I need to do that Gavin, have a good clear out. I’m keeping my ‘fat jeans’ which I can’t wear now, if I wanted to more than anything. I have another pair of jeans that I’m out of but I can still wear at a push (as I’m so low on clothes and don’t want to buy too many that I’ll be out of in no time). But I do have some trousers that are now huge on me. We don’t want the temptation there, do we? What we need is the waistband of our new sizes to become our gauges in time. I’m lucky with a lot of my tops, well, I say lucky, but because I’m very busty and always will be whatever size I am, my tops are ok for the time being, they just look better on me, and fit me less like a glove now.

Helloooo Janey! Glad you’re arrived safe in Devon. I have to say, the one sandwich I had didn’t make me feel rough. However the slice of cake was (again – think back to the cheesecake!) far, far, far too sweet. And it was a coffee cake too, which isn’t the sweetest cake you can get, is it? I enjoyed my coffee ice cream and to be honest, I probably wouldn’t have bothered about having it only that it was coffee and you hardly see it anywhere. My husband is like a kid with a new toy with my new shaped body and he loves feeling me at night (this is nowhere near as erotic as I’m probably making it sound) and telling me where my body is changing (I promise, not erotic…) and last night he said that I had thigh muscles! Still flab on top but he was right. Those hills I walked, my body feels like it’s been crushed. So yes, water retention, alcohol, lady pound(s) and muscle. No, haven’t done my measurements, think I will leave that now until next Saturday. Just in case I get any more crushing blows to my ego and I hit the pizza.

Doesn’t help that hubby put on… 0.1 kg. 0. Point. 1. Kg. The git. We ate similarly, he had one burger with a roll when I had mine on the plate. The only difference between our eating is that one bread roll and I drank three bottles of wine.

Thanks Yowzer, you’re right 🙂 I would have been shattered anyway arriving home, the manner I did didn’t help, worry about the car, and added to that a weight loss I wasn’t expecting. Two lots of washing to go, it’s not drying here either so the tumble is going like the clappers. I have a new resolve. And I am going to Waitrose to get food 🙂

Oh, I had a Cinderella moment too! Went in Edinburgh Woolen Mill and they had a lovely range of clothing there that was me to a tee. Bit out of my price bracket but anyway, I went and tried a size 20 button up blouse on. And it fit me. I’ll be keeping my eye out for their Winter Sale when it’s half price. They had a sale rail of Spring Summer stuff (I assume) and they had a jacket of the same range and hubby bought it for me. That was an XL. I am also in cast off trousers that my Mum gave me at the start of her diet a few months ago, size 18 – but they are elasticated waist. I won’t count it until it’s a solid size 18 waistband. But still! Progress! I can’t be far off. Better than the starting size 24 bottom anyway!

Morning everyone – I stayed up far too late watching the Olympics (not that I’m about to take up the heptathlon or ten thousand meters any time soon!)

Lucky – are you certain your scales aren’t a bit wavery like my old ones got?
Even if not, you’ll probably find that you loose the bit you’ve gained quickly, as Gavin says, probably water (and poo) retention!
Sounds as if you’ll have a very active day unpacking, laundry and tidying – don’t stress too much
You’re still more than 2 stone lighter than when you started – think where you’d be if you hadn’t BSD’d so well pre-holiday.
Re Nordic walking – yes I’m a bit uncoordinated too, the trainer seemed to think it was perfectly natural to know which arm to swing with which leg! Not for me! I’m hoping that making myself do the training sessions first before I start off on y own will help develop good habits.

Midnight Pumpkin – that’s brilliant, you must be delighted

Have a fantastic holiday Janey – well done on the ice cream and burger bun.

Well done Gavin – I’m an inveterate hoarder, I’ll probably put things in a box for a while!!! Bit like hanging on to weight that I don’t need for far too long.
I must clear out the wardrobe though – I have about three pairs or wearable trousers, and even some tracksuit style bottoms I wore yesterday felt too big. Other than that, getting ready to go somewhere means trying on loads of things that are too baggy.
Even -DRUM ROLL- the trousers that I bough in TK Maxx sale that were way too small two weeks ago, don’t exactly fit, but certainly do up now!

Well done Lynne, hope that your new uniform isn’t way too large when you collect it!

Oldbluejeans – well done on the salt, I had problems with that at first, counter intuitive isn’t it with all the “salt is bad” messages. Yesterday was the first day on MFP that I had too much salt (bacon, salmon and samphire) – looks a bit “OMG” – then realised that it’s in milligrams, when you chunk it down, a gram of extra salt one day after being way below daily allowance on a regular basis really isn’t going to cause any problems!

Claire – maybe not a good weekend carb wise – but a positive if your tummy is reacting badly and wants less!!

20kg Imogen – brilliant birthday present – who needs cake! have a great day – are you on holiday, or do you live in the lake district?

whew – think that’s all the catchups!
Tea first, then Brunch. Or rather Froglet has just reminded me – her food first!

Hahaha, glad it’s not just me then! I can barely walk in a straight line! Yes, it’s going to be a huge mixture of all those things and probably more. Waiting for hubby to finish his coffee then it’s down to Waitrose and back up the big hill. My daughter turns 14 tomorrow and I haven’t got her a card even, nor a cake. Just hope Waitrose have something under £3 a card or I’ll be printing her one out. Not a joke. I love walking elsewhere but when I’m back home, I hate being outside. Hence my treadmill walking most of the time.

Well done on the TK Maxx trouser win! Getting there 🙂

Not eaten yet, but I am feeling terribly thirsty. Already tanked a one litre bottle of water this morning after my coffee, am on my second now. As we always say, onwards it is now. Holiday is over, weight gain is what it is (or isn’t!) and clean slate from today, with a new starting weight. And as you rightly said, a new starting weight 2 stone less than I was pre BSD. I’d be 18 stone something today if I hadn’t! And I’d have eaten tonnes more bad stuff as well! Silver linings!

Have a good shopping trip Lucky
Cards are outrageously expensive aren’t they. There is a local children’s bookshop where everything is £1 – any friends children that I buy for get a book now rather than a card.
Someone I used to work with has just finished a long prison sentence – do they make cards for that? I need to explore card shops this afternoon.

I discovered diet bitter lemon yesterday – I was in M&S, and it was a choice between a half litre bottle of water, same water as two litres, which of course was lots cheaper. Half litre wasn’t enough, and two litres too much to lug about from (or drink from the bottle) – and I was irritated by the tiny bottle being 20p more than the big one. I started looking at litre bottles of soda water, then spotted the bitter lemon, which I haven’t drunk in years.
It was really nice – would definitely get it again. A litre was about 10 cals and less than 1 carb, and I wouldn’t drink a whole litre if I wasn’t in gulpy/hot/sweaty/justdonelotsofexercise mode.

I love where I live on Dartmoor. Beautiful scenery and landscapes. But gardens are a PITA. Hard to grow much and due to living on a Moor, grass and weeds grow so fast it’s like their possessed.

So I have only sorted the front garden and already done 4,500 steps. It’s a scorcher today.

Janey you enjoy Devon. It’s fab here .
    .
Lucky your bust will shrink eventually 😉 And I really think your weight difference is water retention and also due to timing. In a few weeks it will vanish !
Frog I like bitter lemon drinks too.

Hi GAVIN…Still i wd love to live on Dartmoor despite the drawbacks. Always feel at ease when surrounded by nature tho am a city girl. Fortunate tho to have a little woods across the road from my home, and a massive park, plus the river nearby.
Are there wild ponies on Dartmoor or is that just a figment of my imagination? X
FROG bitter lemon sounds so refreshing and 👍🏻 for cal n carb count!
    Only thing missing..some gin..i DO love a gin n bitter lemon…
DD was offered the job she wanted on Friday after a stiff interview Wednesday, and i had ONE small sip of a g and t to celebrate! And one small sip of champagne..they tasted like nectar of the gods..even better than a full glass of each! ( or so i told myself!)😛 X

Well, on the bloody principle of the matter, my daughter does not have a birthday card. The cheapest cards there would have been £7 for two. And they were damned ugly too! Her birthday cake cost £9 and it’s not a patch on the size I bought from Morrisons for my son two weeks ago. She told me to ‘chill, I’ve had my birthday money’ (spent in Primark whilst camping…). If she was the sort to cherish a card, fair enough. But she’s a teenager. The card would be empty so… that £7 is better off in my pocket.

Hmmmmm Frog, I’m not sure. How about a ‘Yayyyyyyy! You’re free!’ card? There’s a gap in the market for so many occasions. Reminds me of when I owned a grocery shop over a decade ago, a very plain speaking customer who didn’t really like many people, lamented the lack of cards that stated how she really felt. She swore like a docker. Everyone knows one person like this, right? She asked me if I had a card that would suit a certain person, and I found a nice open male one. She asked me if I had anything uglier, told me it was too nice, she didn’t want him getting the wrong impression as she begrudged buying him one at all because he was a – the very bad swear word beginning with c – and that there was an opening in the market for cards for people who felt like she did. The EXACT sentiment she was looking for, and I remember her words to this day, was ‘Happy Birthday B****rd.’ My face must have been a picture. I miss my shop sometimes.

Frog, you sound so like me, I like getting value for money 😉 Things like that aggravate me so much. But I’d lug the 2 litre bottle around and end up spilling more down my heaving bosom than would go in my mouth.

It’s crap here Gavin! Gloomy and spitting. I live in a beautiful place too, but I don’t appreciate it as much as I would if I was a visitor or tourist. I should do really. I haven’t been to Dartmoor itself. We usually stay in Paignton every year, it’s a good base for a large family. One of my favourite places in the world (I’ve never left the UK though… 😉 ) is Buckfast. My great aunt and uncle live in Dawlish Warren. Back to Devon next year, we’ve decided, two weeks and I’ve got a year to plan and see different parts this time, which I always try to do. I should be much smaller and fitter then and able to walk and walk and walk 😀

I’ve got visions now of my boobs ending up like deflated balloons 🙁 Like… shrivelled… 🙁

Well done to your daughter Yowzer 🙂 And yes, sometimes a little taster of something can take the edge off, we don’t have to go overboard, do we?

I managed to pick up some nice burgers from Waitrose under their 3 packs of meat for a tenner offer, one lot were chickpea and lamb and something. Moroccan. And the others were peppered steak. I know they’re not as good (carb wise, probably) as making my own but I’ve scanned everything in and I’m doing ok carb wise for the day. Moroccan burger, portion of zesty bean quinoa from Iceland which was nicer than I ever anticipated, and a nice salad for tea. Greek yogurt with walnuts for breakfast brunchy lunch just while watching the football. Back on track!

No, it didn’t. Renewed determination 🙂 I’ve come too far too quickly to let something so minor in the big picture set me back. It was just… a bit… you know. And remembering how I used to react in the past. Because I have lost large amounts of weight before, larger than this even, and there always comes a time where I have a little time off, usually a holiday, and then it used to take me weeks to get back into it. And sometimes I didn’t get back into it. It would always be after the weekend, or on Monday, or something else would come up, another little break or a party or anything. Some excuse.

So now, next weekend. The christening day itself I will probably have to relax on but eat only allowed things, there’s no excuse for the Friday or the Sunday. I will make one of my loaves and I will make hubby and I sandwiches out of that and keep them in a lunchbox separately. I know the usual things I make for their family parties, there will be salads (yay), pasta salads (nay), meat pies and sausage rolls (sob), chicken legs. Garlic bread. Sandwiches and rolls. Cupcakes. Might marinate some chicken breasts and take those too. Or cook some Heck Sausage and cut them up and shove them on sticks lol. Not feeling quite so daunted about this as I was the camping anyway! Sorted 😀

Yowser49 , there are ponies up here.. It’s lovely seeing all the cycles of nature every year. Cows, sheep, snakes, Pumas (rumour only following an escape years ago from Dartmoor Zoo) , birds of prey , and weather that changes so fast sometimes, it’s amazing to witness.

Lucky – I know what you mean about not appreciating where you live. My annoyance is the tourists. Fortunately its more so during the summer months, although being an open national park people visit all year round. However, come 5pm everyone disappears and it’s super quiet. The only noise you can hear is the sheep singing. Since having 3 dogs I haven’t been aboard either as I can’t face leaving them in kennels. Also, having been on holiday in a different locations, I ended up being disappointed as it’s not as nice as Dartmoor. I shouldn’t worry about your bust either because if waist / size is a lot less, then your bust even if slightly less, will still protrude as required 🙂

I suppose we’re all tourists at times, and bringing money into a certain area, I won’t say our area is as disadvantaged as some parts of Wales, but without the tourism we’d be a lot worse off. There’s no industry to speak of to keep the youngsters here. As long as people respect the area, as I always respect the places I visit, it’s ok. But when it’s your home and you have to deal with an influx of people when you’re trying to get on with your normal day to day life, it can get frustrating. What really bugs me are the people who go up Snowdon without the proper equipment. In sandals and things.

Nothing protrudes as required after four children, Gavin 😉 hehe. Where are Janey and Tokyo and Timmy when the major boobage is being discussed. Those three have a filth radar usually 🙂

Hey Smp 🙂 Did you have a good time? Yep, it’s done now, time to face the music and get back on track. Start now! Now dammit! Doesn’t matter what else you’ve eaten already today, start now from the next meal! 😉

Mother is on her way up to see me. Be interesting to see what she’s brought me from Devon as usually I get a cream tea (and I really, really hope she hasn’t this time) and one of those red sugar dummies. She has been really good though since I’ve started BSD, she’s a Mum that always comes bearing a food parcel or homemade pie or something she’s picked up in the Supermarket, or a new bar of chocolate, or a cream cake, you get my drift. Bless her.

Lucky , without tourists a lot would close here too. People venture out on Dartmoor without the right gear too, although Snowdon is far more serious if things go wrong. You need a dog, so when your mum gives you something you shouldn’t have, it can venture off towards a waggy tail 🙂

The lady doth protest too much, Gavin lol 🙂

Well, first words out of her mouth were ‘I was going to bring you a cream tea, but Dad said you’d kill me’. Correct. So she bought me two tops, a necklace and a candle. And some bottled water, coconut flavour and blackcurrant. Possibly the most bizarre present I’ve had for a while. But at least there’ll be no guilt while I drink it.

You are so lucky Josie, I’ll want to pick your brains for next year about nice places to go to eat that the tourists don’t know about 😉 I’ve been going to Paignton for years, as a child we always stayed down in Preston but since I’ve been going with my husband and children we’ve stayed in apartments just off Sands Road. My husband and sons love going to the BMad Bike nights. I really have missed it this year, last year was a disaster and I was glad to get home, and I said I wanted to leave it for at least two years, but we’re going again next Summer 🙂

Just had my tea, lamb and chickpea burger was lovely. I even have a few calories left to spend on some Oppo later, should the desire strike me.

    Hi lucky.

You just put those old acquired kilos in your old mental rucksack, and leave it at the back door, as Gavin said this is normal life, and those extras won’t make you ruin a perfect plan, because you know it’s perfectly wonderful, and all will be well.
So duel up ,,,,, get it when’s it’s starting and what do I need to do my end. I know you will win, but I’m just being a helpful Devon pixie. Yes Gavin I spent many a childish and adult hour frolicking around Dartmoor. My mother had an aunt who had an enormous house overlooking the sea at teignmouth, and we used to go there for hols, so love Devon and Cornwall.
But I am fortunate to live in a very pretty part of the world, I am in cranbrook, Kent the smallest town in the country, all the houses are white weatherboarded, and my shop looks over the largest smock windmill in the country, and our house Christmas cottage was a holiday home, so I am on holiday all the time. Hundreds of years ago it was a stable, for the fire horses, that would pull the water engine along the little passage called horse entry which is just outside our house. Bit like a grown up narnia.
But Cinderella moment, boys avert your eyes, whilst walking today had a frock on and my knickers nearly fell of😱😱😱 what do you think of that huh, and it wasn’t because the elastic had gone baggy. Hehe small things huh.

I could end up with seventeen different weights depending on where in the bathroom they were. My old rubbish B&M scales weigh 5kg to a 5kg weight anywhere in the bathroom. I’m not bothered about the other measurements and I work out my BMI online.

I’m no help am I? LOL.

1960smp – I use Garmin Smart Index Scales – measures weight, body water percentage, body muscle percentage, skeletal body mass, and tells you your BMI. It then sends the results to your Garmin Connect account via wifi. So you can log into your PC and see all your results . There is also an app for iPhone or an android phone. Withings also do a scale too which works in a similar way and costs about the same. Before you choose, its worth checking for any compatibility with any other apps or fitness devices you are using.

Oh that sounds so pretty 🙂 I’ve never been to Kent either. In fact, I’ve been hardly anywhere, I’m not well travelled, when I find somewhere I like I tend to stick to it and then just explore outwardly from there, looking for new places all the time 🙂

Oh dear Jan, it’s good but it’s an awful feeling isn’t it? I only wear belly warmers and my well meaning husband bought me loads that weren’t quite so full as usual at Christmas, and a very optimistic (on his behalf) 18/20 as well. Hi 1960smp

I didn’t see your other post! I bought new scales a couple of weeks ago because I realised that the old ones were giving such variable results.
I read tons of reviews on various websites, and ended up getting Weight Watchers Ultimate Precision Electronic Scales from Argos – the first evening i tried them about 30 times and only got a variation of 50g, which could have been the exertion of getting on and off the scales so often. In addition to weight, they measure BMI, fat and water %s, plus bone density.
Sadly on looking at the site to double check the exact name of the model, they’re no longer in the sale – I paid £20, and they’re back to £30, but still cheaper than many that have the added body measurement stuff.
