I might be imagining it but several days into eliminating sugar and white flour…….I don’t have anymore knee pain….anybody else found this?

Yup. It took me a little longer as I was severely obese and the sheer pressure of the weight hurt my knees during any activity, but the pain when I was sitting or lying down went away within a week. Carbs cause inflammation. A lot of chronic joint pain is either exacerbated or straight-up caused by them.

Well done on such a powerful first step, Jennyeb, and welcome to the forum. 🙂

Jenny – YES! but in my case hips…It cannot just be the relief from excess poundage as I found this very early on. It is really very illuminating. Do join one of the regular threads (one week at a time/positives).

You know what, because I didn’t have the pain I didn’t think about it, but now that you mention it, I haven’t had any pain in my knees recently, I’m 2 weeks in.

I am eating med style and fasting for 12/24 hours. I have a paralysed half diaphragm and sleep apnoea which makes me very breathless. I was given a choice between losing weight (I’m currently 123.5 kilos) and having a operation. Chose losing weight.
Hope I can keep it up….the no knee pain is a revelation! Thanks for the supportive comments!

    Good luck, Jenny!

My husband had knee pain and that’s greatly reduced since we started this diet – it hadn’t occurred to me that was a possible reason.

Jenny I have a chronic auto-immune condition (rheumatoid arthritis) and within the first 2 weeks of BSD I had a noticeable reduction in pain and swelling in my joints. Then I saw my specialist in about week 3 or 4 I think and she noted that the inflammation levels in my blood were now on the Normal range so keep doing what I’m doing! At that stage I’d only lost a few kilos, I couldn’t believe that cutting out white carbs and sugar could make such a difference!
A change of diet didn’t cure my disease but it makes it more manageable.
    Good luck on your journey!
