    Popping up to check in…
    Today I weighed 169.
My goal for the week is to stick to only bsd- approved foods and be active on these forums daily.
I struggle with self -control, over-indulging, and constant negativity. I’ll do my best to regain my one week at a time mindset and take back all the ground I lost over that past couple months.

Sounds good Amz and we are here if you need us.💞🦜. I had a friend come to lunch today and bless her she said I have brought lunch. Brown breakfast muffins and blueberry muffins🤣🤣🤣🤣. I said oh don’t worry I have sorted lunch! Instead we sat down to a plate of my smoked paprika chicken with avocado smash, and mayo all wrapped up in little gem lettuce leaves. She said “oh yes this is much better!” Win!🤣😝

Hi Amz – because I too have had some slips in last couple of weeks and that shows on the scales (and elsewhere..) I am more or less exactly where you are. So I too need to get back into the week by week mindset. You are not alone, we all have different challenges and can also run up against internal negativity (well, apart from Birdy or Duckie who don’t ever ever seem to! …). You don’t need to give anyone else encouragement or pats on the back, just focus on you and walk alongside!

Six turkeys I slipped at the weekend I had alcohol and biscuits. Don’t know what you mean by negativity though? I always try to be positive but I have had wobbles and times if I didn’t know wether I was going wrong or not, as much as we all try and encourage each other it is more about us as individuals and we do have to put ourselves first too. 💞🦜

    Hi all
Been AWOL for two weeks on worl related stuff. First week our colleagues from another office visited for a massive planning seesion.
this seemed to involve alot of socialising after hours and I struggled with find BSD friendly food.
Then at the weekend my hubby had booked a meal at a wonderful restuarant. It was a taster menu 8 courses and absolutely fabulous darling.
that was not too unfriendly but I did succumb to the worlds best deconstructed rhubard crumble – divine and I dont have a sweet tooth!
Then last week i went on a residential course. I didnt really think that this would be a problem but how wrong I was!
On another thread someone commented on how carb heavy British food is – at the time I thought that was a little harsh but they were right.

Sandwiches for lunch (we werent allowed out in case the creativity dried up)
Pasta and chips with everything for dinner – I did manage a couple of nights with meat and veg but often stuff was battterd or covered in sauces!
Never mind I thought I can fill up on breakfast.
NO!! they go for healthy eating I was told so it was cereals porridge toast jams – none of that unhealthy bacon and eggs I was told by a supercilious manager.
Even the yoghurt was low fat.
The weird thing was when you are surrounded by all of this I really did not want it.
So I came back despondent to discover I had only put on a pound – I was really pleased with that.

Good news – what fabulous weather over Easter – I was able to go out riding every day and my young horse is coming on a treat.
Big family meal on Sunday then all sat outside in the glorious sunshine and snoozed!

Articfox – 15 years ago I had a mad mare (thats where the name came from) and I found a product called Cool Calm and Collected. This doesnt sedate but makes their brain work better.
It didnt stop her spooking but it did stop her winding herself up until she was a frothy mess and about to take me off into orbit.
Herbal remedies did nothing but this did.

So I am not where I wanted to be but I am going to get there.
I learnt a great trick use the word nevertheless.
So I have had two weeks of awful food, nevertheless I am carrying on and I will lose weight, I will fit into my skinny jeans, the beach ball (aka my stomach) will resume normal proportions.
Birdy, you are absolutely right – this weekend I too slipped and had alcohol after two weeks without. Its the carrying on that matters
    But nevertheless…

    So KOKO

Ah I see six turkeys🤣 believe it or not even though I am loud and proud I do suffer in silence, but you are right I don’t dwell for long, especially if it is out of my control. I do find things hard and this WOE can be one of them at times. I am actually craving Jaffa cakes at the moment! They have been mentioned twice on here today and now I want them., I am hoping the craving goes before work tonight as it would be very easy to buy some😢. 💞🦜

Caronl thanks for the tips about taking things in chunks…i am trying not to get too hung up on scales and it is reassuring to see the measurements reduce! Not round my bum/thighs yet. Suspect that will be last to go :/

Hi all, I haven’t been able to post on here recently although I have been reading all the posts. (A bit mixed up with what I’ve read and where lol). Welcome to all the new comers. This is a great forum and really helps to keep the motivation going.
It appears that I’m not the only one who has slipped up this weekend so that’s reassuring. Determined though to get back on track.
And I’m so glad to see you back Amz. Been thinking of you and wondering how you are doing. I remember you had some personal issues to contend with……hope things have sorted themselves out in one way or another. As others have said, we are all here for you and you need never feel alone. And you’re definitely not alone in having slip ups!
Also glad to read you’re on the mend, Patricia. Been following your progress in the threads. You’re doing really well.
Have a great time in UK, Wendy. Eating out can be tricky here, especially pub grub, but I’m sure you’ll cope. And it must be great catching up with your family.

    Hi Scottishgal, missed you.

I have been working on the house and some gentle exercises, miss the running a lot.

We have all had a few unregulated carbs this weekend, must be the Easter feasting going on around us.

Getting into the zen of low carb would be great, I’ll put it into words.

I don’t need a snack to feel better, I am looking good and getting stronger. The food that I want is what I have planned to eat.

I am going to say this tonight and tomorrow, and it will become the reality.

    Hello!
I’m a newbie to this forum. I’ve attempted 5:2 in the past and dropped off the wagon due to it making me feel poorly. The upshot was two years ago I was diagnosed Type 2 Diabetic and given Metformin straight away. I rebelled after nine months and came off them preferring to try and sort out my BC numbers myself. I have seven stone to lose (also on Thyroxine) and had a fatty liver from about five years ago – a shame no one explained that this would hold up my attempts to lose weight and also that carbs were a problem. It took a few TV programmes and Dr Mosely to make it more understandable. Playing with food and avoiding carbs showed my BC numbers dropped and fatty liver disappeared but still I struggled.
So, with lots more knowledge, as well as the Fast 800 book and my Fitbit on which to log food input and weight myself I started yesterday. A daft time to start as I have another book out next week and talks and related events, where food will be served, but if I don’t start now I fell I never will.
I look forward to following this thread and getting to know you all. xx

Hello, I went over the 800 calories today, but I am happy I stuck to my goal of bsd friendly food only. No workout today, but it did cross my mind. I hope I can get one in tomorrow. My personal issues… My o/h is still a struggle for me… I’m trying to contend with the disappointment and loneliness I am feeling right now. He definitely wholeheartedly supports the idea of my weight loss, but his comments are neither helpful or encouraging. I resisted the urge of emotional eating today and made sure I kept water near me. I found this lovely dress, so I want to work with the goal in mind of fitting into its slim silhouette.

Welcome bobtails. You sound as if you are already well up the learning curve, and we are all here to cheer you on! And well done for starting right now – in my experience I could always find a good reason to delay – a party, a birthday, Christmas…. I think the ideal time to start is now, given the benefits this way of eating brings. Food at public functions is always a challenge. Is there a way you can request some low carb options beforehand? If not, perhaps you could sneak your own food in to have first – a thin omelette with fillings, or mini crustless quiches, or some almonds?

If you need some inspiration to get you on your way, I heartily recommend Esnecca’s post of last night (you can find her in the search function). Good luck with this way of eating, and with your new book.

I am 104.78 kg now ( I was 114.3) I would like to be 85-86kg. I am sure i will get there.

Amz, I’m very happy to see you back with us! If you don’t mind the observation, I think you did marvelously
well when you were posting each day, and we miss you when you disappear 🙂 Americanized versions of Indian
and Chinese food are loaded with pitfalls in terms of carbs and sugars. The best advice I can give you beyond
seeking out a different type of restaurant, would be to take a look at the menu in advance, plan what you will
order, and don’t deviate from your decisions. Avoid the dahls, chickpea preparations and below ground vegetables,
pappadums, rice, and the like. Northern Indian dishes using chicken are better choices, and often use cream or
yogurt in the sauces. Let us know how your evening goes! Best of luck..

Frustrated that the myfitnesspal app doesn’t let you record anything under 1000 calories? It says it is unhealthy and won’t track nutrients / macros so am having to put in 2 glasses of wine I didn’t have which is a bit sad 🙁 any other apps people use??

Hi Greenbean. My fitness pal – if you click on settings the darker blue second line down you will sea Goals appear next to home. Click the on the goals and then press edit and you can amend your daily calories there and I think when you complete you won’t get “told off”. The other option is just to fill in your intake for the day but don’t press complete this entry. Doing that won’t give you your graphs but you will have an accurate (or as accurate as it gets) end of day count.

I use carb manager app and find it quite easy. I can set my own limits for cals and carbs and it has a good database of foods but I can also add my own as required.
I’ve been a bit better today except for a couple of jaffa cakes…….I blame whoever mentioned them yesterday! On the positive side though my BG readings are still low and that’s the main thing for me. Just need to discard the 4lb I gained over the weekend and I’ll be happy.

For dinner, I am eating chicken and broccoli with guacamole. Trying my best to get my water in a well. I also was tempted to down a huge bottle of wine today instead of dinner, but I refused the offer. I really want to get back to the confident and dedicated person I was. I’m going to keep working on regaining my positive attitude.

    Hi everyone,
I have been doing not too badly at all so far this week. I’ve been sticking pretty well to BSD principles, having yogurt with raspberries and ground flaxseed for breakfast and then a spinach salad with other low carb veggies and a protein for lunch. I haven’t felt like eating very much in the evenings. I am realizing though that it is not just convenience that has caused me to reach for the carb laden options over the past little while. It appears that the effects of trying to cope with my injuries may have left me quite depressed and anxious and I have been using the carbs to cover it up and to cope. I have been really struggling with my mood as the level of carbs has dropped and my anxiety has spiked up so that I have been having trouble sleeping and concentrating at work. I’m hoping that things will level out a bit as my system adjusts to fewer carbs.
Madmare – thanks for the suggestion. I’ve seen a product here called Calm and Collected that is magnesium and herb based. Wondering if it might be similar? I’ve tried straight magnesium but I didn’t really notice any impact. My horse is on seemingly never ending box/small paddock rest for a suspensory ligament injury. He is going absolutely out of his mind, which has also not helped my stress levels. However, he had a better day today and seems to be calming down a bit for the time being. We have a stretch of sunny, warm weather in the forecast so that should make things a bit better all round too.

greenbean that is lovely news and as you say very exciting, congratulations. I also love that you have found some great dishes that coincide with this plan in a restaurant, definitely think these need to go on the positive thoughts feed❤️.

Artic fox sorry that both you and your horse are struggling, it is always hard when we get injured it leaves us feeling, useless, inadequate, and like a caged animal knowing we can’t do the norm to the best of our ability, which then in turn causes more anxiety and frustration. I would say that enjoying something you can escape into would help. Maybe a film or series that you can watch and take your mind off of your situation for a while, or some music if you are not into tv or films (they always work for me, I love a bit of escapism). Or failing that a good book? I have tried herbal remedies for anxiety before and found they do little or nothing at all for me and in fact some supplements have caused me to be unwell so that is why I choose escapism. When I escape into any of the above it also helps with taking mind off of naughty food and carbs. Please don’t be too hard on yourself as we have got you and you have the tools to correct any little blips and we are only human and doing our best in this crazy thing called life. Birdy💞🦜

Wendy, sorry to make you worry so much. I am feeling better and more like that lovely woman you so watched me blossom into so hopefully as I get back on track, your anxiety will lessen. 🧡
I have an event Sunday and I bought a lovely dress is a navy swing dress with bell sleeves and cherry blossoms at the bottom. I hope it looks lovely with the fire orange hair I’m sporting now. To be honest, I’m a bit anxious for Sunday. I’m supposed to prepare Japanese rice balls for the lunch, which are 1/4 cup cooked rice, 1 or 2 shrimp, a half a teaspoon of Avacado, rice wine vinegar, cream cheese, and fish roe, wrapped in a strip of seaweed nori… I’m trying to think of a bsd friendly option to take along. It’s an all day event and there’s no refrigerator, and the food has to last until the lunch break so with travels and the first half of the program that would be like six and half hours. Any ideas for lunch and snacks?

    Hi all,
I’ve been lurking around for a while now and earlier this week I decided I was committing to this new way of eating after a trip to the doctors where I found I my weight and blood pressure had skyrocketed! So I’m here to change the way I think about food (no carb binging or excessive snacking- focus on meals), the way I think about my body and get my weight back down into a healthy range. I’m aiming to lose at least 10kgs (and lower my blood pressure) so I can feel healthier in my skin. I’ve gone through some poor health this year and I’m really excited to put it all behind me, including the weight I’ve gained, so here’s to a positive attitude!
I seemed to have lost a kilo in 3 days, however I bought a new scale so I’m not sure. Going to check again next week to see what’s really going on…
Hope you are all doing well!

    Hi everyone!
I’m working this weekend and it is freezing! I have the heater blowing on my feet as I sit at my laptop.
Since Tuesday, when I started the Fast800, I’ve lost five pounds. I’m thrilled as having an underachieve thyroid, and slightly fatty liver, and type 2 diabetic it has been hard to lose weight. I say slightly fatty liver as it was fine when on Metformin but as I refused to take them anymore and to take control myself things may have changed…
So far I’ve been fine and considering work is stressful right now I’ve enjoyed being in control of what I eat.
    Enjoy your weekend!
