As mid summer’s day falls next weekend I thought we could celebrate this week with a really summery feel. So starting tomorrow maybe we could pick a goal that will help us to enjoy the summer more. Whether that’s just drinking more water, eating lots of salads or chilled soups. Getting into a pair of favourite trousers or a swimsuit. For those of us still ‘travellIng’ maybe we could find a piece of summer clothing ‘of the future’ as an incentive. Maybe we could share some favourite summer meals and drinks.
See you tomorrow for our ‘summer fair’! Clean slate, new goals and a bright and sunny outlook to match the season.

DAY 1 of 7. The sun is shining beautifully here to kick off our week of ‘sunshine’. My slate is now wiped clean and my journal has a brand new page. I will not blot my copy book this week.
So my goal this week is to replace red wine with a fizzy, no calorie, summer drink to accompany all those chilled soups and salads. All suggestions welcome. I have also taken out of the wardrobe my ‘top of the future’. I bought it several months ago but have never worn it. It’s lovely and summery, floaty sleeves and pink. It was very slightly snug around the hips when I bought it but I’m not even going to try it on until I reach my ‘lowest weight for years’ again.
Look forward to some company for the next seven days …. just seven days!

    Hello all,

I’m on maintenance this week. Intend to 800 twice a week to keep me calibrated. This weekend marked the end of my 8 weeks of 800 with some celebration and a few culinary indulgences that left me feeling less well than i have been on the WOE plan. So this week i hope to embrace the eating strategy as my own and try not to fall off the pony.
Midsummer is a lovely time. I will be eating poached salmon nicoise this week. Fish, green beans, jammy boiled eggs, crisp lettuce and a black olive-based dressing – among other low carb delights.

    Have a grand week, all.

Am still working at the insulin resistance. Have kept to 20g carbs and intermittent fasting but blood sugars have been much worse for the last 2 weeks. Fasting at 5.4 and for at least 4 hours after a meal at around 6.5. Read some stuff on the .internet which was suggesting that intermittent fasting made insulin resistance worse – a bit scary.

But yesterday – suddenly 5.2 three hours after a meal and fasting is back to 4.8 this morning.

Jason Fung says that this is caused by the body moving sugar from its stores – giving it a chance to burn it off. Maybe I am so insulin resistant because my body is so very good at hanging on to its stores of sugar. I gritted my teeth and resisted the urge to inject some insulin because I know it will just make the insulin resistance worse. I still have some boxes of insulin stored in the fridge from when I used to inject – not brave enough to throw it away yet). Will carry on with the intermittent fasting and 20g carbs. So pleased that I ‘held my nerve’ and kept going and that the good blood sugars are back.

This was the info from Jason Fung that kept me going:-
A question was asked – Should i worry if my blood sugar while fasting goes up to in the 140’s [Around 8]?
Jason’s reply was – This is quite common, and due to breakdown of glycogen or production of new glucose in response to some of the hormonal changes of fasting. It is neither good nor bad.
Think of it this way. Your body is simply moving sugar from its stores (glycogen and fat) and pushing it into the blood. Here your body has a chance to burn it off.

I’ve seen on Jason Fung’s FB Group cold brewed green tea which I’ll be trying today; a tea bag in a jug of filter water refrigerated and left to infuse for 4 hours. Serve with (this will be my twist!) cucumber, mint, strawberries- think Pimms 🍹
Also, picked up a pot of herbs in Sainsbury’s which had lemon verbena, lemon balm and ginger mint so I’ll be trying that. All we need is for the sun to come out.
    Have a happy week everyone.

    Good morning good people,

Here I am. The lovely, smiley Skiny-to-be the day after her 40th birthday yesterday.
So my next 7 days commitment is to re-set to the 800 cals at 20g carbs and after the 7 days to step on the scale to assess the damage what the 2.5 weeks on holidays and the Father’s Day and my birthday celebrations with my lovely lot caused.
The plan for the SUMMER is to get in a better shape to enjoy my birthday present in about 6 weeks time – My husband gave me a week in Switzerland, new £200 walking mountain boots (as my old ones had a broken sole after 8 years) and a posh ‘Ultra deluxe massage and facial’ (worth as much as the boots – Loooool) with a lot of collagen slapped on my face and the result was instantly visible. Needless to say I bought a lot of stuff with higher content of collagen in it 🙂 – so when we walk in the mountains I can walk without being breathless just coming out of the lift at the hotel – LOOOOL.
No, seriously, I went on hols at 78.4kg and I hope in next 5-6 weeks I would go down to minimum of 72kg so would feel better in myself and would be on track to my first task in this new decade and that would be my …. wait for it…. SKIRT :-).
Need to start somewhere and here is a good starting point. Back here, with my friends and support.
    Sending you all my love,

    Hi all,

Thanks Verano for setting up this challenge! As of yesterday I’m firmly back on the wagon, after falling off about a month ago. In that time I’ve put on 4.5 lbs, so I’ll try and shift as many of those as I can in the next week. My meals are mostly all planned out, I’m at a barbecue on Saturday but I’ll just avoid the bread and limit the alcohol. I’ll be flying down to London and back for the weekend, and airports are usually my downfall, so I’ll be mindful of that. Upping my water intake and finally doing some exercise so that should all help. Good luck everyone!

Hi V, back again for another week. Thank you for starting up. My goal again is to lost 2lbs (failed last week but still had a loss). I want my insulin under 30 units. My downfall this week will be a meal out tomorrow night. It is a set menu and I am waiting to hear from the restaurant exactly what they are serving so I can be prepared. I have told them I have an intolerance to starch, so we will see what they say. It is a quiz night so I am not really bothered about the meal, just dont like having to pay for it if I cant eat it.

The weather here has suddenly jumped from 23 / 24 degrees to 30 today so I am sure I will be back in the pool later today so hoping to get lots of exercise. Forecast for the next 2 weeks is the same, sun, sun, sun with temperatures in the low 30’s. About time. See you all tomorrow.

This is similar to gazpacho but less garlicky and more fiery.
Based on a Jun Tanaka recipe. There are lots of ingredients but it’s simple to make.

1kg ripe plum, of other, tomatoes, roughly chopped
1/2 a cucumber, peeled and roughly chopped
    300ml tomato juice
75 ml good red wine vinegar
    2tbsp Worcestershire sauce
10 drops of Tabasco or to taste
1/2 bunch fresh basil, roughly chopped
1/4 bunch of coriander, roughly chopped
1/2 a clove of garlic minced, half really is enough because it isn’t cooked
Salt and black pepper to taste
100ml of good olive oil plus extra 2tbsp
2 Red peppers, cut into 2cm pieces.

1.Place all the ingredients except the red peppers and 2tbsp of olive oil in a large bowl and mix well.
2.Heat the 2tbsp of olive oil in a large pan and fry the red peppers gently for a few minutes until they soften slightly.
    3. Remove pan from heat and add the rest of the ingredients from the bowl.
    4. Leave to marinade for at least an hour. This is important for the flavours to blend together.
    5. Whizz in a blender or use a stick blender.
    6. Sieve. Place in sieve and press down with the back of a ladle or spoon.
I like mine without any of the ‘bits’ but you can leave some if desired. If Esnecca was here I’m sure she would have a good way to use up the ‘grounds’ after sieving. I’m afraid I just dispose of them!
    7. Chill really well and serve with extra basil.
I sometimes serve this as a canapé in shot glasses with a sliver of celery and a big jug of it on the table for refills! Always goes down well and freezes well too.
There are a lot of tomatoes in the soup so it’s a bit on the carby side but it’s not something that you eat too much of. Enjoy!

Hi midsummer celebrants — I thought I would join this week so I can have people to celebrate the solstice with — I love the summer and winter solstices — they are an evocative time and mysterious in a wonderful way — I’ve been thinking about what to do on the 21st of June, maybe go hiking with a dinner picnic up on Granite Chief (a 9,000 foot peak in our valley) and watch the light fade. I think we could stumble down in the dark if we’ve got headlamps on — OH thinks I am crazy!)
Happy birthday skinny-to-be — your trip hiking in Switzerland will be wonderful — we were hiking last August on the Eiger and the Matterhorn — we had such a wonderful time — where will you be staying?

KazzUK – thank you, I can thoroughly recommend the ‘treatment’. it was two (2!) hours long – a back massage and then the face and neck slap on collagen and I was melting away slipping in and out of the abyss of wonderful. At the end of it it was the hands and feet massage. I didn’t want to believe that I would get the instant visual of ‘amazing’ but I took a picture of my face and in all honesty even my husband said I could be guessed up to 7 years younger. The 5* hotel where it was all booked used Carol Joy products. Never heard of it and apparently the Dorchester hotel in London is their base so I also checked for the products but will pass for the time being. it is pricey but I sourced collagen products at the pharmacy in a little bottle and keep slapping in on my face every evening and hoping for the best 🙂

Verano – the soup sounds amazing. My worry is that I would never allow it to cool down I’d be ‘tasting’ the correct temperature until it’d be gone. I may give it a try very soon as I love all things tomatoey.

Californiagirl – we are going to Samnaun, it’s the meeting point of Austria, Italy and Switzerland. The highest peak is called Muttler in the area and we’re going to have her right in front of us when sitting on the balcony. It is something like 3,600 meters (whatever that may be in ft) and although I would like to get on top of her again I don’t think that would be in any shape or form possible with a four year old. Maybe we are going to make an annual ritual of it again. We used to go every year but for my life I cannot remember why we stopped about 7 years ago. I suppose, getting married, starting the family and ‘life’ getting in a way… but I’m determined to revive the tradition, starting this year and teach the little ‘un the beauty of the Mother Nature and the danger of it and mostly to have respect. I’m very much looking forward to it.

It’s not long to go so these coming six weeks ahead are to motivate me to be 800kcals 20g carbs focused and the reward will be immense.
Sending my love and thank you to all for your posts and support.

Well I just have to post! A first! We were out in a new restaurant tonight, Turkish so lots of BSD friendly food, and met a waiter we know from another restaurant from years ago. As a ‘treat’ he brought us a dessert on the house. We both looked at it. It was a sponge, jam, cream and coconut concoction. We didn’t want to offend so I cut 2/3 of the cake off and put it in a serviette and hid it in my bag. I then took a spoon full and smeared it on my plate so it looked as though we had eaten some! I never thought the day would come when I put food into my bag to take home and put in the bin. Progress!

Go Verano! That is so funny! I have become a serious food “smearer” and food “hider” on my restaurant plates! But come on, Why is there so much food anyway and WHY do they bring free desserts and free drinks/liqueurs? I have tipped my liqueurs into nearby potted plants! A memorable night in the Loire Valley comes to mind!
I looked up Samnaun, Switzerland, Skinny — how lovely that looks! Won’t you have a fun time! Hiking is my favorite activity these days— outside, fresh air, good exercise, wonderful meals after — what’s not to like? Have a really great time!

Good morning and just one more day before the ‘official’ start of summer or winter for those in the Southern Hemisphere. I have been in Sydney in ‘winter’ but have to say it was far more like spring in the U.K.!. Anyway, I digress. Hi Buddhas wife and California girl good to have you join us.

S-g I love your idea of being ‘starch intolerant ‘ what a good way to handle BSD when out. I just refuse whatever carbs are on offer but that is far more difficult when you have a fixed menu. Last night I had chicken kebab but refused the tortilla wrap it was sat on and the accompanying rice. But oh dear, the salad, carrot, red cabbage, onions, which I detest raw, a couple of tomatoes all swimming in an oil and balsamic dressing. All far too oily for me. Then of course there was the ‘cake’! Anyway I will be more careful in what I order if we go there again.

Julia I have never ‘smeared’ or hidden food before and it gave me great satisfaction to know that I can resist such food now. There were even two cubes of Turkish delight, which I used to adore, sat on the table and I had no problem leaving them just where they sat. My tastebuds have changed so much I no longer find lemons sour!

Anyway, we are now on DAY 2 working towards our goals. Have a good Wednesday.

I’m here for another week too. My personal week 3. Away for a 3 day girly weekend this weekend and I suspect the Prosecco will make an appearance. But that’s ok as its a planned cheat!
This morning I was exactly 4.7kg down. Over halfway to my 8kg loss which would take me to what I weighed on my wedding day over 20 years and 3 children ago!! But my other goal was to lose 6kg which would take me to my lightest since having kids.
If I can maintain this week and then get back on the plan next week then I will be very happy with that.
    Hope everyone is well x

    Good morning all,
What a story, Verano! Made me laugh hard. 🙂 Good on you.
I was 24 hours fasting yesterday and then in the evening have made some ‘burgers’ – sausage meat with courgettes and lentils with the courgette soup. Love the soup so to ‘jazz it up’ I broke one burger into pieces and dropped into my soup. Loved it very much. Nice twist to it.
I’m planning to KOKO with the carbs but am think I may have gone over 20g yesterday as couldn’t workout how many grams there were in the burgers. Can anyone give me heads up the carbs bracket for losing weight? I keep aiming for 20g but at times when went over 20g I sabotaged then the whole day although I know, it was stupid.
My little girl had to bring a cake for the Down Syndrome charity for the nursery so I woke up 4.45am this morning to make a cake. I am very pleased to report I was so good I didn’t even lick the bowl or the whiskers or the droplet that fell on to the kitchen counter… I don’t know what the texture tasted like. I resisted and feel good about it.

Courgette soup for lunch today and mushroom, courgette, onion omelette for dinner with some salad.

California girl – Samnaun is fantastic, if you also look up Chasa Montana or Silvretta or Nevada hotels they are interconnected underground to enable access to the spa, wellness and swimming pool. I love Switzerland! :-)….and the swiss cheese too 🙂

    Have a wonderful day all,

Morning everyone, weight is up by quarter of a pound but I guess that is the downside of daily weighing. It will go back down. BG is down at 4.7 with another drop in insulin. Down to the 32 yesterday which was my goal. Heard back from the restaurant and they are doing a pork dish and he said not to worry as we have gluten free bread. I explained I dont have a gluten problem but if they are serving it with pots, pas or rice it would be nice if I could have extra veg or a salad. It will be okay, they dont want to kill a customer!!! Now I just have to get past the wine…

Didn’t get in the pool yesterday as it was getting close to dinner time when the temperature got up and I needed to eat dinner before I exercised, then daughter skyped so a long chat, then dinner, then watering the flower pots and the veg and fruit. By then it was nearly 10 pm so a bit late, although it was pretty hot and sticky. I will be getting in this afternoon then shower and hair wash for my night out. See you all tomorrow.

Good to read of all the successes this week. Today I am going to make courgette soup, at last! I think I may try it chilled but will see when I’ve made it. I must admit I can’t imagine that it has much flavour as courgettes are so bland but I will make it with an open mind and report back later.

I hope you managed last night s-g. I have a difficult weekend ahead. We have the family here for lunch on Saturday and we are with friends for lunch on Sunday. Not sure which will be easiest!

    Good morning all,

Verano, good luck today with the courgette soup. If you remember, when I posted the recipe a few weeks back, there are a couple of things to remember. One, the most important is to just about cover the courgettes with water. A bit more and it’s too watery and without insufficient texture. The other one is to fry the onions first a bit and when translucent add the courgette to sweat a bit with the onions before you add the water and oxo cubes or whatever seasoning you’re adding.
I completely understand your feeling towards the soup as so did I the first time my Spanish colleague told me about the soup. My reaction was: ‘A courgette is just water so you cook water in water?’ Needless to say I wanted to prove her wrong and I made that soup that day, all those two plus years back. But what a surprise I was in for. Not only it was delish but my little girl who was two at the time polished the bowl and was eating like there was no tomorrow. You may have seen people’s twist to the soup like adding a bit cream etc. I’ve done it too but my preferred version is to get the creamy soup in its ‘naked’ version and then put different topic – e.g. cheese on top or chopped hardboiled egg and the other day I broke one small burger I made into little pieces and put it into the soup and it was surprisingly very tasty too.
I haven’t had the soup chilled as you’re suggesting as the soup could never get the chance to be chilled as it was always eaten. Or cooked at the end of the day so just took it with me to work and was heated up again. But if you try it and you like it and will chill it too, please do let me know how it goes.

I need to say I am struggling getting back to the routine of 800kcals 20g carbs. I am perfectly ok during the day but then when I get home and have dinner then I keep passing places where there is stuff I pick. and although it is BSD friendly it tips me over the calories. I’d get a little spoon of yoghurt, then a teaspoon of double cream, then a babybell or frozen berries with some double cream…. well, you get the idea. I am not sure how to curb that evening monster in me. I am NOT hungry or sometimes not even peckish but for the love of me I am struggling.

Any ideas who to get back on track please?

    Have a wonderful mid-summer all.
    Lots of love

Hi Skinny to be, Ive just made the courgette soup so your tips came a little late! Anyway, it is lovely but I couldn’t resist adding my own twists. I didn’t have quite enough courgette but I did add a little extra onion which has made it quite carby. My soup works out at just over 10g per serving. I also added 1tbsp of olive oil, a stick of celery and then at the end I couldn’t resist adding a bag of watercress! I also added more water as it was quite thick. So not quite your soup but very lovely none the less! I was surprised when I worked out the calories at just 96 per serving but with the carbs over 10 it’s not really that BSD friendly. Next time I’ll make it with less onion and maybe substitute white onions or shallots.

As for you evening picking I think it’s maybe just a case of mind over matter if it’s ‘mindless’ eating. There’s always the old stand by water, water and more water! When I really ‘fancy something ‘ I make a cup of coffee and have one or two squares of 90% Lindt chocolate. It has great ‘mouth feel’ when the chocolate melts with the coffee. It does sound to me like ‘boredom’ eating. I do jigsaws or you could knit or something anything to keep your mind occupied and your hands busy! Good luck tonight.

    Dear Verano,
thank you for your response. I am not worry about boredom eating tonight. As it happens it’s Thursday and I do fast on Thursdays. I do not eat anything from Wednesday evening until Friday morning so nothing can ‘throw’ me out of my comfort today.
I keep playing all kinds of games with the little ‘un but I think once she goes to bed and I ‘exhale’ then it kicks in. Most of the times it feels I blow the whole day’s commitment in 5 seconds.
I think I’ll follow your advise and will ‘attack’ the bottom of the garden in the evenings to make it pretty to keep me outdoors as far away from the cupboards as possible. Starting tomorrow after the baby goes to bed 🙂
Am taking my lunch break so will pop to Waitrose to buy 90% chocs and will follow your coffee drinking chocolate melting advise 🙂
    Thank you,
    Skinny to be

Hi all, well so much for the nice pork dish at the restaurant. It was belly pork and the fat was white and flabby. I sent it back and asked for the chicken in mushroom sauce and they said I couldn’t have it because the sauce was thickened with flour. Funny how when you make a request they turn into the food police. I guess once you tell them they are responsible. Anyway, I insisted and pushed to sauce to one side and said to the girl – see no sauce, no starch – at least they let me know. They dont understand it is a matter of proportion. If I had ordered the burger and chips it would have been total carb overload. They brought me a mixed salad which was very nice but I was so hungry I had a chicken leg when I got home. Downside of a night out was 3 glasses of wine and a 3/4 pound gain, so up a total of 1lb since Tuesdays weigh it. I did 40 mins in the pool and will be doing the same again today so that should have some impact. Still keeping on…

How many portions did you make Skinny to be? I made 4 large ones and used fatsecret to calculate but to be honest when you look at courgettes ie. Tesco, Asda, A cup(generic) you get a different carb count for each 100g. I think I may try Myfitnesspal again. The soup had been judged by my OH as ‘it could win a prize’ and ‘it’s amazing’ so I guess he likes it!

S-g that made me smile. Hope you had a good night anyway.

Hi V, here in France everyone grows their own courgettes, they are so easy. Not. I was told to only buy one plant and I will be inundated with the things. I planted 3, 2 were eaten by slugs. Managed to rescue one although it was eaten to a stump. I now have one grown, has flowers but no courgettes. The same happened with my melon plants. I could never be self-sufficient. Hey ho.

I saw your gaspacho recipe but cant find the courgette soup – our house sitters made some for our return meal and it was delicious.

I’m not sure where the recipe came from either but it’s as follows

    700g courgettes sliced
120g red onion sliced and fried
    1tbsp butter
1 vegetable or chicken stock cube
    Small amount of water.

Sweat the onion in the butter then add the courgettes and cook until softened. Add the stock cube and a small amount of water. Cook until soft and whizz.

I added 1tbsp of olive oil to the butter and some sliced celery to the onion and sweated both down.
Then I added the courgette and sweated down with a small amount of water for around 10 minutes.
Then I added a vegetable stock cube and about 500 to 800ml of water and cooked until the courgettes were soft. The mixture was too thick without the extra water.
I then added 85g of watercress and wilted down for a few minutes.
    Whizz.
I have chilled a bowl down and added some creme fraiche but it’s nicer hot I think.

    hello girls,

the courgette soup recipe came from me 🙂 a few weeks ago and ClarinetCathy was making in that very morning and loved it. Since then a few people have made it with little twists and turns and reported their love for it 🙂

V, I used 600g pack of courgettes (Waitrose packs usually come at 600g), 1x medium onion (mine was about 70-80g), then 2x oxo cubes (veggie) and a bit of oil for frying the veggies.
Not sure whether it was ClarinetCathy or Krysia or Nicola who put it through MyFitnessPal I think and it came with only 4g carbs and 60something cals.

S-g, if you ever make it, I cannot stress enough, you should only put enough water to barely cover the courgette so it can cook. Once it’s cooked, blitz it until smooth and enjoy 🙂

Have enjoyed sitting in the sun reading today’s posts.

Skinny-to-be – your courgette soup sounds lovely. Will make sure I don’t put in too much water.

Sunshine-girl – the pork belly sounded absolutely disgusting – no wonder you sent it back. Your blood sugars are going down brilliantly – isn’t it a great feeling when you can reduce the insulin.

Butterlover – you are right that it does seem easier in the summer to avoid mindless eating.

Have had a quite stressful couple of weeks trying to run my little business without my computer since it broke. It took longer to get it sorted because the excellent computer firm built me a new computer as well as repairing my broken one. From this morning I have two fully functioning computers working on Microsoft One Drive. I really should have had a second computer ages ago but felt my business was small to justify the expense. Stupid of me really because my time in the office is so limited and I often couldn’t get on the computer because my friend was doing the accounts or the admin.

BSD has gone brilliantly. Did a 21 hour fast over Monday/Tues and 17/7 since. Loads of energy and blood sugars brilliant.

Congratulations, Krys! I’m happy to hear that your IT issues are finally “sorted…There is really no
way to get around our dependency on technology, is there? Is your business related to your
commitment to teaching Pilates? So glad that the fasting is going so well 🙂 I’ve switched from
16/8 to 18/6, which is progress for me!

    Allie,
I run my Pilates business as a limited company and you would not believe just how much admin it involves so it is so good that I have so much help from my friend and my sister.

You are right that there is really no way around our dependency on technology. I had a break from teaching this afternoon and went to a nearby garden centre that does lovely coffee. I was reading this thread in the sunshine and typing my post when husband rang to say a client had arrived at the venue to find I wasn’t there. Had to leave my second cup of coffee that I had just bought and dash back to see my client. In all the chaos caused by the broken computer I had managed to completely mess up my diary.

You are doing really well with your fasting. Are you doing the 18/6 a couple of days a week – or more often?

Good morning all. The sun is shining here and we are almost half way through this week. So, still time to catch up if there have been any rough patches. I had an odd day yesterday feeling really picky for some unknown reason. So out came the cheese and crackers, twice, a small packet of crisps and then not feeling like the salmon I had planned for dinner, we went out for a Thai meal. So way over my calories and carbs! Anyway today is another day, new start, clean slate.

Skinny-to-be I made my soup in a medium size pan and the 500 or so mls of water barely covered the courgettes. But I have to say they were no where as ‘watery’ as I had imagined. Maybe they were under ripe. Who knows, anyway it is lovely. Next I have to make seeded crackers. I have two recipes, one from Kazz, I have all the ingredients now I just have to make them! Maybe later. At least if I have a cheese meltdown it will be with BSD friendly crackers!

Hope the sun is shining on you. Have a good day.

    Good morning all,
V, the ‘barely to cover the courgettes with the water’ is to ensure it’s not too watery once you blitz the soup. It is always easier to add water at the later stage. I’m glad you like it and finding it ‘lovely’ 🙂 because you’re right it is lovely.
I also need to tell you after reading your response to my boredom eating, you should see my garden bushes today. I spent about 1.5hours (and also with the little ‘un) in the garden and would say that it has started looking good. I have been given a beautiful rose bush in a pot which is standing at the end of my patio and the orange colour brightens the place a little bit more. Now with the rest of it trimmed I’ll go and to the bottom of the garden. It got me to move away from the kitchen and that’s all that matters.
Once I got in, to keep me occupied I got to the basket with the washing and was pairing socks, folding the stuff and prepping shirts for ironing. Watched ‘Vera’ and then hit the pillow. As a ‘practise’ run, it was good although I wasn’t struggling because it was my fasting day I’ll see whether i’ll be equally strong and productive I was yesterday.
Also, how do you do the 90% choc an coffee, do you put it into the coffee and melt or you get a piece of chocs in the mouth and have a sip of coffee and melt that way?

KrysiaD – it is lovely, quick, inexpensive and low cals/carb. Put any twist you can think off if you want to ‘jazz it up’ Like a sprinkle of cheese or bacon or else. Let me know what you think.

Have a wonderful (the first ‘shorter’ 🙂 ) day and a weekend ahead if I don’t get to speak to you.

    All the best,
    Skinny to be
    xx

Hi Skinny to be I usually sip the coffee through the chocolate…. very lush! Glad you managed to keep busy yesterday. Paperwork has kept me busy all morning with lots of shredding and moving papers from one pile to another! But at least it looks tidier now I just have to go through a pile of magazines. That should keep me busy for a few hours but maybe I’ll do that sitting in the sun. Off to have soem courgette soup now.

Just relaxing for a moment before I dash off to work. Computer woes not quite sorted. I write lesson plans and do exercise sheets with pictures of the exercises for clients – and now they look OK on the computer but some of the pictures are not printing properly. I dashed off an SOS email to the computer company at midnight last night.

So 2 hrs after my lunch yesterday BS were only 5.5 which is brilliant because I had sat front of the computer for the whole two hours. No walking whatsoever.

Hi all, didn’t post yesterday as it was a tale of woe but I put it on the Just Starting… Again thread. Basically I have gained 1kg since Tuesday and for no apparent reason. This morning I have lost half of that so things are not quite so bad. I am having a break but that doesn’t mean I can eat carbs and in fact I have probably eaten less as I couldn’t finish my lunch yesterday and then saved half of my dinner for my evening snack and then couldn’t eat that. I just look at the food and cant be bothered. Had a lovely swim this morning and will probably go in again tonight after we have been to the cinema. Have a good weekend.

    DAY 6 of 7.
S-g I’m with you in taking a break from weighing and counting but being mindful of carbs. As with most things, every now and again you just need a change. I get weighed daily, and have done for as long as I can remember, but this week I have managed a few days without weighing. I just feel the need for a change. Now and again things just need a good ‘shake up’.
    Enjoy the sunny weekend!

Hi all, lost some more so who knows what our bodies get up to. My idea of taking a break is to stick to the diet with the exception of a couple of glasses of wine. It was so good to sit outside until 11pm with a glass and watch our little family of owls feeding and teaching baby to fly. I did have a 30 min swim so maybe that helps. We went to the cinema to see Oceans Eight – a silly little romp but good fun. Good for us the snack bar doesn’t open when it is an adult film as the French wouldn’t dream of snacking but it seems strange to us not to be able to get a bag of crisps or popcorn – but good for me.
