    So gang,
    Where are we?
Are we all doing the bsd 800?
Or are you just thinking about ?
    Reading about it?
Finding it too hard to start?
    Well how about little reductions?

I used to eat the big family bars of chocolate, I changed the size to a kiddies one, like a cadburys Freddie chocolate bar.
I used to eat two take aways , and large chips, curry sauce and half a loaf with butter on.
So I changed the size to one take away or one curry and small chips., and just one round of bread and butter.
I used to eat a full family bag of crisps, or the ones with 8 bags in, I ate the lot in one sitting, so I changed it to one bag of crisps.

I still had the taste of the junk food but single portions.

When I started the bs diet, I changed what I ate to “normal food”. For a week, then I changed into the Bs diet.

You just got to do something even if it’s to reduce the size of the junk food.

Then change one meal a day,

    Then two,

    Then count your calories

    Then your carbs

    Little by little.

Thinking of having a go now?

Come on in, the waters fine

Just jumping in, Lucia, I think the best thing you’ve written here was about your exercise going up and down the stairs with a chair at the top and a chair at the bottom, for those people who are too embarrassed to go outside, at the start.

I think that is the most inspirational thing you’ve written and I’m always quoting it to people.

Thank you for all your thoughts, they’re so helpful as well as being very very funny. πŸ™‚

There are so many…love your enthusiasm…how you can break down those seemingly impossible exercises into smaller steps that are doable, practical and affordable!!

I also loved the image of you arranging chairs at the top and bottom of the stairs and setting out to do what you could right then (and building on that)

Brilliant – no excuses – just funfilled activity πŸ™Œ reminds me to not take myself sooo seriously!!!

You bring the same positive common sense approach to the diet, I am sure that many new BSD ers have benefited from your posts.

I am so thankful to you (and all the other super supportive BSD band who have helped keep me sane over the last 18 weeks 😡)

    So, it is true.
I look at the wall so high, then roll my sleeves up and move one brick at a time.
    Inch by inch,
    Calorie by calorie.

The walking at the beginning , using everyone’s garden wall, or the seats in the bus stops, helped me.
I just waddled off and when I got to something to sit down, I just plonked my bum down.
Caught my breath, went to a more dignified shade of red, rather than purple, mopped my brow, and got waddling again.

Sometimes it’s lonely, what’s the point, my .. Knee, foot, arm, ear, eyebrow hurts so bad.

But after you do the exercise and recover, there is this wonderful, cozy, smugness I feel, that, I, one big budgie, has actually exercised and survived it.

    Hi Lucia,

Very inspirational! I agree it’s rough to start. It’s a drastic change to my norm. However I realize if I want to lose a drastic amount of weight in a short period then I have to do the BSD.

I’m exercising each day and getting at least 10K-11K steps each day. I feel good, and don’t really feel a lot, although I do at times…lol

    Hi med instructor,
I am SO jealous of you.
You and your partner are doing this together.
Mine won’t do it. Won’t encourage, Wont support etc.
So that’s why I ramble to myself here in the blog, to support myself.

I wish I could have a fitness buddy.
I wish I could have a bs buddy.
To slap me around and keep me on the path.

What are your plans?. Are you throwing yourself feet first into 800 cals and low carbs or are you doing a ‘gradual’ week?

Just remember you have lots of buddies, even if we cannot walk with you. Just keep going up and down those stairs.

On your question I have been marking time this week ( supposedly week 9) and looking at Igorasusal’s post I realise I am eating way too much fruit. This week way too much of everything, so I think I will start again on Monday.

Ruthdownunder- re fruit, I realise all my life I have thought that “fruit doesn’t count” and it’s ok to have apples, oranges more or less without limit.

At the end of our family walking holiday I “ate up” the rest of the apples/clementines. Then I looked at MFP – aaaaaaaargh. The sugar! The carbs! The calories!

Good for you- yes. Carb and sugar laden – yes. Calories/carbs better spent on other things – quite probably. Moderation in future and more considered eating – oh, yes. πŸ˜‰

Hiya – Go girl!! Sounds like a good start well done. I’m aiming for 800 cals since last Tues – had BBC for grandsons birthday so little blip at the weekend but still didn’t only went up to 1,350 cals (which is pretty amazing for me at a bbqπŸ˜€) I’ve concentrated on cals initially but now trying make sure I’m looking at what sugars too. I found the book really useful and think this blogging should be a great help too. 1st weigh in tom so will let you know how it goes.

Hi Lucia – I’meant doing this on my own too – your bloggs are brilliant. The walking one especially – My knees and back are really painful and make walking any distance really difficult (not helped by all my weight 😢) I get a little panicky if going somewhere if got park too far away as don’t want to go in to place with sweat dripping down my face, bright red and out of breath. It’s horrible and embarrassing – people looking as if worried I’m going keel over. I haven’t got a clue how many is my average steps so bought a fit bit (just setting up now). Determined get over the embarrassment And get some walking and swimming to help with weight loss. Thanks for inspiration xx

    Oh,
    Also, putting tights on.

You know when you actually get one leg on, up to your knee
and you can’t quite get the other leg into the waist band and down the other leg without rolling about on the bed?

I now roll both legs of the tights up,
Bend over, put both lots of toes in,
    Hitch the heels on,
Then pull the tights to the knees.

I still have to wriggle to get the thighs and derrière into the tights.

When I had more blubber, the tights seem to roll down over my big belly, so the waist band was like a hipster.

This caused the legs to slide down,
So when the undercarriage part ( I don’t like the word gusset) got down to my knees,
I had to take shorter steps.

It was bliss going for a tinkle and hitching them all the way back up,
It was like having a facelift

I saw it there, just behind the wardrobe.
It was cowering, hunched up, looking lost.
It looked at me with those big eyes, asking, no, pleading with me to take it back,
Remember how we loved each other, the fun we went through,
It started to inch towards me, slowly, one tiny step at a time.

    I reached , just past the tissues,…..
And grabbed the yard brush and gave it
