Hello Tigger 🙂 Yes, it’s nice to be pampered, especially now that we’re not ‘spoiling’ ourselves in other ways any more. What are you fancying watching in the cinema? I’m at that sad stage where I’m getting excited over family films like ‘The secret lives of pets’ and that one with the talking cat. My husband loves ‘Frozen’. He won’t be so pleased that I’ve told you all that.
-
You aren’t on your own tigger were all there with you BSD buddies, what we going to see
-
Don’t quote me until I’ve double double checked it. Flaxseed, almond flour, salt, bicarb, cream of tartar, olive oil, water and egg.
-
No flaxseed is carby, so I think it’s misfired, oh what a pain to have to recalculate, but we love you all the more for your commitment to the cause.😊
-
No, I think it’s right. If what I have to do to work it out myself is add all the carbs up in the recipe from the packaging, and then divide it by the amount of slices in the loaf, then it comes out as under 1g a slice. Am I doing this right, anyone know?
I personally wouldn’t have said flaxseed was ‘carby’ at 0.9 per 30g? But I suppose I’m not being as regimented as a lot of people with carbs. I only used just under 90g anyway.
Just watch, it’ll probably taste like crap now.

Hi greenjanet
The weight loss is phenomenal! I’ve never known a diet quite like it, the weight just falls off and I’m not hungry😀 I’m now down to 66.5kg as of this morning, that’s a loss of 23.4kg or 51.5lbs and I want to get down to 63kg. At 5’6″, that’s low enough! It’s been raining here for the last couple of days and although it was fine today, our softball game was cancelled, so I had time to get a 2 hour walk in and go shopping for some new jeans. The ones I’ve been wearing are a size 16 and I’ve been too tight to go buy more when I knew there was more weight to lose, so I’ve just been holding them up with a belt! Seeing I’m so close, I figured today was the day. On the bright side, I’ve discovered I’m now a size 12, on the not so bright side, I couldn’t find any I liked and that fit well that were under $100 and I absolutely refuse to pay that kind of money for jeans! I’ll try the op shops on Monday I think.
It must be hard to get your steps up in a village, I’m over 23,000 steps for the day (over 16km) and there’s enough bush near where I live that I could have walked for days and not run out of tracks – and I live in the suburbs of Sydney, not in the country. We are very lucky here!
I’m off to bed shortly, have a great Saturday!
Cheers
Linda -
Bear in mind though, I’m not talking Warburtons or Hovis sized extra toastie sliced bread here! At best it’s like a disappointing flat carrot cake.
-
Wow LindaA
Amazing weight loss, you sound like you are tickled pink, that was over how many weeks, is the walking new for you or was you walking a lot before the plan. Speak tomorrow, keep up the good work.
😊 -
-
I think sometimes people see carbohydrate as the blanket enemy. It depends on the type of carb, ie low GI. Flax seed is a good guy 👍🏼
-
Hi Jan
That’s in a bit over 16 weeks. No I wasn’t walking before the plan at all. I started off walking for about 30 mins a day, then built it up a bit as each week went by. Now I can walk for about 2 hours, 3 or 4 days a week without too much trouble and on the days I work, I get up early and walk an hour before work!Amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it! Not bad for a 56 yo!!
Linda -
Hi Janey
Don’t use it, but when I looked it up 100g was 566 cals and 29 carbs, but I suppose if you use it sparingly it’s okay, but not an expenditure I want to use at the mo, trying to keep carbs below 30 at the mo. I don’t think of any food other than sugar as an enemy, it’s just for me some are more of a luxury than others.
😊 -
Jan – Linwoods Milled Organic Flaxseed – Per 100g 508 calories and 3.0g carbohydrate? From the packaging and MFP scan.
-
Hmmm interesting I took that info from MFP also
-
Might be worth checking that info out again, because it could be a good item to have on standby in the Paltrow Cupboard. You sure it wasn’t 2.9g carbs and you’ve either missed the decimal point out or the website has?
-
Linda A well that is very inspiring, I will up my walking, certainly transforms how you feel.😊
-
Thanks Lucky and greenjanet.
I have also found MFP wrong at times. The issue relates to the crowd sourced data that you can often see. It isn’t always correct and I have made a few mistakes a while back because of this. The only alternative app is mynetdiary (there is a free and pro version).
My blog link is in my profile. I have now finished typing the 2 posts for Monday. Both go live at 6am UK time. One is 3 weeks of food dishes (highlights of) and the other is an update on my journey and results for week 3.
-
Ah I looked up joeys flax seed, amazing how there can such an enormous difference, hey ho, don’t like inconsistencies, especially when we have so few cals etc
-
Gavin what’s the link for your blog
-
MFP – There was a post a while back about American posting of carbs including the grams of fibre, UK not (or something like that)
Not using anything with cup measurements sorts that out to an extent (also sounds very imprecise, I have some VERY large cups.
I often type things with the word gram at the end, both to get units I can measure and hopefully a UK measurement – stating the name of a UK supermarket as the brand helps too.
The other issue is that as the data is crowd sourced, if someone isn’t restricting carbs, they often don’t bother to record them when they make a new database entry, so I do always check that the nutritional values of foods selected on MFP look sensible. -
I HATE cup recipes, they are the bane of my life. So what I do is fill the cup, tip it into the bowl and weigh what has gone in. Hence knowing in this case precisely how many grams of each product went into the recipe. It is tiresome though, give me good old grams or even ounces anyday!
Outside in the glorious sun, up to my neck in camping stuff but on the plus side, hubby is talking about packing all the big stuff in the boot now, so I won’t be tripping over it for the next day. I’ve never seen so many spiders as is in my shed. I’m not scared of spiders and am resident spider catcher at home but even I screamed at one of them 😮
-
GAVIN look forward to reading yr data! Have just been reading Luckys and its brilliant. X!
I use netdiary..its ok but not convinced it always gets cals/ carbs right. No proof for this, just my untrusting nature.
Tells me every day i havent logged breakfast and that i shouldnt be so low cal without the advice of a nutritionist. Lovely seeing the line on the graph going down and going down quite steeply. x! Its free, doesnt bombard me with invitations to upgrade, and thats good enough for me! -
someone wrote about having a vegetable omelette with feta this morning – good suggestion, just had one with Mushroom, tomato and Feta – made a nice change, was about to cook my usual poached egg
-
Good to ring the changes FROG! Helps us stop getting bored x 👍🏻 sounds tasty! X
-
That would have been me Frog, seem to have become ‘addicted’ to feta!! Need to buy some more today – don’t want to start getting withdrawal symptoms! 😀
I would like to see Suicide Squad – just appeals as something amusing but not aimed at children. Normally watch films my daughter wants to see so be nice to watch an adult film for a change.
-
Just checked times, and prices, and think I can do something better with my time and money today. I might treat myself to the pictures during the week instead when it’s slightly cheaper.
Instead I’m going to meal plan, shop and then chill this evening and watch a film I already have – not sure which one yet. I’m having stir fry chicken tonight so just going to marinate it in lime juice and fresh ginger – hope it works out okay.
-

Oops, typo – I didn’t have needles, just the chicken I’d marinated in lime, ginger and dark soy, fried off with some red onions and mixed peppers then a load of sweetheart cabbage added at the end to just soften. I put the lid on the frying pan so it sort of steamed a bit. It was very nice and I am now stuffed!

Gavin – your blog is really encouraging, thanks for sharing the link. In terms of your current weight loss – what is the starting point ? Or if you’d prefer – how much are you aiming to lose?
I am on day 6 and my target loss is 3 and half stone.
Cheers

Lucky i remember taking 2 of my sisters and my partner on a camping holiday they were only about 8 and 10 we borrowed a tent from SIL’s Mother who was a guide leader. We arrived at the campsite they said is it a big tent we said just a ridge tent it was like a marque when we put it up we couldn’t stop laughing in the end all 6 of us slept in there. It was about 45 years ago now but it still makes me smile when i think of it.
-
Whwew i’ m exhausted GAVIN after looking at yr lovely lively fur kidz. They have soo much energy and joie de vivre. I think we all should be eating dog food, maybe we would be full of beans if we did!
What are their names? I like you have one of each colour ..they are darlings! X -
Lovely dogs Gavin – love the golden one when his running, and the aerodynamic ears – he looks like he is having so much fun
good blog too – I read it earlier in the week – but didn’t find the dogs
-
Bliss..my first apple in 2 weeks, small but tastes like nectar of the gods!
DD is drinking red wine… I’ m not tempted tho it smells lovely..she’s offered me a sip,but no – i am keeping strictly to my plan ! 🌸💕💐 ! -
well done yowzer – I don’t have the will power to exclude all wine!
And because it’s summer I’m mostly drinking white rather than red – probably have about 3 glasses a week -
wheres my lucky ??? and guess what your right on the flaxseed facts my sister in law is a dietician ( the vegan one) and i ran your recipe passed her !!
come on janey and lucky this thread getting far too sensible you need to hear all about my vegan conquest and success paltrow would be proud !!!
LUCKY i am calling you !!
JANEY i am calling you !!! -
I’m here! The mere mention of Paltrow and my ears prick up. What began delights have you discovered? (If suck things exist lol)
-
Okay, I feel I must confess – I have sinned and had 2 slices of white toast with peanut butter. I am throwing myself on your mercy and hope I can be forgiven my small sin. 😀
I had such a craving for peanut butter that I decided I would allow myself some and count the calories then forget about it. The peanut butter isn’t so bad – it’s the dreaded bread. Anyone any ideas for what I could have had my peanut butter on instead? I know Lucky’s breads sound nice so might be an option for the future.
-
Dont beat yrself up TIGGER..just enjoy it and move on..we are all only hoomin so we will slip up at times.
If it was me,i wd have peanut butter on a stick of celery..but i know lots of folk dont like it. Hope someone can come up with another suggestion x -
vegan chocolate and vegan biscuits and vegan cakes ate bloody lovely huge hit with sister in law and as a day off from BSD us too !!
like Sir michael moseley says ” create a lifestyle you can stick too , avoiding all your favourite foods and running 20 miles a day it will fail , be realistic”!!!
so today we had a good fun day with good fun people no thinking bout carbs so had good food too !! and i dont feel guilty one little bit !!!!
tomorrow i will go back to eating what i was and i wont have stressed out one little bit today !!
cos i know what i do is working and whats more this bonkers thread is helping too!!! ( thanks lucky for creating this thread!!!)
anyway paltrow was debated greatly and it is now a general consensus shes a wet blanket !!! even a vegan says so !!! -
Evening all! Been a busy one for me today but I am now both organised to the hilt for my camping trip and ready for my sister in law’s visit tomorrow. Tea was a lovely piece of steak, mushrooms and onions and if this makes you feel any better Tigger, I had a piece of cheesecake tonight 🙂 I enjoyed the cheese, but the biscuit base was far too sweet. Peanut butter on toast is a favourite of mine but always, always brown for me with PB 🙂 The bread I made today, I reckon, would be ideal for PB. It only took 5 minutes to make up and 45 to cook Tigger, so if you can get some ground flaxseed, I know Tesco have it, it’s well worth it. I’m making another two loaves tomorrow to freeze and take some camping with us. It’ll make things so much easier for us.
Tokyo! Glad to hear it, I thought I was cracking up! But I worked it out with pen and paper as well, workings out are on the blog 😉 and yes. A quick Google search shows numerous other similar breads online, and they are described as low carb or no carb. Go on then!! Vegan conquest! Ah, I see you’ve just posted it, so I’ll post this and then read it. Hehe
-
Mmmmmm LUCKY steak and onions, lovely jubbly! X do you set off tomorrow on yr next adventure? are the kids excited! Did you sat where youre camping and ive missed it? x
-
Glad you had a good day and you enjoyed your vegan goodies 🙂 I’m not stressing about my cheesecake either. I wanted a treat, it was far too sweet, I probably won’t want it again now for months. I’ve been really spot on for 8 weeks, not so much as a sip of wine, chip, crisp and tomorrow I’ll be back on the BSD wagon 🙂
You know my opinion on Paltrow. She’s a ****. And a ****. And definitely a ****.
