Hi folks! Happy Anniversary for yesterday VERANO 🎶🥳🎶🥳🎶🥳
I started this WOE on 10 July 2016,think I joined the forum a few days later. I remember that first day,by evening I was longing for a piece of bread! Someone on tv was eating a slice of toast and I was so desperate for carbs,I felt like licking the screen! 😋😋 xx

Thanks for the link V, will check it out. I know I can achieve and maintain at my desired weight as that is what I was doing for the first couple of years after getting to target, but I took my eye off the ball for awhile hence the small issue now. To be honest, I know what I need to do, but haven’t yet found the focus to get on with it.
Look at that Yowser …. your last post pushed us on to page 97!!!
Congrats to both of you for your staying power and recent anniversaries with this WoL.

Positives from my little corner are ….
💍 eldest son called this evening, to say he’s proposed to his girlfriend and they plan to marry next year. That will be two offspring marrying on the same year …. better get buying hats!
🙃 only one living room wall left to paint now … yippee!! Really feels like the project is moving along now.
💉 my gardening 18yr old grandson has his first covid jab booked for next week.

What positives presented themselves to you recently?

Sorry still not posting regularly!Lovely reading everyone else’s news though,Sunny what a lovely year next year with two weddings😀 Yowzer, great having new babies in the neighbourhood. Some positives from me today:
    – My Mum had a hospital visit today for heart test and swabs prior to hip replacement. She doesn’t have a date yet but it’s a positive step. She’s in constant pain so is looking forward to a (hopefully) successful operation.
    – The dahlias I planted a while ago are getting quite tall, will have to put canes in soon,I’m really looking forward to them eventually flowering🌼
    – Have had a healthy day food wise.Reset last week but have had the odd day where I haven’t felt at all like sticking to my food plan but I have got straight back into it the next day which hasn’t always been the case so I’m counting that as a positive🙂
Will try to think of more positives later in the week.Dawn X

Hello positive people. I have neglected this thread but feeling a renewed enthusiasm to post so i will try to pop in every day!
    Many congratulations are required
    – 5 year anniversaries are impressive and inspiring!! Good stuff Verano and Yowser!!
    – SunnyB facility weddings, how exciting….. new hats and all!
    – Some good motivations and good days eating, awesome gardening achievements…….. all making me smile this morning!
Dawn – from the numerous people i know who have had hip replacements, its a very successful and life changing op, I’m glad your mum is getting a bit closer to it. I’m sure it will go well and she will find massive benefit in it!

My positives (and i get to cheat as i havent posted in ages so can look back a week or 3……)
    1. Successful trip with little horse to National Dressage Champs. He coped with the 10hr journey and over night stays which is a big deal and on top of that he did a good job in the arena and we did not disgrace ourselves! Whoop!! No prizes but certainly a great few days ‘holiday’. Oh and the lorry made it no bother, had had a couple issues in the lead up but thankfully they were mended!
    2. Back into the running this morning with a cheeky 5:30am 10k with my crazy running chum. We’ve had a quiet few weeks so it was great to get back.
    3. And on the running theme…… entered my first marathon…..running it in October…..still cant believe I am a person who writes that!! How times have changed in the past 18 months. I am still over weight, still above goal, but i can run for 2.5hrs solid….soon to be 4! Think i have found the balance between running, eating what my body needs, and remaining BSD friendly…… we shall see!
    4. My gardening is nothing in comparison to you fine people……but i have some fruit shrubs beginning to bare fruit, i have some potatoes sprouting, some surviving replanted carrots and a mint shrub! Though the grass in the un-tamed bit of garden has gone nuts and is currently trying to hid my small successes. Time needed out there!
    5. Household doing fine, all well, hubby is last to get his second vaccine and it will be done this week.

Think that’ll do me….. I promise to find some more and post tomorrow

    Have a good day.

Dawn, hope you Mum gets her op soon. Glad your dahlia are doing well.
Julz, your exercise regime puts me to shame! Great news about your horse and the recent event glad it went well.

Right, let’s see what positives I can find for today ….
🙂 OH has decided he likes the colour I’ve painted the living room feature walls … he wasn’t sure to begin with, but now says it brightens the room up and is more cheerful that the last colour.
🌹 spent about 20 mins watching a little swarm of hoverflies enjoying one of my new roses … it’s has clusters of small semi double blooms and the hoverflies seem to just love it.
🏡 word is, the build work on our villa in Turkey starts in ernest next week …. so they say🤞🏻
Whatever you have been doing today, I hope you found a positive or two. Have a lovely evening.

Hi positive peeps, good to hear yr news! And very uplifting!
Thanks V! Same to you…here’s to us doing well in year six and this time, taking it off and keeping it off. We’ve learnt a hard lesson..I know like me you lost a lot and then regained some, but at least we didn’t go all the way back to square one,but we now know that we can’t go back to bad old ways if we want to keep it off.
    Positives today…just two,tho it’s been a nice day,can’t complain.
*~ Put a top on today that last week I had to struggle into. 😀This time,it just SLID on!🥳 Deffo lost a lot of water and some carby bloat, mostly from tum and midriff. Feel very slinky! 🥰🥰🥰 hehe! But I’m not a bit slinky when I look in the mirror 😂
*~ Lucky escape today. Took Teddy for a walk, came down from his flat on the 3 rd floor in the lift. When we returned the lift had broken down. So glad me and Ted weren’t inside it when that happened!
*~ Oh I do have a third! One of my younger neighbours offered to walk up to the third floor to take Ted home. I’m on first floor so that wasn’t too bad! I’m like a 🐌🐌🐌🐌 on the stairs!
    Think about this folks..

🚗 good drive from Somerset to Kent, to visit eldest daughter. Looking forward to some family time.
🌱 got a bit of gardening done before we left home 🤭 … I know, I’m impossible!

Hi everybody! SUNNY,lovely news about seeing DD! And how fab to live in Somerset! Do you ever visit Glastonbury? That’s on my Would LoveTo Visit list.
*~ Went to massive new Marks ( other shops available) food hall yesterday. Pleased with self as only came out with spring greens and strawberries despite being tempted a zillion times by the goodies on offer
*~ While sitting outside waiting for Beau ( who spent about three years in there, one of those annoying people who can buy all the goodies they want and not gain weight) made friends with a beautiful friendly dog ( Labrador,10 months old, unusual foxy/ ginger colour)
    *~ Glad to say,lift working again 🥳

Yowser, yes to Glastonbury town, no to Glastonbury festival. I do very much appreciate living in a rural location, couldn’t go back to city hustle and bustle living … don’t mind visiting, but that’s enough. Good news about the lift and your visit to the new M&S food hall🙂.
Thought I’d post a few positives before heading to bed ….
🙃 lovely visit with eldest DD and fiance.
🛍 nice little shopping trip with DD … acquired some ornamental bits for the garden and two small handbags🤭
🌹 brought home rose cuttings to hopefully root …. beautiful dusky pink climbing rose, with wonderful perfume.
🚗 good drive home, leaving their house a bit later meant missing heavy traffic.
That’s it for now, time to head for bed…. sweet dreams my friends.

Hi there, yes some doctors are getting the message but there is a new post on the site about weight watchers and their participation with Diabetes UK called Living Well With Diabetes which falls very short of any real hope of us being taken seriously. Apparently we are still doing a dangerous diet that is unsustainable and we are all going to gain everything back and more – oh just like the WW diet crowd. Anyway it is worth a read.

Now I am here I guess I had better add some positives although there are quite a few things getting me down right now.
    1. Beautiful weather today and a lovely swim.
    2. Tomatoes starting to redden on the vine.
    3. I continue to lose weight though I dont have a goal but I am slipping under the next kilo.

    Night night everyone.

SG, I read the post you mentioned and it really makes you want to scream! WW has no vested interest in people successfully losing weight and maintaining, as that would hit their bottom line …. which begs the question why the NHS is ‘getting into bed with them’. Sadly nothing we can do about that situation. Sorry you are a bit down at the moment, but glad to see you managed to identify some positives though.

Positives from my little corner of the world today are …
☀️ much brighter and warmer day than I was expecting.
💉 took eldest grandson for his 1st covid jab today, then we had a pleasant meal out and a quick mooch in a couple of shops.
🌱 acquired another new plant today … only dropped into Lidl for a couple of bits🤭 and got a hosta as well.
🌹 put in the rose cuttings I brought home from DD’s … 🤞🏻they’ll take hopefully.
Think those will do for me today. Hope your day has been a good one and you’ll share a positive or two with us, if you have a moment to spare.

Feeling a little bad as i havent been posting as much as i had promised myself i would…..no excuses, just busy. Feel the need to remember some of the small things and be positive so here goes…..
    – our strawberry plants actually have some strawberries on them and we will get at least 2 each. Must eat them before some bit of wildlife steals them!
    – we built a home made ‘cage’ over our fruit bushes using blue pipe and chicken netting – it looks cool and seems fairly robust. Hopefully what i think are redcurrants, black currents and gooseberries can succeed.
    – I am surrounded by a number of good people, through difficult times when the world seems to be filled with too many….no so good people! Helps keep frustrations in check! Thank you BSD folks as that includes you!

    That’ll do……

My positives for today are …..
🛒 weekly shop done and I nabbed a pretty ‘little black dress’ from a charity shop too.
🌹 a good session of deadheading roses battered by recent rains, but happily there are still plenty of flowers surviving.
📱 good messaging ‘chat’ with friend in Turkey, who was looking for news on when we might be able to visit. Hoping to be able to give him good news soon🤞🏻.

Hi everyone, sorry haven’t posted over last couple of weeks.Have had bit of a stressful time.My Dad’s dementia was worst it’s ever been when my sister visited him last and it took her some time to calm him down.We were hoping to see him tomorrow but have just had a call from the care home to say they have a case of Covid so all visits are cancelled unfortunately. Also DD had visit to Dental Hospital which she was really worried about. It went well but I’m pleased it’s over with.Anyway, enough of the bad news, here are some positives!
🎉 my Mum has a date for her hip replacement,it’s in a few weeks time.Julz it’s good to hear you know people who the operation has gone well for as I don’t know anyone who has had one.
🙂 DD and I went round to my Mum’s this morning with a new mattress topper for her bed,her current one is very thin and the new one is lovely and thick.Hopefully now we’ve put the new one on she may get better sleeps!
🌼Sunny my dahlias are still growing fast and some now have flower buds on so I’m hopeful they’re going to bloom, they are getting pretty tall so am going to get some canes for them, when we cleared my Dad’s garage we saw he had lots so will use some of those.
Food wise I haven’t been brilliant over the last few weeks but I’m plodding on.Dawn X

ADD6605 I had my first hip surgery in 2000 which was a resurfacing on the right side. Unfortunately I contracted sepsis and had to have my hip removed not that hip itself was a problem but an infection like that more often than not gravitates towards any ‘false’ parts in the body. But overall the new hip was great.
2008 I had a replacement which was fine. Then in 2017 I had my left hip replaced and it’s great wouldn’t know it wasn’t my original hip. I think you have to be really unlucky these days to have problems with hip replacements. You mum will be fine I’m sure.

    While I’m here I should post a few positives……
1.🌈🌈 I firmly believe something good comes out of everything. Last week the rail in my wardrobe collapsed and we had to take all the clothes out WELL ….. I found a box of clothes I didn’t even know I had, which we must have brought with us to this house nearly eleven years ago. A brief look through made me realise this box was definitely for the charity shop. Also threw out quite a few other things that I hadn’t worn in years. The good news was that I found two pairs of brand new sandals and a pair of low heeled shoes that I had no recollection of ever buying! So something good really does come out of everything!
2.🥗🍆🍆 Loving this wonderful weather although I must admit to being almost all ‘saladed’ out. But, bbq has brought aubergines to my attention again. I’ve never been fond of them but cooked on the bbq with just a little olive oil is a revelation to me …. my new favourite food.
    3. Have discovered audio books and I must admit I find them really relaxing to listen to. I think you have to be a little careful and always listen to sample first because some of the narrators don’t seem to be up to the job.
Anyway hope everyone is well. Will catch up with all of the posts soon.

Thanks Verano it’s good to know that a new hip makes a difference,my poor Mum has been in a lot of pain for quite a long time and when she eventually agreed to see a consultant he said if it was left much longer she would be in a wheelchair so that persuaded her to agree to have an operation, she’s 86 so I think she was worried she was too old to have it done.Dawn X

Hi Dawn, my neighbour was 89 when her original hip replacement wore out and had it replaced. Really is quite a routine op these days, I’m sure your mum will be fine. Sorry you are not able to see your Dad at the moment.
V, aubergine is one of my very fav veggies, but I’ve never bbq’d it before … that’s on the list now!

Okay, let’s see what positives I can find for today….
🌱 two new bags of compost purchased for setting up new planters and a new orchid acquired too🤭 … it’s a beautiful creamy yellow with a deep crimson centre.
🥃 found some Twinings cold brew tea bags in the supermarket and decided to give them a try … they’re really refreshing in this hot weather and zero carbs.
😷 pleased to see almost everyone in the supermarket opted to continue wearing a mask …. makes sense.

Time to go water my containerised plants, so ducking out now🙋🏻‍♀️

Hi Verano I agree with you about audio books, my new go to when ironing. I don’t know if you know but there are lots of free audio books on You Tube, worth a look.

While I’m here my 3 are:
    1. Tomatoes ripening – I was beginning to think I was going to have to paint the red!
    2. Having hair cut in an hour. Going back to short after letting it grow for the past year. Good timing with the weather.
    3. Finding new ways with courgettes (zucchini) in a bid to keep up with my plants. New favourite is grated into an omelette. This makes my omelette seem a lot lighter /fluffier – not sure why. If all else fails soup and into the freezer is always a good option (just need to relocate the recipe).

🙂 Have had two pretty decent days food wise and feel much better for it.A linen dress I wore around the house on Monday feels much looser round the tum today, simply through a couple of days of healthy eating so less bloating,it really is amazing how much certain foods affect me.
🙂DH and I took my Mum to a Sky store tonight to see what packages are on offer for her,she and my Dad had Sky many years ago but cancelled it because they got fed up with marketing calls, she’s wanted to have it installed again for ages so we got her signed up tonight and it will be set up ready for when she comes out of hospital.

Hi everyone,Sunny what a lovely idea to have Capt Tom and Duke of Edinburgh roses! Some positive from me today:
🎉Weighed myself this morning and had lost 2lbs which is encouraging
🌼Someone came out to my Mums today and gave us a quote to have my Dad’s front garden landscaped. It’s sad that we are having to have it done but it’s so overgrown we just haven’t been able to get on top of it so my Mum would like it gravelled. My sister and I were impressed with the chap who called and we will try to save some of the plants/shrubs/roses by transplanting them into my Dad’s back garden and our gardens.
🙂Was looking for Fast800 videos on utube tonight and found ones from about a year ago made by a grandad who was following the plan, really lovely videos and he had very good results.Hope he’s ok as there aren’t any recent videos.
🤞This is the first night in ages I have managed not to be tempted by grabbing something to eat from the kitchen, long may it continue!
    Dawn X

    Hi how’s everyone today!
DAWN well done on resisting! And on 2 lb loss! Youre inspiring me to be ‘ good’ today…Saturdays and Sundays are harder than weekdays!
SUNNY good news re yr distance vision improved! Mine did after having cataract ops,and it’s sooooo nice to be able to see further ( I remember an elderly fellow patient telling me that she was having her ‘ catamarans’ removed! )
    My positives for today..
*~ Reading a lovely book called Mornings. All about people who like to get up at or before dawn. I’m an owl rather than a lark, but I do enjoy the occasional very early morning when the whole day lies ahead like a lovely promise. Specially summer mornings,as when the sun rises,it shines through the leaves on the tree outside my window and makes a pretty dappled leafy pattern on my kitchen wall.
*~ Saw one of the two sets here of new young parents, out with their tiny baby daughter in her pram. They look tired but happy and proud!
*~ Two deliveries today, one from well known health shop,3 products for price of one, absolute bargain! 👏👏👏👏
    Enjoy your weekend everybody! XX

Dawn, my two commemorative roses were gifts from my mum, which makes them that bit more special too. Well done on the 2lbs discard and avoiding evening snacks.
Yowser, I’m like you, not a morning person. So much so, a manager I worked for years back, didn’t bother talking to me before what he called my ‘eleven o’clock watershed’!
Okay, so what positives can I find …..
🌧 rain has topped up my water butts and thankfully not battered too many plants.
💃 really lovely date night last evening.
👍🏻 last wall painted in the living room … one step closer to completion of this particular DIY project.
Please tell us about your positives from the weekend too.

Has been a quiet day, so identifying specific positives might be a bit harder today, but here goes….
    🙃 quiet hassless day.
☀️ sunny, so got in a gardening session. Have had thunder rumbling around, but no rain …. as yet.
🧺 two batches of washing done.
Simple things to be content about, but bigger picture, what’s not to like about a gentle day.
How was your day? Do tell us about your positives.

*~ Nice newsy email from friend …we have a 50+ years friendship, same with her sister. Sort of a Buy One Get One Free friendship 🥰
*~ Grateful for two good books I’ve enjoyed over the last few days and a grocery delivery tonight. No missing items and nothing with a near sell by date..plus a friendly helpful delivery guy!

Yowser, good to see you posting. Yes, date night is still going, although won’t happen this week as our youngest granddaughter will be staying with us from Thursday. Will be the first week we’ve missed for some time. How lovely to catch up with old friends … and on a 2for1 deal too!

    Positives from me today ….
🌹 bought a rose bush for a friend’s birthday gift. Resisted buying one for myself, but did get a sage and a little plant with bright orange trumpet shaped flowers.
🙂 met new neighbours this afternoon. They’re doing a lot of work on the house, are living in a tent in their back garden and came to ask OH to help them with their house renovation. Seem like a lovely friendly young couple.
🍕 had message from eldest grandson, he’s doing his first shift at his local Dominos this evening. Will be good for him to have some funds coming in, so hoping it goes well for him.

    Have a lovely evening folks.

Today has been a busy one, with plenty of pluses …
👰 DD, her son and her friend visited, so she could try on her wedding dress again and I could cook lunch for them. She looks wonderful in the dress and we all enjoyed lunch. Lots of fun and laughter …. success on all counts.
🍕 grandson wasn’t over impressed with his first shift in his new p/time job, but is sticking with it.
🌱 very pleasant gardening session at the village hall this evening and found an unwanted lavender seedling, which came home with me🙂.
What were your positives today …. do tell.

Oh SUNNY,that must have been so exciting seeing DD in her wedding dress! It sounds like you all enjoyed a lovely lunch together. Precious times arent they, all the more so whe you think back to all the months of not seeing friends and family!
    My Friday positives…🥳🥳🥳
*~ Today I received a Covid pass in the post. Didn’t request it,but it might come in handy.
*~ Wednesday I somehow lost my debit card. Indoors! Had the place upside down searching. Came to conclusion it had gone into the rubbish by mistake. Wdnt surprise me as I am doing increasingly dotty things these days. Senior moments! Anyhow, replacement came this morning. Fast efficient service! 👏👏
*~ Feel like I’m on a roll right now WOE wise..4 weeks now without a crumb of bread passing my lips or any kind of sugar related goodies!🙂🙃
    Happy weekend everyone! 🥰🥳🥰🥳🥰🥳🥰🥳🥰🥳🥰🥳🥰🥳🥰🥳🥰🥳
