Week 4 complete after a couple of events that normally would’ve caused problems:
    1. A funeral – drank tea instead of booze.
    2. Seaside trip to take ageing mother out at seaside.
Could I resist the stunning fish and half chips?
    Nah, life’s too short.
    3. A gig at local club – could I resist a pint after 28 days?
Nah, drank 2 pints of ale – enjoyed the first one, but not the second – just habit.
    4. Skipped the usual 3 gym/spin sessions [typically 900 cals each]

I have returned willingly to the plan inbetween times and it’s good learning for the future: I didn’t turn into a blimp and lost 3 lbs.
Also enjoyed 2 long, mindful and pleasantly tiring bike rides at the seaside for a change.

    Obligatory Mindfulness plug :
I am starting Week 3 of the on-line [Palouse] Mindfulness course – links in another post. The science behind it has now caught up, in the same way that the BSD has a proper scientific basis. It is hugely complementary to BSD since the focus is on mindful behaviour generally, as well as focussed relaxation . Much discussion and practice touches on mindful eating, since if you don’t get that right not much else works.

Quite exceptional learning, even for one who has meditated off and on for ages, and a marvellous free resource. Decided to do it so I could ‘graduate’ just before my big birthday and as a refresher. I’ll finish two weeks after BSD.
