Sorry if this is in the wrong place but is there a forum for the fast 800 Keto – received the book about an hour ago and literally nearly half way through, would love to connect with people who are going to give it a go!

No this isn’t the wrong place! All of the people on this forum follow some sort of low carb way of eating. Take a look at some of the ‘weekly’ threads which have a huge mix of people …. oldies following low carb for 5+ years down to new joiners just like you. You have taken the first step to a healthier life …. enjoy !

    Hi onestepatatime.

How are you getting on with the book? Mine arrives tomorrow and I’m really looking forward to it. I always find Michael Mosley’s books to be inspiring. I started with the Blood Sugar Diet book back in 2017 and have followed his ways of eating (on and off I admit!) since then, losing weight and gaining friends along the way.

It’s really helpful to get involved with one or more threads on the forum. You’ll find like-minded people who can support you as you do this together, whether that’s cheering you on on a good day or empathising when things don’t go to plan! I was a bit hesitant at first, as I was convinced everyone else would be able to stick to it apart from me 🙃 But it can really help you to keep going and realise pretty much everyone else feels just the same too.

Good luck! As Verano said, there is a fabulous weekly thread with some lovely people on it which is great for working at short term goals. A group of us are also doing a longer 100 day challenge over on the Easter Journey thread which you’d be very welcome to join in with.

Keep us posted as to how you get on! X

Thanks Dreamscometrue, I’ve read the book and done a menu plan (although had to keep changing it as Ocado seem to be low on all stock and not a chicken breast to be seen!😂)
Today is the first day and so far so good! One of my biggest issues is constantly thinking about food when I’m dieting which usually leads to my downfall.
I’m hoping that meal planning will help.

Well done for Day One! Thinking back to my very early days when all this was new, I felt very uncertain and convinced I’d “fail”. I just could not believe it when I started losing weight quite quickly.

I managed the thinking about food thing by building in snacks. Not strictly on plan I know, but it worked for me. At the time I had a very intense job in a school, and breaks and lunches were full of potential bad food choices! Also, because the job was stressful, I’d hit the wine as soon as I got home.

So I got into an initial routine of scrambled egg for breakfast then would take hummus and veg for mid morning break – avoiding the cakes on the staff room! I’d have soup for lunch then a few almonds at the end of the school day. I’d then get home a couple of hours later and make dinner straight away to avoid further snacking. And go to bed early for the same reasons! After a few days adjusting to this I was fine and not craving food any more – so cut out the mid-morning/afternoon snacks.

But each to their own, and you’ll find your own way through. What I personally felt in the early days was that because it’s a high protein/fat diet you don’t actually get that hungry; it’s more a case of breaking bad eating habits and forming new ones.

Good luck! And let us know how you’re getting on any questions just ask X
