breakfast at home anyway. Here it’s bacon, egg, half a tomato, mushrooms, sausage and baked beans, with fried bread. Plus toast!

So, I order it without fried bread, and no toast. Only eat a few baked beans and have a taste of the sausage.

And plenty of black coffee 😃

    Ruthdownunder – I love your thinking 😃

The clothes I bought yesterday fit. Yippee!!! So I don’t have to return anything. Underwear, a size 12 top and a pencil skirt (size 14). Now I’m in size 12😱 – except for slim-fitting skirts like the one I bought yesterday. It’s so long since I could buy something ‘off the rack’ and be reasonably certain it would fit!

But I have a question. Why are the clothes on the racks so creased? Oh, and another question- why are the clothes I want to look at nearly always up too high for me to reach? If I can’t reach them down, I don’t buy!!! And there’s not usually anyone nearby to help.

aw thankyou Frog that was such a nice thought! I posted it yesterday so you should have it soon 🙂

I love dragonflies too, I’m working on a set of painted coasters featuring a dreamcatcher, butterflies and dragonflies too. I had hoped to get some more done last night but ended up sitting with my daughter who had got herself upset about something so we sat and talked and hugged. What else can anyone do?

I told her that adults always seem like they know what they are doing but actually I didn’t know what to do or say for her, but everyone was different and it was ok to be sad sometimes, ok to cry, and she should do what felt right for her. After about an hour I suggested she try to distract herself to sleep with an audio book because I suspect she was all set to ruminate for hours and it was one of a few things I KNEW would not help. She is tired this morning but seems happier.

Hubby and I were out for lunch yesterday so BSD wasn’t easy. I compromised – we both chose chicken breast with BBQ sauce and cheese in a bun with chips. I decided to have the chips but not the bun. I ate the chicken and salad first and ended up only eating half of the chips in the end so not too bad really.

not sure what today will bring but I bought a cauliflower yesterday thinking of cauli pizza so I might make that for dinner later. Probably shake for breakfast – no idea for lunch.

Today I want to clean my grill pan – never fun lol. I also need to give my van a tidy up – also never fun. I will also find out how much my car is going to cost me to put through the MOT as it failed yesterday. I knew I was going to need tyres so had that in mind but it also needs a spring, so they are calling today with a price. Ordinarily I’d not be too bothered about having the car off the road as I don’t really need it much but with my parents moving this month I want to be available to help if I can with packing or unpacking etc. My car is also due for a timing belt and service so it’s going to be an expensive few months. Oh well! we’re also getting my son a new bed as well. I may as well file for bankruptcy lol.

    HI Frog
Yes. Just look at My Journal on right hand side of screen click on Weight History and BINGO!! Also if you scroll down slightly you will see a list of options on the right hand side of the screen to change starting weight etc. You can also add historical weights which may let you input your weight history from MFP. You won’t feel like you’re starting from scratch then.

Great news John, and look at you with a BMI of 23.4! All my life I’ve wanted something or someone to tell me to stop losing weight! ” just EAT something Janet” is a phrase I have NEVER heard! Ah well, all changed now and all for the better.
Looking back at my notes, I’ve maintained my weight or lost a few more lbs, since the end of June, so I’m really happy with that. I’ve been following 800 cals (ish) for 2 days a week and just restricting carbs on the rest of the week. Seems to be working. I’ve tried some of the recipes on DietDoctor, and found them to be good. I also noted the BBC food/recipe bit had a list of Mediterranean recipes, most of which were low carb, so I’ve saved them too. Planning my food for the next few days and then shopping accordingly seems to be working.
So good luck John, Lynne, Frog and everyone else, keeping on doing what you are all doing.

Lovely to hear from you ladies. Weight this morning 13st 1/4lb. Loss of 5 1/4lbs. Very pleased. Bit of a muzzy head this morning but have had some water and tablets, so hopefully will clear before work. Lunch today – sardines and cream cheese with salad, dinner – chicken with salad (love salad – with a dressing that is) and of course – yogurt and berries mid evening!! That is my treat, has been for years (that is when I am being good! Lol). What do you all eat?
Jackieppp – pleased to hear from you,10lbs is excellent, well done. Youngish?! I reckon we ‘oldies’ are all 20 inside, have to ignore the exterior ‘cos it is happening to every single person alive – getting older. But I believe 60s are the new 40s ‘cos I feel good (well most of the time!).
G’day Natalie – so pleased you are sticking with it. Looking forward to hearing the improvements in your health. I am sure there will be loads. What was your loss before and how did you feel?
It is a very difficult journey we are beginning, with many trials and tribulations, but I am feeling confident, especially now I have you all by my side. Weekends are difficult for me, this weekend we are watching friends do a ‘muddy run’ then out for lunch – any ideas what to eat welcome! Then in a fortnight, we are again watching our kids do stupid things at Adrenalin Quarry, picnic and then chinese!! I have time to plan and with your back up I am hoping I will be strong! Have you noticed only ‘watching’!!! Bye for now, have a good day.

I’ve been on the receiving end of many odd and slightly unwelcome conversations/diatribes from cab drivers over the years, but that is certainly up there with the weirdest!

She sounds very much like me then, apart from the Scottish bit. And the very funny bit.

There is only one way to find out I suppose, tweet her a link. But then, we might end up being used in a comedy sketch… I do hope she’s not one of these who self-googles… 😮 Imagine…

Fair play to her for doing that though, a lot of these ‘celebs’ need to remember they’re just normal people after all.

And! It’s September! Which means our very own Janey’s marathon challenge for charity starts today! I’m sure we all wish her the best and will keep encouraging her daily with our words of wisdom 🙂 Good luck Janey!

If you have the colon cleansing tablets in the house, and you know that you’ve been OK with them in the past, worth giving them a try.
