So was yours janet! I’m still losing weight on those calories ๐
Managed to buy ordinary, plain low fat yoghurt (Yeo) we were out today so got two big pots. Unless I’m remembering incorrectly the calorie difference between that and the low fat one is hardly anything.
B: plain yoghurt/ strawberries
L: salad with wafer thin ham
D: salad with chicken breast on bone
Tea/coffee
Apple/pear/ few walnuts
Missay, please, pretty please put that peshwari bread recipe on the recipes tab ๐
It sounds delicious x
Nicely done Judith ๐
Brekkie – an apple and 8 almonds
Lunch – home made leek and lentil soup
Dinner – tuna steak in tomato, spinach and basil sauce. Steamed purple sprouting, carrots and mange tout. (The sauce was nice, but I don’t think it went with the fish and veg. Might be better with cod or chicken)
snacks – I accidentally ate some dried coconut, as you do.
Drinks – water, lots of tea with milk.
I like the sound of your flatbread, Missay. Besan flour is the same thing as gram flour isn’t it?
Debs love your rewards ideas. Brilliant ๐
Lucia please don’t laugh……mine would be leonard cohen……for his brains, wit and honesty. His voice just does it for me too. ๐
Dear Lucia,
Life sucks at times doesn’t it, when I separated from my first husband he left me in so much debt with loans he had forged in my name that I nearly lost the house but it’s amazing where you get the strength from to work through things.
As for your September life, it doesn’t make sense that what you see in the mirror doesn’t match what you feel in your head and your heart, inside I still feel 20 something and I don’t mean size! We can’t let life pass us by, there is so much living to do and all the more incentive and confidence when we are slimmer, sexier, more sassy with wardrobes to match that aren’t based on black but show off our va va voom. ๐๐ ๐here’s to the future!
Don’t think you could put up with me Jackie LOL. I eat very strange combinations – but it works for me!
Hi Rob, sorry it’s late but I had seen Janet had sent you a plan for a day;
To answer the oats longing;
Breakfast – Atholl Brose. …Total = 332 calories, 30.19g carbs.
Toast 1 oz rolled oats , toast on foil under the grill or in a dry frying pan then cool. (oats = 110 calories, 18.79g carbs)
Pour a pot of Fage Greek Yoghurt (not the 0%) into a bowl (190 cals, 8g carbs)
Stir in the cooled oats and 2 oz raspberries (32 calories, 3.4 g carbs.
Lunch: (packed lunch?) total = 408 calories, 1.77 carbs
If you need a snack Aldi do little packs of nuts ( by the tills) 153 calories, 2.71 carbs.
That would take your total carbs for the day to 41.09
The days calories would then be 1174 calories.
If you have tea or coffee remember to add the carbs, cals for that too.
2 boiled eggs, (140 cals, 0.98g carbs)
Ioz cheddar cheese (113 cals ,0.4 g carbs.
2 slices deli ham (153 calories, 0 carbs)
1quarter of a lettuce (2 calories, 0.39g carbs)
Dinner: total = 281 calories, 6.42 carbs
6oz piece of cod (140 calories, 0g carbs) ( wrap in foil, flavour to taste – e.g )soy sauce, lemon juice, ginger, chilli
4oz cauliflower (28 calories, 6.02 g)
1 oz grated cheese (113 cals, 0.4g carbs)
Sprinkle cheese over the cauli
Total of meals = 1021 calories, 38.38 carbs
Drink 2 to 3 litres of water, herbal teas.
You can see just 1 oz oats gives a big carb hit, but the recipe is delicious. You can make double or triple the quantity and store the extra in the fridge. It would also make a good packed lunch. ๐

I’ll post some more tomorrow!
Would you like me to make a leek (without potato ) soup, if it tastes OK I will post the recipe to you ๐
Hi Lucia. My work clothes are navy and white. Out of work it’s navy/black trousers and a few coloured tops. Now the tops sure brighter – and some are actually patterned ๐ฑ๐
Pin ups? Too old for that๐ณ If I had to choose now it would be Mark Harmon and/or David mcCallum, the younger Sean Connery or the younger Omar Shareef. (Once I’was having a painful medical procedure done and an Egyptian doctor was observing. He looked just like Omar Shareef – and he held my hand. Made it a little less painful ๐)
Captainlynne well done – when can I move in??
Hi Debs
Like the rewards scheme, very well thought out! I treated myself to a pretty little orchid when I got to 10lb lost, as they are my weakness – other than whisky and dark chocolate of course.
Have look at the Non Scales Victories thread and post yours as you achieve your goals.
Loom forward to hearing all about your progress.
Thanks Penny, I don’t think I have ever been called an inspiration before! I sometimes wonder if maybe I’m putting too much info on about what has gone into my meals, but then it seems a shame not to mention things like the spices I use, as they add so much to the taste!
So, without further ado – today’s food…
Breakfast: Greek yogurt with a cooked golden plum and cinnamon
Lunch: nothing, as we were emptying and decorating our utility room, not hungry anyway.
Dinner: Lamb and spinach curry, with a ‘Peshwari besan flatbread’. I made the batter as usual with besan flour and coconut flour, salt and water (5 tbspns besan and one of coconut, to serve two of us), put coconut oil and a nib of butter into the pan and then poured in the batter. Once it was beginning to set I sprinkled over 15g of unsweetened dessicated coconut and 10g of raisins, then folded it in half, like an omelette. Then I put the pan under the grill to finish the top. Yum yum, yummy yum!
Snack: a tbspn of hummus. OH had his with doritos (I weighed him out an ounce), but I managed to resist them.
Drinks: Water, fizzy and still, one Earl Grey tea with splash of milk, one coffee with cream, a butter mint tea.
Cals: 812. Carbs: 53
Hi Rob, my two words health and happy.
It will get better, especially when you start seeing results!
Judith. Apologies, just remembered I’d not answered your question about fibromyalgia.
I’d thought even before the BSD that bread especially caused me problems, especially joint pain. But it would build up and cause other problems. Unfortunately I’d got into the ‘anything between 2 slices of bread’ habit so I was in a lot of pain. Quite often I used a walking stick to help me up the stairs to bed, and sometimes still other times as well.
Very quickly after starting the BSD all that changed. I’m in a lot less pain and I can’t remember the last time I used the stick. I’d started to use it at airports, because the walking around large airports caused me a lot of pain. And my holidays lady year the stick was with me all the time – all that walking. When I went to Prague recently the stick stayed at home.
The ‘tired all the time’ has lessened and I do have more energy, think more clearly and concentrate better. I also get less irritated – things that would have really got to me can now normally be ignored.
So quite a lot of changes for the better – all for cutting out carbs ๐
Hope this answers your question/helps.
Thanks for all your support.
what do u all hv thru the day
breakfast
lunch
dinner
And any warm drinks like tea/coffee
nuts and fats?
Hi captain Lynne.
I my colour palette is black on black.
I am under the allusion its slimming. ( just realising my fat makes me look fat).
I have tried to introduce a red scarf as an accent. Not ready for a whole red sweater or top.
But I am getting there.
Football must be rubbish or finished, he’s gone up for a shower. ๐๐๐๐๐
Now I need to cheer up.
Just seen a picture of legolas in Lord of the rings. Swoon , swoon,
Who is your pin up?

Hi stringbreaker – well done – great results! No it did not feel that long, it kept me busy planning, organising etc but rarely fretting about being hungry that it felt like normal days. Bought lots of new (second hand) cook books tho’ and having great fun looking through for ideas ๐
Lol, wow, just goes to show there’s no truth in weight loss slowing down, doesn’t it. No wonder you’re chuffed!
Hi Hashimoto,
Boy you sound busy, I think getting rid of the ‘fat clothes’ will do me the world if good in a month or twos time.
I enjoyed my spring clean last weekend.
On Sunday hoping to jump the bus into town and walk the legs off myself.
Would love to visit London again and see the museum and art galleries. Might try and arrange it say, Autumn time when its a bit cheaper.
I am going to wash all the windows next Saturday. Let more sunshine in.

I love the rewards part – good thinking! I promise it gets easier…. especially once you start cooking real food again. At least you have a couple of weeks to plan and if you can, cook up things like soup into individual portions and freeze. It really does help to have a backlog of good food in the freezer. I label everything with what it is and also the calories in it – how sad is that! I am also considering a spreadsheet of what I have cooked that is in the freezer so I can see what is available and help with the planning. Might be a step to far in organising!
Skyr is low fat, so probably best avoided in favour of full fat options, which will make you feel fuller for longer and encourage fat burning too. I use the Lidl’s Turkish Style Yogurt, which is a yogurt/cream combination and 10% fat. It is quite smooth and creamy and can be matched with sweet or savoury. I have it most breakfasts with berries and a ground seed topping and as it’s so satisfying I have also had 30g with a quarter spoon of honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon as a little afternoon treat if I’m feeling peckish.
Hi cat girl,
Lost everything a while ago,
I now have a mortgage, that has several years to go, no savings, no pension. Plus I am in my September life. So I need to work. Think I will still be working at 80 ! ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ
I may put a pound on this weeks lottery, win millions and take you all on a months holiday.
But until that happens I just try and enjoy my weekends.
Anyway, enough of the down.
Your meal sounds wonderful, big will try and do my version of it on the weekend, when I can visit my fruit and veg shop of local produce.
Mmmmmmmmmmm

Cheers,
Deb
Judith, smart phone optional – but more discreet than regular cameras on these missions ๐
You’ll be at six weeks before you know it. It really does seem to pass so quickly and to be honest, I hardly notice I’m on a diet now and you will be like that too, if you aren’t already. It’s amazing how the body adjusts to this new regime and how much better you feel for it.
Keep us posted on your progress.
Welcome to the family Anthony. Lots of support and advice (and laughs) on here ๐
Thanks janet, good idea. ๐
LOL Janet. I’ve lost 3 pounds since Saturday. Couldn’t believe it, becaus I lost 2 pound between yesterday and today๐ณ๐
Fantastic Judith. I’ve cleared my wardrobe and slowly buying new because I’d only saved uniforms that were too small, nothing else. My poor wardrobe will need sunglasses because from my clothes being mainly navy, colour is appearing. Although I’m not yet brave enough to buy trousers (or skirts) in anything other than navy of black๐ณ One day๐
Have just put it on my facebook page again, can’t hurt.
Hey Anthony good to have you aboard. You will be surprised how easy it is to commit to the BSD and you will soon be posting your positive results for us to read. Make good use of the forum and yell if you need advise or encouragement, someone will be able to help.
Best of luck!
Since starting this my eating pattern has changed. Before, I would eat a bacon sandwich or similar then be starving again soon, panicking and searching hit lunch (usually a sandwich or something else with carbs), then an evening meal (often with bread and/or potatoes or pasta). Then a snack to eat in bed. Often if I was out shopping I would grab a latte, usually with a muffin or other pastry
Now, I eat a cooked breakfast (bacon, egg and black pudding is the current favourite) then usually don’t feel hungry before late afternoon. Then it’s more protein with various other bits and pieces. I’m not tolerating veg or salad very well at the moment so they don’t feature very much. No bedtime snack. And no lattes (or pastries). The local takeaways must be wondering where I am๐ฑ
Welcome anthony! You’ll get lots of help and support here. There are lots of people here just like you. Wishing you every success. Just ask for what you need.
We are up to 104 signatures as I write. My son signed tonight. ๐
Agreed sunnyb!
3 stone in a day, that’s amazing captainlynne! Only joking! Thats a great achievement well done xx
JackieMac, The team said it was ok to stay on this for a few weeks then go to 5:2, but like some others on here I’m staying on 800 calories longer term as I still have a lot more weight to lose. I’m in my 14th week and today I’ve lost 3 stone.
Lucia I am H A P P Y. I’m singing it, do you know the tune?
Well, after the hairdressers. I. Totally emptied my wardrobe and chest of drawers. I tried everything on.
Some went in charity bags some went in the bin.
The rest fitted!!! Things I. Had forgotten, some never worn ( I was getting too fat too fast) some old favourites.
Now i can open my wardrobe doors and EVERYTHING fits and it is all colour sorted. I’m over the moon. For years my wardrobes were groaning with clothes but I could only get into a few things.
I have a complete new wardrobe and haven’t spent a penny! I haven’t yet emptied my dressing table drawers so need to find if i need new swimming cossies and I still need to sort my undies. I think a lot of them will be hitting the bin.
I have never enjoyed spring cleaning this much!
I’m still singing xxx
Yes bizzylizzy/penny, it is the diet doctor website
Hi all. I am a 56 year old man, 6’2″ and 275 lbs. (188 centimeters and 125 kilos). I have the food, got a scale, am ready to get a good night’s sleep and begin the BSD Fast 800 in the morning. I am prediabetic, have high blood pressure, have some neurological issues that are probably related to blood sugar, and am just generally tired of feeling poorly. I overeat and consume a lot of sugar primarily for emotional reasons, looking forward to seeing if I can commit to this!
Well done Marjorie. You are right, there’s nothing to be gained by wasting time and energy beating yourself up for slips and blips. Think all of us identify with that syndrome, but I’ve found with the BSD it is so much easier to just get on track again the next day. We all need to be kind to ourselves and forgive ourselves when we err – we are human after all!
Best of luck everyone for great results at next weigh-in.
You’ll get through it csmcnevin and before you know it you’ll be forgetting to eat because you’re not hungry!
It really does get easier the longer you do it, just give your body time to adjust and acclimatise to it’s new fuel.
I’m two weeks in and have lost a little over a stone. I weigh myself every morning (a good motivator to what’s going to happen throughout the day!) and take blood glucose, waist and chest measurements once a week. I think measurements are very important because without them theres no numbers to backup all the effort you’re putting in. Sure, in a week or so your clothes will feel looser but I for one need to know something is actually happening the day after because the process is all largely unseen.
The most difficult thing for me was changing my attitude towards fats as in… eating it without the guilt! My problem before was that the fat generally came with a load of carbs. (love fast food, bread, potatoes but still waiting to not want it!!)
You’ll do it and theres loads of support here ๐
My hubby is also watching the footie but to be truthful I am also a closet fan! However I do get bored with it quite quickly, prefer the rough and tumble of rugby and much better eye candy! Very sexist of me but who cares.
Made prawn stir fry tonight with pak choi, mange tout, sugar snap peas, peppers, mushrooms, onion, courgetti, garlic, ginger, chilli and soy sauce. Calorie count less than 200.
Lucia you must work for some Dickensian company doing the hours that you do, I can thoroughly recommend retirement which I did at 56, went back about 3 months later and do about 12 hours a week and just work when it suits me on the nurse bank. After almost 38 years in the nhs felt it was time for some down time and lots of travel as I am a sun worshiper๐๐๐
Hi Bill
I did my blood before lunch today, by coincidence and it was 9 something. I have had mayonnaise for the last few days and more protein. Before this diet I had already been pudding, chocolate and sweets free and always eat ready meals that were less than 10g of Sugar per hundred. I gave up take aways and had home made sweet and sour made with sweetener. The only thing I did that is different to this diet is that I had a sandwich and crisps for lunch and I had either potatoes, rice or pasta with my main meal. I also didn’t eat breakfast just had a cup of coffee instead. That was the way I ate since 2009 when I was diagnosed.
I am not avoiding fat, I just don’t seem to be eating much. It’s the funeral tomorrow so I’ll have a shake made with water in the morning and hummus with veg for tea and just eat the Tatie pot and trifle at the funeral tea and take the hit the day after!
The food industry are the biggest crooks of all. They’ve had the whole world duped! Hopefully the next time you see your aunt and uncle you will be looking both healthier and chilled out with all your new food knowledge!
I’ve had a pretty successful 8 weeks whilst eating porage for breakfast most days.
25g porage and made with water (try it – it really is OK – add a little cinnamon, half a dozen raisins and a 1/4 teaspoon of honey)
It must be proper rolled oats (as in Quaker “Old Fashioned”) and not instant.
The carbs are slow release and keep hunger away until luchtime.
