Hi Peeps: has anyone been playing with the Freestyle Libre device? Its a continuous blood sugar monitoring device and the NHS only supplies it for those with poorly controlled insulin dependent people with type1 diabetes. But I think that’s missing the point. We know that there are around 4 million adults with type2 diabetes and at least 12 million with pre-diabetes. Now, despite what you may have been told, the insulin response to foods is incredibly individual. So if you know which foods to avoid and which to enjoy its a question of tweaking what you eat rather than “dieting” (for me the word diet means being miserable, hungry and feeling deprived- and I can’t sustain it in the long term. But now I have the device I can see immediately which foods or food combinations spike my glucose and avoid them. Now, think how hard it can be on your fast day. If you can avoid those foods that spike glucose, which also spike insulin and make you hungry think of the benefits. It also means less visceral fat thereby reducing the risks of all those dread diseases: cancer; metabolic syndrome; hypertension; cardiovascular disease; dementia etc. Not bad eh? More here:

Hi Zoomers! Well my reckoning for our weekly loss this week is 9.75 lbs. without going through the last 4 weeks posts, collectively we’ve lost approx 80 lbs between us and several inches which is pretty fantastic! So I’m signing off from this thread now and will see you all on the next 4 week challenge thread. Onwards and downwards Zoomers! 😁 xxx

on 12 Jun 2018 at 20:20 in Fast 800I am going to join this challenge too. I still seem to be stable at my new ‘set weight’ which is about a stone and a half above my old target weight, but stays the same no matter what level of carbs I throw at it. A lot of that weight is water and glycogen but not all of it as some of my size 10’s and even a couple of pairs of size 12 trousers that were very tight before no longer fit. I will be trying a couple of different strategies out, low carb 800, 800 FMD, 20:4 intermittent fasting or OMAD (one meal a day, no snacks) and probably a couple of days just on water/black coffee/herb tea. I will also have days where carbs and alcohol feature so this will be a true intermittent fasting journey, but I am heading to France in about 4 weeks and have a lovely pair of shorts I need to fit back into so that is the goal.

Good to see so many ‘old’ and ‘new’ ‘One Week Challengers’. I find reading all your posts keeps me motivated to carry on.
Today I had lunch in a very lovely ‘celebrity chef’s’ restaurant. The menu was, as you might expect, a little, what I would call ‘arty farty’. Not much in the way of plain food but rather than stop following the WOL I’ve lived for almost two years, I chose two starters…. asparagus with pink grapefruit and marinated salmon with a yogurt and lime dressing. I did have a small piece of artisan sourdough bread but that was only so I could try the exquisite olive oil! So not too much damage and still within the guidelines of Mediterranean eating.
So I guess the real reason for this story is that I’m sure that you do reach a point when simple carbs no longer hold any fascination. There comes a point when you don’t need to ‘resist’ you just don’t want. Similar to the way a vegetarian feels about meat. Maybe we can adopt Buddhas wife’s two ‘c’s’, consciousness and consistency and add ‘care’, as in caring for our bodies. So we have three ‘C’s’ to adopt as our new mantra for this week.

Buddhas wife your post made me smile. Well done on your loss and continued commitment to this journey. Krysia good to hear you are still meeting your goals. See you on week 3.

on 12 Jun 2018 at 18:48 in Fast 800Hi everyone,
I just love reading all of your posts…..the celebrations, the struggles, the encouragement and love. This is my first challenge and I’m excited for the possibilities. I finished Week 4 of my first 8 week round on Sunday and have been struggling with my mindset a bit. I’ve lost 11 pounds but nothing from my waist which is where I carry most of my weight. I’m praying that it’s because it’s taking longer for my liver and my pancreas to deplete it’s fat stores and once those areas are cleaned up, my visceral fat will start melting away. Even though I’m sticking strictly to less than 20 carb grams and under 800 calories, I seem to be stuck hovering between 170 and 172, I’m eating 18:6 and have thrown in a couple of extended fasts but it just won’t budge. I weigh and measure everything and faithfully enter all my food and drink into MFP. I’m exercising 30 mins a day and drinking lots of water. I’m KOKO but sometimes find myself getting a bit glum. I’ve decided that my goal for this challenge is to only weigh myself and take my measurements once a week, period!
My biggest celebration thus far, four weeks in, is that my blood sugars have stabilized between 80 and 85 every morning. For that I am so thankful and grateful and that keeps me motivated even when the more visible ‘signs’ of success aren’t jumping out at me. My second biggest celebration is that my carb cravings and hunger are gone, kaput! Of course, I still see ice cream or crusty bread and think “I bet that would taste divine” but I’m easily able to walk away from it without feeling deprived or upset. That’s HUGE! I’m pretty darn grateful for that, too!
Besides my once a week weigh/measure goal, I’m aiming for a consistent 167 by the end of this challenge. Glad to be walking this journey along with all of you!
🙂 Lisa

on 12 Jun 2018 at 18:20 in Fast 800Mrs. Thompson, the irritability sounds like a typical withdrawal symptom to me. Your body is in a state of
confusion right now, as it is used to expecting the refined carbs/sugar fix, and you are “denying it” what it wants.
This will all improve in a few days, when your body switches over to burning fat for energy, instead of carbs. Fill
up on water, try to distract yourself with a walk, or a relaxing soak in the tub…anything that gets your mind off of it.
You just have to fight your way through this brief period. Stay strong, it will pass 🙂Allie

My hubby is slimming to but he’s following a different plan to me as I haven’t been able to convert him to this diet plan. My biggest downfall is ice cream and biscuits. I have some every night and then feel drained for an hour due to what I now know to be the high carb content come down. This is my first night without eating either. So far I’m not climbing the walls with cravings ☺ lol. Good luck and keep me updated on how you are doing. Amanda

on 12 Jun 2018 at 18:06 in Fast 800Hi all, it’s now day 2 for me and I have to say today has been tough. It’s not that I’m particularly hungry, I’m just tired and in a terribly grumpy mood…I’m snapping at everyone and am just generally angry, for not much of a reason! Please tell me this gets better! Normally when I’m tired or annoyed I eat, then I cheer up. I find if I have a big old chocolate cake or a whole slab of chocolate I instantly feel better. Then to keep that high I’ll have something else sweet and it spirals out of control. This evening I’m feeling tired and annoyed but my normal way of cheering myself up (i.e. By eating sugar) is not an option and I’m struggling with how to cope. Has anyone else experienced this/have advice? Any help gratefully received

on 12 Jun 2018 at 17:26 in Fast 800Am also joining this challenge. My goal is to stay off the insulin for another 4 weeks and hopefully to see my after meal blood sugars reduce to fasting levels much quicker than they are at the moment.
JGwen I really do hope that this does not happen. Although I can quite see though that it could. It is beyond belief that anyone could suggest that only people taken into specialist centres, under doctors supervision, can reverse T2 through diet, and its dangerous for anyone to try to do this at home.
If anyone suggested that to me I would ask if following a LCHF diet to reverse diabetes was more dangerous than asking people with diabetes to base all their meals on starchy carbs and then to treat their deteriorating health with a cocktail of meds and then insulin and eye injections and foot amputations! Sorry rant over – but it actually does make me really angry that we have really been let down by the people we thought were helping us.

and must congratulate you on your inches lost to date! Recording in terms of inches lost instead of using the
scales seems to be very successful for you! There is definitely something to be said for it 🙂 I don’t know if you
happened to see JGwen’s post today on both the weekly challenge and the 4 week one, but it is quite extraordinary.
In 4 weeks time she dropped 3″ from her waist and 3.5″ from her hips, although the scales only drifted downward
by @ 1 1/2lbs! She’s definitely on to something there, and it’s wonderful to read of the progress that you are
both making 🙂 As sunshine-girl says, KOKO !
Happy to see you today 🙂 🙂 🙂Allie

Bjorn – your HB1aC is amazing. My last one was 40 and I am hoping that the next one will be lower – somewhere in the 30s (actually anywhere in the 30s I would be happy with). Am trying 18/6 intermittent fasting in the hope that it will help. I start to get brain fog around 20 hours so am not safe driving – or operating anything – even the cooker or the computer!

on 12 Jun 2018 at 16:31 in Starting the BSDHi everyone – I think we are in week 7 and all still doing well.
Although I am definitely not going to meet my target of 4″ lost round my waist, I have definitely lost 2″ and possibly a bit more (tape measuring is not an exact science) and it really hasn’t been too bad. I have strayed a bit while on holidays and still managed to move things in the right direction so at the end of this 8 week programme I will just carry on.
Trying to have one day of fasting a week and I am sure, as snailrunner said earlier, it does make a difference. According to Jason Fung’s book fasting gets easier if you practice but I’m not there yet. Still requires quite a big mental effort!
How is everyone doing? Please keep posting.

Hello everyone! Since I finished my 8 weeks on may 14th, things have been going reasonably well. I keep hitting my trigger point/weight once a week (I really can’t stay away from carbs). But I do a 36 hour fast every week and it has so far worked to get back below it. Fasting blood glucose have crept up a bit, but is back on track for a few days after the fast. The other week I had a hba1c which showed 31, which is very good despite the fasting sugar taken at the same time was 6.4. Blood pressure is also still normal, so don’t take those pills anymore.
I have increased the weights I lift at the gym a little, so all that comes back is not fat hopefully :).
Good job on your continued weight loss, Buddhas wife! It is so inspirational to come back here and see all that keeps hanging in there. Also good job to you, Krysia to keep staying of the insulin. Keep my fingers crossed that you, Sunshine-girl, will get there too in the not to distant future!
For this weeks challenge I copy Verano and just hope to stay about the same weight as now. And maybe eat a little bit of fish… -

Thanks Verano for setting up another one-week! ❤️❤️❤️
I start at 84,71 kg (13 st 4,7 lb) and my goal is to lose weight. Was 102,1 kg (16 st 1 lb) in januari, starting BSD 12 mars and so far lost a total of 17,39 kg (2 st 10 lb). And honestly its not hard at all! For me it’s all about staying conscious and consistent. And with the help from all of you it’s a joy! 😁 Learn so much every week!
As usual I prefer to not set a specific wheigt goal, just down. That will be a winner for me.
God luck to all of us this week!

Deleted that one and will stick to the correct one!
Very happy with the overall result and realize that I’m closing in on wheigt going from overweight to healthy. Only 10 kg to go! It wasn’t long ago celebrated going from obesity to overweight. It’s going so fast! I will do this! And so will you!
Thank you to all of you for the lovley support!

Hello can I join in! Week 2 for me. No weight loss goals – just focusing on the process and letting the outcome take care of itself.
Not one cheat in week 1 which I am pleased with. And not feeling any sense of deprivation either. Mood level, energy pretty good. Am still feelling hungry quite a lot but never HANGRY! Which is a big change as I used to get very agitated when I was hungry.
Looking forward to sharing another successful week with all you inspirational people! -
Hello, everyone! I share your opinion, Maggie, that this problem is beyond massive….I read Michael Pollan’s
book, “The Omnivore’s Dilemna” @ 12 years ago. In it he examines our food supply, and it shocked me beyond
measure how little most people actually know about where their food comes from, or why the general public
doesn’t demand higher quality. The poorest populations suffer the most, and their diets are the most carb
heavy. I’ve read studies where the most obese populations of women are actually found to also suffer from
malnutrition. The fast food industry has a lot to answer for, and unfortunately we have segments of the
population who for multiple generations have developed tastes for only this kind of food, and won’t eat
anything green. The govt. set up a lunch program, and none of the children would eat the food because it
was utterly foreign to them. 80% of the food went into the bin! The program was a flop, and an appalling
waste of money. We’ve just gotten too far from the land, I think. I make every effort to eat from local
sources, where I know the farming practices, and have had to find free range or pasture raised proteins.
There are excellent whole food markets, but as you can imagine, they only exist in affluent communities.
For me, that means driving 45 min. out the way to access them! Worth it, I think! -
That is so lovely to hear, what a very happy day you must both have had. As you say, nothing to fight about , let’s just be happy examples of how well this works and how much healthier we are.

Hi all!
I feel very happy for all the reported inches lbs insights fitness mood sleep you all are reporting!! ! What a pleasure to read! BIG congratulations to you all!!! ❤️❤️❤️👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👏👏👏😄😄😄
I had a very nice weekend with a long awaited dinner with my younger sister. The to of us had a lot to catch up and I had prepared a entrecote, mayonnaise, asparagus and a sallad.
I was hoping to get her back on the wagon again for we both has about 30-40 kg to loose. Could not say that directly but showed my apps. At one point when i turned my head away to reach the salt she suddenly exclaimed that she saw my neck late and said “Oh wow! That haven’t been visible for years!” and enthusiastic continued “This is so good. You are really doing this so well!”
We continued the dinner and when having the cheese and wine she proclaimed that she was thinking of maby starting loosing weight again in the future. I almost cryed of hapiness inside myself but just said that it would be lovley.
Our history is that many year’s ago she and her husband was doing LCHF but in those times it was all about eating only meet and fat and no legymes, no vegetables and if eating egg the egg whites was thrown away. I was so angry!
I was almost a vegetarian, wery conscious about environmental issues, and we argued bitterly!
We never agreed on the issue and toatly stopped talking about wheigt loss.
Late in the warm evening watching the sun go down over the lake we had our dessert with strawberrys, whipped cream, raspberry sorbet and vanilla ice cream she suddenly asked
-Isn’t your diet LCHF?
I nodded and then she revealed that she actually has MMs bok on BSD.
Wow! I was thrilled!
-I think I really have to start soon again, she thoughtfully concluded. I was the happiest sister in the world.
So looking back I think BSD dont need any advertising just all of us KOKO and let the result and many changes of our bodies and mind’s health speek for it self.
The ones that “get it” are more than welcome to join but there must be no war on right and wrong. That belongs to the past.
And as we all are different of course there need to be many options.
For my self feel blessed to have found BSD and all of you!
This week (no measurement Tuesday so it’s from thirsday) down 1,42 kg.
Very happy with that and realize that I’m closing in on wheigt goingt from overweight to healthy. Only 10 kg to go! I will do this!
See you all in next week’s thread!
❤️❤️❤️

I love that about the diet clubs – move the goalposts bit by bit and then when you’ve finished hope that nobody noticed you just did a 180 degree turn 😊
When my first daughter was born the very strong guidance was that she should sleep on her front; second daughter and it was never on her front. They acted as though they had never given the old advice.
So, who knows the NHS might do an about turn on dietary advice. -

on 12 Jun 2018 at 14:03 in Fast 800Hi Zoomers,
Looking forward to this 4 week challenge! It nearly takes me to my holiday at the end of July and ideally I would love to loose 4kg by then I would be ecstatic! So far I don’t seem to be able to loose 1kg a week but I haven’t been sticking to it 100% all the time, so here goes!!
I am getting into fasting and I love the control it gives me, very much mind over matter and it’s a nice feeling to ignore the hunger pangs when previously I would have given into hunger pangs! I’m going to try and stick to the 10 thousand steps a day where possible and keep the fluid intake to 3 litres.
So I’m starting the month at 64.4 and I’m hoping to loose 4kg taking me to 60.4 ( 60 would be amazing)Good luck everyone!!! 😊

Thanks in advance for the support any lifestyle advice gratefully received as find sustaining / self destructive behaviour difficult to overcome. Denise xx -
I joined the monthly challenge, but would also like to join the weekly, if that’s okay, because it might help to break up the longer goal into smaller bits.
Starting weight: 127.0 lbs
Overall goal: Somewhere between 105 and 115, depending on how I feel once I get there.
Goal for 4 weeks: 122.0 lbs
Goal for this week: 125.0 lbsSince I don’t have a lot to lose, I’m keeping the goals reasonably conservative. This week’s goal is more because it sounded like the first week is typically more dramatic when transitioning to a lower-carb diet.
Also, I’m glad to see a couple of other newbies, like me :). Good luck!
-
Hi mumofcrazynamesdkids and welcome back. You will have to sort out your own demons but my way of doing it is thinking that the 8 weeks is not forever even though I always follow the low carb principles of the diet as a way of life. I know, there is always something and it is hard. As for your SW friend tell her the NHS is going to be rolling out this low carb way of eating for the general public (not just diabetics) in the near future and even SW and WW have started reviewing their recipes and menu plans/ Yes they still allow starchy carbs like pots and pasta but are doing a lot more cauli rice and spiral courgette – I still buy the magazines as it is something in English to read for me. There is even an article in the latest WW mag (May 2018) called Fat Lot of Good – with the by line – low-fat isn’t always a smart choice. Who would ever guess they would get on board. There is an article in SW mag called Fat Is Not the Enemy (we once thought it was). Welcome to our world outdated diet clubs.
This is week 2 of my 8 weeks and my goal was 14lbs and having lost 3lbs I am left with 11lbs to lose in 7 weeks. With the long term still in my sights I am hoping for 2lbs per week for now. I know newcomers might not think that is much but I have been on this plan for 2 years and your body does get used to it and, normally in week one, a lot of what you lose is fluid, I am already past that point, so very happy with 3lbs dropping down to 2lbs. Have a good day everyone and keep on keeping on… I do live by that mantra.

on 12 Jun 2018 at 12:48 in Fast 800Hi all. I set myself a long term (8 week goal) of 14lbs. I have lost 3.5lb and now into my second weekly challenge I would like to lose at least 2lbs but maybe 2.5. The 3.5lb was probably all weight as I have never really been off the diet – just a few extra calories- so no water weight loss, hopefully just pure fat. Also I have this one week run up before I have a restaurant meal on the 20th. I am not on 35 units of insulin so would like to be down to 32 in one week.
Seeing the doctor tomorrow and would like at least half a pound by then – fingers crossed.

on 12 Jun 2018 at 12:35 in Fast 800Okay, I’m just officially starting (dipped my toe in last week, but wasn’t being strict), so I’d like to join this monthly challenge. I am just doing this in an effort to get back into shape and prevent issues as I get older, not to reverse any existing issues.
Starting weight: 127.0 lbs
Goal for this month: 122.0 lbs
Goal overall: Eh, anywhere between 105 and 115 is probably reasonable. So let’s call it 110.
I have one vacation planned this month where I’ll need to eat what’s available, but I should otherwise be fine to prep and eat according to the plan. Even on that week, I feel like I can adjust to follow most of it, if not all! -
Hi All,
Can I join you? Constantly starting and falling off, need the motivation of you lovely people to keep me focused. Just bookmarking to come and catch up on the thread later, recognised a few names, my main problem is that I can stick to it during the day, and most weekdays, but as soon as PMT, friends over for wine, or weekends get involved, then the struggle begins, and I usually undo most of my good work. Also, I work in a school and so, the regular holidays are the ultimate fail, I had lost 12 pounds recently (of an overall 2.5 stone target), gained 2 back before half term, then another 2 over half term, and now a social weekend this weekend has added another 2, but I am back on it and determined again, I am going to the Scilly’s in 7 weeks, which will be very food/drink heavy, then I have a week sans kids, so lots of social catch ups probably including wine applies, and then a week in Greece, food and drink again, although Med food will be easy there, but drink harder
I know I need to build in some exercise, (and want to, not just need, at age 45 my muscle wastage is becoming apparent and I really want to tone my body) Keep thinking about HIIT, so any easy suggestions about getting started with this would be greatly appreciated.
Feeling very positive about this today….especially….perversely perhaps…because a new work colleague just told me how unhealthy my low cal/ low carb diet was (she is a slimming world advocate, low fat, lots of carbs and has lots nutritionally trained personal trainer friends!!!) I just said we would have to agree to differ, that I have done my research and am completely assured that my choice of WOE is nutritionally sound! -
So our puzzling about the difference of the impact on insulin of carbs combined with fibre just got much more interesting. – Calculating the impact on insulin levels by GI is less than 60% accurate.
-
Hi MoJo, I do this pretty much every month, I always have a carb binge – happened for me last night, made me check my Calendar for Period dates and yep, I am approx 3-4 days pre period, so that is when these carb cravings hit for me. I don’t beat myself up, just get straight back on it, if you think about it over the course of a month/week, it really isn’t that bad. We fluctuate, but not letting it send you totally off piste for any length of time is the best thing. and I am telling myself that I need to learn to throw stuff in the fridge. I had a weekend of guests, way too much food left over, and I should have just chucked it rather than the temptation lying in wait!
-
That’s frightening – no more cranberry sauce with the Christmas turkey then. Things just get more complicated don’t they?
So the standard fast food takeaway is whatever and chips plus a soft drink – that must be so much more than the sum of its parts. No wonder fast food junkies are so badly affected by metabolic syndrome.
The worst thing is that many have little choice; did you watch Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s programmes recently where he showed that deprived areas had virtually no access to fresh produce? It’s the same in the US where 23 million have no access and have to depend on convenience stores and fast food outlets. The problem really is massive.

on 12 Jun 2018 at 11:35 in Fast 800There was a discussion previously about if there was a need for a host to welcome and help hold the hands of newcomers to this thread. I felt at the time that we probably cope OK sharing that role between us without a formal host. – I know you feel differently Allie, so I felt it important to give people like yourselves who are outside the UK advance warning of a pattern I can see developing.
I saw an interview on BBC breakfast program this morning about the program on reversing T2 which will be on ITV this week. – Hummm, it appears from the interview with one of the participants that the theme is only people taken into specialist centres, under doctors supervision, can reverse T2 through diet, and its dangerous for anyone to try to do this at home.
If we think it through logically the ego, professional reputation ( and the risk of compensation claims,) of all the professors, experts, NHS staff, etc who have been saying that T2 can not be reversed through diet is going to impact on how the NHS reverses the message on carbs good, fat bad. – There is a host of reasons why they will not hold their hands up and say the advice we were giving you was wrong, and instead will say, new research, but we were right and the general public can’t make changes like this, it can only be done with medical supervision.
What does it mean for this forum. – My guess is we are likely to see an influx of newcomers in the next month, many of whom will be keen to break free from T2, but scared by line the NHS is going to take. There is also the possibility that there will be trolls circulating who want to discredit this forum to support the NHS line that its not safe for people to make the changes to their WoE without doctors supervision to reverse T2.

I got as far as section 1.2.3.2 and thought this paragraph alone makes the document worth sharing.
“In adults with type 2 diabetes, the insulin response to each protein food tested (cottage cheese,
gelatin, beef, turkey, fish, soy and egg whites) when combined with glucose was more than
two-fold greater than the response to glucose alone, even though the amount of protein was
only half that of glucose on a gram-for-gram basis39. The relative area under the curve was
greatest for glucose + cottage cheese, with a response 360% greater than that of glucose
alone. The lowest response was for glucose + egg whites, however this was still significantly
higher than that for glucose alone, producing a plasma insulin response 190% greater than
glucose alone.” -

on 12 Jun 2018 at 11:00 in Fast 800Hi everyone – I’m on week 7 and I can’t believe it’s been that long! My weight loss to date is 19lbs, down from 163 to 144. To be honest I have been mixing it up a bit and added in some fasting because I know I’m easily defeated if the scales don’t tell me what I want to see!
In the final sprint to the end I’ll be pushing myself hard and hope to lose 6lbs. I know it’s ambitious but as long as I’m making progress I’m temptation proof. My mindset is still that it’s the scales that matter not the inches, which I know is crazy but I’ve managed to switch from counting calories to carbs so one step at a time!

Well done to everyone for your weight loss this week. 3/4lb drop this week. Although goal is to stay off insulin – it seems to trigger continuing weight loss even though I have upped calories. After meal BS don’t go higher than 6.8 but are very very slow to drop to fasting levels – which are actually very good.

Yay well done everyone! I completely agree that the scales can be misleading. I absolutely think a lot of mine was water as I feel a lot slimmer in the face but wouldn’t say my body has dramatically changed. JGwen, they are amazing results! I am confused with my body as I seem to have put size on my arms and legs. Also, I think I have been measuring my waist incorrectly for years – I measure where it goes in, which is actually just below my ribs…. read online that you should measure around your belly button, which was a shock at 36inches last week, but that has come down to 34 this week, so in the right direction 🙂 although I haven’t contributed much (it’s really hard on an iPhone) just reading your posts has kept me going and focused, so thank you to you all 🙂

End of this one week challenge and I have lost 3.5lbs or 1.6kg – very happy as my goal was between 3 and 5lbs. Now need to lose another pound before doctor tomorrow but he is doing a smear test on me so he might forget about doing my weight (not much chance of that). Anyway, I need to jump to the next challenge and think about my weeks goals. See you all there.

Well found JGwen. That’s a chunky bit of reading- I think I’ll have to come back to it. Thanks for digging around.

on 12 Jun 2018 at 10:11 in Fast 800Hi Zoomers!
No weightless to report but I’m very happy to be at my pre-holiday weight of a couple of weeks ago! My goal for this 4 week challenge is to get into the next stone (1.25lbs will get me there!) and improve my average weekly blood sugars by keeping low carb. I’m 5:2-ing at the moment and will be starting another Fast800 in a couple of week’s time. I put my goals down somewhere, possibly earlier in this thread, in which case sorry for repeating it!
Have a good day all.

on 12 Jun 2018 at 09:42 in Fast 800Hi Vulcan. Good to have you on board. It is quite ambitious but you could get close if you were very strict and kept to no more than 20g carbs, zero alcohol, 2-3 litres of water each day. Fingers crossed for you. I shall follow with interest!
JGwen – you’re nearly there! I am very impressed at your single mindedness! Superb!

3/4lb drop this week. Goal is to stay off the insulin and I am wondering if by losing a little more weight I will clear out more fat from my liver and make staying off the insulin easier.

on 12 Jun 2018 at 09:30 in Fast 800Hi MrsThompson – I’ve had a look at the pizza express menu. It’s a high carb nightmare isn’t it? ☹️ I’d go for the Niçoise salad but ask them if they could substitute the dough sticks with a bit extra salad and ask for the dressing on the side. Just explain for health reasons, you eat a low carb diet. Most restaurants are more than happy to accommodate dietary requests. We just have to get over our shyness and just ask. 😀 you’ll also impress your family! I’m sure they will soon be supportive of you if you show you are serious and determined. 👍👍😁. Good luck!
Well done, Zinny! I’ve made a note for the end of our 4 week June challenge.

Oh no – auto correct has struck again. I actually typed “If I was your husband I would also increase the glitz back to the pre BSD level while he is unwell. Goodness knows why my tablet inserted the extra words.

The problem is, when I go to sleep earlier I don’t get that full eight or nine hours; I usually wake up at 5 or 6 AM so I’m still getting the same amount of sleep I would if I was closing my eyes at 1 or 2 AM.I am aware that sleeping regimens need time to kick in with the cycle, but it’s been months now and I have no reprieve. Should I see a doctor? Take medication? Should i try taking medicinal cannabis like this one https://www.bonzaseeds.com/blog/og-18/ ??
Sucks, man. By like 3 or 4 PM I start dozing off again, and I come home and I just want to take a nap. Lack of energy, which impacts my gym regimen and general welfare. I don’t want to do chores, or work, or even play video games in my down time because staring at the screen tires me out. -

on 12 Jun 2018 at 09:19 in Fast 800Thanks for setting this up KazzUK,
My aim for the next 4 weeks is to get into a habit of eating low carb, low protein 4 days a week, and low carb the rest of the week. I am heading towards the end of this stage of the journey, having lost 6 stone so far, and have around one dress size to go. I don’t have loose skin at present, but its something that worries me, so I am going to try to ensure that I am benefiting from autophagy.
