Well done on hitting your mini-goal, s-g.

Verano, I have no doubt that you will manage to lose 2lbs in the next week, you are a strong woman, and can do anything you set your mind to.

SunnyB, I’m sure your weigh in on Monday will have you doing the happy dance.

I forgot to report on my mini-goal, which was to lose 3lbs in 14 days, ending on the 16th March. Pleased to say I hit the target – just – and whilst it is not an astounding amount to lose, I was away for 8 of those 14 days, so quite pleased that I managed to stay more or less in control. I am pleased to report that, since 16th the scales have reported another pound gone! So 26lbs gone in total.

My next mini-goal is to make that 26lbs the full stone, so 2lbs more in the next 2 weeks. May be a bit of a challenge as we have our 3 day gourmet break coming up this week, so I am sure to, at best stall, at worst gain. 🙁 But life is for living, and I will get straight back on the strict BSD800 wagon the minute I return.

Well done every one, keep on plugging away. Weighed in at 110.7 kg this morning. 3kg loss for the week, makes hitting the pavements worthwhile. Have 0.7kg to lose by 24th to reach my mini goal of 110 kg. Can’t even remember last time I was that weight. Have a good one all, and Never bloody give up!

Well done Bloke41 that’s a really impressive loss. Theodora I’m with you in taking ‘baby steps’ 2lb at a time suits me because there’s no extra pressure.

I’m sure you’re right about hydration SunnyB it’s something I have to really work on. I think on a good day apart from maybe three cups of tea I have 1.5lts of water, not nearly enough. I used to drink a minimum of 2ltrs a day but have just got out of the habit.

I really do think drinking water is habit, a bit like alcohol was for me. I don’t drink wine anymore apart from a the very odd glass. I had 2 glasses of Cava on Friday because I really felt like a glass but was out for a meal last night and just had fizzy water, had no desire for wine!

Out again today at a buffet lunch. I think I may have something to eat before I go then I’ll be less likely to nibble because it will be a late lunch around 4pm. Really do need to lose the next 2lbs, just 1.4lb to go!

Well I made my 2lb goal with time to spare!! Not sure how but anyway I’m on the way down again.

I think I may risk another goal but this time without a time limit. I need to lose 7lb to get down into the next stone so I think I will set my first goal at 3lbs. Would love to do that by Easter but as I’m away it may be too big a challenge. Anyway, that’s my next mini goal.

Hope you’re all doing well working towards your goals.

Great news on your result, Verano. I am tantalisingly close to hitting my mini-goal, but am currently 0.2lb short! Frustrating, as I have actually been slightly under the aimed for 8st 9lb at one point this past week, but it’s hasn’t been consolidated yet.

Currently have just over two weeks to our next trip away, with one planned meal out next Friday. I am still hopeful of cracking the mini-goal, which will get me to two whole stone lost and might even be able to get to ultimate goal of hitting my wedding weight from 20 years ago, 8st 7lb.

Anyway, currently able to report weight is still falling, but not yet at mini-goal weight. Hope everyone else will be able to report good results – looking forward to reading everyone’s reports soon. Good luck everyone.

Can report that I have finally consolidated a weight, which breaks through my mini-goal, coming in at 8st 7.8lb this morning, bringing me to just 0.8lb of my ultimate goal. Really pleased with this and I still have two weeks to get there, before we go away to Turkey for two months. Will expect to gain a little over that period, but I know I will be able to get back to target weight once I am home again.

Hope others are hitting mini-goals and targets too and look forward to reading about them soon.

Che king in after week 5. My mini goals were to get to 70kg by the end of March (5kg), to drink more than 2L a day and to get to 10kg steps daily.

    Water-check! Managing that easily now.
Steps-fail. Still only 6-8k but working on it.
Weight loss- don’t think I’ll manage it but might be close. 71.3 now so if I’m lucky and get the better off my transit issues I might be under 71 which will be a good start.

Congratulations to those who have achieved their goals!

Well done SunnyB! It just gets harder when you’re so close to goal. It’s good that you can go away knowing that realistically you will put on a little weight. After all two months isn’t just a holiday it’s part of ‘your life’ which needs to be lived! Enjoy!

Great to get so close to your goal Mariet. A kilo a week consistently is pretty hard to achieve so pat yourself on the back for your loss.

My modest goal of 3lb is still there but at the moment I’m happy to stand still as I’m away. May make it, we’ll see!!

My next goal is 68kg with no time set . That was my original end point, will get me to my lowest weight in 10 years and below the 28 BMI. After that I’ll reassess.. I never seriously thought I’d ever see 68 again!

    What a great forum!
I started the BSD diet on the 20th Feb 2017 and although skeptical I have lost 18lbs!!
I got the book off off Amazon when I died on the scales at 15 stone, which is I think 210lbs.
I’ve followed the diet almost religiously, but can do very little exercise cos of a medical problem’, and not drunk enough water!!!
I came on here today for some much-needed inspiration and found it!!
Boy, you are an inspirational lot!! Thanks for all the great stories and tips!!
My goal is to lose 12lbs in 6 weeks before my holiday to turkey
My long term goal is to weigh 10stone, I just dont know when!! Its seems nearly like a fantasy!!

I’m still no closer to my 3lb loss just yo-yoing with a pound or so but at least no major trauma after 5days away and only very loosely following BSD!!!! Have been indulging in too many ‘treats’ of wine and biscuits!!! I know the cause so also know the cure!

Hi pod good luck with you journey and your mini goal. I find it great to have small goals. Sometimes the ‘big picture’ is daunting but is still doable in time.

Hey pod – know what you mean about it feeling unreal. I’m nearing the end of my weigh loss now and it seems surreal to be so much smaller and feel so much better – and really, it wasn’t so hard (if you don’t count hunger pangs in the early days, occasional plateaux and the odd blip when things got away from me!).

I too am off to Turkey – next week actually – where do you go? We are based in Altinkum.

Well done everyone continuing to make progress towards those goals and don’t worry Verano, you will get there too. Back to basics and it will come right.

Have a good BSD w/e everyone.

I think mini goals are a great way to stay on track, especially when my initial goal weight is so far into the distance. Earlier this week I surpassed my 5% body weight loss and today I was able to cross off 1 stone mini goal so it seems fitting to log my next set of mini goals for April here:

    1) 10% bodyweight loss
    2) 1 1/2 stone
    3) BMI<28

I have no idea if I can reach these in the time frame as I have been so successful so far on my journey here that the dreaded stall may be just around the corner, but I know for certain that by following the 800F way of life and reading all the motivating posts on this forum, they must certainly be conquered at some point.

I have just squeaked under BMI 24 this morning for the first time, with a 23.95. Celebrated by having my hair cut and some small tastes of lots of (high carb mostly) goodies at the local artisan market, but only bought 5 bags of my favourite proper biltong in various flavours, and two wrapped cake slices that I reckon I can get three days out of each. One lemon drizzle, and one chocolate and liquorice! Deliciously dark taste on the latter. Still I haven’t actually had a meal yet today so will just have the one today and planning a large vegetable filled omelette to make the most of that meal. Shouldn’t be too bad overall, and will have some wine tonight as well. Good luck hitting your mini-goals everyone.

Just decided to add another mini goal for April – I’m going to walk off the daily calories that I eat on the treadmill (except for 4 days mid April when I’m away and won’t have access to a treadmill). This will incentivise me to eat less and watch more telly! It will also be a fun way of enhancing my calorie deficit for the day still further and ensure I even out my daily step count.

Frustratingly today was weekly weigh-in and the result was nothing to celebrate, as I am exactly the same as I was last Monday, so can’t report getting to my ultimate goal of 8st 7.8lb. Did manage to get as low as 8st 6.2lb during the week, but then I had some wine and champagne over the weekend and that screwed things up. Can report being able to get into and comfortably do up my wedding dress, which is a result I’m very happy to take.

Pod – we are destined for the same location in Turkey! Alitinkum is the old name for Didim, but as we have been going there for 24yrs now, I always use the original. We bought our apartment there 14yrs ago, so it’s very much home from home for us. This time we’ll be out there until 6th June, which will overlap your holiday I think. If you want any tips or recommendations give me a shout.

Hope lots of you will be reporting hitting mini-goals and final targets – good luck with your weigh-ins everyone.

SunnyB you have should leave your frustrations behind and be positive – no weight gain and you know why you didn’t lose. Today is the start of another week and another chance.

Also congrats on getting into your wedding dress. I am aiming for my going away out fit as my wedding dress is inaccessible at the moment. Not sure it will happen though, as even at the weight I was then, I suspect all the loose skin will get in the way.

Today I achieved April mini goal 3 – <28 BMI (27.9) so I will now have to amend that to <27 as we are only 3 days in and it feels like a too easy win.

Hi Pod, Sounds like a good idea. I’m doing the first few weeks on a turbo because I don’t want to push too hard so I want to get my cadence up to the recommended 80-90rpm slowly. Also if you don’t freewheel at all, you can convert the distance cycled into steps (see http://www.livestrong.com/article/187672-how-to-convert-exercise-bike-miles-to-steps/).

I did a small experiment on last night. 10min cycling at a cadence of 52 (told you I need to work on it!) covered 0.192 mi and burned 48cals (and it nearly killed me – I suspect the resistance is a bit high but I did it without stopping so will keep the resistance the same going forward to see progress). Later I covered the same distance on the treadmill (a lot quicker) and burned 16 cals. When I travelled 10min on the treadmill I burned 51cals so using the bike is definitely doable for both burning calories eaten and doing the equivalent of 10000 steps if that’s a goal too.

If your in, we could maybe start a new thread and track progress together

New mini goal cracked with Smart BMI (the one that takes account of age rather than the one size fits all BMI) of 35/70 which is exactly halfway in the healthy weight zone. I don’t expect to get to the middle of BMI so am quite happy with this and it gives me a bit of wiggle room under my target. Still increasing calories in a controlled fashion every day except Monday which I have retained as a fast day.

Help! I’ve just fallen off the wagon big time! This is what happened
Yesterday I Got up feeling full of cold and shivery, had yoghurt and berries, pottered around a bit all day
No lunch, didn’t feel like it
Had gammon and veggies for dinner and, mistake, half a Lidl protein roll
Read for a while, tried to find an instruction book for my old stationary bike, haven’t used it for that long can’t work the figures out!
Mistake number 2, starting planning Easter menus for when I’ve got a house full.
Then I started eating at about 10pm, mindlessly, and I’ve been eating all night, no sleep!
I have trouble sleeping so that in itself isn’t any different,
I’ve eaten all today’s calories in white toast and butter and hot chocolate, with the other half of the Lidl protein roll and nuts all thrown in for good measure!
I’ve logged it into my fitness pal and it looks horrific..
Why oh why did I do it? I know I’m not safe to be around bread, it’s my trigger, once I start I can’t stop, that’s how I got this fat. I’ll have to give myself a talking to, I’m the worlds worst comfort eater and before last night I thought I had it cracked! Oh well, here’s hoping I can still reach my mini goal before my hols.
Looks like a fast day today then!,

    Hi pod

Don’t give up, at least on a positive note you recognise that you had a bad day and gone way over your calorie allowance. We all have bad days. I keep a copy of The 8-Week blood sugar diet on the coffee table permanently for now staring at me….maybe put it beside your fridge to remind you what your doing every time you have an urge for something sweet. I always have a head of celery cut and put in a jug with about an inch of water at the front of my fridge door with a pot of humous and some peanut butter handy, both of which can be spread thinly incase of hunger moments that get me.
Ive found that if I have yogurt and berries in the morning it triggers my sweet tooth, so I have two eggs whisked and put in the microwave in a flat bottomed breakfast bowl with a a shaving of red leicester cheese on top, and keeps me going until lunch. Ive currently made up some protein bars which I keep in the fridge and they are also great for filling you up.
Im not sure if you have a cold or its to do with the diet maybe someone else has a view on this. Could you not get someone else to host to the Easter festivities?

Don’t give up it does work Ive only lost 6lb sofa but feel much better already, YOU CAN DO IT…please don’t give in.

    Hi Pod
No point crying over spilt milk, just get back on the wagon and recognise that this is generally what happens when you have something that is very high in carbs!
The insulin in your body signaled your brain that you need to give it more carbs as glucose is easier to metabolise than fat and the body just wants to do what’s easiest!
So really, eating the first bit of roll was your fault, but after that, you couldn’t help it!
It may be tough for the next few days (sometimes up to a week) to resist the carbs, but it’s best that you do so.
Good luck and let us know how you go.
    Cheers
    Linda

Sorry to read that things took something of a dive for you, pod, but what’s important now, is to refocused and get back on track. My advise is not to fast today – unless this is something you are accustomed to – as this could just make you struggle and potentially give into the carbs again. Just get back to the 800 and be really strict. Try to keep the carbs as low as possible for the next couple of days and if need be, increase the fats to ensure you feel full and satisfied.

Finally, be assure we all do stuff like this and the impact on the results is rarely as huge as we fear. Don’t be too hard on yourself for this transgression, yesterday was yesterday and today is a brand new start. Hope the rest of the week goes well for you – good luck.

Don’t worry yourself we are all here for you, and we are all the same. Just put it behind you, cope just with today, and acknowledge you have carb flu it’s good it means the plan is working, it will pass, have plenty of fluid, up your salt to prevent the side effects, and when you come out the other side you will feel FAB, done this before and it is worth it
So plan cope meal to meal, don’t worry all will be well.

Thanks for all your support. Some great thoughts for me to mull over. I haven’t eaten today yet, but will be eating veggies and beef soup later. I’ve fasted many times before so I know I’m ok to do it! I’ve kept busy today, in the garden and the garden centre buying and planning plants, well away from the kitchen.

I am not a lover of salt, and I’ve never added salt to cooking or on the table for 33 years, since my son was born.
I’m struggling to find ways to eat it , and also, why is salt so important, have I missed something? How much salt should you have a day.. I’ve obviously missed something in MM book. Also it’s strange buying full fat and concentrating on the carbs, eating low fat has made me fat, it’s hard to adjust your thinking.. I don’t eat enough fat so have to incorporate more in, then maybe l won’t see the “carb monster” again!
So anyway, thanks for all your help, and I’m just about to read eat fat say thin to get a handle on this!

I have celery and peanut butter and hummus, perhaps I should eat it!

The salt is important when drinking a lot and so flushing salt from the body. Low salt can cause weakness, low energy, irritability, muscle cramps and headaches amongst other symptoms, so it’s especially important if you have not previously been good at keeping well hydrated and so have increased fluid intake.

It takes a while to get your head round the ‘fat good, carbs bad’ ethos. Increasing fat intake will definitely help to make you feel sated and so probably not as tempted by the carby stuff. Think it’s time to stop worrying about yesterday, have a little something to eat and forgive yourself.

As someone else so wisely says- onwards and downwards!

Hi Pod, sorry to hear about your bad day but it is only one bad day out of what I am sure will be many good ones. As promised have start a new cycling thread CYCLING AWAY THE CALORIES and I look forward to us travelling the journey together when you feel able. I hope lots of fellow BSDers will join us along the way.

I am also grateful you have brought up the issue of salt. As I don’t eat any packaged food, don’t salt the veg when cooking them and drink 4-6l fluid a day, my salt intake is always low. I compensate for this by adding salt to eggs (and the occasional tomato) when eating them (used to eat eggs daily) but on this WOE my egg intake, and thus my salt intake, has gone way down. Also, with my increased exercise and thus increased perspiration (to put it delicately) , I realize that my salt levels must increase too. Up to now I hadn’t thought about it so thanks again.

As for my mini goals – still stuck on the same pound. That’s four days now and even worse, the scales showed an increase of 0.8lb this morning! But on the positive side, it’s still the same pound, and having continued to burn off the day’s calories every day (including yesterday’s higher than planned ones) I know the whoosh fairy must just be hiding around the corner testing my positivity. Well I will show her I can be positive in adversity and she WILL reward me with an extra whoosh at some point. I just know it (hope it’s soon though).

Good luck everyone else in the pursuit of your mini goals and I (and Pod I’m sure) look forward to having as many of you as possible join us in our journey CYCLING AWAY THE CALORIES.

Came in at ultimate goal this morning – 8st 7lb dead-on. That said, I am about to embark on just over 8wks away and know this result has not been consolidated and I will be putting on a couple of pounds, despite trying to stick with the BSD principles whilst away.

Anyway, I’ll be doing my best to keep control, using clothes and ketostix to indicate when I need to have a couple of strict BSD days to keep things from getting out of hand. That said, I will be having the odd glass of wine, etc. confident that I know how to get things back on track and that when I get home and find I have gained a couple of pounds (or three), I’ll be able to get back to my goal weight again and able to consolidate it.

I will dip into the forum from time to time whilst away, but it won’t be frequent, so good luck to all of you and I hope lots of you will be reporting hitting mini-goals (and ultimate goals) soon. Good luck to you all!

Good luck to you, too, SunnyB. Fantastic that you’ve reached your ultimate goal, just wonderful!👏👏👏 Also great that you have the confidence in yourself and your food management while you’re away for that length of time.

Hope you have a most wonderful holiday. 10 or 12 years since we spent some time in Turkey, loved every minute of it.

Well done SunnyB ,I know you must be feeling just great now ..and you deserve to be.For me the last stretch is the hardest to do and you have reached your Goal ready for your hols..how fantastic.

Peanut Butter Protein bars are still going down well…maybe a bit too much, however have just found out hubby has been having a sly one now and then.
I will hopefully be 8st 7lb by June ..I have definitely changed the way I look at food now and am constantly looking and comparing the nutrition data on the labels. Would you mind me asking what number you like your carbs to? I’ve never counted carbs before but definitely appears to be working for me. I have never really ate a lot of calories ..just the wrong ones…hence the muffin tops

Keep away from those Easter Eggs everyone and Good Luck to you all 🙂

Great news SunnyB. Enjoy your holiday.

Well done to all of you who have reached your latest mini goals. Mine was to lose 3lb by Easter but there is no way on earth that I will manage that. Holidays aren’t conducive to losing weight!!!!!

Anyway I do have a new goal but it’s not ‘mini’ so when I get home in a few weeks I’ll break it down into manageable chunks and report back then. In the mean time keep on keeping on ….

Well done SunnyB, great effort, have awesome holiday. Reached my mini goal few days early, happy to report weighed in 110kg, can’t remember last time l was at that weight. While visiting folks down south, picked up some of my old clothes that i had packed away, it fits! Had to buy some work trousers on the weekend, some of others l had , were making me look like a clown. My next mini goal is to get to 105kg by the time my better half goes jet setting to Borneo on 04 May. Have a good one all, and never bloody give up……

Well done bloke 41 on reaching your mini goal, and early too!
    Ultimate goal Sunnyb, great awesomeness!
After my night of eating carbs on Tuesday I was dreading weighing in today!
But I lost 3lb this week, yippee! One more week and I’ll have done the first 8 week Bsd.
Can’t believe how much I’m losing!
Anyway, 4 weeks to go and only 5lbs till my first mini goal, 13 stone. That will be a 2 stone loss!
Then I’ll have another mini goal, another stone loss. My ultimate goal was 10stone by October 2nd, the heaviest for my height to bring me in to the healthy range. Think l will revise that after I reach my mini goal.
    Onwards and downwards,

Here I am at the half way point of BSD1 and I have reached another mini goal today, 10% of my body weight. Only another 2lb and I hit my 11/2 stone (fingers crossed for the next Mondays weigh-in).

Congratulations everyone who have achieved one of their own mini goals this week and we mustn’t forget Theodora achieving her top prize goal!!!!
