    Hi everyone,
That’s me completed 8 weeks and I’ve lost a total of 35 lbs (two and a half stone !!!!). Very pleased with the results, I’m feeling a lot healthier and looking a lot slimmer, my friends (both of them ๐Ÿ™‚ ) have commented on how much better I look.
I want to lose the same again. I’ll not do this over the same period, but I’m sticking to this type of eating as it’s now becoming normal and I enjoy my meals.
That’s the first time in my life I’ve not had an Easter Egg (or two or six). My wife bought me one and it’s still in the dining room unopened. Once I get down a bit more I’ll have the odd treat, like a bit of my Easter egg from the dining room ๐Ÿ™‚
So far I’ve lost around 4 inches from my waist and around 7 inches from my stomach.
Keep up the good work everyone, it’s great to read your posts. Don’t let it get you down when your weight loss stops for a few days, it happens to us all, think of it long term and how you’ll feel and look in a few weeks time.

Hello, everyone! I took everyone’s advice and weighed myself this morning, instead of the usual once a week, which would have been Monday… So, to my greatest delight, I have lost 1.2kg in 5 days! I am really happy, so now very keen to get on the scale on Monday to see it tell me something even more favourable. With this lastest weigh-in I also finally cracked the 90kg barrier, not by much, but it’s below this mark: 89.8kg. I am ashamed to say that I have not been below 90kg for years, so very happy.
I also bought the Ketostix, but have not used them yet and more goodies for rest of the weekend, food-wise. Had fresh prawns with red slaw salad with a little bit of creamy herb and lime dressing and for desert two table spoons of full fat greek joghurt, 3 strawberries, a handful of blueberries topped with a few pine nuts… Oh, and I bought some green leaf tea based flower and peppermint liquorice tea…. Hhm, so delicoius.
I think my tastebuds are really changing: brushed my teeth last night and got a shock that the usual toothpaste I have always used suddently tastes kind of sweet, very soapy and like a real chemical cocktail. Bought new toothpaste when I was out and about, because there is no way I can continue to use the old one, truly terrible. Has enyone else experienced that?

Thanks for your replies and encouragement Bill1954, Hashimoto & Pmshrink and all who commented on their changing sense of taste &/or smell. Congrats Bruno on your great results too. Its so gr8 to be digging out my size smaller clothes. (Glad I didnt toss all of them out.) I’m promising myself some new clothes when I reach my goal. Then im throwing out all the fat clothes! Do others celebrate or reward themselves when they reach their weigh in milestones?

Hashimoto, I am glad that I am not becoming a” taste freak” after all:-)…. When I bought this new one today, I never thought about looking at the ingredients, but I remember someone telling me that there is actually a toothpaste for diabetics? What does this mean? Do all the so callled normal ones, have that many sugary things in them that it could have a negative impact for diabetics… That sounds horrendous and outrageous, it this would be true. I will have a look at the ingredients as well…. What kind of reply did Lynne get? and what can they do, not much I suspect, they wont change their recipe for a handful of people … and they probably dont care … Hope I dont have to go back to the future and use “charcoal” instead ๐Ÿ™‚ lol! A horrible thought just cane into my mind…. When I was really little, my mum used a kiddie. proof toothpaste, I guess to get me used to brushing my teeth, I still remember that the paste was pink and tasted like strwaberries. My sister and I often used to squeeze the whole contents of a tube into each others mouths… We ate the stuff, by the tube full, and naturally this made my mum really angry. Silly little kids…we were ๐Ÿ™

Hi inka, I now suspect diabetic toothpaste will contain artificial sweeteners. Recent research shows artificial sweeteners do some nasty things to you.

I am going out to buy some toothpaste to check the packets.

    Hi All,

I started the diet on Tuesday morning at a start weight of 21st 2 (eeeek!). I had a wee peak on the scales this morning as an interim weigh in before the full first 7 day weigh and was astounded to see a figure of 20st 3. It’s been 5 days. I am totally astounded.

I know some of that will be water weight and slight deviations due to times I weighed etc but the fact still remains. I’m really feeling the difference in such a small timeframe, I made a vow to walk to work as part of me getting more active. It killed me on Tuesday as where I live is really hilly but as the week has gone on it’s got easier. Hell, my wedding ring is even loose now! Very happy bunny and extremely motivated, just as the book says. So happy I started.

Hope everybody is doing good and enjoying the M diet =) I know I am.

Also, regarding sweetened toothpaste (which also has triclosan, an anti-bacterial which is certainly unnecessary, even detrimental), good old salt and bicarb soda has been a family stand-by for years.
Survived big hubby-birthday dinner yesterday and back on the wagon. (Boy, that Penfold’s Bin 28 was yummy, tho.)
    Keep on keeping on all!!

Georgiarose, interesting re toothpaste, i have used arm and hammer bicarb toothpaste so will have to go back and check their packaging. Wasn’t very happy when I read titanium dioxide was an ingredient!

Is it the penfolds having an effect or do you think it could be lower BP? A few of us have had that but mine sorted itself by week 7.

    Hi guys
I am just starting Week 6.
    Starting weight 101kg, now at 94kg (15.9 stone to 14.8? so I’ve lost approx 15 lbs/7kg)
I’ve been amazed how well I feel, and losing the constant hunger has been great. I did have a bit of trouble over Easter – so many food traditions – and I allowed myself a 2 easter eggs, 2 hot cross buns and a few tiny bites of dark chocolate over the weekend. My triggers are social eating more than anything, I can feel a bit deprived or left out when I can’t eat what others are having, but I recognise that my body is different. I tell myself my body is built for survival in hard times – just that we have too much food around now!

My weight loss has been moderate, not fast, and with a few plateaus, so all the posts about others having slow periods or bouncing up a little are very encouraging.
Best answer to feeling hungry has been to increase my salt intake. I was craving nuts all of a sudden and thought I needed the fat, but it was actually the salt. And drinking heaps of water seems to drop my weight – but with a 24-48 hour delay!
Looking forward to the 8-week line, I’m not sure what I’ll do then. Maybe keep going on 800-Fast for a bit longer?

Also I found that I felt really sick the next day after drinking one vodka with diet soda. So I’m off alcohol for the 8 weeks, did anyone else find they got sensitive to alcohol? I’m guessing it is something to do with changing liver function?

Hi fluffyslippers , I think the lower calorie intake also affects our reactions to alcohol!

A lot of us are carrying on after the 2 weeks. I’ve increased my calories but still sticking to the principles of the diet. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Fluffyslippers
Your weight loss has been tremendous. Well done you! I think your indulgences over Easter were just realistic, if we can manage to have a little bit of something on special occasions without looking to turn every day into a special occasion then that’s a win-win for me. It takes time to develop new habits and to ditch habits of a lifetime so I’m sure you will develop your own strategies in social situations over time.

On the alcohol, I agree with you but also probably we are drinking on more of an empty stomach now than we ever used to. I don’t drink much but I had a few last night while at a reunion do for work. I really can’t cope with the hangovers but I couldn’t before the diet either!

End of week 2. Only lost a pound this week, due to eating carbs on my birthday and having wine then and on a night out with friends.

Total weight loss of 5 lb. I’ve also lost an inch of my waist. That feels more impressive than the weight loss.

Feeling fine other than finding it hard to drink enough water. Will try harder.

I haven’t weighed in since the end of my first week back on the 8th March, due to three family birthday parties, two meals out with friends plus Easter. I’ve only lost another 1.1 kilos since then, but given the amount of socialising, meals at restaurants and dinner parties, I’m quite happy with that. Prior to this I would have been lucky not to have GAINED that amount.
I’ll definitely be extending beyond the original 8 weeks because I’ve had to break it too many times over the last couple of weeks, especially as I still have around 14 kilos to go.
I find this forum helps keep me on track, reading everyone’s awesome success stories, how they’ve struggled and overcome them. Thanks everyone, for all your posts.
