    Hi All
Ten days late to join – having technology problems with phone and broadband!
I too am here for a retool, Greenjanet I understand exactly where you are coming from.
I am just maintaining – not losing weight but its not surprising as I keep eating more than I should.
I went to Spain for a long weekend with one of my friends – I came back and had only put a pound on!.
She is not a big drinker so one gin and tonic a night. Shows the effect that wine has on you.
Came back and got the usual cold from the plane air conditioning so really fed up!
Need to KOKO and keep within the food limits

Never too late Madmare! I’ve been ‘maintaining’ all year so know where you are coming from! I’m getting on my own nerves now!

It was mine and Allie’s 1st year anniversary on Monday, 13th since joining BSD. Does that make us old timers? 😁👏👏👏

Well I beat you both I’ve been maintaining a 7 st overweight weight for 2 years LOL
But now I’m in it to win it and I’m going to do lots of activity, laugh a lot and lots of posting on here as I find it keeps me very focused.
The hello thread in 2016 was a riot, and was truly the making of the plan for me.
So here’s to us all having a fab time getting busy with the fab BSD plan and having lots of laughs together.

Kazz it was my 19 month BSD-versary yesterday, I joined around the same time as Clarinet Cathy.
I mentioned before that easentially I have been maintaining since the start of the year. My weight yesterday was exactly the same as it was on 17 Jan. there’s been some ups and downs in between, but in a way it’s not a bad thing to have maintained for 8 months, even though I still have another 18kg to lose. When I look back on other years/weight loss journeys my usual pattern is to lose weight and then put it on again, so I’m looking at the past 8 months as being successful. Maybe not as successful as I had planned initially, but a success nevertheless as 1) I haven’t gained weight overall and 2) I’m sticking to this WOE and feeling the health benefits.
In saying all this, I do still need to lose 18kg. My plan was to ‘lose 18 in 2018’, I’m revising that goal – instead of 18kg I’m going to focus on losing 18lb, which is about 8kg I think. Then my goal for 2019 can be to lose the remaining 10kg.
I do enjoy this WOE (maybe a little too much as I’ve been maintaining not losing!). It’s satuday here so I had an indulgent meal of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon and strawberries and cream for a late breakfast/brunch 🙂
My problem is deciding what to eat when planning meals – so many delicious choices to choose from! I have loads of veg in my fridge at the moment so I’m going to make some coleslaw, roasted veg and soup today.
Hope everyone has a good weekend 🙂

    Hi all

I had to laugh at the “getting on my own nerves” comments: glad it’s not just me! I’m another January ’17 starter (hello SueBlue and ClarinetCathy!) and would like to join the second half of this challenge. I lost well over 2 stone on the BSD last year but have stalled a bit this year so far. First setback was dodgy scales that led me to believe I was around 137/8lb when in fact I was 142 🙁 But now have crept up to 146lb due to a combination of holidays, family celebrations, socialising and the long hot summer. In all these situations, wine is my downfall! (particularly as it is often accompanied by crisps or cheesy snacks …). Other than that I’m generally eating reasonably healthily and moderately – and until recently have been maintaining pretty well – but definitely now need a reboot!

So my aim is to get firmly on the downward trajectory by the end of this challenge then hopefully use the October challenge to zoom to below 140lb again – but properly this time!

Good luck to everyone else on this thread too X

Welcome to the zoomers for September. Once again, we share a similar story. I’ve been enjoying crisps a little too much but apart from that have stuck to low carb. I have an occasional g&t but mainly stick to sparkling water which I love and buy copious amounts of. I lost 1lb last week and then for no reason whatsoever, it popped back on! I seem to be finding it really difficult to lose the 5lb I’ve gained this summer.

One thing I am going to try is not being too hard on myself. I think some of us put a lot of pressure on what the scales say and I personally know that a “bad” weigh in can spoil my whole day. I did try not getting weighed for a whole month and I did feel very “free”. I weighed exactly the same after one month. When I see the scales going up and down the same few pounds it annoys me. I am trying hard to get back to 133 lb but 138lb seems to be where my body likes to be. keep plodding because we know what happens if we don’t. It goes on a whole lot quicker than it comes off.

SueBlue- I am very impressed with your positive mindset for BSD. You are a great example to us, You have remained focused and determined. Many congratulations to you on your success this year and going forward too,

    Keep plodding everyone!

Hey Dreams, good to see you! 🙂 There’s a few of us treading water it seems, but now my psoriasis is flaring a bit so I’m determined now to get right back to basics. Planned my menu’s for the week last night and my cupboard and fridge is a BSD dream! No excuses for me and I’m aiming to lose 7 lbs by next Tuesday, which is also my 56th b’day. This morning I weight 16.4! It can be done as long as I keep away from my weekend V, lime and sodas! Plus I’m concerned about the amount of plastic bottles I’m getting through with sparkling water and soda water. My recycling bin is a horror! So onwards and downwards, time to break this cycle!
Good luck to us all this week!

How’s your weekends been, I’ve been working long days all weekend, think I’m developing muscles in my muscles
We are moving my son and his family up next weekend he will be living in part of our property and there’s so much physical work to be done to prepare for a house loud of stuff and three people it will take two removal trips from Kent to Norfolk next Sunday and Tuesday after that so my plan may go fish and chip shaped in those days 😅 battling with the M25 and the dartford tunnel makes me want to do that.
But feeling good looking forward to weigh day tomorrow 😅
    Happy week everyone 🙋 jan

Hi Greenjanet – that sounds like stress stress stress! Will be lovely to have your son and his family nearby though and I assume a grandchild? Which part of Norfolk do you live? Beautiful part of the world. A group of us about 12 years ago, spent a long weekend in a windmill by the sea. Cley-next-the-Sea, Holt. It was mid December and very atmospheric and cold and windy! Had a wonderful time walking along the beach to the next town. Must go back to Norfolk one of these days. It’ll be lovely once they are all settled in and no Dartford tunnel ever again hopefully! 🙂

Hi Zoomers, my scales have been treading water for the last month as well. – Which is good because I have been so busy with work that I have been eating low carb but not cal counting for the month. – so thats at least positive.

SIGGHHHHHH!!! There’s a charity cake bake today… I’ve avoided despite a personal invitation to go view on the 14th floor. What happens, one of our guys comes back from lunch on the 14th with 3 boxes full of these home baked cakes, saying, “well, I didn’t bring anything back from Italy when on hols recently (as is the tradition), so thought I’d get these! C’mon everyone, help yourselves!” Well I haven’t been tempted but sometimes….. I could scream!!

    Morning all you lovely Zoomers
Anyone else weighed in yet, for this week for my first week I’ve lost 2 1/2 lbs which is way of my usual 7-8 lbs that I normally loose in my first week, but a combination of very long 12 hr working days all the time at the mo, and working with very heavy physical stuff so I think I’m building muscle, I’m feeling more toned, so I think I’ve lost more in theory, also had a few beyond exhausted days where my choices were not by me and not BSD friendly, 😅
But new week its on its way down that’s the important thing.
Kazz we live in Methwold a tiny village in West Norfolk, very much rural farmland, beautiful big skies and amazing sunsets, but I miss the prettiness of Kent we lived in Cranbrook which is renowned worldwide for its beautiful gardens and historic white weatherboarded Tudor buildings.
Yes it will be a relief when the move has happened hence all the work at the mo getting the barns ready to take another house load of stuff, and yes a 18 year old step son who will be living between here and Whitstable, he’s at university in London. So won’t see much of him.
But got to go and get another cuppa and get my shorts and work boots on and go and mix more concrete, we are putting up 6 foot high fences today LOL this girl knows how to dress and live , you should see me I look such a sight but needs must, and that’s the nice thing in Norfolk no one seems to notice, I even go to the supermarket like it. Hehe
Hope everyone has a fab week ahead.

A disappointing 1.2 lb gain for me this week! Have had a good week food choice wise so feel a bit down- no option for me but to keep on with the BSD way of life. There certainly are a lot of ups and downs on my journey- sadly too many ups and not enough downs at the moment.

Ah Cathy I feel your pain. On the one hand 1.2lb is not that much – and hopefully will come off again by next week. But it is frustrating to suddenly gain weight without any obvious explanation. BSD is a great long term WOE but still our bodies take their own course. Good luck for this coming week and here’s hoping for some downs (if that makes sense?!)

Greenjanet good luck with all your moving activities! And KazzUK I have psoriasis too: have you found that the BSD has affected it in any way? To be honest this end it doesn’t see to have made much difference one way or the other – though as I said in a previous post, wine is my downfall and I have an inkling that if I go teetotal for a while that might not only get my BSD back on track but could have a positive effect on the psoriasis too as I think alcohol is a trigger. Will keep you posted!

But I did lose 6cm from my tummy in 15d so trying to keep going. Hit 1000 cals today but the right food.
Watching “fasting” video on amazon prime which is very interesting to get re-inspired…but might need to up the calorie count.

Scottishlass I stuck to 800 calories during the 8 weeks, well most of the time anyway. Now I base my meals on 1000 calories per day. I find it easier to stick to, I don’t feel hungry and I’m still losing weight, not drastic losses each week but slow and fairly steady. This suits me as I still have 2 1/2 – 3 stone to lose.
This week I’ve lost 700g or 1.5 lb, I’m happy with that. This was despite a few glasses of wine on the weekend when my calories went up to about 1200-1300.
Cathy I’m sorry that the scales aren’t budging for you, hopefully you’ll see some results next week.
DCT – nice to “see” you again.
Well done to all of the losers this week, and good luck to everyone for the upcoming week 🙂

    Hi Catherine
I had severe hair loss after 12 weeks and 3 st loss on this plan in 2016
It was the reason I eased of the plan a bit and greatly increased my vitamin c and it resolved after about 6 weeks, but I agree it is very upsetting, but it will resolve so keep your chin up, also treat your hair very gently no vigorous brushing and avoiding tight hair accessories I found helped minimise the hair loss

Hi CC! Just idly reading posts here with my morning coffee and noticed – (a while ago now!) – you mentioned crisps. (Hope in the interim yu have kicked th habit but f not . . . 🙂 Im currently in week 6-7, and about two weeks in, I had a CRAVING for my Ryvita crispbreads which once were my lunches with cheese, cold meats, tomato, vegemite etc., or an afternoon snack of Vitaweets with vege and butter! The CRUNCH was what I SO WANTED!!! Sharing my craving rant, two friends recommended the Pork Bits . . . Pork Krackles here in Australia. Coming in a “chip look-alike” packet, 50gs a pack, and around $2, they are SO NICE! Calories need to be watched . . . but with no carbs – and some willpower . . . I seem to be satisfied with maybe 5-6 pieces and usually have them with some dip. I feel Im having something contraband but at no extra price hehehehehe! And it fills several needs. Also handy if youre going out (to take your own snackers!) – or if someone drops by THEY can have something different! Save me having “things for guests” and “things for me!!!” ‘cos Im here more frequently than guests and while in some instances my willpower is like steel . . . we are all after all human 🙂

Hi there ScottishLass 🙂 I too have has issues with not actually “feeling full” – nor in some cases – satisfied. However for me, it is mid-winter in Australia and temps have been lower than usual. Always a time to look for warm comfort foods. Plus I believe with my weight loss – (around 11kgs + around 2 stone) – there is less of me to keep the rest of me warm, and so my body is hunting for fuel. Even this morning with a good high protein brekkie of bacon, leek and mushrooms sweated off in butter knob . . . plus coffee with fc milk and a dollop cream – it was a short 2.5 hours and I was in need of lunch! Im answering the calls . . . as it seems (on reflection) – there havent been many days before or since BSD – that breakfast to lunch havent been short – (need more food) – interludes. Plus if I were to have another coffee now . . . it most probably would raise my BSL . . . and . . . in another 1-2 hours, it will be at a high to eat again! SO I have figured out it is best for me to eat another MEAL now . . . and do a 6 hour stretch to my dinnertime 🙂 with maybe giving myself some yoghurt and the sad looking strawberries – (otherwise thy will need to be discarded!) – if the hungry caterpillar squirms again 🙂 So . . . given it is winter, 6-7 weeks into the BSD, with my body being in a CONSTANT state of change as evidenced in so many ways right now . . . any routine is being given the flick – and I see my path as nurturing myself to assist in the transition of the overall WoL and WoE from here on in . . . staying within the BEST guidelines as BEST I can – for the BEST results possible . . . whatever that takes, and eventually is/will be – BEST for me 🙂 Advice and experience from all those contributing here are always considered valuable because experience is priceless knowledge.

Thank you for for sharing regarding the pork bits. I am a strict vegetarian so they wouldn’t be something I could try. I do appreciate the kind thought. I had a really good week last week when not a crisp passed my lips. When I weighed myself on Tuesday I was 1.8 lb up on the scales and was so disappointed. I’m feeling very stressed this week because my car has been written off and guess what……. Ive eaten some crisps! The stress and upset has really knocked me off plan so hopefully I will be back on track very, very soon. It’s just a blip and in the 20 months of being on BSD I’ve never been out of control so I hope I will dust myself down after the weekend and get back to it again.

🙂 Hi CC! Glad to offer suggestions which have worked for me and others of they can help anyone 🙂 I too have found stress will elevate my BSL’s . . . past three days with LOADS of bills, COLD, indecisive over a few things . . . and as a result feeling a little anxious – Ive seen change in my waking readings. Doubt it is food related as nothing much has change there and if I stress over the ever-so-slightly elevated BSL then it will rise even further! Catch 22! Empathise with the loss of your vehicle which is SO INCONVENIENT . . . needing to find a replacement – all the resultant paperwork and actually getting used to the new vehicle isnt a cakewalk. oops!!! (Walk in the park is maybe a better analogy!) All the best to you getting through this hiatus and back to the WoE soon 🙂

Cathy it could be that stress is the cause of the weight gain. I’m no expert but I’ve read about how when we are under stress our cortisol levels rise, which in turn affects blood sugar levels and causes cravings.
I hope your car situation gets sorted out soon and in the meantime take care x I’ve had numerous blips, the trick is I think not to let them derail you for too long.

Hi there! I tend to agree with you re the stress . . . the past few days Ive had a bit on my mind – sleeping is effected . . . I seem anxious and hungry. I do agree we are sometimes SO HARD ON OURSELVES we BLAME ourselves if the “desired” result isnt achieved every minute of every day 🙂 I KNOW I need to police my attitude if there are blips . . . and look to a day where there was a positive result – probably not that far before and applaud my body for achieving what it was capable of doing in the current cirumstances !!!

THank you for the clue re cortisol. Ive taken a long hard look at my circumstances this morning and now believe THIS could be something I need to investigate – as anxiety and anxious reactions are a huge part of my life. (I wont go into my personal details) – but . . . like many others living alone . . .(and in some cases with partners too Im sure!!!) – EVERYTHING is mine to remember, organise, do or plan for. Sometimes Im so mentally exhausted from sorting out issues, I cant even enjoy a TV programme cos there is no more room in the brain to take in plot or details 🙂 So thank you for that information re cortisol! In spite of this I HAVE had amazing success with BSD 8 weeks – (first round completed today!) – and looking forward to the next 8 🙂 This is now my lifestyle and Im loving all the benefits – which with pride proudly showing . . . the many compliments Im receiving 🙂 Thanks everyone here for contributing so much to my success thus far and of course Dr MM 🙂

Hi and thank you for congratulations 🙂 Unsure of my total loss because I dont own scales . . . and came into this purly to reduce BSL’s and avoid medications 🙂 BUT maybe 3 weeks ago . . .? I KNOW I had discarded 11kgs . . . thats around 2 stone so quite amazed at that result. Clothes falling off ones body is a good indication somethings going on! Im looking forward to tweaking things a little more this time around . . . Ive permitted this round to have been :getting used to the way of things” – within the boundaries . . . but not weighing or counting anything . . . because I was so ill, stressed and depressed when I started, it was all a bit too much really. As there has been light at the end of the tunnel from maybe 7-10 days in, Im most grateful for the improvements in the BSL’s, and endeavouring to present to the Endocrinologist a record on steady readings which will give me greater credence to be allowed to continue in this direction and delay or not even consider – (would be the preferred option!) – medications for BG 🙂 given how ill the meds made me and insulin injections just dont bear thinking about 🙁 But with the readings reduced SO MUCH Im now very optimistic 🙂

Well done eating for life 🙂 I realised you will be coming into autumn in the uk now so would need jumpers. It is the first day of spring here in Australia.
I would LOVE to be 74.2, that would mean I’d only be 200g from my dream weight, a goal I hope to achieve by this time next year.
In saying that though I’m happy today because I had a sneaky weigh in and am 92.6 – so only 2.7kg to go for my birthday goal, which is to get under 90kg. I have 3 weeks left so it’s feeling like it’s achievable.
Having a nasty cold/flu has actually helped me this week. Although I’ve been eating “off plan” foods, I have stuck to 900 calories or less and drunk a lot of water and herbal teas.
I treated myself to a Twinings infuser bottle yesterday, and some infuser bags. Have yet to try it but the flavours look interesting. They are basically tea bags for cold water infusion. I do get a bit tired of drinking plain water sometimes so thought I’d give these a go.
It’s Fathers Day here tomorrow and I have all my family visiting. As I’m not well I’ve just bought frozen finger food type stuff that I can just heat in the oven for them. I’ve decided I’m going to have some soup and veggie sticks with hummus, and maybe some strawberries and cream for dessert. Strawberries are down to $1 a punnet at the moment so I’ve been enjoying them more than usual 🙂
Have a good weekend everyone and as eating for life says let’s KOKO!

I thought this would suit those of you in the northern hemisphere who are coming out of the summer holiday season, and also people like me who have treated much of 2018 as a BSD holiday, and have been maintaining not losing (well in my case until recently anyway).

I did do a 24 hour fast between 2.30pm on Friday and 2.30pm on Saturday. Mainly because I’d eaten way too much the day before and felt gluttonous! Not a good feeling!
    Wishing us all good luck!

Well done SueBlue – I’ll be joining too! I’m a teacher and just coming to the end of summer holidays when I always get out of routines and good habits. Now it’s Back to School and Back to BSD! I’ve been maintaining over summer – so nothing too drastic – but do want to plough ahead and shed a few more pounds by the end of the October challenge. Look forward to seeing you all there 🙂

Thanks for your brilliant suggestion SueBlue. Maintaining is more difficult than I thought and I am going to use the new zoom as a fresh start as a means to lose some of the extra weight I’ve put on with the focus on losing and not maintaining! I have not been on the scales for two weeks so I will jump on them on Tuesday and use that as my start weight and use the next four weeks to get some serious focus going on doing what I know can be done. I’ve still not managed to get my insurance pay out and new car sorted after it was written off and the stress has had a massive impact on my motivation over the last few weeks which has surprised me. Whatever the scales say on Tuesday I will post and will start my four week journey from there. I am aware that I have been slowly slipping into dangerous habits and losing the control I had. Thank you for keeping me motivated to work hard!

Thanks everyone for you comments. I have set up the new thread ready Wednesday, after this current 4 week challenge has ended – “Holidays are over, let’s Zoom towards October!
4 week challenge ending 2 Oct”.
It’s good to know that there will be some familiar names along for the ride 🙂
I’m still not well, but getting better. The upside to having this nasty virus is that I’ve lost 3kg over the past week, almost makes it worth it! I’m now down to my lowest weight since November last year – Just need to keep the momentum going.
Cathy I can sympathise with how dangerous habits start to form and how quickly you can lose control – that’s what happened to me over Christmas/New Year and our summer holidays. Best to nip it in the bud.
Wine is my downfall, with being sick though I have completely lost the taste for it, which has definitely helped with the loss this week!

SueBlue I bought some of those Twinings cold water infusion teabags for my daughter, I haven’t tried them myself but she loves them (she’s 14). I’m not fond of herbal tea as I prefer savoury like chicken broth, but I should give them a go. Did you like them? Which flavours?

You’re lucky that illness makes you eat less – I’ve been down with the flu too but I comfort eat! 2 kg on.

I’m in Australia so I haven’t been ‘on holidays’, but I’m one of those who’ve been having a bit of a holiday from dieting! So I’ll be Zooming towards October with you all.
