Mariet yes it has been humid & sticky! I went for a walk yesterday from about 8.30am and had to head back earlier than planned as I was too hot and uncomfortable, so I left this morning at 7am which was definitely better, but on my way home at 8am the humidity was building and I was glad I wasn’t just setting out. Humidity is so draining, I don’t sleep very well in this weather, and it definitely makes my joint pain worse.
Note to some of our newcomers to this thread – Mariet and I live in Australia so it’s mid-summer here 🙂I’m having a good Day 1 so far. I weighed myself yesterday and had put on 1.2kg In 10 days over Xmas & New Year, so starting weight is 91.1. Not too bad really and a whole 10kg less than this time last year.
I had Cheese on toast for a late breakfast at 10.30am – made with high protein, low carb bread. The brand I buy has 7g carbs and 157 calories for 2 slices, so it fits in to my 50g carb allowance. Then I had some salad for lunch – just boiled egg, ham, olives, tomato, lettuce and cucumber. For dinner tonight I’m most likely going to have lentil curry as I have some leftover in the fridge.
My daughters gave me some lovely flavoured teas for Christmas (as well as some gin cocktail tea bags lol – keeping those for Easter). I’m finding they are a good option when I feel like something sweet.
Hope everyone else is doing well 🙂

Well done for Day One! Thinking back to my very early days when all this was new, I felt very uncertain and convinced I’d “fail”. I just could not believe it when I started losing weight quite quickly.
I managed the thinking about food thing by building in snacks. Not strictly on plan I know, but it worked for me. At the time I had a very intense job in a school, and breaks and lunches were full of potential bad food choices! Also, because the job was stressful, I’d hit the wine as soon as I got home.
So I got into an initial routine of scrambled egg for breakfast then would take hummus and veg for mid morning break – avoiding the cakes on the staff room! I’d have soup for lunch then a few almonds at the end of the school day. I’d then get home a couple of hours later and make dinner straight away to avoid further snacking. And go to bed early for the same reasons! After a few days adjusting to this I was fine and not craving food any more – so cut out the mid-morning/afternoon snacks.
But each to their own, and you’ll find your own way through. What I personally felt in the early days was that because it’s a high protein/fat diet you don’t actually get that hungry; it’s more a case of breaking bad eating habits and forming new ones.
Good luck! And let us know how you’re getting on any questions just ask X

Lovely to see so many old and new names on our 100 day trip 🙂
Today I steeled myself to weigh and measure and I am back where I was in September, at my last reboot that derailed and went nowhere 🙁 Still, I am actually encouraged by that because I thought it was worse.
Got up early this morning and went for an hour long walk, today is forecast to be another hot and sticky one and I have a virtuous feeling now that it’s done. It was already sticky ay 6.30. I have always enjoyed walking but not going to lie, it felt like a chore today.
I am halfway through MM’s Keto book and enjoying it though it is not so very different from what I was doing on BSD which was where I started nearly 5 years ago. I am encouraged by the emphasis placed on the time after the initial weight loss though, I floundered with maintenance last time and this structured path out will suit me I think. But that is looking a long way ahead.
That’s my check in done! I am going to try to post more often this time around, for accountability and the support of the forum. Good luck to all 🙂 -

First day back on plan complete
I had coconut chia pudding and some nuts for lunch, and chicken wrapped in Serrano ham with sprouts, broccoli and carrots and a sauce made with a tiny bit of Marsala wine for tea. Ending the day on 21g carbs and 787 calories, feeling ok so far but it’s always day 2 or 3 for me I end up feeling awful!!

I will start a new list of contributors at the end of the week and keep it updated .

Hi Linda and Yowzer and welcome on board! I start tomorrow and am so excited 😀
Will keep you posted on my foray into soup making! Tbh I’m not any kind of domestic goddess, and most previous attempts at soup have ended up either as very watery liquid or gloopy paste 🙀 I tend to buy cartons such as Covent Garden but not only are they expensive but I know they have all kinds of additives in them. So I’m hoping that this soup maker – which in theory you just throw in everything from raw and come out with wonderful soup 20 minutes later – might do the trick. Who knows ……
Lovely to see so many on here and I have set myself an initial target of 2lb off this week. Here we go 👍
-
Yowzer I so hope you’re right! Must admit there does seem like there’s more optimism in the air …. fingers crossed our hopes aren’t dashed! Enjoy your trip and roll on Christmas no:2!
🧄🌶🍽 Lovely curry last night. Last takeaway. Starting anew from tomorrow ….ready, steady, goooooo….
📕👓📕 Almost finished MM’s new book even though it’s audible it’s interesting. Not sure I would need to refer back to it in rather future though. Think I might return it for another audible book.
📖🖋🗒 Today has been a day of ‘planning’ ready to start ‘proper’ low carbing again tomorrow. Just about to weigh my cauliflower and broccoli for mash so I can work out the ‘cost’ of each portion. Think I need to be prepared to be horrified by the amounts I have ‘really’ been eating.
Tomorrow is another day, a clean sheet and a new start.
This holiday period seems to have been never ending, so looking forward to some ‘normality’ tomorrow! Have a nice evening. -

Wendy I have downloaded the Obesity Code and am looking forward to reading it Ty for the heads up.
My eye is still red, maybe a bit better, so it’s going to take time.
New Year’s Day and yesterday not so good, so I am planning an 800 cal week to shift the 3lbs I have gained then back on the 5:2. Meals all planned and shipped for. Trying hard to up the water intake 🥛 -
Hello. Good to see some new starters joining in … enjoy your journey.
Well I’ve almost finished listening to the new book and am really interested to know what others think about it, especially those who started with the original Fast 800.
Caron kind words , thank you, but I’m no light to be following at the moment I’d probably be guiding people to the edge of precipice! Have you tried FatSecret? You can add anything to the database as long as you have the macros. I also find it quite good for adding my own recipes although I’ve not been doing that for ages …. Guilty of guestimating I’m afraid!
Linda I’m with you when it comes to soup makers. Like you I make huge pans of soup and freeze for later. I thought ‘soup maker’ great, I can make soup as we need it. So I ordered one, it arrived, I read the instructions, packed it back into its box and sent it back! I was so surprised that the ingredients all had to be weighted out precisely, and the recipes followed to the letter just to make a few portions of soup. And then of course the cleaning! They are probably good if you don’t already make soups. It just seemed like far more work to me. Anyway, horses for courses but I know for me it would have been used once then found its way to the back of a cupboard!
I’m starting tomorrow as Tuesday has been my traditional weigh-in day. Today I’ve started to plan. I think, no I know, my biggest problem has been portion size. I really don’t eat simple carbs but I no longer weigh my food and I know I eat far too much, even if it is the good stuff.
So back to the beginning …. weigh all ingredients, portion out and work out the macros ….. easy!
Feeling full of enthusiasm from all your posts, thank you. -
Just a quick one for now..CARONL..glad to hear yr pains receding..backache is sooo miserable!

Hi All,
It’s GREAT to see some new posters on this thread & some new oldies too that have been on/off the diet for 5yrs. I’ve only been on it since March 2021 but have already gone into diabetic remission. Had my HbA1c done 21st December & although I’ve taken 1 month+ off the diet & been REALLY bad my BS are still ‘normal’ YAY! The 1m+ off the diet has meant I’m now putting on weight around my middle, which really isn’t good so I need to get back onto the diet pretty soon. Had the 800 keto diet book & am slowly making my way through it ready for the start again of the diet next week. Don’t know yet if we’ll do the BSD or this new 800 keto – I suspect we’ll do a mix of both as hubby has been told to up his protein & reading the book it looks as if all us oldies need to do this also.DCT – I looked at a soup-maker BUT I tend to throw everything in & don’t do recipes. Cauli leaves & broccoli stalks are the basics plus parsnips, carrots, lentils & some cheap cream cheese if it’s in the fridge. Also I often make 2+ litres at a time – we have HUGE mugs that have got to be 600ml+ & I have some BIG saucepans that vacuum seal the lids to make them safe for a helping the following day. I just use a hand blender to smooth out the lumps – got a 600W new one from Asda at just £12 & it’s brilliant, far better than my old one.
It’s Hi All & Bye all until next week when I join you properly.

Thanks Dreamscometrue, I’ve read the book and done a menu plan (although had to keep changing it as Ocado seem to be low on all stock and not a chicken breast to be seen!😂)
Today is the first day and so far so good! One of my biggest issues is constantly thinking about food when I’m dieting which usually leads to my downfall.
I’m hoping that meal planning will help. -
Welcome Rob N and Jax61 – lovely to see some more new faces! Rob what a great 50th birthday present it would be to yourself to get to the weight you want to be 👏 And Jax your cycling trip (and India) sounds like an amazing motivator. You can do this!!
Great to see you here too Dawn and we are united in our desire to lose weight from the middle. I measured myself – waist, belly and hips – today for the first time in a long time and was shocked! 🙀 No wonder my clothes are tight or not even fitting at all. Time for change definitely.
My new MM book has just arrived so I’m really excited to read that today AND have just ordered a new soup maker (meant to be the number one gadget in the UK at the moment?!) to help with making healthy soups for winter lunches.
Good luck everyone! It’s great to be in such lovely company. Let’s do this 😀

Hi All
I am delighted to see that you have set up this thread having followed your countdown to Xmas thread. I have dipped in and out of the fast 800 diet for a few years but have never stuck to it long term. I started yesterday and weighed in at 182lbs which is the heaviest I have ever been. The weight has also settled around my stomach now which is new for me and I guess age related (60). I would like to lose 2 1/2 stone as (covid allowing) I am planning a long trip to India early next year and carrying excess weight in a hot country is not ideal. I need to lose 2 stone to get to a healthy weight. Shorter term, I am cycling the Coast to Coast Way of the Roses route (Bridlington to Morecombe) in early May so 100 days is ideal to get leaner and fitter. I will have to work out how I can fuel myself on active days as I’m not sure I will manage training rides in the hills of Devon on 800 cals. I guess I need to make sure I up my protein and fat for these rides. I am sooo looking forward to feeling comfortable in my clothes again….I rarely look in the mirror these days as I would rather avoid ! Onwards and upwards and good luck to all…we can do it!! -
I am new to the forum, looking for some inspiration. I have lurked a bit.
I would like to join you. I did a fast 800/ 18:6 diet last year for 6 months and then the summer holiday came and since then it’s gradually gone belly up! It’s not all bad though.
I am 50 in June and am ready for another try.
I have avoided scales lately but will start on Tuesday 4th.
I am pleased to have some company this time. -
Hi all and welcome Dawn. I am really looking forward to making this journey together. And lovely to see so many familiar names. Verano, you are one of my guiding lights from when I started, and I have loved your insights over the years.
I had a good start yesterday: ff yoghurt with berries and a few almonds: smoked trout, salad and mustard vinaigrette for lunch: 2 egg mushroom omelette for supper. I was quite hungry in the evening, and had a black decaf coffee. That did the trick – and reminded me that “hunger” (at least in our privileged world) really does go away if you ignore it.
Sharp eyes will notice no measurements yet: I am just going on experience for portion size and food choices for the moment. And will get stricter in a while if weight loss doesn’t happen. I feel a bit hampered by the demise of SparkPeople for my food diary and carb counting, and haven’t found a good replacement yet. I need a counter where you can easily put in your favourites, and preferably international enough to have Dutch products. Hmmm.
Have a good day everyone. -

on 3 Jan 2022 at 08:14 in Welcome to the BSDYBR
Glad you’ve made a plan.
Yogurt …. best look for Greek Yogurt with either 5 or 10% fat. Some of the brands I’ve tried are….
Total Fage 5%
Tim’s Dairy, Lancashire Farm, Aldi and Lidl own brands, others are available ! Check for ‘Greek’ rather than ‘Greek Style’.
I wouldn’t worry too much about the odd stick cube because most of them have less than 1g of carbs per 100ml made up and when you divide the carbs by the number of portions they become negligible.
I’d check on the squash you’re using. Sweeteners tend to fool your body into thinking it’s getting ‘sugar’ so best to stay away from anything with sweeteners if you can.
Best of luck! -

on 3 Jan 2022 at 07:21 in Welcome to the BSDI’ve now a plan to start properly on Epiphany (6th Jan) which gives us all a bit of time to finish the Christmas Pud/Cake/Mince pies and normal activities to resume. Breakfast and Lunch are switched already, and I’m drinking squash instead of fruit juice because I’ll pour out a pint at a time and even watered down …
I’m working on my husband, who does all the shopping and cooks dinners. Last time I asked for healthy full-fat Yoghurt and he’s bought low-fat sweetened (with sugar) for me and corner yoghurt with chocolate bits for the kids! He tells me that there’s nothing full-fat available. Are there any brands to look out for?
We also talked about the bolognaise we have fairly frequently and he was shocked to discover the ingredients of vege OXO cubes – top ingredients: dried glucose , potato starch! Again, are there better alternatives anyone can suggest? -
Hello everyone and thanks to DCT for setting up this new thread.I’m definitely on board for the 100 day journey.I’m starting today, see you are too Cathy, weighed myself and I need to lose 34 pounds (I’ve basically put on everything I lost)to get down to what I think will be my goal.I would like to lose 6 inches off my waist too.I don’t know whether that is doable by Easter but I intend to get a big chunk of it off anyway. I’m in the middle of reading the new fast800 Keto book and am going to spend part of today looking at my old MFP food plans to get ideas from days I managed to stay at 50g carb and 50g protein. I’m relieved to be starting this again as have had too long off plan and feel really rough, the discomfort of a kidney stone for a couple of days last week has added to my renewed enthusiasm for better health and the importance of me drinking more water! My middle is now ginormous compared to the rest of my body but I know from when I first followed the fast800 in March 2019 that I can drastically change that (I lost 18lb in 6 weeks, mainly from my middle). So my plan is to start today, stick to the fast800 keto plan, fill in a daily food plan and try to fit a bit of exercise in.I know that the support of you lovely people will be a massive help.Good luck everyone🙂 Dawn X

on 2 Jan 2022 at 23:26 in Fast 800Thanks Wendy, I haven’t read the obesity code yet must put it on my list, got the new fast 800 coming tomorrow hopefully give me some more motivation and ordered the journal too just to help.
I think it’s this time of year, wet and miserable so personally I want warm foods not salad, for lunch I’ll have left overs from dinner, can even take that to work if you’ve got access to a microwave.
Roast veg are nice cold too with sausages or chicken.
Lettuce wraps, chicken Caesar salad, erm think that’s me out of ideas 🙂
That’s a fantastic achievement tulip, well done!
Reasonable day today, although made a mistake of eating a banana this morning and then it seemed we’d only got highish carb veg in, but overall wasn’t a right off but higher than I’d of liked but shop ordered and tomorrows a new day.
Have a great new day tomorrow all xx -
Hello everyone
It’s fantastic to a see so many people I know from my time on the forum joining in our 100 day journey. This is going to be a fabulous journey for us all. I am starting tomorrow 3rd January and feel focused and determined. It’s going to be a difficult transition into keto after two weeks of eating all the wrong foods but by Friday I should be firmly in ketosis and I will be weighing every Friday. I am looking forward to eating a healthy diet and so looking forward to seeing how we all get on over the next few weeks. 100 days to make a massive difference. We will do it! There is a lot of experience on this thread and there will be a lot of support and help along the way. I am so thankful to many of you for your kindness and help and advice over the last few years. We all have so much in common- we have all lost weight with this way of eating and we have all kept going despite a few ups and downs and here we all are as determined and as hopeful as when we first embarked on our original blood sugar diet journey. I remember being so excited in 2017 when I first found out about this way of eating and hoping that it would work for me after trying various other “diets” for years. I lost 42 lb! I was so happy. I feel as excited today to start this 100 day journey and am excited to see how we all progress and am ready to get rid of the excess 14 lb I have accumulated over the last couple of difficult years.
Good luck everyone. Let’s do this together. I am sure there will be many more passengers joining our journey this week…All aboard.

on 2 Jan 2022 at 22:39 in Fast 800I posted earlier and it seems to have disappeared, maybe I wasn’t logged in or something!
I need help or encouragement or tough love or anything! I keep trying to get back on track properly, I know this is the only plan that works for me and I know I can do it, but carb flu keeps tripping me up – I seem to have lost the resolve and willpower I had before and can’t power through it, I feel simply dreadful whenever I quit carbs and nothing seems to help so I know it’s a case of powering through but I seem to have lost my mojo.
I’m 14 weeks from my wedding and 8 weeks from my first fitting, I’ve tried my dress on today and it JUST fits but not well, so I reckon I need to lose at least a stone in 8 weeks to fit in, 1.5 if possible. So I’m starting once again tomorrow, I’m going to do 16/8 so won’t need breakfast, dinners are fine – never had a problem thinking of dinner ideas but I am so stuck for lunch ideas, so hit me with it!! I HATE soup and I’m not keen on eggs at all which makes it challenging!! I also only like salad if it tastes or NOTHING – so no rocket, peppery leaves, endive etc.
Give me all the ideas!! I need your help lovely forum buddies xx

Hi reading all you posts makes me realise I have to take my head out of the sand!
My story is so similar to your stories.
I began my journey in July 2016. My first two years saw losses, third year I put back half of my total loss, then a tiny loss in 2019, 2020 saw a gain of 7lbs and this year is ‘even steven’s’ again. Despite this my HbA1c has remained in the normal range .But I need to get real.
It’s time I stopped fooling myself that because my BS is under control everything is fine … it isn’t. I need to lose weight so need to get back to planning, weighing and recording. That worked in the past. I have looked at MFP again but I think I might go back to Fat Secret because I find changing the weights etc. is easier.
I’m not making a weight loss ‘goal’ I’m just wanting to get back, firstly to my original 10% weight loss, then add another 5% and then another 5%.
I’m listening to MM’s new book on audible at the moment and finding it quite interesting …. more emphasis on protein and keto , protein >50g a day, <50g carbs and 800 to 900 calories a day but 1000 if you’re feeling really hungry. I haven’t finished the book yet but overall the ‘eating plan’ seems to be slightly more ‘relaxed’.
I’d love to join your journey please, and travel with like-minded people, and maybe have some fun along the way, but, more importantly end this year in a better place than we started. -
🎉🥳🎉 Happy New Year …. May 2022 bring only good things to us all. 🎉🥳🎉
Hope the year is off to a good start for everyone and that you’re beginning to rake in plenty of positives. Here are a few from my little corner ….
🎊 saw on the new year peacefully, just OH and myself … lovely evening 🥂🍾
🙂 time with family … no more need be said 🙂
🎉 the festive season is over and looking ahead to the coming year is now the order if the day.
🙂 happy to have the planning, cooking and eating of festive good behind me! -
Hi caronl. I remember you from an earlier thread so it’s great to see you back again. I have very similar “why’s” to you as well. The weight I’ve put back on recently has gone straight round the belly. From a health point of view this is the worst place for it. Not only that, but it means some of my clothes are getting tight round the waist, and a couple of things I bought recently and had hoped to get into by Christmas still don’t fit. So for all those reasons, the weight gain needs to go!
Hello ddraig_goch as well and welcome! I’m so impressed by your huge weight loss and am convinced you will meet your target for 2022. Look forward to sharing the journey with you. Good luck with your canicross preparation too. I want to get back into running (although am still a relative beginner). But I can’t run with my dog at all – he just doesn’t get it and wants to jump at me. I think we’d both end up on the ground in no time 😀

I would like to join your 100 day journey starting from tomorrow. I have have been following low carb and no sugar (except for the odd can of Guinness) since 2013 and whilst I lost nearly 7st initially it has slowly been creeping back on so I’m now nearly 4st overweight. I am so excited to have found the fast 800 keto book as I have been trying to merge the two plans for sometime without success. Coming back to the forum after a long absence, I have also discovered today that keto sticks aren’t accurate. I’ve never had success with them after the first couple of weeks so assumed that even with sticking to 10% carb intake I couldn’t stay in ketosis. Reading the forum I now know why and have ordered my AT6000 breathalyser, so thank guys. For me the fasting part is easy but in trying to keep in keto the 800 cals haven’t been. Now I have renewed optimism that by Easter I shall have gone from 200lb to 158lb and be ready to run a canicross 10k Easter weekend. Good luck everyone with your own personal goals. I hope they get fulfilled.

Hi all and happy 20221
Positives from me:
1) I can put my left sock and shoe on again – unassisted. 5 days of awful back pain are receding. It has been a real wake up call on one of the reasons for getting to a healthy weight again.
2) Our latest guest dog has arrived – totally cute 31/2 month blonde labrador. She stays for 10 days and will keep us on our toes.
3) Indoor daffodils are blooming. Winter jasmine is out in the garden, and a lot of bulbs are already showing through. I hope they don’t get a nasty shock when this mild spell passes. But nice to see the days getting longer, and feeling that spring is getting closer.Have a lovely Sunday one and all.

Hello DCT, Mariet, Cathy, Sue and Arcticfox,
Well I have forgotten which of your buses I fell off! I first started here in the Autumn of 2017 and got to goal by Easter 2018. Most (but thankfully not all) of the discarded kilos are back, along with the health problems they cause. Of course the kilos didn’t arrive of their own accord….. I let carbs creep up on me, with the occasional glass of wine. And Covid comfort eating. So here I am and raring to go. My goal is to lose 10 kilos by Easter. I want to make each of the 100 days count. My “why-s:” (JGwen are you there?x) are my health, and the wardrobe of slimmer clothes just waiting for me to enjoy again! I have to believe this is not another false start, and will now immerse myself in low carb/low sugar You tube videos! Very best wishes to you all, and others who join us.

Hi onestepatatime.
How are you getting on with the book? Mine arrives tomorrow and I’m really looking forward to it. I always find Michael Mosley’s books to be inspiring. I started with the Blood Sugar Diet book back in 2017 and have followed his ways of eating (on and off I admit!) since then, losing weight and gaining friends along the way.
It’s really helpful to get involved with one or more threads on the forum. You’ll find like-minded people who can support you as you do this together, whether that’s cheering you on on a good day or empathising when things don’t go to plan! I was a bit hesitant at first, as I was convinced everyone else would be able to stick to it apart from me 🙃 But it can really help you to keep going and realise pretty much everyone else feels just the same too.
Good luck! As Verano said, there is a fabulous weekly thread with some lovely people on it which is great for working at short term goals. A group of us are also doing a longer 100 day challenge over on the Easter Journey thread which you’d be very welcome to join in with.
Keep us posted as to how you get on! X

Hello Cathy, Sue, Arcticfox and Mariet! Happy New Year and I’m so pleased you are up for this journey too. I feel a real sense of optimism about this, and hope it will turn out to be justified.
Arcticfox I remember your name from previous threads, and it’s great to see you on here. I’m fascinated by the lifestyle you describe, and hope to hear more throughout our journey. I really hope that 2022 will be a much better – and less stressful – year for you.
Mariet I hear you about those photos. I cringe at some of the recent ones of me. You know the sort . . . you go out thinking you look ok then see a photo which looks completely different 🙀
Cathy and Sue, it’s great to be on another thread together again. I really can’t believe it’s been 5 years! But despite all the many ups and downs it’s been fun travelling with you and let’s hope this is the year we finally nail it!
My new Michael Mosley book arrives tomorrow and am hoping it will give me plenty of fresh inspiration and ideas. I’ll then spend some time recipe planning and also setting up a new spreadsheet with mini targets on it ready to get going on Tuesday. Bring it on!
Hope that lots more will join. If you’re reading this, do hop on board 😀

DCT, thanks for setting up the thread. I am here again, sigh, after going AWOL on the Countdown to Christmas thread. I have just got home from a week camping, food-wise no problem but wine, yes problem! This is going to be my biggest stumbling block going forward. Next month will be my five year anniversary on this WOE and I would dearly love to be back in the 60-70kg range. I would still be overweight but not by much and when I got to goal last time I looked very gaunt so happy to settle for a few kilos over.
I have not weighed myself for weeks and I’m going to leave it a few days. It was very hot and humid where I was camping and my feet and legs are really swollen. It would be so demoralising to find out the figure just now!
I’m all prepped and I’m starting right now! Luckily I have some recent photos that shocked the hell out of me to help with motivation- I am so shallow that vanity has always been stronger than the desire for good health 😁 -

on 1 Jan 2022 at 20:54 in Fast 800Woah, just seen that it’s only 6.5 weeks until my birthday, where I have set myself a goal to lose 14 lbs- I just need to tap into that resolve I started out on my 45 lb weight loss goal…which I smashed! Hmmmm, resolve, resolve, where are you?! I have just finished a novel so will give the Fast 800 another read next.
Love to all, Lauren and Elle-Mae, hope you are ok!!
Good to hear everyone’s news, OneStep, ArcticFox.xxx

No matter how long it takes you to readjust, you just follow your own rhythm but I hope you pop in on the weekly thread now and again to give us your news and so we know you are OK.

Hi DCT, Cathy and SueBlue – I’d like to join you, if I may. I started a bit later than you, in October 2017. I had some good success up until a major riding accident in 2018. Head injury, vertigo and pain meant that my impulse control went out the window. Then peri-menopause kicked in and I was having huge problems losing weight as well as maintaining decent iron status. I’ve had some spurts of getting back in control, but then it falls apart again, usually due to a major stressor. In the past 18 months it has been moving to a new town and moving from a flat to a farm, followed by 2 major natural disasters. I work partially on emergency response (not my normal job, but I get pulled in when they need more people helping), so in addition to being directly affected, I have been working long hours to support others. So here is hoping for a better and less stressful 2022!
SueBlue – my initial goal was 75kg, but I would honestly be really pleased with 80kg at this point. I haven’t weighed myself yet but I’m sure to be over 100kg at this point, so not sure I can make 80kg by Easter, but it’s a good target to aim for. I know I have put on a ton of muscle in the past year. I’m so much stronger than I was before I bought my farm, so I know the weight gain is not all fat, but a good portion of fat has gone on too.
DCT – having an organizational period sounds like a plan. I’m going to do a deep clean on my kitchen today and do an inventory of my store cupboard. I know I have a packet of konjac noodles somewhere in there. Lots of good veggies in the freezer that need eating as well. As we get into the end of Feb or early Mar, I should be able to access the veggies in my polytunnel. It is frozen shut right now and covered in more than 30cm of snow. But I hope the snow has insulated things from the sub -30 C temps we had last week!
Cathy – I have worn out my jeans over the last year. I want to get some new ones, but would be lovely to get them in a smaller size. I’m sure we can at least reach the goal of being a smaller size or two by Easter! -

on 1 Jan 2022 at 18:37 in Fast 800Happy New Year everyone! 2021 was just an awful year for me, so here’s hoping 2022 will be much better and I can have a hope at getting back on track. Having the horses at home meant that I wasn’t running back and forth to a livery all holiday, so I was able to enjoy Christmas with my family. First time we’ve all been together in 2 years. Even my sister who lives 6 hours away was able to join us this year. The major highways are still largely closed, except to commercial traffic, but she was able to fly. She was lucky and managed to get home before omicron started to really take off. We’re headed into more of a lockdown now again, but luckily they announced yesterday that they are accelerating the booster program, so I should be eligible next week.
Unfortunately, I did eat a huge amount of carbs over the holiday as that was what was available. I’ve been quite off piste for the last several months anyway, but was just starting to be a bit better diet-wise when I had the week off work before Christmas. But ready to start over again now. The redeeming thing is that we had a big dump of snow on Christmas Eve and all through Christmas day, so I was shovelling snow the whole time and burning a ton of calories in the process. It’s also been as cold as -34 C, so I’ve been having to run buckets of warm water from the house out to the horses, and that takes quite a bit of effort as well. Warmed up to -20 this morning though, so that has made things a bit easier.
I’ll check in here on the new thread from time to time, I think, but I also think I’m going to join the Countdown to Easter thread as well. I feel like it is going to take me a lot longer than one week to get fully back into things, so would be nice to have a longer term to aim for. -
Happy New Year!
Thanks for setting up this thread DCT 🙂I’m another January 2017 veteran… I can’t believe how fast those 5 years have gone, and that I’m still here!
My BSD journey started when I spotted MM’s book while shopping, I started the very next day… my start weight was 103kg (227 lb) and I lost 12kg that year. Since then my weight went up and down a bit, I call 2018-2020 my maintenance years! Then this time last year I found myself at 100.3kg and so restarted, and lost 10.4kg (I think that’s about 22lb). I’m finally overweight rather than obese 🙂
So that brings me to now, 2022, and I’d REALLY like to finish what I started 5 years ago and get down closer to the ‘normal’ weight range for my height, that’s 62-76kg from memory. Now the last time I remember being 62kg was about 30 years ago – I’d be happy to get down to 80kg (177 lb?), so that’s my 2022 goal – 80kg or bust!
So for this 100 day journey I’m going to set myself a target of 4kg. I have ordered the new Keto book and it’s due to be delivered by 3 Jan so just in time for my restart on the 4th!
Good luck everyone, let’s do this!

Happy New Year and thank you Dreamscometrue for setting up this fantastic thread. 100 days is ideal for me.
For those who don’t know me- I started the blood sugar diet like DCT in January 2017 weighing 175 lb and I did eventually manage to achieve my goal of 133 lb but struggled to maintain that weight and over the years I’ve gradually put on weight. I actually got down to 130 lbs!!! I managed to get down to 147 lb on Christmas Eve and I’ve had two weeks off plan eating what I wanted and won’t be weighing myself until Friday 9 th January- I’m probably back to square one but the journey starts again! My new MM book has arrived and I am definitely embarking on the fast 800 keto way of eating next week and my goal is to weigh 138 lb at the end of this 100 day journey.
I am looking forward to sharing my journey and am very excited to get back to my goal in 100 days! I have booked a holiday for September and I have lots of lovely clothes waiting to be worn in my summer wardrobe so this feels like the perfect time to start again. This is a fresh start and I am going to achieve my goal! -

on 1 Jan 2022 at 14:20 in Fast 800Hi Onestep ! Good to hear from you.! Don’t worry. You’re not alone in drifting off piste a bit but put it behind you and look forward to a fresh start.
Watch out for our new weekly thread beginning next Tuesday. Hope to see lots more returners ! We’re in this together folks !
