Going to have a duvet day today.
My cold isn’t too bad, keeping up with lots of hot drinks, etc etc.
I will do yoga. And mountain climbing at home today.
Well you try going up and down a set of stairs 20 times, I get creAm crackered, that it feels like a mountain.
I may wear a bright cerise hat and scarf whilst mountaineering, throwing ropes from the landing or bedroom doors, into the hall.
My hubby thinks I lost the plot years ago.

Christine, it seems you are embracing your inner purplefulness.

So with all this said colourfulness, have you stepped out, knotted yourself in yoga or climbed to the highest piece of fitted carpet?

    Hi gang.
I went into the Edinburgh wool mill shop as they had a poster of a white dress scattered with large red poppies and sky blue poppies.
    It was yummy.
The problem is, I have lost more weight from my belly button up, then my belly button down.
So the top swomped me and the hips were a little too snug.
    But I am getting there.

    Hi,
On the bus a woman was saying she was embarrassed to go to the gym to get fit. She said they had all the equipment so that’s the only place she could exercise.

    I suggested what I do.

I get the stool out of the bathroom and put it on the landing near the top if the stairs.
I get a chair out of the dining room, or deckchairs or anything.

I walk up the stairs, not holding the hand rail.
If I need to, I sit on the stool.
When I am ready, I come down trying not to use the rail.
Then if I need to, I sit on the chair.

I do this for 30 minutes. At first I could only do eight.
But over time, I increased it to where I could get rid of the seats.

I didn’t use the hand rail so it engaged the core, I was getting my blood moving, cardio exercise.
I was moving at lot of muscles including my maximus bumus, and my thunder thighs.

All for free, but I made sure, I did it at my pace and sipped water as I went. You don’t get wet. You can’t say, I don’t feel like getting into the car to go to the gym. I don’t feel like getting my gym clothes on. You are good to go even if you are wearing your nighty, or jeans, or dress, or trousers, or bare foot. Just be careful of slippers not giving you a secure foot hold.

She has asked me to check on her in a weeks time.

    Shall do.

Mindful eating makes it more yummy and filling at the same time. Great advice on the stair workouts. There is a fitness guy online who has made a whole workout series of going up and down the stairs, then again he lives in a tower block in New York so up and down once or twice and he’s done miles 😀

I’m still stuck at 13 stone… first thing it’s a couple of pounds under but then it stubbornly leaps back to 13….. still it’s lucky for me ‘cos that’s less than it was before

    Hi polly,

Glad you are positive, just don’t let it get you down.
I am the same, previously, I would give up and put on about another hundred stone or more because I gave up.
I couldn’t reason with myself, that it is only one pound on, you can burn that in a few days, so by the weekend it would be gone and more, and I would be nearer my size 12.
Now I just say … My size 12 is just postponed from a Monday to a Saturday, but it will be mine, all mine, I tell you……
Sorry, haven’t got over me saying this morning… Engaging the core.

Eureka – diet is good and bad. Bad in that I have eaten stuff I shouldn’t have today. And good in that I have batch cooked a week to 10 days worth of BSD meals in freezer and fridge since I know that coming home from work is when I am at my lowest ebb – today’s misdemeanour was my daughter’s sweets rather than the meals! The cardinal sin on this diet😕. Although not diabetic this won’t help my weight loss this week.

I’m glad there is someone else who is up against it! I have no children doing exams, just adult daughters living or coming with their three girls every Tuesday for tea. This last couple of weeks I have been getting things ready for a spring market at our church, making stuff, organising the hall, setting up and rotas for help, dashing about, working on projects late at night and just dipping into bsd forum when I can,
My grandson Fergus has his first exam on Thursday and our daughter is like you a bit stressed, especially as her eldest has his exams starting next week too. So I wish you well with you and her exams, and like Lucia said give her a big hug from us, and ‘speak’ soon

Good to have food pre made. Can you factor in a couple of walnuts or Brazil’s etc to eat instead of the sweets if you get a severe attack of the munchies before dinner is ready? Best not to eat between meals as you know, but eat good stuff if you must 😀. Plus, fat content in nuts more filling.
Make sure everyone sleeps well while exams are on & has breakfast, & is hydrated. You think better!

    Morning L, Judith
I quite often have a vegetable stir fry flavoured with spices and soy – delicious.
Judith, have you tried roasting your gram flour before making flatbreads? It’s supposed to change the flavour.
I have this idea of roasting it with a few herbs for flavour and then whizzing the whole lot in the processor.
I’ll let you know how it goes.

Morning Bill, hope your fasting bs is ok now?
Roasting the flour first – now that is an interesting thought!
I made a batch the usual way last night and had a couple spread with cream cheese and lettuce as wraps then froze the rest.
Lucia if you haven’t tried them yet you should. I reckon you get about 40 from a £1.69 bag of flour. Plenty of protein and fibre and lovely with a veg curry. 🙂

Lucia – my go to lunch for taking to work is a salad with a quarter block of the feta style cheese every supermarket seems to do a budget own brand of. I have found the budget ones no less good than the normal supermarket own brands. The block easily cuts into 4, and it works out at 20p per lunch for the protein bit, and then I add whatever I have to hand – my favourite is chopped lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber, grated carrot, a few black olives chopped up, and then a dressing of 10ml olive oil, some lemon juice and seasoning. I have the dressing in a little pot so that the salad doesn’t go soggy. So as Judith says, cheaper than meat and just as nice.

And the best bit is that it still leaves me with a few calories left for a snack…

Congrats on the loss of the pounds!

Am back in work today, my mum is kindly doing ‘keep the granddaughter on an even keel’ duty today.

Hi Judith 6.4 today and 4.2 pre food last night.
Still don’t know where that spike came from, maybe I was invaded by sugar loving alien presences 😀
Yeah, according to the sites I looked at, roasting the flour first produces a more nutty than beany flavour and I thought that varying the herbs and spices would make the flatbreads more versatile to use with more meals.

    Hi guys!!
I’ve been reading this great thread with interest for a week or so now and thought I would finally be brave and post! I have a lot of weight to lose (not quite sure how much as I haven’t DARED to step on the scales yet but I know it’s bad just by looking at my enormous tum in the mirror!!). My mum had type 1 diabetes and so I witnessed a whole load of terrible things as a child (loss of toes, ulcers, hypos etc) – she died when she was 50 after a particularly debilitating stroke. I was 19 and I’m going to be 45 this year and have been telling myself for YEARS that I need to get my bahookie in gear or I shall end up the same! I am not diabetic (as far as I know) but want to avoid developing it – so far I haven’t really been helping myself!

Last week I did the original 5:2 diet (which I have done successfully in the past) but also bought Mr Mosley’s Blood Sugar Diet book and have started thinking Mediterranean this week and aim to do 3 x 800 days. Yesterday was my first and it was perfectly fine. I did feel a bit hungry but it actually felt good (I’m weird!!). Today – so far so good. And will do Friday too. The schools are being used tomorrow for the Scottish Parliamentary elections, so I shall be out and about with the boys all day and so I decided tomorrow would be ‘normal’ but trying to avoid the ‘baddies’ food-wise!

Lucia – I was just wondering – how long have you been on the ‘diet’ so far and how much have you lost? I’ve been intrigued. Sounds like you have heaps of willpower and humour!! Been loving reading your posts!

    Cheers guys.

Hi IonaJ, definitely the right decision. I would say just go with the fast 800, low carb it is easier than 5:2 as you have 800 calories a day instead of 500. You will be stunned at how quickly you will lose weight.

I would also say brave those scales and take a photo of yourself in your undies ( I know) but after 2 or 3 weeks you won’t believe the difference! Also write down your measurements as they often tell a bigger story than the scales in terms of loss!!

    And GO GIRL, GO!!!! 🙂

    Hi Christi

Sorry to hear about the arthritis. My hands suffer with it too😒 That’s why I change crafts around.

Don’t know the type of area you’re in. Different things go better in some areas than others.

Last year I dried some lavender and made lavender bags and sachets. Keep thinking about some fabric boxes I made early last year – they fit a chocolate orange but can be made different sizes.

Or pin cushions, draught excluders, cushions, aprons, bags, purses, pencil cases

I’ve been doing patchwork until recently, both machine and hand-stitched. There’s a simple pattern for a small patchwork dog that seems to go down well.

Currently making cards, like lots of people. Not necessarily good for fairs, but my craft group sells them to raise money the church. Also make cards for special requests.

    Hope it goes well.

This weekend, this Saturday, I will have done my eight weeks.

    WOW 👀👀👀👀👀👀
    Where did the time go?
Nearly 1. 1/2 stone down, what a journey.
    I am in shock”………….

I feel emotional. I got here. I never gave up.

Something I say all the time

This is a personal message just to me, from me, I…… LOVE LUCIA XXXXXX

Yes, I actually like me now.

God bless each and everyone of you who contacted me and carried me on my path, when I learned that there is REAL life to live and not live it through the telly.

I hope you all walk along our path towards me, and am at the end of this path. I can go left and put it all back on, go right and keep losing, keep going and achieve my size 12.
I haven’t got there yet, but I have got here. I AM HERE. Look at me, I have not given up, I have achieved it, finished it. Wow.

Party at my house Saturday, you are all welcome. Lets dance, lets laugh, lets socialise, lets drink, lets eat…. I that order.

    Wow.

With love from a very humble, average, lumpy person, who has got less lumps today.

    Hi,
I am still suprised that I didn’t give up after two weeks which is my normal pattern.
It is a crazy way of doing things, but when you think about it…….
If you don’t put it in your mouth , it won’t go on your hips. Duh!!
    I get the picture now.

I think on Saturday I will put one blog in the section called … After eight weeks. Just to show my face.

I think as I still have a long way to go, I will continue for a little while longer, then change to the 5:2 diet.
If anyone meets up with doctor Michael Mosley, please give him a hug from me. He will never realise what gifts he has given me just by writing this book, making this website at the right time for me.

If you are reading this message and not sure you have the will power to do this diet, please read all my blogs as I have had ups and downs. No one has told me I was a failure putting weight back on, they held my hand, gave me encouragement, and got me going again.
The nicest thing is ,… You all have laughed with me but never at me.

Oh and the best advice for newbies, beware of the dollop of yoghurt… You will have to read my early blogs to understand the daftness behind that episode.

Not warren Beatty, but warren buffet.
I love this 85 year old oracle of Omaha.
He started as a kid saving, and is worth billions. He is one if the owners and runs Berkshire Hathaway company.
He still lives in the house he bought more than 30 years ago.

Last weekend was their annual AGM. This was televised, live streamed for 7 1/2 hours, I watched it all doing exercise, with my cold.

He is my hero. His company made little yellow plastic ducks it’s his face and Charlie mungers (his partner) face on.
They are in front of my telly.

Along with yellow minions, who love bananas and work great as a team… But that is another life lesson.

So there you have it, I would live to gave him as a guest for lunch, a nice crispy salad and to talk to him. He would probably eat dairy maid ice cream, with coke a cola etc as these are the companies he owns.

See, it was nice after all!!!

Your own willpower has been the major factor so credit yourself with that. Yes the BSD’ers have jumped in from time to time to offer advice when needed but it’s you who took it all on board to create your very own success story. YOU did it, nobody but you.
You have inspired loads of people that you have never even spoke to. Remember, on average only 10% of people who read forums ever bother to post so you will have quite a large audience.

    Hi collie,
Your first week, wow, you have done the hardest thing… The first step. It takes a HUGE load of will power to take it, now it is easy, so easy.
You have a big family around you to walk with you on your journey.

I love the ideal you are a serial stalker. Don’t tell the others otherwise they will advise cereal isn’t do good for you, too many carbs have full fat Greek yoghurt and berries instead.

You must tell me what you have eaten in your first week.
I like eggs bacon mushrooms and tomatoes. This can be a main meal.
The another meal can be salad and chicken or a bit of cooked meat, or feta. Or if you prefer warm, veggies and a chop or something.
It doesn’t have to be hard.
I made it hard for myself, being too strict, got my knickers in a right twist. I had a time out for 24 hours were I measured just by eye.

I hope you will be around when I can zip up a size 12. I am saving to give a diabetic charity a gift.

The most important piece of advice I can give is to enjoy your life.
