Oh yes Cherrianne ,actually that was a bit of a rarity, an intelligent spammer.
Most of them are of the brainless link drop and run type.
Isn’t it the middle of the night over there ?

I have reported it as well Bill
-
On the ball as usual Judith 🙂
-
Yeah, cherrieanne, are you having a bad night too? Hope not 🙂
-
Wow! I weighed myself last night, after 10 days in, and 9lbs down! can’t quite believe it – don’t seem to have lost anything round the waist yet, but looking forward to getting back into clothes I haven’t been in for a couple of years!
-
First way in. Day 4 and I’ve lost 3lbs. Quite pleased with that. My weight varies quite a bit from day to day anyway so I’m not sure it means much but it’s encouraging.
-
I am hopefully starting this today. I cannot find menu plans on this site. Are they in the book? (I have Kindle version)
My HbAc1 was 64 last week. Today I weigh 79.1kg and goal weight is 65kg. My last Retinopathy showed ‘slight bleed’ in 1 eye. That scares me and I know I MUST do something positive. Trouble is though that worrying also raises BS. I’m feeleing very anxious -
Bee Lady, you can do it! The recipes are in the book – there are links in various sections of the kindle book to take you through to the recipe section, or go to the contents page and get there that way.
There are some recipes on the website, too – take a look under the “recipes” menu at the top of the page.
-
Well done ali2on 9lbs in 10 days is brilliant!
Beelady, google dailymail 8 week blood sugar diet, michael mosley wrote 5 articles and numbers 2 to 5 each have a weeks menu with recipes, I. Printed them off before my book arrived and stuck them in a book, I still refer to them. Read bills posts,he had 4 retinopathy ops before this diet and now his eyes are fine after being at risk of blindness.
You really can do this, don’t wait just do it! Just shout for help and there are people who willl help and support you 🙂 -
Bee Lady, the suggested menu plans are in the kindle version of the book right at the end after the recipes. I haven’t followed them though – I’m just picking out the things I like the look of and which my husband will eat!
Do give the diet a try. It does feel a bit strange not having the carbs if, like me, you’re used to eating them at every meal but I’m finding foods I like and haven’t been horribly hungry and no cravings yet.

Hi All, this coming Monday, will be the end of week 3. So far I lost 4.8kg. Had a few social things going on this week, but tried to stick to the plan. When I weight in last week, i kind of felt lighter, and the scales confirmed this. I also measured my waist again, but there was no change…. How can that be? Am I loosing from elsewhere? I thought the waist would shrink first?… I am a bit worried sbout my weigh-in this Monday, because I dont have that skinner feeling this time… If a couple of glasses of red wine a one meal out, Chinese … and no, I didnt eat the rice and only picked out steamed vegies and the meat with my chopsticks, will make such a difference resulting in no weight-loss for my week 3, then I dont know if this will work for me…. I am at a stage where I have been so many times before: I go well for a couple of weeks, then the doubting Thomas syndrome gets me, I fall of the wagon, and start saying to myself: Why are you putting so much effort in when it does not work anymore… and then I get all frustrated and angry with myself and, yes you guessed right, go for the chocolate or anything I can find, all the bad stuff of course… Any idea how to overcome this if Monday’s weigh-in is no good? I know I should not be doubtfull before I stepped on the scales, but I am usually pretty right and understand what my body is telling me…. Could you hit a plateau in only eeek 3? Otherwise, I am fine… No headaches or cravings or hunger etc…. I want that skinnier feeling back …:-(
-
Inka- well done for what you have achieved so far. I would certainly stick with it as I didn’t see the results in my waistline initially. I certainly do now (11kg lost) but the extra fat first disappeared from my upper back, arms and thighs as well. It’s only 8 weeks (depending on your starting weight it might not even need this long?) and I feel and look so much better than before. I am one of those who has tried so many times to lose weight and this is without doubt the easiest way and safe too.
-
Hi there Inka and other friends – I can totally relate to your frustrations, felt a little down in the dumps myself this week as my waist inch loss got off to a flying start in the first week, 2 inches lost, the following week fluctuated down to 34 inches and now in my third week is back to 35 inches. I also came across scales at the gym in the hotel I am staying at earlier this week so took the plunge and weighed myself – first time since I set off travelling in January – I was so shocked and upset to see I weighed in at 66kg, the heaviest I have ever been – what was even more worrying was the fact that I have already been on the low carb diet for 3 weeks so goodness knows what I weighed three weeks ago. Anyway, thankfully am reigning it in now so it is hopefully, onwards and downwards! I am using myfitnesspal to record everything I eat/drink, am finding it a useful tool. I have also taken advise of many forum members in measuring/recording other body parts too like hips, chest, neck, arms. In various research I have done I’ve picked up is that one shouldnt measure waist (or other body parts) daily – advice is every few weeks or once a month – so I am going to leave it 3 weeks before I get my tape measure out as I find it too soul destroying to see my waist at a static 35″. I’ve pasted below the advice on measuring from myfitnesspal.
Onwards and downwards my friends. To help track your progress, you should record your weight periodically. We suggest once a week because your weight fluctuates daily due to uncontrollable factors like water. Try to always weigh yourself at the same time of day – we suggest early in the morning before breakfast.
Taking your measurements can be an even better gauge of your progress because when you burn fat and build heavier muscle, your weight may not change or even increase even though your body is tighter and smaller. We suggest taking your measurements every 2-4 weeks.

Thanks for your responses, Monkeyescapade and Julie18togo!
I use FitnessPal too and yes, I like it too. I will wait with rhe meaurements and will soldier on. Everyone’s success is sooo encouraging and it is good to know that others also encounter the same issue, worries and disappointments… But the main thing seems to be to keep going which has always been a problem in the past for me. I am beginning to get used to not eating the yummy crispy role or sourdough slice with butter on it :-0… I dont really have a sweet tooth, its the carbs, especially pasta and any shape and form of potato… I just love the starchy stuff….but I am learning to live withour it…. Keep your fingers crossed for me for Monday’ s weigh-in. Hope you all are doing well. Happy Easter everyone … Wishing you all the strengths to resist the easter eggs!!!! Will let you know how I went on Monday! -
Hi Inka, as the others have said, stick with it you WILL see the changes, you have to on this diet. Have a lovely weekend 🙂
-
Hi folks
As hashimoto says, stick with it.
Loads of people have had plateaus, and yes as early as week 3 and they al came out the other side. One in particular lost nothing for over a week then had an overnight 6 pound loss.
Bad idea to weigh yourself on a different set of scales than your usual ones.
Couple of years ago I had been weighed on the chemists scales that I used all the time.
Next day I was having a diabetes review at the docs and when I got on the scales they showed me a whole stone heavier than the day before.
I objected loudly and the doc fetched the scales from the surgery next door. The stone vanished.
Moral ? All scales are not equal.
It’s very easy to lose weight without losing inches too as the fat drains from your internal organs and body parts that you wouldn’t usually measure.
Keep the faith, you will get there. -
To all Australians; Dr Michael Mosely will be interviewed on ABC radio, Monday night in Tony Delroy show.. He is currently in OZ promoting his latest book – the BSD we are all following…. Just thought you might like to listen in. If you are not in OZ right now, I Think you can still find the ABC in digital radio world too.

Hi Judith and Bill,
Yes I’ve had a few sleep disturbed nights this week. My six year old brought a tummy bug home from school! Very virulent, kids and teachers going home sick. Five changes of sheets the first night from her being sick, needing cool baths etc to bring her temp down. Quickly spread to me and hubby, and three of our other kids. Luckily the oldest was away at camp and didn’t come home till it was over. So she scored 6 out of seven for spreading germs around lol. All good now though 🙂Hi Inka, if you have a supplier near you, no need to do without bread. Google Herman Brot bread. 2.3g carbs, 111 cals per slice and a big 11.7g protein. I’m assuming from your post you live in Aus. apologies if you don’t for getting your hopes up! 🙂
-
Cherrieanne sorry to hear about the bug – nothing worse than having young children being so sick. Glad it is all over for you 🙂
-
Cherrianne glad everyone is ok now. 😊
-
Thanks Judith and Lynne, we are all better. Just glad it wasn’t in the hot weather so I didn’t have to worry too much about them dehydrating.
Lovely how kids catch everything going in the first year or two of school isn’t it?
Oh well, it’s got to be good for their immune system in the long run 🙂 -
Hi Everyone,
Great to hear how you are all doing.
I’m at the end of week seven and at my weigh in today I’ve lost a total of 33lbs.
For all of you who find your weight stalls occasionally don’t let it get you down.
I weigh myself on a Friday and occasionally I’ve jumped on the scales on a Tuesday and found I’ve lost nothing, but it soon gets going again.
For me it’s now more of a way of life than a diet. -
Great news, Bruno! 33lbs in 7 weeks is fantastic! You are so right about this being a way of life now. 🙂
If you live in the UK would you mind signing the petition we have got going? It’s to ask the NHS to encourage T2 diabetics to follow this diethttps://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/125704
Thanks and well done
-
H Hashimoto,
That’s the petition signed.
I’m in Scotland and thankfully we are still part of the UK 🙂 -
Great, bruno 🙂
-
Signed, and link sent to a few friends. Not sure if they will sign, but you never know.
-
Fantastic missay 🙂

Hi all, haven’t posted in a week or two. Had a holiday and lost the plot a bit but back on it. To recap, I’ve done 4 weeks of the plan and dropped 9.8lb bringing me to 11.6.8 – after my holiday I decided to start another 4 weeks and my start weight is 11.10 (that was Wednesday, by Thursday I was 11.9.2😁)
Doing good so far although the Easter break has brought a few challenges (bottle of wine anyone😖, leading to hangover munchies)
Loving catching up with everyone’s progress.
Inka if I can give you a bit of advice? IMHO this plan is different & better to anything I’ve done before, so I feel I have to be different & better. Leave behind the sabotaging behaviour of the past, think of “plateau’s” as maintenance, your body’s time to get used to less of it. If we always do what we’ve always done, then we won’t change. My username is my way of saying to myself it’s time, time to change years of dieting/cheating/kidding myself. I deserve to be healthy, I don’t deserve a bag of chips/bucket of wine/box of chocolates. And if I do have any of those things, I put them behind me a& work on the triggers that made me splurge too much. For the first time ever, I can see another me peeking out from the mirror, even with as strict plan as this it does take time – give it 8 weeks, I think you’ll be delighted what it gives you.
Apologies for long rant, can’t sleep 😉 -
Inka… try not to get disheartened you can do it and you will feel much better.. I know the advice is to weigh yourself every week but I jump on the scales every morning and that keeps me motivated much better as if I need to be a bit stricter I can be. If I wait for a week I convince myself that I wont have lost weight and don’t like waiting to find out.
I definitely had a Good Friday this year, I weigh 9st 7 3/4lbs, my lowest weight for 40 years. That means I have lost 8lb in 6 weeks on BSD although 31lbs in total over the last 2 years using different methods including 5.2 diet. This has been the best diet I have ever been on and I have no problem keeping my carbs low and am no longer addicted to sugar. My blood sugar levels are always in the normal range so I am absolutely delighted but must make sure I never go back to my old habits because there may come a time when I cant reverse it. My BMI is 24.7 (no clothes) and I have never in my life had a normal BMI so there is hope for everyone. I love reading the encouraging posts and will still keep in touch with the forums even though I will go to maintenance plan soon. -
After a pretty tricky week – some unplannable work lunches and hot cross buns! – I’ve lost another 1.5lb this week but also an inch on my waist. Able to fast longer between eve and breakfast too which is good and feel much less tired. I’m pleased with progress so far. Roll on week 3!
-
Shadow 2, fantastic results there – lowest weight for 40 years – WOW- go girl go!!! I know I will never go back to the old way of eating. More than one person has told me I am fitter and healthier than they have seen me in years, why would I want to wreck that?
Like you I weigh my self every day so if I don’t like what the scales are telling me I will be stricter on myself. If I do like what the scales tell me I don’t want to wreck my good progress. Horses for courses though – I know not everyone feels the same about daily weigh-ins.
Talking about weigh ins – I just hit 2stone 7lbs loss !!! Yipeee!!! For over a week, since soon after completing 8 weeks I increased my calories while sticking to the principles of the diet, the keto sticks showed I was still fat burning and yes, I lost a pound in just over a week while eating the number of calories I used to eat!
I’m jumping up and down with delight – and not quite so much fat to wobble!
It is amazing to have a normal BMI.Shadow2 please keep posting – the post 8 weeks is important for those of us at that stage and reassuring for those who are still on that journey. The post 8 weekers are the a new kind of pioneer on this diet!
Inka, thanks for your post about M M on Australian radio.
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
-
Hi folks, I know a number of you have already signed our petition – but I just want to keep it in view for those who don’t know about it yet 🙂
-
Funkydoofamily, that’s a very good result, especially if you have been eating off piste, so to speak! 🙂
-
Morning BSD’ers
Week 8 weigh day and another two and a half pounds gone.
That gives me an 8 week total of 25 and a half pound weight loss and a 4 inch waist reduction. Under 15 stones for the first time in 25 yeas. People who know me say my face is thinner too. (I never knew I had a fat face 😉 )
Not as remarkable a loss as some but given I’m older than some and long term T2B I’m delighted.
I’m going to stay on the plan until I hit my first target weight of 13.5 stone and re evaluate then.
Best of luck to you all for this weeks results and, as always.
Onwards and upwards. -
FANTASTIC Bill you are such an inspiration – big hugs and well done!
-
Bill your results have been amazing – thats nearly 2 stones! The lightest you have been for 25 years is a real achievement. Then there is your lower blood sugars, improvements in your eyes . . . And I could go on.
You truly are inspirational. 🙂 -
Bill I am delighted for you – what an inspiration you are to the rest of us. It’s so much harder to lose weight when you are older, but you have shown it can be done. Be very proud of your achievements.
Janice -
Hi Bill
Id consider your 8 weeks as a total success. Your achievements in that time are pretty awesome. Totally agree with Judith! Read back on some of your posts and you’ll see what huge changes you’ve made in your health and well being in such a short time.
Would you ever have dreamed two months ago that you could achieve all you have already? For once I have to disagree with you, you are remarkable and should be proud of yourself !!
Consider yourself ‘told’ man 🙂 -
Thanks so much my friends
You know what Cherrianne ? Something struck a loud chord in me when I first read the book. It just made sense, but not just that, it was telling me to do just about the opposite of everything I knew about diabetes. The knowledge that I had based my life on, given to me by professionals and which wasn’t working and I was getting worse. My train of thought was that if I did the opposite of everything that was giving me bad results, then just maybe I could get opposite results.
Didn’t that work well ?
Two months ago I was confident that I could achieve something good.
The reality has been beyond my wildest dreams.
I also have the added bonus of meeting some of the nicest, friendliest people I have ever known on these forums.
Long may it continue. -
Well said, cherrianne 🙂
-
Bill, I strongly believe you reap what you sow! You sow support, love and care for others, glad you’re enjoying the harvest x
-
Bill, I’m so pleased for you. See you on the other thread.
-
This week I’ve lost another 3 pounds. Total now 39 pounds 😃
-
Wow, lynne you are a star! Won’t be long before you hit the 3 stone mark!!!! 🙂
-
Thanks Judith. When I started this I weighed 16 stone exactly. Not a good look at 5′ 2″ when stretched😳 Today it’ 13 stone 3 pounds. Another 4 pounds and I’ll be in the 12s. 😱
-
Hi Tme4change
Love your rant
Penny -
Thanks Penny 😉 Felt v passionate about bsd in the middle of the night lol!
Well done Bill & Lynne, you guys are such a great example to what you can achieve on this plan💐 -
Fantastic weight loss captainlynne! When I joined these forums 7 weeks ago there was a handful of you guys who seemed well established. Its really great to be seeing you progress to really big numbers!
-
Well done captainlynne — I have just completed week 10 and lost 2lbs this week total of 2stone 3lbs and feeling fine. It will be interesting to see how we all survive our first Easter with out chocolate not that I have any cravings for it– but it’s also my birthday on Monday so eating out. do you have any tips on navigating menus when eating out?
-
Bill I am totally in agreement with Cherianne. I believe you reap what you sow, and you sow encouragement, advice and help and in return you have reaped our loving thanks.
