I went for my first walk yesterday, in proper exercise sneakers but my elderly socks slipped down a bit at the back and after only 20 min walk all the skin was rubbed off my heels. Ouch! My skin is so girly-tender, which looks nice and youthful but it can be inconvenient. Need to toughen up, princess. Bandaid-up and onward march!

Welcome back Sarah & everyone else joining in this New Years Day start to another eight week Blood Sugar Diet stint. We can do this again!
Our day will be somewhat modified carb wise because of some left over Jasmine Rice to eat with our left over Thai Fish & Sweet Potato curry cooked in coconut milk. But the wine & chocolates have been relegated to out of sight places😎 But will try to keep to 800 calories today & drink more water.
My starting weight is 12 stone 10.5lbs so I’m pleased my weight gain hasn’t taken me up beyond 13 stone because it felt a real achievement getting below that. I need to reach between 9 to 10 stone for my ideal weight & judging from my past experience I can lose 15 lbs in an eight week stint.
I am planning eight weeks on 800 daily low carb calories & one week inbetween more relaxed to see how I’ve done & to give my will power a bit of a break🤔
What are you all planning to do?
Good luck everyone & here I go!

Hi JAN, FROG and BSD pals old and new….
Here’s to a positive and happy 2017,losing more unwanted lbs and inches and feeling better every day!
As Natasha Bedingfield sings in her song Unwritten…
“Today is where your book begins,The rest is still unwritten!”https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TtGY4G7II6s
Lyrics :-
I am unwritten
Can’t read my mind
I’m undefinedI’m just beginning
The pen’s in my hand
Ending unplannedStaring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words
That you could not findReaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skinNo one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lipsDrench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwrittenOh, oh
I break tradition
Sometimes my tries
Are outside the linesWe’ve been conditioned
To not make mistakes
But I can’t live that way, noStaring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words
That you could not findReaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skinNo one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
To the years where your book begins

on 1 Jan 2017 at 10:18 in Fast 800How lovely to see you all on what was meant to be a flying visit to record my 1st of the month weight – have lost the recording thread and will have to have a good look for it!
Glad to see the successes and the determination continuing. I am 122 lbs this morning after a family Christmas which has included many many carb rich moments – interesting to see what still calls to me and it’s the desserts, though the roasties were also great.
But I have included most days of at least 14/16 hour fasts – only coffee in the morning and a very late lunch.
And serious sickness in the family has left me worrying and not so keen on food at some points.
But to those who wonder if they will keep their weight loss, it can be done enjoyable as Captain Lynne says, and knowing the secret of how to do it – and feel really well – is wonderful
Happy New Year to all!

on 1 Jan 2017 at 10:14 in Starting the BSDIn terms of movement – I have downloaded the app Fast Exercise which can get you moving slowly. The other thing is my chiropractor told me to start doing some tai chi every day (I’m really burnt out!). So I found this 8 minute Youtube tutorial I can easily fit into my morning routine – “NOTIME” is never going to be my excuse this year.

I have an exercise bike and the BSD consultant that did my dexa scan told me about interval training. Here’s the link. It’s also a short time span.
http://www.bbc.com/news/health-17177251Good luck – my official thing doesn’t start until the 9th but I am starting a ‘practice’ week on Wednesday when I head back to work.
Happy New Year

Lynne – I also find it so helpful to log everything now I am on maintenance.
When you posted sometime ago that you were logging all your food on maintenance it was a ‘light bulb’ moment for me and I immediately realised why I had always failed at maintenance before. This time I really believe that I will be able to maintain this weight successfully and keep the normal blood sugars.
Your new diary sounds perfect – plenty of room to log everything.
The 1000 challenge sounds such a good idea and I am going to join it today. Just waiting for a bit of a lull in the torrential rain here to do my first walk of the day.
-
Hi everyone, I had done a couple of days before Christmas and like some, then pigged out and undid the good work! I am back on it for 8 weeks from today and will keep going this time, as I know the benefits will definitely outweigh any challenges.
I need to lose 7 stone this year, but aim to get most of shifted by July. It’s will be tough sometime, but being in good company like this will help :0)
Good luck everyone and wishing you all a Happy and Healthy 2017!

on 1 Jan 2017 at 10:06 in Starting the BSDHi everyone and Happy New Year! I’m a complete newbie going to start on Wednesday 4th but a bit scared that I will last about 5 minutes :@ I’m brilliant at making plans but not so good at following them through. It’s as if by the act of making them the weight will drop off and I’ll suddenly magically be slim and fit again. But I’m now in my fifties and the weight has gradually crept on and as others have said earlier something has got to change. I hope that by checking in here regularly I can keep going and also help encourage others to do likewise. Thanks for all the tips so far and see you soon …….
-
Oh, that makes me feel better Jan – I also maintained a steady weight for months, but was horrified that I had put back on nearly 4 kilos in a couple of weeks!
I was actually pretty good on Christmas itself, the last few days have been really rubbish – an entire box of stollen reduced to 30p, and a similarly a chocolate Father Christmas – it was Lindt, but milk chocolate, I felt a bit sick even when I ate it.I have a fridge full of vegetables and smoked salmon now – and a rather large ham that has mulled fruit in the middle. I just checked and it has 5g of carb per 100g, so not too horrendous.

on 1 Jan 2017 at 10:00 in Welcome to the BSDHi bloke41. You’ve done really well. I’ve gone even further backwards. But it was to be expected after yesterday’s blow-out. Today’s weigh-in: 80 kg. Can only go down from here on in! Well, from Tuesday on as I’ve got lunch with friends today. Healthy food but bound to be too much grog.
Happy New Year to everyone. Anyone thinking vaguely about restarting in January… you know where we are. Looking forward to seeing you all again.
-
Thanks natalie, we did so well last time and as you say time to refocus, know we can succeed this time.
Hi Angela06, would love to know what the 1000 mike walk is, never heard of that one, my initial aim is to achieve 10000 steps EVERY day. Good choices today everyone. -
Good post neddsmum, i tried the BSD for 6 weeks before christmas and felt great, then of course the obligatory pig out😒, why o why do we do it😖, so……….change of mindset from today, onwards and upwards, happy new year all BSD’ers x

Hi Frog
Glad I’m not the only lapsed peep here, mind you about time I’ve put on 6 k how about you, I maintained for months, then eating the same it started creeping back on and over Christmas, just eat anything. Onwards and downwards huh,

on 1 Jan 2017 at 09:35 in Welcome to the BSDJust sitting relaxing with my Nespresso and thinking how different this is from last year and how lucky I was that a client lent me the BSD book.
If she hadn’t I don’t think I would have found it and would have been sitting here in despair over my health issues – just like last year. Scared of what further horrors this year would bring (actually more scared than last year thanks to the BBC Panorama programme on diabetes).
Diabetes in remission is wonderful beyond belief but size 10 (and size 8) clothes in my wardrobe run a really close second.
Have just added some items to my saved meals in fat secret – scrolling through them I was struck how lovely and varied and healthy the food is. Even though I am on maintenance I still need to keep a daily food log because I find it absolutely impossible to guess just how much I am eating – which is one of the reasons why I have always failed at maintenance before.
So we are all looking forward to a healthier 2017 – and it is great how we all have adapted the BSD to suit our particular circumstances.

Can an old lapsed, bsder join in, I’ve gone of piste somewhat despite good intentions, and have maintained a weight loss off 10.4 k have put on 6 k. But now plan to restart today, so carb flu here I come,. I’m hoping serious motivation will arise in my mind sometime soon 😂.
But have got a seriously physical challenge ahead of me in the next couple of months so need to get fitter physically and mentally and I know this plan will do both of those. Happy new year 😊 -
Hi there everyone
Yowser great stuff luvvy you are most definitely our go to role model, delighted for your amazing loss.
Well I’m about to seriously restart weighed in today and have put on 6 kilos, soon have that gone, so where’s the thread to join in any suggestions, or is everyone stooping on this one 😃😃😃
Happy BSD new year

Hi! Starting today and feeling like I don’t know where to start! Any help and guidance appreciated while I let all the info sink in…
Hoping to see a bit difference in me in 8 weeks, and get my life and body back 🙂 -
Happy New Year, BSDers everywhere…may 2017 be kind to us all.
Hi Tigs, nice to meet you, it’s so comforting to have company on this journey.
Well, here it is 1st January and I weigh in at 100.6kg. I would like to lose another 10kgs in the next block of 8 weeks but my main aim is to attack the fitness part. I’m a real couch potato so to get myself moving I’m going to try the 1000 mile walk. Considering my normal exercise consists of some basic housework this really will be a challenge but it’s worth a try. I just have to figure out how to record the distances and I’ll be away.
Am skipping breakfast this morning. I was quite restrained last night in what I ate (it was quite hard to say no to the black forest trifle) but I ate way too much and there were two glasses of champagne!
Have a good day everyone.

on 1 Jan 2017 at 08:02 in Welcome to the BSDHAPPY NEW YEAR!
Day 6 of 28, and I’m still not quite settled back into BSD exercise and eating routine! Yes, there is always an excuse to be found…. WHAT I’ve been eating is ok, it’s the extra portions I’m struggling to control (must try harder!). I have a Drs appointment on 17th Jan, so that has become a mini-goal. I’m exercising more but it still feels like a bit of a chore… I’d like to find the heart to be more active!
Plenty exercise in store today, despite the very rainy weather! Also, food wise, a ‘not quite full English’ brunch and later a turkey tea (I was away over Christmas so haven’t been inundated with turkey 🙂 ). Planning meals ahead is definitely the key for me. NO snacks (easily my downfall).
I hope everyone has a wonderful first day of 2017, setting the tone for an amazing year ahead. Happy New Year!

on 1 Jan 2017 at 08:01 in Starting the BSDHAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!! (Yes, I’m still here….!)
A belated Merry Christmas too. I’m now home in Dubai after nine days in Wales (and a LOT of non-BSD food items) and restarting the Fast800 as of tomorrow, after I finish off the leftovers of the five course meal I cooked for friends last night. Gulp. (Literally…)
I’m feeling super positive about 2017 and am actually really excited about restarting. Am feeling pretty lardy after the Xmas hols but the difference is that I know any weight I have put on will be off this time next month so it’s not bothering me like before. I bought the recipe book while at home and can see it’s going to give me a lot of ideas. This is the year I shift that five stone that has been weighing me down for too long for good: I can feel it.
Oh, and I cooked my first meal for The Chef two days ago (if you remember him…). My cooking got a thumbs-up so that felt like a major ‘win’ given he’s been creating gourmet food for the super-rich for 25 years 🙂 He’s now out of the country for a while with his work but we’re going to stay in contact and my plan is to now focus on my diet and give him a nice surprise the next time I see him 🙂
So, sending you all love and encouragement for this new year ahead. Let’s keep on losing and (re)discovering our own potential. I’ll be checking in daily with updates like before as I get back on the horse. I’m super excited to progress this journey – I may need to be reminded of that in a few days when the carb withdrawal has kicked in and I’m in grumpy mode, haha.
Big hugs,
Sarah xxxx -

on 1 Jan 2017 at 07:23 in Welcome to the BSDDAY6 …. WEEK 1
Good morning and Happy 2017
So day 6 already but, apart from possibly tonight for some, the festivities are over!!! As Natalie says there’s always an excuse not to start if you look hard enough! Well no more excuses everyone can be back on the bandwagon if they choose to be.
I think lots of us have had a much better December this year by continuing this way of eating even if it was rather loosely at times. So now into 2017. I’m sure most of us have some goals in our minds. We have the ‘plan’ we just have to put it into practice. Some need complete abstinence from carby foods and for others occasional ‘treats’ fit into their plans. Some of us have diabetes and some just want to lose weight for health reasons or just to look better. Whatever the motivation I think we all probably agree that BSD does bring lots of benefits to our well being.
So lets keep on keeping on and enjoy life with better health and smaller clothes!!!
-
So, my partner and I are both new to the BSD but can identify with many of the health side-effects of too much sugar in our diet. We have decided to start the BSD today along with a couple of friends and are motivating each other as we go through the first 8 weeks. One day at a time is our mantra which will help when things are tough.
It would be really good to hear from other newbies on this forum. X -
Just had a mincenpie arghhhh! Stronger today though believe it or not!
-
C’mon Neddsmum — you were strong and rolling — just jump right back on — you can do this. A bad stretch is just a bad stretch — don’t let your life get away from you! I can hear your energy in your posts and I know you can succeed.

I did one week in December and was thrilled to lose five pounds. Then Christmas came and I completely reverted to my old, bad eating habits. Now I feel stuffed and sick! I am going away to Spain for a week from 7-14th January and will definitely start again on 15th but will try to do it this week before I go as well. I want to lose two stone and a lot of tummy! One hour until midnight here in England. A happy and healthy new year to you all.

I’ve a lot to loose and I’m worried about loose skin! Never goes from hips and thighs- pretty sure I’m going to end up with no boobs! Flying squirrel is not really the look I’m hoping for but if it’s a choice between flappy skin or Type 2 Diabetes I’ll take the skin! -

on 31 Dec 2016 at 21:54 in Welcome to the BSDWe had people over last night for a NYE party and I did have some snacks, back on the wagon this morning, Happy New Year everyone!
I had a funny conversation with another lady at the party, we were joking but it’s funny because it’s true, you know?
I said I was going back on my diet tomorrow, Martha said why not wait until Monday because diets have to start on a Monday, so I said I’d better wait until Tuesday when Tim goes back to work so she said to start after the kids were back at school after the holidays because it’s too hard when they are at home… and on we went. You can always find an excuse if you try! -
TumtumP I am intrigued by the comment (spaniels ears boobs not so much!!). What does it mean?!
Granny good to see you still around!
A new year seems like a great time to refocus and make a fresh start, all mistakes in the past.

My goal for 2017 is to get as much weight off as I can, be more active and “try” to cure my type 2 once and for all. I hate taking Metformin, I am constantly on the loo with it – My doctor told me to carry on taking it as well as the diet but the med leaflet says to stop if on 1000 or under cals a day.
I risk my diabetes going to the point of injection BUT if this diet is anywhere as good as it claims, then I will be going the other way without any metformin at all.
My last remaining relative died in June so I figure worst that can happen is I die too, in which case I will embrace it and not be scared of dying!
