Our next four weekly challenge begins on Tuesday 16th May. Please join us if you find it easier to set yourself weekly targets/aims. There is a lot of help and support and through thick and thin we are here for each other sharing our BSD journey. My personal aim for the next four weeks is to try and lose 4 lb which seems to be the most I can lose these days in four weeks but on top of that I am determined to do a YouTube walk at home video at least four times a week. My challenge is to up my level of activity over the next four weeks. Looking forward to sharing my next little journey with you – Cathy

I will be joining you again and maybe will get my mind on the fact that the holidays are over and the only thing to interfere is my family coming to visit at the end of May. That is all good as I just put my daughter on my diet and my little boys can have whatever they want. I must get back on with the exercise as, besides lots of walking, I have been very lazy in the last week. The pool is open and should be warm enough to swim in about a week of forecasted warm weather, so fingers crossed.

In a somewhat adventurous goal, I’m aiming to lose 4lb (well just over) that will get me to the 100lb off, a week or so before my birthday ( a somewhat larger figure than Natalie’s sadly). And whilst healthiness is definitely a goal, I think “sexy” may just be a step too far for me!

I’m in too. Just finished 1st week of maintenance (with 1 lb loss), so my challenge is to find the right calorie / carb level to enable me to complete the next 4 weeks (not to mention the rest of my life!!) without a gain – current weight 8st 11lbs, don’t want to drop below 8st 7lbs, but REALLY don’t want to see the 9s again after all the hard work, so upper limit 8st 13lbs.

    Good luck everyone.

The last couple of years my weight has crept up and my health has been suffering. I’m now having terrible ibs/ibd problems. Hopefully cutting out all the rubbish will help 🙂

I would love to get back into it!
Did 8 weeks starting in January then went completely awol and gained back all but 1lb of what I lost.
Absolutely no idea why I did that as I felt so good with the weight off and my clothes fitted so much better. I’ve absolutely nothing that fits comfortably now – massively tight waistbands, gaping buttons over boobs etc. Disgusted with myself but I think its time to stop beating myself up and just get back on it.
Have started today and made good choices, logging everything on Fat Secret.
I’m not going to state a specific amount I would like to shed on a weekly basis as I tend to be a slow loser – so for me, any loss will be good.
    Good luck everyone!

Initial weigh in 10 stone 11.2 pounds, so right in the middle of my ‘acceptable range’. Will be keeping up the same pattern of 1 fast day (less than 100-1000 calories depending on how I feel), 1 anything day when I can eat anything I fancy (hopefully not turning into another 3,500 calorie plus blow out like last Saturday did, trying to try everything I’d been missing), and the rest BSD style food eaten to appetite and circumstances. Alcohol only at weekends, and holidays, so another ‘long weekend’ coming up in the next few weeks, when I am going away for a night in a B&B.

Hi all. My goal for the first week of this challenge is to stay below 35g of carbs. If I can manage that for 7 days then I’m going back down to 30g, which I managed quite well a while back, but is completely eluding me at the moment.

Weight wise I’d love to lose 7lbs over the next 4 weeks. This challenge is going to be a series of 7 day ‘short, sharp, shocks’ for me and my priority is to become disciplined again …. the weight loss is important but secondary.

So here I go Day 1 of 7 ….. just need to stay under 35g of carbs today.

Good luck and have a good day.

So good luck to everyone – here’s to all of us reaching our goals over this challenge.

This is the 3rd 4 week challenge for me and I seem to be improving with each one. An 800g loss for the first, a 1.8kg loss for the 2nd. So I’m aiming for the same again, or a bit more this round.
I’ve been increasing my weekly steps from 70,000 and actually got up to 89.000 last week. So 2nd goal will be an average weekly step count of 80,000.
Third goal is to stick to an average 800 calories for 5 days a week. I’d like to say 7 but I know it won’t happen – especially after 17 weeks on BSD and also being on prednisone (which increase hunger and causes weight gain).
I’m only 800g away from my next mini goal so hoping to achieve that in the first week or 2 of this challenge.
Good luck to everyone else 🙂

Clocking in at 11.12lbs which is higher than my last challenge weight but had 2 holidays so, deep breath and lets start again.

Family arriving in 2 weeks so want to be 4lbs down. 4 weeks in is my HbA1c, not expecting an improvement on my 5.4 but want to be about the same. Will be happy with total 5lbs loss in the four weeks.

BG this morning was back down to 4.6 so still keeping on keeping on…

Hi all, happy to see known and new names here, good luck to us all for this 4 weeks.

Started at 62.2kg this morning, and here the day is ending and I did nothing about it – no planning, no accountability, nothing. The scales will not be nice in the morning.

I don’t do well with stating kg goals, I’m better with behavioral aims. I found the past week of public planning to be very helpful so:
: plan & post daily meals
: aim to remain under 900 cals and 70gms carbs
: increase awareness of starchy carbs
    : I will not nibble….. I will not nibble….. I will not nibble…..

    Wed 17th May
    B. Mixed berries, sheep’s milk yoghurt, slivered almonds, lemon&ginger tea
    L. Small salad
    D. Don’t know. Eating out tonight, shared plate, so lots of different
    dishes.
    S. None today, if I can manage that, re dinner tonight.

It’s just tipped over the witching hour here, and why am I still awake? ? Keep thinking of things that need doing today. Sshhh, don’t tell anybody, but its our 50th anniversary today. Dinner with our 2 sons, daughter in law and the 2 grandchildren. Will have a larger party later in the year to also cover OH’s 80th, #1 son’s 50th and #2 son’s 20th anniversary. A big year for us🎉🎊🎁💕

Day 1 of our new challenge and I am feeling optimistic and hopeful for a few pounds off this next couple of weeks. I don’t seem to be doing so well recently! I was hoping to be nearer to 10 stone for my holiday on 10th June but that is impossible for me in just under four weeks at the slow rate of loss I usually have. That would mean having to lose 7 lb. I am going to be exceptionally careful now this next couple of weeks and am going to do some regular exercise dvds and try and keep really positive. I am surely due to have a visit from the whoosh fairy soon as it is a fair few weeks since anything whooshed! I have been drinking copious amounts of water, fasting and keeping a careful track of what I eat. Today I have had salad with an egg and a small amount of cottage cheese. Fage yoghurt/4 strawberries and chia seeds and chick pea and spinach curry with roasted cauliflower. I have just had a cup of coffee and am planning on doing an exercise DVD in an hour or so.

This week my goal is to do an exercise dvd on four days and to try try try to lose 2lb!!! I am going to split my challenge into weekly chunks!

It is lovely to see some old friends and some new faces joining in our challenge this month. Good luck everyone.

Hi I’m back again too. My aims are behavioural as well, to stay with 800:30, keep the activity up over 10000 steps a day and continue drinking 3l water each day. Hi All ,welcome new comers and regulars. Congratulations Marsie,I can’t believe you didn’t tell me.
I’m keen to continue the meals log, as I think it helped me last week. The big loss reported yesterday gave me a real buzz and I’m really motivated. But today’s weigh in is up .5 KG .It happens every time I do well, next day I’m up. Anyway, today I’m still motivated.
Breaky coffee, milk, a little sugar
mid morning ,corn thins 2 slices of edam and coffee
Lunch salad with fetta and green tea
afternoon 20 almonds water, still hungry so corn thins with butter and salt.
dinner chicken wings, zucchini and broccoli.probably no pm snack .I ate too many nuts.
I will be over in cals but its mostly BSD friendly. My main goal is to not fill up on wrong foods and to not do any mindless eating.
target to loose at least 2 KG in this challenge.Good Luck to Everyone

I’m in a bit of a yoghurt, cheese, egg rut. I’ve bought some flax seeds and some chia seeds so am going to try to make crispbreads. Which I can cover in cheese. Hmmmmmm…!

God only knows what my problem is ..I lose steadily and quickly while I’m doing it and feel great. So why don’t I just keep going? It just seems to take one unplanned for occasion or being disorganised with having the necessary food in the house or to take to work to slip back into old, mindless habits. So I’m gonna keep up with everything on here and make sure I utilise myfitnesspal and just generally remain mindful of what I’m eating and what I’m am so desperate to achieve!!!

    Dear All,

I would like to join the four-week challenge – will be tough as it takes in my birthday (Tomorrow!!).

I have a week of heavy celebrations – experiences rather than meals. Yesterday saw Angels in America, Parts 1 & 2 at the National. Tonight I’m off to the Royal Albert Hall for Adam Ant in concert – that’s an age-giving away event. Out on my birthday to see Jude Law in Obsession at the Barbican and Friday seeing the Vanessa Bell Exhibition at the Dulwich Picture Gallery. My life is not normally this exciting, I seem to have packed the fun all into one week.

    So my aims are;
    i) to stick to the BSD principles for the next four weeks. I have been less focussed and organised and fear that I might slip back into old habits. Log my food every day – I use the diary on http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk
ii) I would also like to lose one inch from my waist. That aim appears to be in the lap of the Gods – I am exercising twice a week so I may try to up my toning/activity level to see if that can shift the midriff bulge.
iii) read this thread every day for inspiration and support, maybe even contribute!

Best of luck North or Southers!

Am in a very positive frame of mind today. Have done a two mile walking dvd and been on my vibration plate. I have ordered some resistance Thera bands so that I can start toning my arms. I have had a good day food wise- coffee for breakfast, cottage cheese, pecans and an apple (one a week- a real treat- a pink lady) for lunch and my evening meal was mushrooms cooked in butter, fried egg, quorn sausages and tender stem broccoli. My husband is away for two weeks on a Buddhist retreat so whilst he is away I am being very focused on myself and hoping that the scales show a drop this week. On Friday I am going to see Take That on my own- I am quite proud of myself for being brave enough to go to a concert alone! I have two weekly weigh days, challenge Tuesday and my official weekly weigh in is a Saturday morning. I hope to have lost 1lb on Saturday morning.

Thankyou everyone for your good wishes re or 50th anniversary. Much appreciated. Theodora, not so long for you too. BL, sorry, didn’t realise I hadn’t said anything. No secret, just not a big fuss.
A good day, phone calls from those that count, but the evening meal dining out with our family didn’t go as planned…..the dreaded lurgy hit the household of #2son and his crew so it was only #1son, OH and I sharing a most pleasant, though BSD free, evening. Tapas-style shared plates, quite filling, not huge serves, one glass of very fine bubbles and the scales this morning were the same as yesterday☺

    Plan for today:
    B. Mixed berries, sheep’s milk yoghurt, slivered almonds, L&G tea
Ĺ. Salad, all sorts, incl cheese. There’s a nice bitey cheddar in my fridge, will
    grate a small portion.
    D. Egg, Haloumie, vegs
    S. (If necessary) 5 Brazil nuts; buckwheat crackers & cheese.
So, one day at a time, and this will be within my goal of under 900/70.

Have a good day everyone. I will not nibble ……. I will not nibble ……. I will not nibble …….

Day 4 of week 1 In the voice of Yoda ” impressed I am by my commitment” , hehe hanging on like a limpet to it at the mo, I find it so easy to slip of. Weighing daily in kilos to show the tiniest loss, and going well. Oh but yesterday, thought I would have a virtuous pink lady apple 32 carbs, ooh and I was having such a good day, it took me to 926/63 my mistake for not looking it up first.

Blow it, I even made the cauliflower cheese from the big recipe book, very lush, but high in cals. I have a second portion for lunch today, yum but I knew there was a reason I never ate apples nowadays. Live and learn. Very busy physical day again today. So hoping to get plenty of steps in.

Being very mindful and remembering that all my fat summer clothes were sent to charity last summer after my 3 stone loss, that I put 2/3 rds back on, so have very little to wear when it gets warmer. Mind you here in Norfolk one minute I’m working in a coat, then short sleeves. Fortunately I spend 90% of my life in my old work clothes, my hubbie and me are working full time on restoring 3 barns, yep just the two of us, he’s a very fit slimish 60 year old, and I am 59 and carrying an 8 year old in equivalent fat. So all losses will be excellent, I will be able to move all the faster.

Hope you all have a good day. 😊🙋😊 jan

    Good morning

Day 3 of 7 …. just for today I will eat less than 35g of carbs!
That might be my mantra for this week but didn’t make it yesterday. I was feeling rather down yesterday so there was a lot of mindless eating. My calories were less than 1200 but my carbs were closer 90, 46 of which were digestive biscuits!!! There I’ve said it so now I can forget it and move on.

On the positive side I’m less than half a pound away from my next full stone lost. So really pleased about that despite the fact that this last stone has taken me nearly 3 months to lose!! Anyway, it’s onwards for me today towards my next goal, another stone but hopefully in less than three months.

Blood tests today for my review next Monday. I have lost 15k since my last one and I want to maintain that if not lose a little more over the next 4 days. Monday will be the day to discuss medication if my HbA1c is still around 37, my BG this morning was 5.2 so fingers crossed for coming off metformin or at least reducing the dose.

We had a wonderful 3 day break in a fabulous hotel last weekend. I gained 2 lbs which I thought was ok. The food was such good quality and small portions. I was very carb minded so chose carefully. So great I thought. However after 3 days since returning to BSD not an ounce has come off. It’s amazing how weight can go on so quickly and take ages to come off! I thought the scales would have given me a bit of encouragement by now. Perhaps day 4 will be the day ! X

The end of day three here and sticking to it like glue so far. Managed more than 10000 steps each day this week and that seems to be getting easier. I’m parking farther away from work and trying to get out for a walk at lunchtime, works well in fine weather 🙂 Rain forecast over the weekend though.

Tomorrow night will be a challenge, a boozy party. The food isn’t a problem it’s the sparkly stuff- not talking about water! So it will be a planned indulgence but will do my best to stay within carbs and cals.
