Meditation for me is a whole new world and my life has become so much more relaxed and I’m so much more at peace with myself and my mind. I uses very popular app and I’m sure there are many. Certainly worth a dabble!

I was reading an old letter to myself where I wrote out what I wished for myself. – This may sound bizarre, its a way of visualising what paths are available to you and spending time to think through where you see your life going. – Anyway, the good thing is that a number of the things I wished for myself are happening.

One of the things I said I was going to do was get a scrap book and cut out articles on places I wanted to visit / things I wanted to do. But now I read the newspaper online, so don’t have a hard copy that I can take cuttings from. Instead I treated myself to a pretty little notebook that I will record on a new page each ambition as it comes to me.

I was in the gym today, and I have another 3 positives from that hour.

I got a lot of pleasure just watching my lower arms change shape as I gripped and pulled / pushed on the bars for each weight machine.

The other person working out in the gym was a young man who competes in strongman competitions. He broke off from working out to get the member of staff to measure his arms and thighs. – The desperation for a good (large) reading / including taking multiple measurements looking for the largest reading just seemed so amusing when you think of how desperate we get for any downwards movement of the tape measure. (I obviously puzzled him, I was trying to work out a way of using the weight machine to build up muscles ready for carting hay bales in from the fields in a couple of weeks.)

There is a notice up in the gym that one hour in the gym is just 4.25% of our day. – Expand that out and an hour in the gym is less than 1% of our week. – But it feels so good.

While we have been located here in Bath, I have become very interested in the pitfalls of Artificial Intelligence and the damage it can do to privacy and liberty (my OH is working for an AI company so I am immersed in it in a new way).
I want to write a law journal article about what I’ve been reading — so I’m starting my aspiration journal there.
There was a good show on Aljazeera this morning called “Pre-Crime” about some of the issues — I recommend it if you can find it.

Oh JGwen you gave me a GREAT laugh comparing twp totally diverse reasons for tape measuring 🙂 My positives for today . . .
    1. Ive done quite a lot of pruning, weeding, planting and tidying in the front yard in beautiful sunshine today 🙂 New birdbath creation has been added along with some happy pansy faces 🙂 After the lawn is mowed tomorrow it will be like a (rough version) of a Botanic Garden!!!
    2. Grand-daughters (11 and 9) had a lovely night socialising with family friends on Saturday and yesterday . . . 4 days later . . . have developed chickenpox blisters. Positive in that . . .? is they were immunised as babies and this “dose of spots” is mild. Thank goodness.
    3. Am so glad I had the glorious sunshine to warm me through today . . . because at 8pm temp had already dropped to 4 (celsius) – !!! Heaven knows where it will stop around 2-3-4am!!! Glad of electric blanket when I turn in . . . and ironing has kept me warm while watching TV 🙂

We are sweltering in Bath here today — first day I have not felt like even going outside. So very very humid! I am used to heat, but not humidity — well, luckily it is supposed to be gone by tomorrow.
Wonderful sounds coming over the fence from the neighbors children running through the sprinklers!

    Hi everyone !
Yes, very hot here too but we are a bit more used to it…and it’s the school holidays so not concerned about work 😉

My little 9 year old friend is still here and I am enjoying finding activities for her which don’t involve using a screen !!! Slime and play doh, colouring, card marking ….. She wants to make a cake ..that could be a bit tricky as I don’ t have conventional flour in the house although I bet there are ideas on the low carb/keto web sites. We can also make low carb smoothes with my frozen fruit.

I also found her some neon pink crocs like mine : we are style icons 😉 😉

More positives : my eldest son is 28 today. I remember his birth as if it were yesterday ! He is well and will be in France for 3 weeks from 5th August .
Tonight we are going out to another ‘marché gourmand’ with little Charline. I will be looking for the chicken or duck again.
Feeling relaxed although a bit sticky. I keep waking up at night too so will look into the lavender options as an alternative to my Kindle !
Just a simple pleasure but I found Lavazza and Illy coffee capsules in the supermarket which taste just like the coffee we had in Sardinia !
Hope everyone is well and happy xx

WoodDuckie I share your love of happy pansy faces. They always make me smile.
    Positives today:
    1) the shade in the garden. Normally I complain, because it stops me planting some of my sun-loving favourites. But today it just feels healthy and natural in these weird conditions. 37 degrees – and we are 1 Km from the coast!
    2) sucking deep frozen raspberries and blueberries is a new pleasure.
    3) met some new neighbours, who have a puppy a few weeks older than ours. Since ours has just emerged from under the sofa after a long sleep, I had better finish here!

Have had such a productive, satisfying and achieving day 🙂
    1. Lawnmowing man arrived at the promised time and was quick to get to work . . . To save my back and shoulders, he put a bag of soil and bag of mushroom compost in my wheelbarrow for mixing , pot filling and preparation for Spring planting over the weekend.
    2. Rearranged some books, folders etc., in the office/craft room!!! which made room on one shelf for ALL the cables, leads, batteries chargers etc etc etc for cameras and computers etc to be in one box!!!!! YEAH!!!!
    3. Made another batch of “soup” from a recipe found by a friend in the grocery store BREAD AISLE (somewhere I no longer go!!!) – It is made with leek and zucchini with olive oil and a little water – in a frying pan . . . steam them down then before they get mushy, add garlic, chilli flakes – (or whatever you fancy) – until cooked. Transfer this to a bowl, add can of coconut cream or coconut milk – and same amount of water. With a handmixer or blender, whip the mix till smooth . . . I havent had this cold but I think it would be VERY tasty 🙂 Nicer the next day when flavours have had a chance to meld.
    4. Needed a top up of my mini quiche/pies which I usually make with minced beef casings on a muffin tin. With no fresh mince, today I used (2 pieces in each) shortcut bacon to line the recesses. Bacon casings make for larger quiches. When in place, I added chopped cauli, a few peas, and tiny amounts of frozen carrot, diced capsicum and brocollini – diced shallots and leek . . . Next was 5 eggs in a bowl with a little milk (or cream) – (with mince casings only 3 are necessary) – today I added curry powder, salt and pepper, and garlic to the eggs and whisked them until all was blended. After dividing this mixture between the six reservoirs . . . I added a slice of zucchini to the top – as a base for the shredded cheese topping . . . a few sprinkles of chili flakes for colour and flavour. 30 minutes later there were 6 meals for me . . . but if frozen for later, are a quick lunch/dinner if guests drop by 🙂 Can add hot vege or salad sides 🙂 Hope someone is curious or salivating enough to give these a try sometime 🙂
    5. The pansies planted out yesterday have lifted their heads overnight and Im going to do the same 🙂
Have found a use for large vanilla bottles – which are quite small . . . in the scheme of things 🙂 I have chilli flakes on one . . . garlic in another and ginger in a third . . I have filled/topped them of with olive oil – and now have my own gourmet choices of small quantities!!!! Have a good weekend all!!! Quack!!! Quack!!!

    Hello and happy Friday, friends!
    My positives today are….
    1. Working from home today which is always such a treat!
    2. New flooring has just been fitted to my new studio/den/craft room. Very pleased with the dark grey wood effect vinyl flooring!
    3. Just waiting for the guy to arrive to measure up for blinds in this room, the bedrooms and downstairs loo.
    4. DENNIS coming a5 3pm to take all the stuff from the room strip out, to the tip including my old bed base. New bedstead arriving tomorrow.
Duckie, I’ve just taken some minced steak out of the freezer as I intend to make your muffins! Love the sound of your home made infused oils! I could do that with some fresh rosemary from the garden!

Goodness me do I need to find some positives in the maelstrom of nonsense going on around us ……
    1. Despite being away I am managing to be really judicious in my choices …. well today at least!
    2. Whilst it’s been really hot in the UK we have the luxury of heat but with a sea breeze!
    3. For some reason I’ve found more opportunities in the day to post while away …. although I’m not altogether sure that’s a positive!!!
Have a good weekend and may it be full of positives

Happy belated b’day to Wendleg’s son! I found myself wondering one time, now where was my son that time I was in hospital? Then I remembered I was there giving birth to him…It’s just that you can’t imagine when they weren’t around! Your “babysitting” sessions sound fun. Kazz, always nice to have some room transformations! I too have a recent “craft room” – I discovered a certain shopping channel when I gave up full time work, thought ooh there are some nice things here, and having also had some new (and very capacious) cupboards built, and “centralised” everything, I find that I could open my own little shop. So I must really start actually making stuff! Duckie, I love pansies too! And Caro, puppies! My youngest canine ate through flexes (thankfully not live): vacuum cleaner; sewing machine, power cleaner; two lamps. And shoes….As CG said, it was really scorching yesterday! Anyhoo, positives:
    (a) it’s much cooler today;
    (b) I am wearing a T shirt, and even though I say it myself, tum and torso look much “sleeker”
    (c) I found a £20 note scrunched up in jeans pocket.
Like Verano, I hope all have a lovely weekend.

Have been feeling a bit sleep deprived, as we had to take daughter and family to airport at 02.45am, so we didn’t get to bed until 04.30am and only got about 4hrs sleep.

Anyway, that small thing aside, there are positives to report …
    1) much less humid and sticky today, so much more comfortable than it has been.
    2) got an appointment booked for the vaccinations we need for our Indian trip
    3) most recently acquired rose is in bloom for the first time. Only one flower at the moment, but really happy to see it in flower nonetheless.

Wishing you all a wonderful relaxing and BSD friendly weekend.

Hi all. The day seems to have gone in a blur! Thank you Duckie for the recipe suggestions. Once the temperature drops below 30 I might consider using the oven again!

    1) we should have a much fresher night tonight. Hooray. I’m still sleeping downstairs on a mattress on the floor to keep the pup company. So a lower temperature will definitely help the chances of a good night!
    2) Enjoyed a good catch up with a friend over iced coffee.
    3) the puppy hasn’t eaten through any wiring or shoes yet, 6turkeys. Definitely a positive.
Though parts of the sofa and curtains are on amber alert!

Caronl . . . youre most welcome . . . Welcome back Birdy 🙂 Have missed your happy chirpings. All support to you sorting yours and your hubby’s tastebud for favourites within guidelines!! With your efficient manner Im sure you will do so admirably 🙂 My Positives today . . .
    1. With my own choices and additions, I made a type of thin bread/biscuit (think Esnecca and/or Lovetocook? have shared the basic idea sometime – apologies if Ive forgotten or missed the correct donor 🙁 ) – from B&W chia seeds, LSA, psyllium husks, paleo mix and back pepper . . . soaked in water until glutinous, then flattened out “blob” with a potato masher on baking paper within the edges of a biscuit tray. Sprinkled salt on the top . . .OVen baked for around 30 minutes. Removed and flipped the mass . . . sprinkled (the now) top with sunfower seeds, sesame seeds and Garlic salt. Scored into sections then returned to the oven. Stored in an airtight container when TOTALLY cool, this is something really different to add to a meal or with a warm drink 🙂
    2. Weeded a patch of violets “leaves” – and discovered DOZENS of blooms hiding beneath the leaves! Made an old-fashioned posy with three leaves as the outside edge/backing supporting a bunch of the deep purple blooms in the centre. The crystal violet vase of yesteryear was sourced and making that . . . ? brought back loads of long ago memories . . .
    3. Fed the buxus hedge, roses, and gardenias, filled the birdbaths, straightened a wire fence which is bending below a heavy vine . . . which got cut! to retard further nuisance . . . exhaustion saw I was showered, fed and ready for bed by 5pm! Quack! Quack! from the downunder duckpond where all is well with the world!!!

Snap Duckie! I too have been out gardening today. How lovely to find all those hidden violets, they are such joyful little flowers with such a lovely perfume.Talking of perfume, I have two roses in bloom which have wonderfully heady scent, so have literally spend time today just smelling the roses!
Other positives for the day …..
    1) roses and pinks dead headed and the rambling rose has been prune back into shape. Plants fed and watered.
    2) OH has made a start on the long planned water feature. I’m excited about this, as we have been talking about it since we moved here 11yrs ago. Hoping it might be up and running in a couple of weeks.
    3) my oleander has some flower buds – can hardly wait for them to flower, as they seem to have been a long time coming. Also noticed that there seems to be some flower buds developing on my camellia too.

Hope everyone is having a good w/e packed full of positives.

Time to add some positives, which are really difficult for me to find just at the moment. Life sometimes throws curved balls ……

Ah Verano, those curved balls are a b**** when they land but you still find a way to breathe through them, well done and take care of yourself. Positive thoughts here:
*my sense of humour is intact
*a good friend came and shared the tragicomedy around her father’s death and family interactions..Mike Leigh eat your heart out we were both laughing and crying over the tales
*we’ve picked up our dog from her ‘fosterparents’ and she was very happy to see us..almost as happy as she had been to see them!

Finding positives in the face of adversity is very powerful Verano. Keep breathing in that fresh air and may the fall out from the curve ball soon dissipate. Towanda, good to have you with us posting positives and so pleased for you that your dog isn’t punishing you for leaving it with other people, as animals often do.

My positives for today are ….
    1) packed up a birthday present for a friend, ready to post out tomorrow.
    2) this morning I spent sometime watching a noisy family of young starlings on our bird feeder,, very entertaining.
    3) orchids watered and tended, so they are a bit tidier, although a couple still need to be repotted, so will need to attend to that soon.

Ah Verano. Can I join you in the curved ball zone. I am still winded from some shocking news yesterday and it is going to take a very long time to recover. But I shall follow your example in looking for the positives:
    1) Bad news can almost always be worse. (!)
    2) We have had a doggie check up and all is going well. Two new commands to teach it, which should be a good challenge.
    3) the garden is looking lovely in the sunshine – echinaceas now emerging and two hibiscuses (hibisci???) bursting to flower. So life goes on!

Oh V..Cathy..caronl…sending much love to you as these are difficult times for you .

It is essential to remain positive and I will despite people telling me today how lucky my hubby was not to have life changing injuries. Does not bear thinking about and I won’t as I watch him snooze and snore linked up to all sorts of monitors but with no serious, lasting damage. That is one major positive. Also that the magnificent sunflowers were smiling at me as I drove to the hospital today. They are so uplifting with their joyful faces.
My eldest son arrives soon..another joy to anticipate
Being in the hospital means the nuts and choc are totally out of reach. I haven’t eaten yet..at 5.30pm but the bullet proof coffee has sustained me. I need to eat my eggs when I get home.

    2) helped OH with the last bit of paving cutting, so that he can progress the water feature project.

    1. Have resisted crisp breads , chocolate and nuts so far today.
    2. Writing here I know I will continue to resist chocolate tonight and will keep my cheese consumption very low … or even resist all together!
    3. The sun is still shining and there is a lot that is well with the world.

    2) Watching the bees happily buzzing in the lavender – listening to them is very relaxing too.

Yes SunnyB, my mood was low yesterday too .Seeing hubby in hospital , in pain at times ( when they move him) , frustrated with immobility, and I think I was feeling some anger ..it all contributed and I had a cry in the car to relieve a bit of tension. The doctors saying hubby had a lucky escape as they have seen much worse , life changing injuries from falls from a lesser height is not helpful.
I send much love to those who are struggling with difficult challenges right now but insist on seeing some positives .
….Hubby will recover , even though it will take time
…..My eldest son flies out from Australia today and should be in France by Monday.
…..My sister arrives mid August and it will be good to have her company and support too
…….I have a fantastically loving, supportive family and friends on here
……I went to aqua gym last night and it was good to release a bit of tension jumping about in the pool.
……I don’t know if it is positive to say I have no appetite but I can’t seem to eat right now but I will listen to my body and respond. So no cravings…positive !

Wendy so pleased you have found positives and they are all great ones. Just one word of caution … eat!! Even if it’s only a bowl of wholesome soup, eat! You have a husband who will need looking after when he comes home and a son flying through the skies as we speak. What good will you be to anybody if you don’t keep your own strength up ! Nourish your body so that you can nourish others!

Just to say that the ‘curved ball’ has landed so will be away for a while. Take care and I’ll be back …… soon hopefully.

Oh V., I’m so sorry! Take the wonderful advice that you just gave to Wendy…I think she knows better than anyone
at the moment about those curve balls…Check in when you’re able to, knowing that support is here for you
    always! xxx

V, know that we’re with you. You’ll be missed, but understand you need this time for yourself, to deal with whatever curve ball has swooped in. Take care of yourself and come back when you feel able.
