Thanks Cathy, I’ve been really good today, but have guests for lunch tomorrow, so a bit more of a challenge! Can’t think what I possessed me, inviting them on the last day of Round 2!! ๐Ÿ˜†

Esnecca, thanks for that, it made me laugh out loud! ๐Ÿ˜€

Glad you have the same battle with hair that I do – I like to blame it on the dogs, but sadly I suspect most of it is mine. ๐Ÿ˜œ We all have the same length and colour (grey) so difficult to tell. ๐Ÿ˜‹ But I’m going to blame the latest blip on the scales on them anyway ๐Ÿ˜œ

Clarinetcathy well done on your weight loss, and defeating the plateau !

I have one more week to go on round two of the BSD then I will be doing round 3. This one has been a slower loss than round one, but I have reintroduced alcohol and also had a holiday during this round. I have never lapsed at all on the food, but have had more wine on occasions taking me over the 800.

My total loss to date is 29 lbs. My loss so far in round two is 10 lbs. With a week to go I would love to manage 2 lbs off this next week, so planning to step up the rowing and stay off the wine !

I have a lot of weight to lose, my final goal is still a long way off with 40 lbs left to lose, but I’m only 5 lbs away from my next “mini goal” and 20 lbs away from normal BMI weight range. Two more pounds gets me under the next stone barrier !

I have dropped a dress size 18 to 16 and actually just bought a couple of things in size 14 as some of the 16s are starting to hang off me.

Seasidenana- you’re doing so well! To have lost 10 lb and had a holiday is fantastic. My holiday comes in the middle of round 3. I feel a little apprehensive but reading your post has inspired me that it can be done. Great to see that you’re dropping dress sizes too. I bought size 14 linen trousers for my holiday and because it is sunny today I put a pair on and guess what, they’re baggy round the bum so I need to get on eBay and start looking for smaller sizes! How exciting! I have probably got about 21 lb to lose still to get me into a normal BMI but am going to take it slowly and like you set up mini goals. I think it is exciting when you are heading towards he next stone down so I hope you get there this week with a 2lb loss.

    Have a good week everyone.

How lovely for you to be finding 14 clothes too big !

I now realise I bought too many clothes in a size 16 and wasted money. At the time, I was so pleased to get into them and didn’t really think it through. I think in my head I thought I would be that size for a long time and I wanted to look nice. Some of them are unworn or worn once and I’m not going have chance to wear them much longer before they are too big. Another round of eBay selling needed !

I’m going to learn from this and buy very little in a size 14. I have some size 14 stuff packed away anyway, so will try and make that do. I think I will be fully down to Size 14 in the next few weeks. At the moment I’m a small 16 I think. Sizes vary so much across makes that it’s hard to know what size will fit !

Well done to both of you, Seasidenanny and Cathy.

Ssn – I’m sure you will manage that 2lbs this week to drop you down into the next stone zone, lack of alcohol will surely do it!

It feels so good to find that clothes you have got / bought to slim down into are too big. I’ve done the same. Perhaps we all have. Started as a 16(UK) but refused to buy any 14s because I knew I wanted to get down to a 12. When I was approaching that, I blew the money I had been saving by not buying wine and bought lots of 12s. Now, just a matter of weeks later, they are too big, as are some of the 10s I bought, so am now buying 8s – never in a million years anticipated EVER getting into an 8 again!!! All the new size 12s have already been relegated to “dog-walking” (just as well they were all casual) and the jeans all have to be held up with belts. ๐Ÿ˜

What we need on here is a clothes rotation scheme ๐Ÿ˜› Then we could all have clothes which fit us as we are losing without blowing the budget until we finally reach our goal weight. โ˜บ Now wouldn’t that be a good idea? ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Hi Theodora, The shrinking body and fnding clothes to wear is a perplexing but positive problem isn’t it? By my calculations NONE of the clothes I am currently wearing will ft me in a few months in springtime – it is currently a tropical winter. I have already shrunk out of heaps and given them to charity. Fortunatelya friend of mine has a shop selling preloved good quality clothing and a lot of my clothes have ended up there also. I then take a credit to buy smaller sizes so that has been helpful in some ways. I also sew a bit and that has helped. I have made some basic but useful items and taken in some clothing where it has been simple to do so. I am budget conscious and dont want to spend big dollars on every size in the journey especially as the clothes may only fit for a short time! I love clothes, fashion etc. I spend a lot of time thinking about the gaps in my wardrobe and how to fill them.. I am currently making clothes a couple of sizes smaller for the coming spring summer. Spring and summer lasts for about 8 months here so I am bound to shrink into anything I have made a bit small while still in the warm season! Sewing takes time and I can dress on a shoestring. Bit of a rave and I am a bit obsessed with the subject, better than being obsessed with carbs etc! I find it helpful to just buy plain things and dress up with accessories, jewelery etc. If I want to splurge I buy shoes and handbags.

On another note, miso soup is my winter saviour, delicious low in cals and filling!

All the nest Theodora, I hope you don’t shrink out of size 8’s!

Well done ClarinetCathy and Seasidenana on your fantastic results.
Round 2 ended for me yesterday. I would like to say it was a great success – but it wasn’t! Lots of off plan days and weeks meant I only lost a net 800g in the 8 weeks ๐Ÿ˜ณ
But today is a new week and a new round and a new attitude for me. I’m going to start afresh and just focus on one day, one week, one goal at a time. So my first mini goal is to lose 1.5kg so that I go down into the next stone bracket – this ties in with the 4 week May challenge I’m in.
On a positive note, I’ve already mentioned some health benefits for me with BSD, and I can now add another one. I went to see my GP yesterday to get some prescriptions renewed and I asked him to check my blood pressure to see if losing weight has made any difference – I thought I could perhaps lower my dose. My blood pressure is now only slightly elevated and I no longer need to stay on blood pressure medication, after at least 8 years on it.
So although I’ve only lost about 7% of my body weight it was enough to make a difference to my BP. Doing a happy dance ๐Ÿ’ƒ
Now I just have to stay on track for Round 3! I’m using Clarinet Cathy, Seasidenana and Theodora, as well as all of the lovely posters on here, for my inspiration … or should I say thinspiration!

Congrats SueBlue! Its the medication changes that have made the most difference to me. I am on a 6 week holiday now, not being so careful although I have lost my taste for alcohol! Everything in the UK is extremely carb focused I have noticed but I have still lost another 1.5kgs in the first 2 weeks of hols so I am pretty happy. Except the jeans I brought with me are now too big. Have to buy a belt.
Still heaps of weight to lose but I’m so much happier and more positive.

SueBlue, that is great news about your blood pressure. Surely the health benefits must outweigh the weight loss in importance? In which case, your 2nd round has been a resounding success, so well done and good luck on Round 3.

Chrissie, well done on managing to lose 1.5kg whilst on holiday!! Hope I can manage such a thing when I am away for a couple of months in the summer, but won’t hold my breath as, unlike you, I most certainly haven’t lost my taste for alcohol!! I wish I had – I’m fine if I don’t have any, but once I have a glass it would appear my judgement is derailed and I have another, and sometimes another ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Enjoy rest of hols ๐Ÿ™‚

Yesterday was my last day of round 2 as well, and I was supposed to go onto maintenance today but got totally derailed yesterday (we entertained a crowd of friends for a long, leisurely lunch, though what possessed me to invite them all on my final day is beyond me) Whilst I didn’t eat any refined carb foods, I did overindulge on nuts and wine (my two big weaknesses). Although FatSecret tells me that I expended more calories than I took in, the scales are punishing me this morning with 1lb increase – and that’s on top of the 8oz (dog hair ๐Ÿ˜‰ or maybe Esnecca’s cat? ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) that I put on during our family reunion last week. So, I have decided to stick to BSD800 for one more week to see if I can shift that 1lb 8oz and embark on a controlled maintenance plan at my lowest weight.

But as this is officially my end of round 2 weigh in day, I will report that I have lost 38lbs in total (would have been almost 40lbs), which consisted of 24lbs in round 1 and 14lbs in round 2, which has far exceeded my original target of 2 stone. I have dropped 8″ from my waist, 5″ from my hips, and 4.5″ from my bust, and moved from a UK size 16 tops / 14 bottoms to a UK size 10 tops / 8 bottoms. I have lost 23% of my body weight and my BMI has dropped from 29.4 to 22. So no complaints here – apart from totally sabotaging myself yesterday!!

SueBlue your post is a lesson to us all that this journey is about so much more than losses on the scales. By following this way of life we are reducing risks with heart disease, stroke, diabetes, arthritis and a string of other things. In that list I would also include mental health because being overweight affects self esteem and can result in depression. Best of luck with your new resolve in round three.

Chrissie good news about your jeans, many of us are gathering piles of too big clothes on this thread ! I agree that the UK is very carb focussed. I do wish cafes and restauarants would offer healthier options. Some do of course, but the majority don’t. I ate in a nice pub on Saturday and had a chicken breast cooked in bacon, with a nice big dish of fresh vegetables. I just asked them not to serve me any potatos. The meal was delicious – it’s really not hard to make menus adaptable if they don’t cover everything in pastry !

Theodora your achievement is brilliant. To be honest I think you are already on maintenance because it’s about cutting back for a few days after a small gain which is what you are doing. Everyone has social occasions where they eat or drink more, even super models. The trick is to correct it straight away as you are doing.

I have worked hard over the course of this BSD to explore my weight history and work out why in the past I kept regaining weight I had lost. I have concluded that after reaching target I go into denial over the effects of any excess eating. Rather than keeping an eye on the scales and correcting any increase, I used to ignore it. I would deliberately leave smaller clothes at the back of the wardrobe, “knowing” they wouldn’t zip up, but reaching for the baggy clothes. I wasn’t acknowledging the reality. How silly ! It’s so much easier to lose 3-4 lbs recently gained than to lose 50 lbs !

I have had fluctuating weight all my life, but I’m determined that once I get to target this will never happen again.

My current target is 130lbs. Some years ago I did reach 125 lbs, but didn’t maintain it. I still have a pair of Levi’s from those days (now vintage) and I do hope to wear them again.

My final observation for today, I’m sure you have all had the same. I went out for the evening last week with some old friends wearing a nice dress. Some of these friends have not seen me for a while, so I got lots of compliments on my new figure which was nice. Then the inevitable “how much more are you going to lose” ? When I said another three stones they were astonished. Everyone said no need for that, there will be nothing left of you etc. In fact, if I reach target I will be roughly in the middle of the recommended range for my height. I don’t want to aim for the very top of that range because my frame is quite small and I know that would be too heavy for me. This kind of remark goes along with “surely you can eat chips tonight, it’s a special occasion” ” one cake won’t hurt you” etc etc

Good luck everyone, you are all stars !

Although I was a bit down about only losing 800g in Round 2 I felt better today. The specialist I saw was, in his words, amazed, that I had lost 7kg so far on this diet while on Prednisone. He said in his experience people put weight ON with cortisone, not lose it, so he was really impressed ๐Ÿ™‚

There you go then, SueBlue – we knew you had done well, you just didn’t believe it yourself, it is just too easy to compare ourselves with each other, but we are all different. . Now it’s official – you have done amazingly well ๐Ÿ™‚ Congratulations, it must be so good to have your achievement endorsed by a medical professional.

Seasidenanna, very interesting comment about me already being on maintenance, I hadn’t thought of it like that but what I am doing this week is EXACTLY my plan for maintenance – i.e. keep weighing regularly and address any small gain immediately (plus incorporating a fast day each week) – as you say, 4lbs has to be easier to lose than 40lbs, and certainly a whole lot less daunting! So very pleased to report that the small increase of the past few days’ indulgences has now gone, so feeling optimistic I can do this.

This WOE is definitely about far more than losing weight, as you say. Whilst I am neither diabetic, nor pre-diabetic and don’t suffer from high blood pressure / cholesterol or similar, I have to say that the best change over the past 16 weeks is how I feel – energetic, healthy, mentally alert, more able to cope with the stress that life throws at me (considerable at the moment ๐Ÿ™ ) and more self-confident. I LOVE the new me, and that has got to be worth giving up carbs for ๐Ÿ˜‰

Keep going girls. Together we can change the world ๐Ÿ˜‰

Great and interesting reading in the last few posts. I always enjoy coming to the Starting in January thread. There is a lot of thinspiration (great one SueBlue) on here and it’s lovely how encouraging this thread has always been. It might be because this was where my BSD journey started. I always get excited when I see an email pop up with the starting in January thread title. Am trying 16:8 during the week and it seems to be quite a lot easier than I imagined. Scales not moving much at the moment but I am not too worried. My BMI is 27.8. It was 33 when I began BSD. Would ideally Iike to lose about 21 lb more but not sure how achievable that is.

Hi Clarinetcathy I think the scales do slow down on us after a while, but they do keep moving downwards slowly even if they stick sometimes. If you want to lose another 21 lbs I see no reason why you shouldn’t be able to given enough time. I’m aiming for another 39 lbs ! That would bring me to the middle of the healthy range for my height. My GP thinks I should aim for the top of the range and be content with that, but I do have a small frame so I don’t think it would be right. I will see how I feel when I get into that range. I’m still slap bang in the middle of overweight at the moment.

Thank you to everyone on this thread for your encouragement and inspiration.

Cathy and Seasidenanna – you can both lose whatever you want to lose, you are both strong, supportive women with great motivation and you just have to keep going until you get wherever you want to be. No, of course it won’t always be easy – nothing that’s really worth achieving ever is – but the benefits will be so worth it. I know I am now on maintenance but, if you don’t mind, I fully intend to stick around and follow your journeys. Believe in yourselves – you can do it. ๐Ÿ˜˜

    Hi everyone

Long time no post but am still here! I really enjoy reading everyone’s news and always feel a ripple of excitement when I see an email notification of a new post ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m doing ok. Started my first 8-weeker in January and then moved swiftly on to my second but tbh it kind of fizzled out towards the end. Lots of social and family events entailing travel and hotels … and you know how it goes! Nevertheless I am still delighted to have lost 23lb since January. Started at 12 stone 2 and now 10 stone 7. My ultimate target is 9 stone 7 and I’d hoped to be there by now, but given all the circumstances I still feel very pleased.

In effect I’m now on maintenance: eating healthily and keeping an eye on the calories without being too rigid. This week is a horribly stressful one at work, and next week I’m working in France (beaucoup de vin rouge je pense!) but then I intend to do another 8 week 800 from end of May through to end of July, when I go on holiday. I’d love to be under 10 stone by then and ecstatic to be at target so here’s hoping! I’m also planning to boost the exercise which was going well but has foundered recently amongst all the busyness.

Well done to everyone else! I read your stories with interest, celebrate your successes and commiserate with your frustrations.

I’m also at that weird in-between wardrobe stage where my larger clothes are hanging off me, my smaller ones don’t quite fit just yet, but it’s not worth investing in new ones (at least I hope not!). So like many of you I’m cobbling odd bits and pieces together and supplementing with charity shop and eBay items. I was chuffed this week when I wore a dress for work that is now too big but in a kind of draping flattering way and had so many compliments about losing weight: I normally dress for work in baggy tops and jackets over trousers, but given that my only viable pair of trousers are now almost dropping off my bum (not a good look!) I’ve been raiding the back of the wardrobe for other options!

So I’m starting my next proper round on Monday 22nd May so if anyone wants to be Fast 800 buddies do give me a shout!

    Good luck everyone X

Dreams come true – nice to hear from you again ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve just started Round 3 so will definitely be around when you re-start on 22 May.
I’ve had a good Week 18 (or R3W1), with a 1.1kg (2.42 lb) loss – really good for me as I tend to lose under 0.5kg in a week. I’m now tantalisingly close to my next mini-goal – it’s just 0.4, or 0.88lb away. This will see me move down into the next stone bracket.
My longer term goal is to lose another 19kg after this but I’m breaking it down into 5kg goals, doesn’t seem so daunting!
I found a photo of me taken at Christmas and I couldn’t believe how big I looked! So although only about 8kg so far, I can see the difference. I’m going to start taking a monthly photo as well as weights and measurements.

Hi SueBlue. Good to hear from you and look forward to some company on our ongoing journey! Well done for your loss this week – that’s great news! Good luck with making it into the next stone bracket and I look forward to hearing that news very soon.

A monthly photo is a great idea too. I’ve been avoiding cameras for a while now because they were such a stark reminder of how much weight I had put on – you always look so much bigger even than in the mirror! But looking in the mirror now I can see the difference so maybe I’ll dare to start the photos too ๐Ÿ™‚ A couple of weeks into Round 1 I did start taking photos of my feet on the scales when there was a change. Initially this was due to the fact that I weigh myself in the bathroom first thing every morning and can’t read very well without my glasses, so the photos served as a double check. But now it has become a nice little history to look back on – particularly during those frustrating plateau times.

Hope this week goes well for you and for everyone else reading this thread. I’m off on a work trip to France tomorrow but will be back, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to report for Round 3 on Monday 22nd May ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Dreamscometrue

I’ve found work trips to France reasonably BSD-friendly as most places do a meat or fish special that you can combine with some quite decent salads or go for a seafood option giving you the chance to add a creamy accompaniment.

I’ve been out working in South Africa this week and, apart from some deeply worrying portion sizes, I’ve managed to stick within BSD principles whilst not necessarily within my Calories target. I’m in Durban, KzN but even managed to dodge the worst ingredients of the Bunny Chow.

Biltong and Droewors bought for the return trip.

    Have a good trip.

Hi Dreamscometrue, I will also be around for round three. I hope you enjoy France.

Well done on your big loss this week Sueblue. I think we all need lots of other motivations and encouragement though for the times when the scales are less kind !

I have just discovered that I’m 5’4″ and not 5’5″ as I thought ! Apparently women lose about half an inch in height every 10 years after the age of 40 ! No wonder I looked so small and dumpy at the start of this journey ! I was even more obese than I thought !

This has thrown out my previous calculations as my BMI is higher than I thought, and I need to get down to 146lbs before I’m in the “normal” band. I’m still planning to aim for 130lbs, but we will see how I feel when I get to 140.

We can do this everyone !

Seasidenana glad you’re still around too and really sympathise with you having to recalculate ๐Ÿ™ But you are doing really well on this WOE and will definitely get to where you want to be before too long. I look forward to treading the path with you!

Well done JulesMaigret for surviving your trip! The place I’ll be at in France is a training centre I’ve been to before – food is lovely (and yes, healthy) but with every meal comes the carafe of table wine and a basket of the most gorgeous bread imaginable!! I aim to partake of both in much moderation then jump right back into strict 800 once I’m back.

    Have a good week everyone!

For the first time since starting this WOE I weighed in half a pound heavier this morning at this weeks weigh in. . To be honest I thought it might be more as last night I had a few girls round for book club and I drank two large glasses of red wine, ate some healthy snacks olives, hummus, cheese and some vegetable crisps!! I also met a friend on Thursday after work for a Turkish meal and although I stayed on track, Halloumi and salad and an aubergine ๐Ÿ† dish, I know I have eaten more than usual in the last couple of days. My husband is away on a retreat for two weeks from today and I am going to try really hard to stay focused and today I did a “walk at home” YouTube video for some exercise this morning and I am going to commit to doing this regularly. I am ashamed of how little exercise I do so that is one thing I am addressing to try and boost my weight loss. Tomorrow I am meeting my son for yet another meal out and again I will be making sensible choices and hopefully boosting my weight loss with some fasting next week! This WOE does seem to be adaptable with fasting so I am hoping to be back on track losing and hope to report a loss next week despite two meals out and a boost book club last night! I did drink red wine so I think that falls into the Mediterranean plan!

Horrified to see the scales up this morning by another 1.25 lbs! That is the weight I expected to see yesterday after having two large glasses of red wine on Friday and I thought I’d got away with just half a pound! This doesn’t bode well for my holiday in four weeks! Anyway, moving on, I have done another exercise YouTube walk this morning and I am fasting until my evening meal as I have arranged to meet my son this evening. It will be feta salad and that’s for sure! Just having a coffee whilst updating my tale of woe and not WOE! Am going to be drinking copious amounts of water today because you know what, I felt a little liverish yesterday after drinking the wine and I guess I didn’t drink enough water yesterday. I broke the rules and have paid the price! Lesson learnt!

Reporting in for my official weigh in day, and pleased to report that after one week of maintenance I have lost yet another pound ๐Ÿ™‚ I have been very careful and have only increased my cals by 100 – 150 – so have not exceeded 950 this week apart from at #2 son’s birthday dinner last Wednesday, when I totally lost count of cals / carbs (but no refined ones). I also reintroduced a glass of wine a day at weekends (Fri, Sat and Sun), with no damage so far ๐Ÿ™‚ The plan is to increase my calorie allowance each week by approx. 100 per day, so this week aiming at 1000 – 1050, until I find my maintenance level.

Theodora, I think your maintenance plan is really good. Some time ago I cut and pasted a similar plan to store away until the distant day I need it ! We have always said in this thread that maintenance will be a bigger challenge than the BSD as it needs a different mindset to our pre BSD life.

I’m still managing slow but steady losses. People are being very complimentary about how I look now which is nice ! I have shrunk out of quite a lot of my bigger size 16 clothes which I’m trying to put on eBay. My current wardrobe now has quite a few size 14 (uk) clothes which fit !

I have also met someone nice in my life ! (I have been Divorced 8 years). That would never have happened before losing over 30lbs ! He knows the way I’m choosing to eat and he’s encouraging me although he says I’m fine as I am. In fact he made me a low carb meal on Saturday. ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks for your encouraging comments about my maintenance plan, although I may have to start increasing my allowance a little faster than planned as, after just 8 days on maintenance(average consumption 920 cals) I seem to have lost another 2lbs!!! ๐Ÿ˜ And those 8 days included the birthday celebration for my son when I lost count of cals / carbs (so the average mentioned is not strictly accurate, probably considerably higher) and yesterday’s indulgence in champagne and birthday cake for my granddaughter! I will give it another week on 1000 to see how it goes, but I don’t want to lose much more as I am already 9lbs under target (wanted half a stone wriggle room) and o/h tells me I am beginning to look “scrawny”!! I weighed myself this morning and scales showed a loss of a few hundred grams in the past couple of days so I’m now only 100g off my mini goal, and its enough to put me (just!) into the next stone bracket ๐Ÿ˜
So then I was converting the total kilos I’ve lost into pounds – how is this for a coincidence?
Today is 17 May, it is week 17 for me and I have now lost 17 lb (and 3 oz!).
Weight loss sounds more impressive in pounds – although I still need to lose another 19.1 kilos, which sounds more achievable than 42 pounds!

So, is my image of you correct(ish)?

SueBlue, any loss is impressive, be it in pounds or kgs. And it always feels good to drop into that next stone down bracket. Just keep on keeping on and that 19kg (42lbs) will be gone before you can say “week 18’s close enough” ๐Ÿ˜‹

Theodora thank you for the romantic image ! It’s near enough, I usually have at least two little ones holding hands though so the shoes have to go in the back pack !

Thanks Theodora, I’m just focussing on 5kg at a time as mini-goals, seems more achievable. So once I’ve lost this pesky 100g, I can start working on the next 5kg ๐Ÿ™‚

Sueblue that 100g must be a real frustration. I have gained 1.6lbs this morning for no reason at all ! Just as I was a whisker away from goal two.

Keep going everyone we will all get there xxx

Saturday weigh in and I am down 2.25 lbs this week.. Today I weigh 10.5 and a quarter! I have now lost 30lb. Slow and steady. I have been upping my exercise and have been doing YouTube exercise classes and found it really fun and hopefully a little boost towards fat burning. Three weeks to my Turkey holiday so am am going to try and get to as near to 10 stone as I can. That size 12 swimming costume has got to be worn! My aim is to get to 9 stone this year and that would put me well within a normal range. I am still overweight. This plan is a way of life now and I actually find it easy to stick to. My son is coming home next weekend to celebrate his 30th birthday. I am catering for carnivores, vegans and a low carbatarian! Have a great week everyone.

Seasidenana- lovely to read about the new man in your life. I bet you’re beaming with happiness!

Oh, well done, CCathy, for a great loss this week – that swim suit is going to look great on your holiday.

Your family sounds like my mine – a complete mix of committed carnivores, pescatarians, vegetarians, carbatarians and last week my eldest granddaughter declared that she has changed from vegetarian to vegan!! Family gatherings (for which I always seem to be the caterer) are a nightmare (foodwise)! So good luck with your catering ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi everyone!

Just back from working in France and absolutely delighted not to have put any weight on!! I have had way too much bread this week – which I never eat at home but it’s just so lovely there. Mind you, since I last went to this conference centre I have given up red meat, and their alternatives aren’t the best ๐Ÿ˜‰ So I tended to have small portions of “proper” food and fill up on bread. But I was dreading the return weigh-in and was amazed that the scales had not soared upwards! I honestly thought I would have regained most of the weight I’d lost but I guess that was a taste of maintenance: I kept within the BSD guidelines as best I could (except the major bread overdose) and it turned out ok. Phew!!

Irrespective of that I’m starting my 3rd Fast-800 tomorrow ๐Ÿ™‚ I want to lose another stone by my holiday at the end of July so my mini goals are to lose a couple of pounds a week so that I shed half a stone by 23rd June and another by 21st July. I’m currently 10 stone 7 and would like to be 9 stone 7. I know that with this diet the weight loss is not linear so it may not be as clear cut – and if necessary I’d settle for a bit less overall as long as I get below 10 stone – but that’s my aim! So here goes ….

Seaside Nana WOW – lovely to hear your news and i wish you every happiness with your new man! Will keep you company on your onward journey – and Clarinet Cathy and SueBlue also. Theodora hope you find the best maintenance balance for you. Thank you for all your inspiring posts and the warmth and humour you bring to the group!

Have a good week everyone xx

    Hi all,
I’m still here too. Getting to the end of my 6 weeks in the UK and France. Have not worried too much about dieting but it’s hard to eat what I used to, and impossible to eat as much. Haven’t weighed myself for a while but have had to move my belt in another notch which is exciting.
So happy to hear everyone’s news, and a new relationship is a very exciting thing.
Will be back on another round of 800 as soon as I get home on June 1st.
    Best wishes to you all
    xxx

Hello January starters – I was wearing size 12 trousers for work today! I have lost more fat off my bum and have gone from a tight size 16 to a size 12! The weight loss isn’t that great but the fat loss is! Am having a massive clear out of clothes that don’t fit and it feels very therapeutic getting rid of them. I have been and still am very focused on what the scales say but I do seem to have lost a lot of fat from my body, especially from my bum and funnily enough my shoulders. The weight loss is slow but it is encouraging when your trousers become baggy! Keep going everyone- slow and steady!

ClarinetCathy, we’re shoulder twins. Mine are downright bony, as are my clavicles. My butt and thighs are still a size 14, but my shoulders, front and back, are thinner than when I was 120 lbs in college. I’m inordinately pleased with this odd development. I feel like wearing a mink stole and a single strand of pearls everywhere I go. ๐Ÿ˜€

Esnecca- Just seeing an image of you wearing your mink stole and pearls brought a smile to my face. It’s odd though isn’t it that the weight has gone off our shoulders! I didn’t even think mine were fat before starting the BSD!

Hello all, just checking in as I haven’t been able to post this last week. My dad has been very ill and in hospital.

Brilliant news about your size 12 Clarinetcathy. I seem to be stuck on the scales at the moment and although I’m sticking to the diet food wise, I have had too much wine ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ.

I think my clothes continue to feel looser though, despite no real weight loss. Most of my clothes Im wearing are now size 14, although I do have a couple of supposed size 16’s which still won’t fit. What a nightmare trying to make sense of sizes !

I have started a new batch of eBay selling as most of my size 16’s are far too big. I’m hoping the sales money will fund my final goal size wardrobe !

Well done everyone, you are all stars.

Hi everyone – hope all is well? Seasidenana sorry to hear about your father and hope he is improving?

My latest 8-weeker has not got off to a good start! Rather kaiboshed by the onset of hot sunny weather in the UK which rather necessitates a glass of something crisp and cold in the garden after work (yes I know I could do water but it’s not quite the same!). Anyway, today is another day so we’ll see how it goes. Fortunately am not putting weight back on, just unsurprisingly not seeing the rate of weight loss I’d like. I have no problems now with the WOE, it’s becoming second nature to have smaller portions and healthy low carb options, and I just don’t really feel hungry any more or get the sugar or snack cravings I used to. But wine is my downfall ๐Ÿ™

I’m currently 10 stone 6 and my overall target is still 9 stone 7 by 21st July – when I go on holiday. I’ve got interim mini goals of 10 stone 2 by 10th June (that’ll be 2 stone off); 10 stone by 23rdJune (into next stone bracket) then as near to my target of 9 stone 7 as I can get by 21st July. Though we know with this diet the weight loss is not linear so it may not be as clear cut as that! Anyway here’s hoping for some whooshes heading our direction!!

    Happy weekend everyone xx

No weight loss to report this morning- scales say exactly the same as last Saturday. Not as disappointed as I used to be when I saw no weight loss, am getting used to the ebb and flow of BSD. Have been good as gold this week and have done a couple of long fasts but I am sure it will happen as it eventually does.

Dreamscometrue- we are at similar stages. I am 10.5 and my target is 9.4. I am not in a rush to get the weight off. To be honest I don’t know what I will do when I get to my goal weight- will need to research about maintenance nearer the time. I go on holiday in two weeks and I think having a week of being less strict will do me good and when I get back I will go straight back onto BSD. I definitely won’t be eating the wrong things because I actually don’t want to as there is nothing I miss. There will be plenty of salad, hummus, aubergine dishes. I am vegetarian so choices are a little limited. I am sure I will put on about 5lb or so but I am just happy to weigh 2 stone lighter than I did last year in Turkey.

My next mini goal is to get to get to the 10 stone marker and a massive goal will be to see a 9 at the start of my weight- not see one of them for twenty odd years! So less than half a stone to see a 9- that is incentive.

Have a good week everyone. Hope to report a loss next week!

Happy Bank Holiday to all UK BSDers!

ClarinetCathy enjoy your holiday when you go – and I don’t think you will put on 5lb! After my recent work trip to France I hardly dared get on the scales, but hadn’t put on any weight despite eating a lot of bread (I don’t eat red meat and some of the alternatives at the venue were rather unappetising so I ate way more bread than planned!) I think if the bulk of what you are eating is healthy and low carb it seems to turn out ok! Here’s looking forward to those 9’s ๐Ÿ™‚

And as the weather has been warmer here I’ve been so delighted to find I’m easily fitting back into summer clothes that were way too tight the last couple of summers. Such a nice feeling ๐Ÿ™‚

    Keep going everyone X

    Hi everyone,
I love reading these posts! Last day of my 6 week holiday and we are staying at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore for just one night. Google it – it’s worth a look! I have just been in the pool here (Google that too!) and its amazing but the most amazing thing is that my very expensive swimmers that were too tight last holiday and took 20 minutes to wriggle into, were RIDICULOUSLY too big on me! Went into the gym after and weighed myself and I have LOST 2kg while on this trip! I have been pretty bad, bread in France, chips and cream teas in the UK, wine and G&T’s most places. I can’t eat as much and only had 2 meals most days, and tried to eat only the BEST food (even if it wasn’t diet food) but I am amazed.
Before I left my GP said I had turned my body into a fat burning machine (made me laugh) but now I think he was right and it has somehow ‘remembered’ to burn fat even though I wasn’t ‘dieting’.
Going home very happy about that and back to another 8 weeks. After that new swimmers I guess!
