So today is day 1, weighed this morning at 167 lbs.
I made the pear & vanilla shake from the new fast 800 diet, its so delicious, creamy and very filling…. its so good 5 hours later and I’m still not hungry.
Hope everyone’s having a great weekend.

Hi the updates are amazing , I can’t keep up with all if them but thank you for your inspiration. I’m on day 5 so weighed in at 255lb ugh and after 5 days I’m at 248lb – I would love to be 196 lb by the time I go on my lifetime holiday to Disney Florida. I’ve made the waffles today from the book and I’ve been keeping it simple with mackerel or egg for breakfast with spinach lettuce or tomatoes, lunch salad with either chicken , feta or advaca- tea has been roasted broccoli which is amazing 🙂 it’s a new one for me with chicken and if I’m hungry I’ve snacked in blueberry or a few almonds, and a treat of 90 percent Lindt chocolate and a teaspoon of peanut butter – day 4 seemed easier. I’ve struggled to stick to 800 calories my first day was 1500 ugh but I was practicing and someone said dont beat yourself up and I thought at least it’s good food so I carried on day 2-3 I was at 1100 calories and yesterday and today 1000 calories so I’ll kerp going and trying to reduce them but it seems to be working so I’m happy, drinking lots of herbal green tea too 🙂 – good luck everyone Joanne

I am really struggling this past few days, like a cold with nausea, I think it is carbs flu or rather I hope it is. Last time I did this it was much easier to get into the swing of and am desperately craving cream crackers at the mo. I settled on beetroot soup for dinner. Grrrrr at the queasy and thank you for everyone’s positive journeys they are helping keep me on the wagon.

Hi everyone. Seems like we are all trying to find our rhythm and seeing what works. It will settle.Hope you are feeling better soon Beattie. Try not to give in to the cravings or for sure you will be beating yourself up tomorrow. Stick at it and cream crackers will become much less appealing.

Sugar is addictive but we can beat the addiction with a determined mindset. Keep focused on the health benefits of kicking the toxic white stuff.
I am down a kilo this Week but think it is just things settling down after Christmas.

Hi Nelliecat, you’re right about needing to get your head in the right place. I’ve also been faffing around for the past few days but I’m back at work tomorrow and I’m definitely ready to get into a proper BSD/16:8 routine again. I forgot about 16:8 over the holidays and it made a huge difference. When I don’t eat breakfast 800 calories is easy, but if I have breakfast then I want to keep snacking all day!
Hope it goes well for you tomorrow

    Hi all
I am back on it tomorrow. I have made a weird decision to not weigh for at least 4 weeks!!
The scales have a massive impact on how I feel and when loosing it is great but when I don’t the impact is not good so!! Might even says very negative.
So ……I have decided to not weigh and just go 100% no excuses with a belt as my only measure. Will let you know how it goes!!
Not convinced I am in the best place to really start this but so easy to keep putting it off!!

    Hi Everyone
I’m very pleased with my week 1 weigh in result – 5lbs off, which takes my weight down to 12 stone 3lbs.
Obviously, I am really chuffed with that!
I feel good, haven’t been hungry (although I’m definitely running on empty in the morning and need my breakfast).
In the coming week, I need to keep up the BSD momentum (and not ‘relax’ because I’ve had a good week) – and try to vary my breakfasts, as boredom is likely to send me off track.
Any breakfast suggestions which can be made speedily before work would be welcome.
    Have a great day everyone!

    Morning all!
Somehow despite messing about this week I have lost 3lbs 😮
Only thing I can think of is that despite having had a hysterectomy 2 years ago I still have my ovaries so still experience some PMT symptoms. Suppose it could have been bloating that has now gone…. Anyway, whatever, it’s good!
JoJo, thanks for the good wishes for today, nervous now!
Hi Kerry, my quick, easy breakfasts are scrambled eggs with mushrooms or yogurt and berries with a few nuts on top. I still miss my cereal for quickness but have actually stuck to BSD breakfasts all over Christmas and the madness that was my snacking!
    Here’s my plan for the day;
    B. 2 rashers turkey bacon, 2 eggs, 40g avocado
    L. Green soup I made and maybe a slice of cold meat
    D. 2 97% meat sausages, cauliflower mash and green veg

    Will be back later, byeeee!!

Hi everyone – some fabulous results starting to roll in, very impressive! 🙂
Joanne – 7 lbs lost! Kerry – 5 lbs lost and Nelliecat – 3 lbs off! Take a bow, ladies! 🙂 A Fantastic start!
Beattie – probably is a touch of carb flu – make sure you’re adding a bit of salt to your diet, it helps with the symptoms if really bad, but you will be through the worst of it shortly and then you’ll feel amazing!
DeniseSusan – weighing once a month isn’t weird at all. Do whatever works best for you. I became a slave to my scales and every now and then, I go 2 weeks without touching them. Sometimes I need to weight twice per week when feeling a bit “wobbly” with resolve!
Kerry – you could make some of those egg muffins at the weekend. They freeze well. Take a couple out the night before to thaw. Can be eaten hot or cold.
Nelliecat – I’ve not mastered the art of mashed cauliflower yet. Do you have a specific technique you could share? Do you use the frozen cauli rice?
Great going, Trippers! I woke up this morning feeling a little low which stayed with me, (had a nightmare which was pure frustration – like when you can’t find your purse and you’re hunting everywhere and people keep distracting you and you start to feel really stressed) and reading everyone’s posts has really perked me up, so thank you all! 🙂

    Such good beginnings! And continuations!
Denisesusan, it is NOT weird to weigh rarely, in fact it is perfectly normal to avoid what Kazz rightly says is “slavery to the scales”. I didn’t weigh for months because the scales just make me crazy, watching the number go up and down. I used a tape measure and it was fun to use and record and even today that is my first way of checking how I am maintaining. I only get on the scales if I go to the doctors.
Jojo2018 — I don’t do breakfast because I don’t really feel hungry in the morning and when I do have breakfast, it seems to make me want to eat all day! But others, like Kerryp, really need breakfast — we are all unique — do what works for you personally.
Good that you are back to routine Nelliecat!
And ha ha Beattie66 — that takes guts to walk the biscuit aisle and live to tell the tale! Honestly, after a few more weeks you will see all those cookies and crackers and just think, this is poison. I hold the food industry responsible for the terrible garbage they try to sell us — refined flours, sugars, bad quality fats. And non stop advertising of all that stuff! Poor humans, trying to stay healthy in a sea of junk food.

    Hey all!
Think I’m gonna jump on the train for the next few weeks.
For those who don’t remember me, I was diagnosed with T2 in May 2017. My HBA1C was 69! I immediately started on BSD and got myself down to an “ideal weight” I started at 167 and got to 135lb. My HBA1C is currently 46, so pre-diabetic but a massive improvement thanks to BSD!
In November 2017 I was diagnosed with an adrenal adenoma which causes Conns syndrome in some people and among other things may have caused my T2 and I’m scheduled for surgery to get it removed in February.
Fast forward to Jan 2018 and a bit of complacency (combined with a few cheeky trips home to Ireland that Alliecat knows all about 🤣) as well as USA in October and the weight has crept up to 155lbs. To make it worse, at my pre-op assessment I was measured as 2 inches shorter than I always thought I was, so I am now technically overweight again 🤣

So, I need to re-engage and jump on the train. I’d like to get to a ideal BMI before my surgery if possible but although docs are very supportive of BSD ( particularly after seeing my results) I’m not allowed to do another cycle until fully recovered from surgery. They are happy for me to follow the principles and stick at 1200 cals per day. So while I cannot join you on the 800 train, I’m gonna take inspiration from all you lovely people….

Some good losses this week so well done to everyone, my weigh day is Friday and I will post my weight on Friday morning.

Denise Susan – I know exactly how you feel about scales. The disappointment when you don’t see a loss or even worse a gain when you’ve given it 100% can spoil the whole day. That’s why I have also stopped weighing daily after almost two years and gone to a weekly weigh in. That way only one day can be ruined! Also, I have to say I feel a little more liberated. Also, when I started BSD I knew I was losing weight because my clothes were loose. There are many of us who are doing the same as you, I don’t know if I could manage a month between weigh ins but hopefully when I achieve my goal I may do exactly what you’re doing and weigh monthly.

Beattie66 – I laughed out loud when I read you post about walking down the biscuit aisle just to show it who was the boss. Bet you felt fantastic.

Keep strong everyone and keep losing lost pesky pounds week by week. Chipping away slowly and steadily to goal.

Reporting in that first full on day has gone well. I’ve felt quite hungry at times during the day but nothing unbearable. Monday is normally one of my 5/ 2 days so doesn’t feel too different at the moment.

Lunch one hard boiled egg – was too busy to eat the other and tonight chicken with courgettes, mushroom in some green curry paste.
Was really pleased I had none of the cakes or sweets or other treats left in the staff room – it’s so easy to just tuck into sth w/o thinking about it. I don’t even particularly like chocolates / or sweets like love hearts and ‘drum sticks’ I’m really pleased too, that I’ve organised lunch and breakfast for tomorrow – slice of Edam, greenery, a few cocktail toms and a half slice of dense german rye bread. Breakfast ( for once) will be Greek yoghurt and 9 or so blueberries. Dinner will be a chicken stir fry.

Feeling virtuous at the moment – but hey ho I need to get down to business as felt very bloated over the weekend.

Well done to those who started on time.

Granny, don’t worry yet I’d be surprised if you do a second week without loss – but as people have said everybody loses differently.

I weigh in tomorrow am, so will update but I’ve done my first full week in quite some time. So hoping for a decent result. Other than weight loss any other benefits noticed yet? Last time after a tough first few days I had a bit of an energy surge, but my cold has stopped any of that. I’ve had a few dizzy spells when I stand up quickly, these were v common first time around, so I’m not concerned

Definitely recommitted as I went to Aqua Aerobics tonight after work 😱 5 mins in and I wanted to stop but really thrilled that I stuck it out. Got that really nice muscle ache that you get when you know you have MOVED!

Admittedly, I’m “allowed” or “ordered “ to have more than those of you on FAST 800 but I did struggle a bit with hunger today. But I did ok, didn’t give in and feel proud of myself. I want to be the best I can be when getting on that operating table!

Granny, when I did my cycle, it was dreadfully slow and. Then week 3 I had that magical whooosh and it started falling off. Hopefully that will happen to you too.

Well done all of you on week one results!

Does any one have problems sleeping when bsd ing/ fasting?
Both with 5/2 and now I find I can get off to sleep but ‘bob’ in and out of consciousness really easily. Upside is I don’t feel as tired as I would if I had to digest the same amount of calories/ garbage, but would still prefer to sleep through. Any thoughts?

Tomorrow’s plan – same breakfast – lunch frittata with stir fried peppers / mushrooms courgette

What a great and supportive forum!
I found this forum when deciding to do the fast 800 at the weekend and have been reading since then.
I started on Monday 7th so this is day 3. Okay so far and not feeling hungry, but I am struggling yesterday and today, with really sore eyes.
The last time I had sore eyes I was trying a very low carb diet consisting of smoothies and salads and I had to stop.
Can I make any adjustments? My carbs last two days have been around 50g so not super low.
    Any advice welcome 🙂

Hello all, can I join a bit late. I stepped back from the forum and the other Christmas wagon thread when I realised that everything I said I’d do kept failing, so I needed time to get back together.
I’ve lost 2lb 10oz since last week and I’m really pleased and motivated to join this bus. I have a sub goal to reach for my birthday in March and then by April 19 I would only need to lose a further 7lb for my goal so I think this thread is for me! I’m following 800cal Monday to Friday and weekends I just low carb.
Sleep patterns – Saturday night I woke up just about every hour! 🙂

Lolly88 – what did your menu consist of in the last 2 days? Not smoothies and salads I gather? If you let us know someone might be able to help on reducing the carbs. I have a personal level of about 30g, some people do 20g, but if I do that, my hands get very shaky and I can’t co-ordinate properly, I’ve discovered. If I have 30g it reduces that so I try to stay around 30.

    Hi J.
Thanks for the reply. Yes an idea of my food may help!

    Day 1
Breakfast: low fat Greek yog, 3 strawberries and 1 banana, whizzed up with 100ml of milk to make a smoothie (I find it easier to eat like this)

Lunch: Sliced ham, sliced cheese, cherry tomatoes

Dinner: Chicken breast, butternut squash, broccoli, Savoy cabbage and 1 tbsp mayo.

Day two was the same except for breakfast I had 1 slice brown seeded toast with vegemite and 2 eggs.

I walk about 4 miles a day, but no other exercise apart from that. I am 182 pounds. Who knows how high my calorie intake has been for most of last year but I put on 20 pounds through a very poor high fat and high sugar diet and have put on 40 pounds in last 3 years.

Hello Lolly – I am about 182lb too!
Are you wanting to reduce your carbs more or do you think it will make your tongue sorer?
If you are wanting to reduce them more I can see where the 50g is coming from.
Bananas are quite carby. 100ml of milk may contain about 5g? And taking out the banana and milk and replacing with bread – still quite carby. Greek yoghurt – about 7g. I have this often but never bananas.
Also butternut squash would be one of the higher-carb veggies. I do have it occasionally but in moderation.
Have you considered having full fat greek yogurt? The fat in foods should no longer be the enemy it has been perceived when doing this way of eating 🙂

    Hi everyone
I’m also late joining or at least starting. I signed up before Christmas, but was unexpectedly away New Year and then my computer crashed and I only got it back yesterday.

A brief introduction. I have Type II diabetes, did 5:2 and then BSD in 2016. I lost pretty much 6 stone and got my blood sugars back in the non-diabetic range. I maintained my weight loss until the middle of 2018 when I just started eating more and bigger portions – although always low carb. My Hba1c results are still good (my last test was in December), they’ve been in the non-diabetic range for 2 years now, but I want to stop the rot weight-wise. I joined here in October last year, started posting this time (I’m on the October Starter Support group) and lost 18lbs up to Christmas. I’ve put 5lb on over Christmas/New Year which is slightly worrying as I didn’t think I’d eaten that much. But anyway it is what it is.

So, I’m now 11st 7lb and my goal for this road trip is to lose 1 and a half stone (21lbs) which will bring me back into my healthy BMI. My first target is to lose that 5lb!

Looking forward to travelling along with everyone. Hope everyone goes well this week. Nice results RedRooster!

I wonder why this wakefulness is such a thing. I find it very, very hard to get to sleep, then may wake once and then come the morning, can barely get out of bed. As we speak my eyes feel all dry and puffy from feeling like I got up in the middle of a deep sleep….
Am enjoying my food, yesterday was good and today have had scrambled eggs with some cold ham, very filling. I’ve put a chicken in the slow cooker with paprika, garlic and sliced lemon, with thoughts of having green veggies with that. Haven’t decided on lunch yet but got plenty of salad so something with salad I expect.

Hi Lolly88. Sorry to hear you have sore eyes. Do remember that new health complaints may be totally unrelated to this way of eating, so have your eyes checked if it continues. That said, I found that a problem I had with seriously dry eyes actually improved when I started this way of eating. I suspect (but no proof) that this may be linked to increasing my level of fat. I haven’t crunched the numbers, but your diet looks on the low side re healthy fats. Try full fat Greek yoghurt, for example. It would be worth logging what you eat on one of the free apps, and looking at your overall levels of carbs, fats and protein.

I have kept away because I have been on a very self destructing eat everything very knowingly self depreciating path!!
This morning I got up and did my HITT routine
1 minute as many STAR JUMPS rest 40 secs
1 minute as many SQUATS rest 40 seconds
1 minute as many SPRINTS rest 40 seconds
1 minute as many SQUATS rest 40 seconds
1 minute as many STAR JUMPS rest 40 secs
Last year I got down to 20 second rests but I am going to start my day like this every day as a pact with myself. The routine takes 9 minutes but it nearly takes longer to get dressed to do it as need lots of support items!!
I am also incorporating 3x 10mins fast walking which I am going todo each time I think food or spread out these are fast walks!!
I think my not weighing was a ruse to pretend all was well!! When I knew it wasn’t so I will stick to my old above fitness plan which includes a plank, abcurls & wall press ups before I go to bed & hopefully fast till Friday when I will Weigh in & hopefully only a 7lb increase!!
Well done everyone you are all doing amazingly I just need to get my eating under control, always been an all or all type of person!!

    Hi All
First week done, with a 3.75 lbs off. I am a little bit disappointed that 3lbs came off in the two days and then only 0.75 over the rest of the week. I guess it shows that it is not a particularly good idea to weight yourself every day. if I had left it for the whole week I would be more than happy with the loss I have over the week.
This loss is mostly the weight I put on over the festive season, but I suppose its better off than continuing to hang around. Its these little weight fluctuations that often stick and cause the slow creep of weight gain.

Well done everyone for sticking with it so far – keep up the good work, I will definitely keep going as it has been okay to date and I am very motivated to get more weight off.

    Hi All,

So i did BSD last year and had great results I was really pleased but the weight crept back on. I cheated a bit and drank diet coke and ate sugar free sweets so although I got the results I wanted I never addressed my sugar addiction. I tried to hope back on the bandwagon a few times but never made it past lunch day 1 🤣!

On Jan 1st 2019 I started the new Fast 800, This morning I’d done 8 straight days and lost 8lbs. Ive cut out the sweet treats completely and I can’t believe how much easier it is. My cravings have gone and so has my hunger. I realise how much I ate because I was craving sweet stuff or just thirsty before.

Im fasting from 6pm to 10am then having Oats followed by chicken kababs (from the book) then meat and veg for tea to make up the calories. Im literally recommending this to everyone I speak to.

Another positive aspect I’ve noticed on Day 8 – my eyesight seems better. My sugars were really high over Xmas and it gives me slightly blurred vision. After Xmas it was quite bad but now all back to normal. For us T2d’s the diet is brilliant, well pleased.
