Welcome to one and all, oldies, newbies, diabetics, dieters and lurkers.

Now winter is definitely upon us we are going to have to look forward to keeping ourselves warm and well. There are plenty of things to look forward to, maybe you celebrated Halloween last night (tonight) or Bonfire Night. But dont lose sight of Christmas coming soon – I am allowed to mention it now we are into November. I have just ordered a new dress which I am looking forward to looking good in so my mind is set on a few pounds off in the next 2 month.

Come and join us and feel the caring support you will receive here.

Im selecting recipes that are easy and can be done easily! Then the shopping list. I’ll have to modify it a little because I’m on the road a lot and tend to eat in the car. Looking forward to a new body and some new recipes!

Hello S-G & thank you for setting up the November thread. I think nourishing homemade soups may be called for now 😀
I tried really hard this last week with two fast days but have only lost 0.5lb so I’m rather disappointed but oh well onwards & downwards 🤞🤞😀
Good luck everyone for next week 🍀🍀

Welcome to MTNGRL, hope you can reach your goal before your surgery. We are on a cruise in 6 months – Northern Norway.

Weight is still 74kgs, I remember when this was my demon number and I did get passed it but 2 holidays later I am back up. Still keeping on….

Hi Tulip, nice to have you back with us. We all know how good it feels when we are healthier, it impacts on so many other areas of our lives like confidence, how we look, how we feel, knowing we are in control of our lives. Keep on….

Well I am feeling quite pleased with myself because yesterday I managed twenty minutes Jane Fonda dvd exercises & two fast days yesterday & today plus 4200 steps so far today walking to things in the village. My knee still hurts but is slowly beginning to become more usable 😀
    Bravo S-G losing 7lbs in weight 👏👏
Welcome MTNGRL125 & welcome back Clare & we all need to stick with it now with Christmas & all the tempting treats around now 🫣🤔

Hi all, Good for you Margaret, you put me to shame with your recently operated knee. I just cant seem to be bothered even after getting my yoga mat out of storage.

My 7lb loss has dropped back to 6lbs after quiz night (we came second) but I am now determined to stick to it, even refused a glass of wine last night.

My new dress has arrived and I am pleased to say it fits, even though I ordered a size smaller. Could still do with a few pounds off for the back bulge but, another good thing is it doesnt need taking up.

    Keep on…..

Oh excellent S-G it’s so pleasing to be able to wear a smaller size 👏👏😀
I am feeling frustrated because I thought I had done well this week with two fasts & more exercise but I weighed this morning & I have gained 0.4lbs! I know it isn’t much weight but I was expecting to have lost 2 lbs😕
Oh well I will keep recoding what I am eating & try & do better next week. I continue with TRE because I don’t eat breakfast & I will try to short mat bowl on Monday.
    Keep going everyone 👍

Hi there, how is everyone getting on.

Today is a public holiday in France for Armistice Day. The French are very big on commemorating war dates like VE, DDay etc. Just means it is quiet and no post. Some supermarkets are open but thats about it.

    Hello.
Just wanted to pop by. I obviously haven’t been sticking to any sort of plan lately! Anyway, we leave the ship on Monday for 10 days in a hotel where food will be far more ‘controllable’ …. hopefully!
Sorry to see the November thread is so quiet but I’m guessing that’s because everyone is so busy sorting out recipes and making food plans for the winter?? Hibernating can be healthy !
    Hope everyone is well.

Hello everyone & I have just weighed & have gained 0.5 lbs & looking back half a pound is all that I have lost since 1st October! It’s very frustrating & with my husbands birthday tomorrow & a family gathering with the extra wine nibbles food & cake on offer I am sure to gain more weight. Next Wednesday it’s my birthday & we will go out to dinner next Friday but I will try to do better the week after next 🤞🤞I keep on trying but am finding it difficult to get back to eating low carb with the temptation this week of some excellent seeded wholemeal sour dough bread! To cap it all my husband lost two pounds this last week after eating much more than me but good for him of course & rather demoralising for me 🤔
Oh well the weeks running up to Christmas & then the new year is going to be very challenging diet wise & I suppose it’s just trying to monitor eating on a daily basis!
Keep on going everyone all we can do is try to do our best to look after ourselves 🤞🍀🍀

Hi all, still dithering around 74kgs, Dont know why I worry about my weight so much as it is my BG that is more important, but the 2 can be connected.

Still trying to get down to 71kgs for Xmas but it is looking bleak.

Gone down to 73.6kgs so that is progress. It takes me back to having lost 7lbs since September. Not the 14lbs I wanted but still 3.5 weeks left. Only one night out during that time.

Hope you are all doing okay. Feeling sad I seem to be here on my own most of the time.

Hello, returning “oldie” here! Lovely to see a few names that I recognise, such as Sunshine-girl, Verano, Wendy1947 and Tulip1 to name a few. “Waves”. I think it must be about 5 years since I was last here. What a lot has happened since then…. I’m newly retired (5 months) and still battling on with my Achilles heal – white crusty bread! I am hoping by re-joining I can give myself the incentive I need to get back in control. Since retiring, I’ve got into a rather naughty but nice habit of taking mum and I out / shopping twice a week and we then have a nice coffee and cake or share a fish and cone of chips each week for lunch – I need to reign it in and become accountable again! It is good to be back and nice to see a few familiar faces! 🙂 I hope everyone is well?

    Welcome back Kazz 🙂

I’ve been not terrible (re healthy eating), but not perfect either……although I have lost a few pounds so the overall trend is going down a tiny bit….really, not enough consistency as yet tho!

Exercise-wise, I have been regularly putting in what is needed to increase fitness, so that is one positive.

    Love to all xx

Hi everyone, Kazz nice to see you back – tip of the week, share the cake or only take one really mindful bite of yours just to get the taste pleasure. We are dragging out our breadmaker this week to try it out before we put it up for sale, that means having lovely crusty bread in the house. Will hopefully get hubby to freeze half.

Hi Tulip1, it is not easy to get motivated to exercise when it is cold and miserable (yes, even here in France). I managed 2 sessions this week.

Lost another smidge and down to 73.5kgs. Will try not to be tempted by the bread.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

    Quick ‘hello’. Welcome back Kazz.

Just three more sleeps before I’m back in my own bed, own home, own kitchen and able to eat my ‘own’ food again. It’s been wonderful to have such an extended holiday but food wise it’s been a disaster. In saying that I’m so looking forward to getting back into my healthy eating routine again. I just hate eating carbs!

Hope everyone is doing well. November is almost over so maybe soon time to start thinking about December???

Can’t believe this year is almost over. I’m not going to look back to January rather I’m going to focus on looking/moving forward from December onwards…. one day at a time!

Hello All. I am back from my travels at last. I had hoped I could continue my healthy eating and regular fasts while away but it was not to be. I have not yet had the heart to step on the scales to see the damage! In my defense, I had some unexpected difficut events to negotiate which also steered me off track somewhat. So good to have this friendly and supportive forum to report to. Will read through the posts to catch uup…

Hi all, looks like it is time to come up with a new title for December. Also, it will be my last time at running the thread, I think 4 years is long enough when it is now down to one person. Maybe we could think of a longer-term idea – 3 months, 6 months, a year, or seasonal, spring, summer etc. I am not leaving the site, just giving up setting up this thread.

That said, December is looming and I will set something up in time for Monday.

I am still under th 74kgs but barely. Going out for a meal on Monday so want to lose a bit before so I can never see the 74kgs again. Have a good weekend.

Thank you for all your past efforts S-G & four years is a long time . ⭐️⭐️
I have just weighed & amazingly have lost two pounds but did walk 6.500 steps on a day out to Brighten yesterday despite a pasta lunch & a glass of wine. I find December to be a dangerous month for food temptations & the amount of money spent with two more birthdays in my immediate family. It is so easy to go overboard in every way with social occasions & the difficulties in resisting joining in with canapés, snacks, alcohol, & the continual bombarding commercial pressures to buy more more & more of everything. As you can see it’s not my most favourite time of year & I have already completed my Christmas gift shopping for my family with things they have said they would like rather than guessing what they might like!! I do however enjoy eating Scottish shortbread & sherry trifle, no jelly allowed in my family recipe & mincepies🫣🙀
I hope everyone has a good next week 🤞🤞

    Hello.
S-g you’ve done really well to keep this thread going for four years. I know how hard it is to be ‘responsible’ for keeping threads going.

Looking at the last few months it seems we have a very small group of contributors who steadfastly post with lots of ‘dipper in and outers’. I agree that a longer thread might be better because maybe then we won’t fall into the trap of ‘the month is almost over so might as well start anew next month, so no point in posting’.

I like the idea of a three month/seasonal thread. I think we have different motivations with the seasons and maybe more people can relate to that.

I’d like maybe ‘Delicious December’ to let the monthly thread go out with a bang. December is a ‘delicious’ month and there’s lots of ‘low carb’ deliciousness about if you seek it out!

Anyway, I’m now home from my travels and I’m really embarrassed to report a 0.6lb gain. Honestly, after my many indulgences over five weeks I was expecting maybe 7 or even a 10lb gain! I guess there’s something to learn from this, well for my body. I was eating three meals a day with no IF. I was walking a lot more than normal but then I wasn’t cooking, washing, ironing etc. so maybe that evened out. I was eating plenty of protein with eggs lots of mornings and I was also eating even when I wasn’t hungry… very naughty. There was also the odd dessert or three! Anyway, I was shocked and it’s really made me rethink about the way I’m eating. I think that maybe switching and changing our eating patterns occasionally ‘wakes’ our bodies up. Don’t know just guessing. Nonetheless, I’m looking forward to some good low carb home cooked meals!

Hope everyone is well and looking forward with enthusiasm to new threads.

I really appreciate everyone who keeps the regular threads going….seasonal/ every 3 months sounds great, I’ll be very grateful whatever you decide, just somewhere we can pop in as needed. Is Wendleg Wendy still about? I may have missed her being away or something else, due to not always checking the threads…..?

    Love Tulip x

Hello everyone & I agree with the suggestions that a three month timed thread would be useful & would enable a longer period to be able to focus on & achieve a better weight loss. Looking back on my last three months all I seem to have done is bounce one or two pounds on & off but really have achieved very little weight loss. I am looking forward to January when I feel that I can refocus & set myself a more realistic goal over a three month period.
A delicious December certainly would represent the food available during the festive period & an enjoyable time to be had spent socialising with friends & family. This time of year can be very stressful trying to plan for hosting, gifting & to not eat or drink too much 😀. Let us try also to be kind to ourselves & each other 👍😍

Thread set up under Starting the BSD – Welcome to Delicious December 2025. Some are new starters and they are very welcome but I want to see our regulars supporting this thread.

Nearly had a disaster yesterday. We are thinking of selling our breadmaker as not used in 10 years but had to try to see if it stil works. So hubby made a loaf and the smell alone was enough to drive me back onto carbs. Although not quite. I resisted by having half a slice of the crust end with butter. Yes it was delicious. He asked if I wanted another slice with my brunch this morning and I said NO! Thereby leads to addiction. No more bread and I only gained 0.1 of a kilo. Still down to 73.65 and will be lower still before our night out.

    See you all next month,

Well done S-G setting up the December thread & resisting the carbs 👏👏
I have just come back with my husband from watching the Royal Ballet filmed production of Cinderella which was very enjoyable but I was very chilled sitting in a cold down draft & have warmed up having a Brandy & some nibbles 🫣🙀
I will be baking salmon for supper with creamed spinach & some boiled sweet potato 😀
We will also enjoy watching the results from Strictly from Dancing on tonight.
How is your house sale going S-G?
Take care everyone & see you in December!
