It was nice! And… bready! I haven’t tried any shop bought ones yet. But with how easy this one is, I don’t think there’ll be any need tbh. According to Elana, wrapped, it will keep a week in the fridge, so it will definitely do us all week, and probably some leftover. Might only take one actually.

Interesting Lunch experiment – I decided to have a gram flour pancake (I can’t bear the thought of planning what I’m going to eat a week in advance!), but couldn’t remember the ratio of flour to water. Having an extremely watery batter, I decided to add an egg.
Delicious – fluffier than the pancake, more substantial than an omelette. I had it with smoked salmon, cottage cheese and samphire.

Also – when I add stuff to a dinner plate, I can’t see the reading on my kitchen scales, and don’t want to create loads of washing up.
It dawned on me today that by raising the plate (can of coffee underneath, but you could use a mug or anything) and resetting to zero – I can read the scales again.
So obvious I suspect it’s what everyone else has been doing all along!

Lucky or anyone else, when everyone was discussing turnips for wedges last week saying that they took for ever to cook i have just put someone the microwave for a couple of minutes they now seem to soft to cook. So are we talking swede or turnip???? Anyway have put them in the oven will let you knowhow they turn out

Oh JOSIE .i keep getting mixed up but i’ m sure Lucky uses the small whitey purply ones ( turnip) for wedges..
She cuts them into matchsticks for fries or bigger for wedges and sprays with oil,puts in the oven.dont think she boils them first.said they turn out quite nice tho not very crispy in the case of the wedges.
swede are the big knobbly ones …good tip is putting them whole in the micro then scooping all the lovely soft insides out..saves all that hard work of peeling and chopping the big hefty blighters.
I get confused coz as a kid we only ever saw only the big knobbly ones,and everyone where i grew up called them turnips! We didnt know the word swede in context of veg! And the small white ones werent in the shops in north west England,not where i was anyhoo! X

Hiya, yes Lucky boils them first so that they are soft inside after roasting/ baking. Otherwise they are too tough to enjoy!

Evening all, glad to hear Lucky got off on holiday eventually.

This thread goes so fast I can’t keep up but I’ve skimmed all the posts, like the idea of your ‘pancake’ Frog – might have to try that.

Oh and my first weigh in today – lost a whole 7lb, so chuffed, all these recipes, ideas and stories are keeping me interested and motivated so thanks.

I’ve just had white fish (not sure what type but frozen from Asda) which I baked with lime juice, soy sauce and spring onion – a bit like one of the recipes in the book. Really enjoyed it with some stir-fried cabbage.

Thanks for the hints about the turnips – it is something I will try at some point as I quite fancy corn beef hash 😀
