Hello all – I’m really pleased to have found you all……… I did the BSD in 2015 and lost 6 stone in 5 months! However stupid repeated patterns meant I have put back on 3 of those stone. I kick myself everyday as I need to lose 8 stone in total and it has taken me 2.5 years to get my head in the right space and start again. Something has finally clicked. You can never do a regime such as this unless you have it cemented in your brain. So the scales this morning show a 10lb loss. I have stuck rigidly to the diet and kept to 25g carbs a day with 2 big hour long walks in the week. Apart from that my job means I am fairly sedentary. I have found diet coke has curbed any sweet cravings but I know this will only be for a couple of weeks – it’s so bad for you! I am fasting until 1pm each day (sometimes later) and so the 800 calories are going far. I am determined to crack it this time and KEEP IT OFF so I am sure I will be a regular poster/contributor to this forum, Strangely since starting I can not eat enough fish – prior to this I have been a dedicated meat eater. Weird…… Anyway here’s to week 2 and beyond.

    Hi Lucy!
I’m a newbee and have just finished wk1 so thought it might be good if we could support or offer tips to each other as we go? I’m a REALLY big bird (πŸ˜‚), suffered weight problems all my life and got diagnosed Type2 diabetic couple of years ago. So far I’m really impressed with the diet! Can’t believe I’ve had no substantial hunger, cravings or headaches etc (although I have been drinking water for England) and managed to lose 15lb. Know that was a lot of water weight and it will slow down but a little step in the right direction eh?
I love to cook so if you ever run out of ideas or need moral support I’m your girl! x

Welcome to both of you and best wishes for continued success. I recommend you both join other threads, to benefit from the wisdom and knowledge that us ‘old timers’ have gleaned along the way. There will be a new four week challenge starting on the 21st March, which you might like to join, as these groups help to keep those on the challenge focused and accountable.

We are a friendly bunch and you’ll be welcomed on to any thread you feel has relevance to you, so just dive in. Shout if you have any specific issues to which you can’t find an answer and someone will respond for sure. Use the search box in the top right corner of the page to search for any particular topics.

You have both made a really solid start and I hope you will both be posting more positive results soon.

Welcome, ladies! You are off to a great start. I can’t endorse Sunny’s suggestion enough to join in one of the active
challenges πŸ™‚ It is truly the best opportunity to meet the community at large, and they are usually very
active threads. Sunny and I are just 2 of the old timer “maintainers” here, and we both try to welcome new BSDers,
but it can be a challenge to follow everyone starting their own thread πŸ™‚ Keep an eye out for the new challenges
as they come along. I’ll be watching out for you there. I was once a “big bird” too, and have lost over 50% of my
body weight. You can accomplish anything with this WOE (way of eating) !
Pipper, there is a thread entitled “Good Eats..” for those that are talented low carb cooks, that may be of interest
to you. There are always fresh ideas being shared there, and it has re-awakened my interest in cooking again. Have
    a look!
Very best wishes for your continued success.

Wow Pipper well done you – over a stone in a week. I think we should join Alex49 and become the 3 Musketeers! I’m very hungry now (it’s after 6pm in Ireland) and had my usual lunch at 1pm. Nothing else but water and peppermint tea so feeling really good. However just about to leave work and hope I don’t pick at anything before eating dinner. Tonight I haven’t anything planned….. ouch! Usual lunch for me is my ‘Greek Salad’ with 25g of feta and either tuna, chicken or prawns. Today was prawns! Then I have a really nice bottle of balsamic vinegar which is aged so slightly syrupy and with lots of salt and pepper, who needs oil? If anyone has some nice take to work fail safe lunches I would love to hear. I have all the bsd books but it is other peoples recommendations that really work. However I am going to go have a look at the eating part of the forum this evening,
    Lucy

Hi Lucy, my practice is to fast all day then use my calories for a good evening meal in the evening. Mostly because I’m to lazy to work out the calories of 3 meals a day πŸ˜‚ but also because I like to have a good fast between meals. Stressful day today so I’m having my tea then bath and an early night. Have nice evening xx

Hate to say it, but actually carb-wise you would be much better off with oil than balsamic and the fats in the oil would help with feeling sated more quickly and stay feeling that way for longer. On the other hand, there are sugars in balsamic and although you won’t be using masses of it, it’s still sugary and therefore whilst lower in calories, much higher in carbs than oil so something to be very cautious about. Remember that carbs drive hunger and so it’s best to keep your carb load low.

Long day for you Lucy πŸ˜• I did a load of batch cooking for the freezer today so that I’ always have an evening meal to fall back on if my day goes bonkers! If I lived nearer I’d pop round and put some in your freezer to help, suppose I could send some in a jiffy bagπŸ˜‚ Looking forward to the journey with you all girls, together we are an army!

hey sunnyb that does make sense about the balsamic vinegar because I am craving ice cream this evening and I have had 2 salads today with balsamic vinegar. Perhaps I will change tomorrow to a bit of olive oil and some white wine vinegar which i think has lower carbs.

    Hi newbies – welcome.
I’ve been on this woe for 11 weeks now – no longer a newbie but not an old-timer either. You’ve had some really good results so far – keep it up and it will pay off. I’m a big bird too and have lost just over 2.5 stones. I’m itching to reach that first 3 stone goal very soon.
Lucy – I was really impressed to hear of your 6 stone loss in 5 months. That is very impressive in such a short timescale and you managed to keep half of it off too which is brilliant – you’re not starting right back at the beginning again.
I look forward to hearing your updates and sharing your journey with you.

Well tomorrow (Monday is my weigh in) but I am 14 lbs down in 2 weeks (10lb the first, 4 the second)! My tummy has shrunk too! I had some gin and slimline tonics at the weekend (well it was St Patrick’s Day…) and have been rigorous with the eating plan. No exercise though this week so I know I can beat 4lbs off next week if I just move a bit more. Ireland March 18th and its snowing!!! It’s no wonder I don’t fancy a walk……

That’s a great result Luce, well done. I’m not weighing in this week…im away for the week with no scales…mini holiday so being a bit more relaxed, though keeping to the rules much as I can. I have had a string desire for chocolate all day which I have fought off…any suggestions for alternatives to satisfy my sweet tooth?
