Yowser, enjoy your enforced relaxation and reading. Glad your sister is doing do so well now.Today has been a busy one, with a few positives to report ….
🙂 fasting is going well … 24hrs in now and it hasn’t been as tough as I feared. The hunger pangs have been minimal and a diversionary tactics have worked well.
🌸 visit to the local garden centre, managed to be quite restrained, only buying a few small plants and two big bags of compost.
👗👖🧥 dropped clothes off at the dry cleaners. That’s a job that’s been pending for too long.
🙂 quick visit to and catch up with GS. He’s struggling with mental health issues, but was pleased to receive some new plants and show me his garden successes.
Looking forward to setting up a couple of new planters tomorrow and refreshing a few others too. What about you? -
It’s been another busy day, so I can report some positives…..
🛏 bed made up fresh, so looking forward climbing into bed tonight.

Hello my positive friends, today is the first day of meteorological autumn, the start of a new month and brings with it some positives too.
🧥👗 hand laundered some clothes … things I’ll want to pack for our autumn trip. There’re still a few bits to do, so will do another batch tomorrow.
👗 tried on two dresses which had been too snug to wear … now fitting nicely … yay!!!
🎄 finished putting together the little advent calendar gifts for youngest GD’s, ready to post to her mum. We won’t be back in the UK until 6th Dec, so wanted to get that sorted before we go away.
Three positives are enough for me today … what about you? -
Well done SUNNY on just sliding into those two dresses! 👏👏What a lovely slinky feeling that is!xx
My positives today
*~ Sister told she will be discharged from rehab the week after next. She ( and we) are so excited!
*~ Going to cinema tomorrow pm. It’s Cinema Day or similar title, tickets £3! A good way for Beau to forget all about fretting over the Liv- Ev Derby match for the afternoon, plus first time we have been to the flicks together since before first lockdown.
*~ Will be seeing a lot of my furry grandchild over the weekend as DD and hub are away. Good chance for me to have some games and relaxation with our little stripey Prince!😄 he really is good medicine when he curls up with me,I can feel my bp go down!

Great news on the dresses Sunny.
Even better news for your sister Yowzer. Let’s hope that all this rehab has really helped her.
As for me still readjusting to having to make my own bed and cook my own meals!!!
I’m not going to post any specific “positives” but suffice it to say I have “no negatives”!
So all is good here.
We have a busy week ahead …. friends for drinks on Wednesday, out with friends for Thai meal Thursday, friends here for dinner Saturday and then the highlight, grandsons here Sunday.
So forgive me if I don’t post much.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend. -
Yowser, so pleased that your sister will soon be home again. Hope you enjoyed the cinema visit. Really can’t remember the last time I was in a cinema … at least 15yrs ago!
V, so glad that life is rosy for you and you have lots of social events coming up…. enjoy.Positives from me today …..

Has been a quiet day, but not one without positives …
🌧 yippee….. it has rained properly today. Not a downpour, but several prolonged steady showers. I’m sure the plants in the garden are sighing with relief.
🙂 OH did some DIY replacing some water pipes, which means when we come home after our trip, we can choose new carpet for the stairs and landing.
🍽 just finished my evening meal and embarked on another fast🙂What were the positives that popped into you day? Please share them.

*~ Doing well so far on my Sept low carb regime..just in nick of time, was getting to the stage where I was like Homer Simpson, almost needing a prying board to prise me off the sofa!
*~ Bumped into old friend ! Hadn’t seen her for quite a while. She had lovely news, has a new man in her life! I already know him,he’s a great guy,I’ve been wanting to pair him up with single friends for ages, and now they are both smitten kittens! 💜 aside from that,it was great to catch up on each others’ news,we sat chatting on a wall for ages!
That’s about me for today, hope you have a happy healthy hippy hoppy week ahead!
Good luck with fast SUNNY! 16:8 for me tomoz XXX -
Hi Positive Peeps!
*~ I’m having a “ Feet up on the Couch with the Cat” day today….I’m fasting, cat has Whiskas on his menu..( other brands available)
*~ Cat is lying on my feet snoring, and I’m flipping through some American magazines ( DDs aunt sends them, she buys them cheaply in a market somewhere down south) Interesting article,“ Activate your slo- mo setting and recalibrate”….Two simple exercises to do whenever you’re getting antsy..
🎀 Take a slowwww deep breath in,saying ‘ Let ‘ on the in breath and ‘Go ’ on the slowwww out breath.Repeat a few times.
🎀 Stand up straight but relaxed, and slowly bring your arms out to the sides, like branches on a tree,so you’re a T shape..wiggle your fingers like leaves in a breeze. Deeply inhale while raising your arms into a Y shape, sway gently from side to side, then exhale as you bring your arms down.
This will slow you down, help you reset!
🎀 One more..if you’re stressed and you notice your jaw clenching..open your mouth wide and let your lax tongue hang out for 30 seconds ( maybe find a private corner to do that one or you might get some funny looks! ) 😄🙄😬😄xx -
I’m liking those ‘slow down’ techniques, Yowser. Will be making a note of them.
I wonder if anyone has any similar techniques they can share? In this hectic world, it’s useful to have this kind of exercise in your arsenal, so if you have something you use to slow down, calm down and give yourself some space, please do share.Today has been busy-ish, though not hectic so I’ve a few positives to share ….
🙂🥄 a quick browse around a couple of charity shops, provided me with a slotted spoon, a spirit measure, a zester and a pewter quaich. A nice little haul all for a total of £5!
📦 parcel for youngest GD’s birthday and advent calendar posted off.
👗🧥 🛒 Dry Cleaning collected and a small supermarket shop done
🧳 started packing this afternoon, felt good to tick some items off the list🙂Wonder what your positives were today?
-
Hi there SUNNY! I do love a bargain, well done on yr finds, but I’ve got to ask, what is a pewter quaich? Xx
-
Hello!
Thanks Yowser. If I wake in the night I always do the deep breaths in, deep breaths out method. Sometimes it works which is great but sometimes I have to use pillow spray.
Anyway just wanted to let you know I’m still around even though I’m not posting often, sorry.
Photo of grandsons in uniform going back to school today made me very happy.
Granddaughter first day at school tomorrow ….. just waiting for a photo of her new in her uniform.
Busy week socially.
Will check in soon.
Take care.
Have a good week. -
A quaich is a sort if Scottish drinking vessel, in the form of a shallow footed bowl with two small flat handles. They are used for sharing a dram of whisky as a sign of friendship.
Have often considered buying one (as a whisky enthusiast and someone born in Scotland), but have never quite got around to making the purchase. The one I bought today would have been between £10 – £12 new, but I bagged it for £1.50. It was a bit tired and tarnished, but I’ve given it a bit of a buff up and it looks pretty good now.🙂 -
Thanks SUNNY,that was a good haul you got for a fiver!
I learnt something new today…. I have a little notebook and I jot down new things I learn..
Every days a school day! XX -
Hiya folks! VERANO hope GDs first day at school went well.
Very happy,as we have had…
*~ Two amazing storms! An enormous one last night, with flashes of lighting that turned night back into day, then a smaller one this afternoon. I love a good storm!
*~ DD and hubby down in Oxford for her award..they lost the car key! After searching unsuccessfully they were getting concerned…- then it turned up!phew!
*~ Not much else to report..except that slow breathing exercise..instead of Let …Go,you can say Right …Now,helps you live in the moment! -
Like the idea of a note book to record new things learnt, Yowser.
V, enjoy your social week, I’m sure you’ll make the most of it🙂.Having slept really badly (or rather didn’t sleep) last night, I’m planning a very early night, so thought I’d post a few positives and then retire for the night …..
🌹my roses have really appreciated the rain and are blooming nicely.
🍽 finished my fast at 42hrs, was a bit tough being awake in the early hours, as there were quite keen hunger pangs. Managed to ride it out, without a visit to the kitchen though.
👗last dress hand washed ready for packing. Getting things sorted for the trip is slowly coming together.
Anyway, my day is almost done …. sleep well everyone 😴 -
Well done SUNNY!
Sweet dreams for you tonight I hope xx -
Hello.
Good to read all your positives. I have just one today but it’s huge!
Since around June last year I’ve being using a mobile hairdresser. Loved the way he cut my hair but was never 100% certain about the colour. Also it wasn’t like a salon experience and my hair appointments were about my only personal extravagance. Anyway, went back to my old salon today for the first time …. in two years….
So my positive loved the luxury of a salon experience again, love the colour and the cut but an added bonus is the condition of my hair. Last year after the last ‘LD’ my hair, which is straight, was in really poor condition, fluffy, thinning and generally out of sorts. I started using a specialist hair range and it looks like it’s paid off. My hairdresser was really impressed with the condition of my hair and told me to carry on using the products. So double whammy!
Hope you are all feeling positive today. -
Thanks Yowser, I skept so much better last night.
V, sounds like you had a lovely hairdressing experience and wonderful the hair products are proving beneficial.Positives from my day today ….
📖 finished putting together a photo album for friend’s 50th birthday and got it ordered. Also created and ordered personalised anniversary card for OH.
🙂 started a new fast this evening, to take me through to Friday.Northing else particular springs to mind, so I’ll leave it at two for today. Why not post your positives, so we can share them too?
-
Hi folks,VERANO,pleased you’re happy with your hair!
I was just thinking, coming home just now in heavy rain..
*~ What a welcome sight your slippers are when you get indoors..
*~ And another happy sight..a boiling kettle and a cuppa!
Things to be very grateful for and not take for granted!
*~ Also came home to special news bulletin on tv re the Queens ill health. ..I have no time for the RF – except for the Queen. I have some respect for her, she’s been a trouper…..so I’m sending out a positive prayer she survives for more years..🙏 After all,her mother lived to be over one hundred years of age.xx -
The weekend is here, chums! X Sad news about our Queen..RIP..but she’s had a great innings. Thoughts with her children, grandchildren and great grand children.💜💚
My pozz’s today …small ones, but made it into a very nice day!
*~ Returned a whole lot of clothes to NEXT for DD..was very satisfying to get them out of the house and back to the store ( almost £600 worth! ) Guy who served us was lovely too.
* ~ We saw an old friend we haven’t seen for such a long time. Was lovely to catch up with him. While we were talking we saw a Nigerian wedding party! Everyone was dressed up,very smart, and some very bright colours and amazing hats!
Really enjoyed watching them all going in to the reception. Wanted to tag on to the end and gatecrash! 😁
*~ Short catch up with DD in the garden, quite exciting as guy there to give them estimates for a conservatory! 🥳
Hope everyone’s enjoying their Sat/ Sun xx -
Sorry I’ve been AWOL for a few days. Somehow time has got away from me.🤭 Yowser, thank you for keeping those positives coming in. That Nigerian wedding party sounds very tempting! Glad you’ve had a good time with DD, this weekend.
Right, let’s see what positives there might be for me to post ….
🧥👗🛩 packing for our upcoming trip now complete, except for last minute bits and bobs.
🎸 went to see eldest son and step GS play in their band yesterday, a good afternoon listening to music out in the sunshine.
🙂 somehow twinged my back yesterday and was in quite some pain. Have been on a regime of regular painkillers today, along with herbal patched and am much more comfortable now. Should be 100% again by next weekend when we go away.🤞🏻That will do for now. Hope you have all had a pleasant weekend and will post a positive or two for us to share.
-
Ooh SUNNY back twinges ..ouch! Hope you’re ok by next weekend 🙏 there’s still plenty of time yet!
My positives…
*~ Lovin the autumnal feel in the air! Lots of fallen leaves already. I’m ready for a new season!
*~ Made a start on a good declutter and clean,I am just in the mood for rolling my sleeves up and getting stuck in.
*~ DD in Manchester today and tonight, going to have lunch with friend, then this evening to see friend sing in play.
Staying over in hotel. I’m so glad she’s away from the house and hasnt taken her laptop, so she has a break from housework and admin, and can relax. Said hotel is lovely and also cheap to stay Sun nights,so we might have a nice mum and daughter jaunt soon! Small change of scenery will be nice!
🌸🌸🌸 Hope everyone has a groovy week ahead! XXX 🌸🌸🌸 -
Hi!
Just popping in to say “I’m still here”!
Sorry not to be contributing much at the moment but we’ve just had a very busy week… friends in for a drink Wednesday, out for Thai meal with friends Thursday, friends here for dinner Saturday, daughter and grandsons here for breakfast yesterday, out for dinner at friends last night …. I’m exhausted just writing it all down!
Anyway, today was a quiet day … phew… tomorrow life gets back to normal again.
So lots of positives despite the general sadness of the nation.
Hope this week brings lots of positives.
P.S. Sunny …. packed already! That’s what you call organisation! -
Oh Yowser, I know you love a declutter … enjoy!
V, sounds like you have had a wonderfully social time.
I know it’s a bit early to be packed ready, but I have to get packing sorted in good time, otherwise the stress has me awake at stupid o’clock in the mornings! My positives today are ….
👍🏻 back twinge is pretty much resolved. Still being careful and still taking a few painkillers, but have dialled them back.
🗓📅 created three personalised calendars and two sets of personalised coasters as 🎄 gifts this morning. Thinking ahead, as after Sunday I won’t be here until early December.
🤐 fasting again today and given the weekend got a little bit carby, it’s been easier than I thought it would be.
Looking forward to meeting DD and GS for lunch tomorrow.
Did something positive happen to you today? Do tell! -
Grrr..lost my post somehow!
SUNNY I’m like you,I need to be packed well in advance or I get stressed!
V sounds like you’ve been having a ball lately..let the good times roll!
My things for today..
*~ DD getting promotion in work..I’m a proud Ma!
*~ Helped sister pack up and sort stuff for home sweet home..over the next few days!
*~ Back in touch with an old school friend..we somehow lost touch in the early 2000s or late nineties..I managed to find her again thru her local branch of U3A..so nice to get a lost pal back!
“ A good time to laugh is..anytime you can “ 🥰 xxx -
Hi folks, quite an exciting, hopeful day for me today!
*~ Taking part in research into M.E. A study beginning today. I was always well until my late forties when I had a viral infection and just couldn’t get well afterwards. Eventually after many months, diagnosed with M.E.
ME stands for Myalgic (muscle pain) and Encephalomyelitis (inflammation of the brain and spinal cord.)
Downside was I was very ill for a long time, which led to losing my career and my home.
Upside, the positive in this,is 25 years on,I’m ok ..(ish) just don’t have much stamina, limited energy, and wobbly and clumsy most of the time,BUT no longer have severe symptoms, and can live fairly normally.
Fingers crossed for this promising new research which will be examining DNA of people with this horrible condition.
There seems to be a genetic link, and this is what they are interested in.
DD has it too ( after getting glandular fever at Uni) Very sad to see it in younger people, but this is a positive thread,so……🥳🥳🥳 and 👏👏👏👏 for the study, and those taking part. I’m sure it will come to some enlightening conclusions!
That’s enough from me for today except, this is what I learnt…
Some days are better, some days are worse,
Look for the blessing instead of the curse.
Be positive,stay strong,get enough rest,
You can’t do it all,But you can do your best. 🌷xx -
Yowser, our Queen of quotes…. that’s another cracker! So pleased your sister is finally about to head home again and the ME research sounds really intriguing, will be interesting to see what comes out of it.
I can offer up some positives today, so here goes ….
🍽🙂 lovely lunch with DD and GS … a last catch up before my trip away.
👍🏻 finished my fast at 41hrs which is a good stretch.
📱 thankfully parents phone line has been repaired and so had a long chat with Mum this afternoon.
💵💸 drew out money for the holiday … feels like we’re really going now.
🖨 printed out paperwork for the holiday too, so it’s definitely happening!!That’s more than enough for me today, hopefully tomorrow will bring positives too.
-
Yes it’s really coming close now SUNNY! How exciting! 🥳 x
Well here we are,Wednesday again, and I have some happy things to share.
*~ This happens a lot to me..we live in a big city that in some ways is like a little village….on impulse I popped into a cafe for a coffee, heard a voice call my name, and there was an old work colleague of mine having a cuppa. We had a lovely catch up on all the news and I met her gorgeous little dog,she looks like a little black fox! She’s a schipperke? Not sure of sp.
* ~ Two books I ordered waiting for me in the library, both brand new, total grand cost of 60 pence to borrow them! And the staff there are so lovely!
* ~ And finally, but most importantly…drum roll!!!!!!..sister now back in her home sweet home, with a care package to keep her safe and look after her needs! XX
A PS for VERANO…V we went to lovely newish little place called Epicerie Fine on Smithdown..French cafe and deli. Not a huge menu but what there is looks v good ( we just had a drink but will be back. Beau bought some wine ) My schoolgirl French deserted me even though I studied it to A level..but then words like “prawns “ and “ mushrooms “weren’t in our vocabulary books back then I don’t think!
It’s not far from Dafna’s Cheesecakes, but on the opposite side of Smithdown, going towards town…very close to Ullet Rd junction. Can’t think what it used to be before ….x -
So glad your sister is now back in her own home, Yowser, she must be so happy!
Thought I’d get in early with some positives…..
🎉🎊🥂 fantastic news today …. a very good friend landed his ideal job today and starts Monday!!!! He has had a rough three years, starting with having to fold his business and more recently the death of his mother. This is just the break he needs!
👍🏻🧳 holiday prep all but completed
🍽 final fast this side of our trip started last evening, going well so far🙂
Hope your day us going swimmingly👍🏻🙂 -

Enjoy this day as much as you can….it will slip away fast the way each day does!XX

-
Woohooo she’s off! Away she goes! Happy trails SUNNY!!!! 🥰
Just one positive,from yesterday…
*~ Lovely evening with DD catching up on news and having a laugh. One small glass of red and two cups of tea!
And one today..
*~ Loving the crisp bright autumnal day, having a walk and crunching through the fallen 🍁 🍁 🍁 ..seeing the hunky guys who play rugby every Sunday and talking to one of my neighbours (who fosters homeless cats til they get a new home) on her doorstep cuddling her latest charge, a little black and white ball of fur pusscat 🙂🙃 xx -
Yowzer you dont happen to live near my daughter do you. She fosters cats and kittens and currently has a black and white one who all the kids have fallen in love with. Cant keep them all.
-
HI SUNSHINE-GIRL! I live in Liverpool ..oh I hope so! it wd be fab if I live near yr daughter!
This nice lady even took in a cat that a family left behind when they moved. How can people be so cruel 😢xx -
Not the same person. My daughter lives in Solihull near Birmingham. Sometimes she has a whole litter of kittens (5 or 6) around 8 weeks old as someone else does the hand feeding when they are too young. Sometimes older cats or a cat and her litter. She just loves cats. She has 4 of her own and hubby wont let her have any more so she fosters and has a constant supply of babies. I have 3 cats and they are all rescue cats.
-
Oh I love people so much who take care of animals. Thank you to you SG and your daughter for your kindness and your good work. I wish yr DD was my neighbour! XX Are you in England too? I always imagined you were in USA ( thinking of sunshine I guess)
-
No Yowzer, I live in France and, yes, it is sunny, 28 degrees today so I am going to go have a swim right now. 🙂 Two of our cats are brother and sister and were born in someones house. Their pregnant mother took up residence in one of the spare bedrooms and she didnt have the heart to throw her out (as someone else must have done). Cat number 3 was by accident. We heard her meowing in the maize field when we were out for a walk. I found her and put her on the path hoping she would find her way home but she followed us all the way into the village and all the way back and sat on our doorstep crying. Who could say no to that. So we called her Maisie (found in a maize field).
-
Thats wonderful, living in France! I had no idea..nice to learn more about forum buddies
Enjoy yr swim! XX -
Howdy folks! SUNSHINE GIRL! Somehow yesteday i missed out reading your stories about the cats…. thank you so much for helping our four footed friends ❤️ XX
Was out and about roaming this avvo, picked up an interesting leaflet…says Give yourself a daily dose of happiness
Well who doesnt want a dose of that!
They suggest…
Give yrself a dose of *~ Dopamine~* by creating something, such as writing, music, arts and crafts.Eat foods rich in L-Tyrosine such as avocado, fish, eggs, cheese, bananas
Give yrself a dose of *~ Oxytocin~* by talking, hugging or even just shaking hands. Connecting with others reduces cortisol ( stress hormone) and stimulates the vagus nerve ( your secret weapon in fighting stress!)
Give yrself a dose of *~ Serotonin ~ * ..10 – 15 mins sunlight a day can increase serotonin levels and Vit D. Relaxation and meditation can also increase serotonin
In crease your *~ Endorphins ~* by exercising, stretching, laughing. Eat dark chocolate and spicy foods.
🌷🍁🌷🍁🌷 Sounds like a recipe for happiness,so why not try a few ideas,see what happens! 🌷🍁🌷🍁🌷xx -
Hiii me again!🙂🙃
*~ Just had a nice autumn evening stroll in the last of the day’s sunshine, now to have evening meal of halloumi and green veg..simple things in life are the best!
Thats all i have to say for today, except if you are low carbing..keep on keeping off! As a wise friend on another thread says! XX -
Just popping in to say,

Just a quick drop by, mainly to say thank you V for the recommendation to dine at Jim Thompson’s at Dempsey Hill. We had a lovely meal there this evening and OH was especially happy with the pineapple fried rice with prawns … reminded him of a dish he had several times when we visited Phuhet a few years back. The taxi driver who took us to the restaurant, was interested to know how we knew about it, as he said not many tourists know it’s there.
Should post positives while I’m here, so ….
🍽🥣 met a friend for an informal dinner last evening, great food and good to catch up on news in person.
🙂👍🏻 friend in France has completed his first week in his new job and it’s gone really well. So pleased for him, as his had a rough ride the last 18mths or so.
🚉🎫 did battle with the Singaporean metro ticketing system today and after several tries, eventually won! After which, got out there for a little retail therapy … two pairs of shoes so far🤭Hope you are clocking up some positives, wherever you are and whatever you’re doing this weekend.
-
Hi SUNNY,mmmm you made me hungry..pibeapple fried rice…heaven!
A couple of positives from me today..
*~ Visited sister today, great to see her surrounded by her books, photos etc after all the weeks in a rather soulless room in rehab
~ Fasting,21 hours in,think can keep this going til tomorrow ( if i dont think about pineapple fried rice! 😄 )
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 -
Happy Monday and happy week to all!

V happy to have it though!

Yowzer just had to ‘pop in’!
You’re doing a great job at keeping this thread going all by yourself …. is there a song somewhere there !!!
Anyway, just wanted to pop in with just one positive ….
Autumn is here so made my first pan of soup today for the freezer.
Sunny so glad you enjoyed Jim Thomsons …. always a risk when you recommend somewhere. Anyway, keep enjoying.
Yowser you’re a star for keeping this thread going!!
I’ll try and post a little more.
Keep well and enjoy
