I confess that I have been absent for at least 18 months if not more in here, but I HAVE got to get back on track!
My Hb1Ac has slowly increased worryingly due to my lack of control and addiction to sugar / carbs.
I KNOW this WOE works and so purchased the latest book The Fast800 and delighted to see its updated.
I addition, my doc sent me to a specialist re liver as results showed fat around it and so am now ‘looking forward’ NOT to further tests to determine what’s the diagnosis. This has prompted me to get myself inline.

For our sunday lunch , I have prepared micheals easy roast, smells divine.

If am honest, I am a tad scared of getting back on it at 800 cals and how I will find it but as long as try to do my best, I can expect to lose weight, reduce if not give up (eventually) the meds and sugars come down to acceptable range!!

Good for you 1960smp and welcome back !!
Great that you know it works too – and you can only do your best. If (and its an if) you fall down, you get back on it again 🙂
I really thought 800 calories was going to be tough but its not rubbish as I thought it would be (big praise right ?!).
First two weeks are spent getting used to it and find your levels with carbs and whatnot – be particulalry kind to yourself in this part. Then I am sure you will be flying !

Welcome back 1960 – we’ll be pleased to share your new start and offer support where we can. Many of us here on the forum have been around with the BSD for a good while and are happy to share experience and knowledge. Obviously this isn’t all new to you, which will hopefully make things easier this time round. Look out for the weekly threads, as these offer lots of encouragement and we’re always pleased to welcome new ‘faces’. Best wishes ….

Thank you so much everyone, for the lovely warm welcome!
I am hoping to be able to myself justice and stick with it….I tend to be one of those that when returning to a challenge , because I did it before, struggle to keep up the momentum, but that’s being negative….so, today I feel quite positive and meals planned ( that was hard work lol ) have weighed myself and will try not to think food, food food!
I am also under the hospital as they are looking into a possible fatty liver – non alcohol related, so I want to get fat off my organs so no more medications are added or at least less and when they see me again and do tests, there is a visible good change on scans.

Right, think I will head over to a weekly thread….

You have an excellent health driver to help keep you focused and heading in the right direction. Planning ahead is helpful, especially at the start, while the habit of this way of eating is bedding in. This is a brand new start for you, so make the most of it and make it count.

Hi 1960smp and welcome back. It’s great that you’ve made this decision. I also have type II diabetes and came back here because I re-gained 2 stone and my daily bgls – while still in the normal range – were creeping up. There are quite a few of us returners. Don’t worry, you’ll soon get into the swing of things.
Anyway, what I really wanted to say is that I was diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in 2012 and with this way of eating it’s been reversed. I did come across a presentation by one of the well-known LCHF experts (sorry, can’t remember who) who identified it as one of the benefits of low-carb healthy fat type diets.
    Good luck with it all.
    Jenny

So, it’s just popped into my head that as well as an American expert a while ago, I’d recently seen a you tube presentation by Dr David Unwin on low carb, healthy (high) fat diets and fatty liver disease. I’ll post it in the Take A Look at This thread.

Brilliant Jennie, thanku I will watch that

Thanks for asking M re my day, so far, I have not drank enough water. But on a good note have had 2 meals throughly enjoyed from recipes and just cooking the lentil and chicken curry for dinner. I am battling the desire to pick ( bad habit) at food when cooking , or just resting but so far haven’t succumbed!

    I was sabatoged before I got off on a roll….can’t believe it….
Ended up at our local A&E dept 8 hours last night. Had a badly infected finger a few weeks back that was dealt with via minor surgery and shed load of antibiotics- apparently my medication has hindered complete recovery so last night daughter number 1 insisted taking me to A&E. It’s a long time to sit n wait and be good so all that was available was a disgusting sandwich which I reluctantly ate a third of one half and a sugared coffee also disgusting…
Today I feel drained of all energy but managed to make a soup and will have the steak dinner. Am battling the strongest desire to EAT anything I can’t though….

1960smp – so sorry to hear that – A&E is no place for anyone to spend 8 hrs! Take it easy and hope you’re feeling better soon.
Btw, good on daughter number 1 for insisting.

On the plus side there was a very entertaining drunk which for half hour kept me distracted…
I am on azaithiaprine and prednisolone which are the drugs hindering recovery so my rheumatologist rang me today na d I am to half the doses over the next 2 days to see how I cope…

    O my!

Despite very good intentions to restart this WOE I ran into some health problems that had me floored and so now, am waiting on a fibroscan to determine what’s happening with my ‘fatty liver’ ,( only recently discovered following a blood test ) in addition, am just back from a eye hospital review because I ended up at their A/E dept last week due to sudden deterioration of eyesight and a headache from hell. Today am informed that I have def got macular edema in both eyes and am referred urgently to a diff dept so awaiting appointment for that.
    So,
    Confused.com here….
I believe I need to eat according to my liver now to help heal that FIRST and so this woe def comes into that category. Obv this will help with my eyes issue and glucose levels. I have been eating low carb and have halved my bgs levels already but I
I wondered if anyone else is in or has been in a similar position, with any help or advice?
    Thanks

hi 1960, not to give you medical advice but I suffered for years from a fatty liver and my triglycerides were always way above normal along with my cholesterol levels. After being on this diet my fatty liver is no more, my tri’s are well under as is my cholesterol which is down from 6 something to 4.
There is someone on here who was suffering from macular degeneration and severe circulatory problems due to diabetes. I think you might was to check out KrysiaD (or my memory is failing me) as she has reversed both conditions and put her diabetes into remission. In any case, a search of macular etc should find you something on this site. Obviously you will be under the care of a doctor and hope they do not discourage this way of eating. You seem as though you are still confident this plan will help. Good luck.

EDIT just searched Macular Degeneration and the first post it brings up is the one that should interest you, yes it was KrysiaD and I think she is still around.
