    Hi!

There has been some confusion and questions about how long we advise staying on the 800 calorie plan so the team has posted our recommendations here: How long can I stay on the 800 calorie plan?

We can’t offer advice to anyone specific to them – if you have questions about your own situation or if you are considering doing the 800 calorie diet past 12 weeks, you need to talk to your doctor or health care provider.

I hope that helps clear up some misunderstandings!

Thanks for this clarification, I didn’t realise we were supposed to stop as soon as reaching a healthy BMI for instance, so the post was very useful.

If only I could stick to something long enough to have to make that decision.
    I’m a total failure.

Green and White…. if you’ve fallen, just get up, duar yourself off and climb back on board. Come and join us on the weekly thread and we’ll do our best to keep you seated on the wagon.

Out of interest, what’s the advice for starting again? I’ve read in the books you might want to do 2 weeks to get back on track, but if you’ve got a lot to lose could you do 12 weeks again after waiting 6 months or just the other options?
Equally if you went back to old ways of eating, could you do the 12 weeks again, or would the advice be to talk to your doctor? (Pretty hard to get hold of though!)
    Thanks ☺️

Hi Al, you probably wont get a reply from the Admin team as they don’t monitor every post. Yes you can do the 12 weeks again, in fact, not many of us manage a full 12 weeks without falling off the wagon and having some sort of mishap. I personally have been doing the 800 for 6 years. I am diabetic and the very low carb keeps my number steady – even a small slice of bread can sent me off track. However, it is unlikely I am at 800 every day, more like 1000 to 1200. If you want to continue with a further 12 weeks it might be advisable to have a couple of weeks off or go onto something like 5:2 for a couple of weeks. I can also say, if you mess up on this diet it is so easy to start to see results when you start again.

Merry, thought about reporting but there is some good advice in there, and seems to understand VLCD. Maybe they should just take the link out of their profile.
