Morning all the sun is shining ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒž

Lovely to see all the positivesโค๏ธ

1 The sun is shining and the waning is drying nicely on the line.

2 I am trying TRE today for the first time in a week.

3 I have had the dogs out for a lovely walk in the woods, where it s cooler for them and me. Got a little out of breath but I know it is down to the cold and chest infection that has resulted from me being run down with the abscess! Not worried as I know I will get better and get back to fasting and cutting carbs.

Hope you all have a fantastic day. ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿฆœ

Good morning. Lovely to read all the positives and especially good to hear from you SunnyB, enjoy the rest of your trip.
Well, the last few days have been a little โ€˜messyโ€™ for me one way or another and Iโ€™m really busy at the moment. So my positives, itโ€™s good to be forced to sit down and remember the good stuff ……
    1. I have just had a lovely week with lots and lots of social events. Lovely to catch up with friends.
    2. Lots of socialising has led to lots of food! BUT the positive is that today is a new day so just need to have a portion controlled day.
    3. Away in a couple of days so I wonโ€™t be around much until the end of the month. Looking forward to some sunshine.
Iโ€™ll pop in as and when but we must always remember to stay positive no matter what life throws at us!

    Good morning! Positives for me:
    (a) lovely supper yesterday with both children coming over to toast my mother on her 88th; both on excellent form
    (b) main was rack of lamb, with roasted veg: rice on the table but did not eat any of that (tho we all had some sparking English rose and some red wine!)
    (c) although I have to shift a bit more tum before I can actually do up my new size 12 jeans, I do fit into my new M&S (high rise short style) size 12 knickers; full brief bloomers have served me well but nice to have a change!
I have also seen pics of Kafin’s lovely Albert and she has admired pics of my menagerie so that is another plus!
Hope everyone has a lovely day!

I pulled on a pair of jeans that I had not worn for a while today and they did feel a little less tight on the thighs. – Not a lot, just enough to be noticeable.
Which takes me one step nearer to my aim to buy a pair of chain saw trousers. (A pair of trousers to protect your legs when using a chain saw, not trousers with a built in chain saw……) The problem is they are designed for male shaped legs, not female thunder thighs.
Spent the day at a meeting which was very productive, and then had time to wander around a tourist attraction taking some photos to blog about before heading home.

I never knew you could get special chainsaw trousers – but sounds a wise investment if you’re wielding one! I’m sure that if the looser feeling is noticeable it counts as more than “not a lot”. BTW, did everyone see the very recent post from Frodo with news of his 4st discard in 3 months? Being off the forum obviously does not always equate to not following the WoE. I would love to know how Nee is doing, and Budgie and Owl, and CustardCrumble, amongst others!

It has been a rainy day so the afternoon was spent catching up with the ironing. I tried on a few dresses to wear to school and lots of my stuff looks a bit baggy and shapeless now so that will be my first positive. I ‘m some way off size 12 though 6T .I hope to be in the 11stone bracket soon .

I am getting through this first Week and Monday is Bank Holiday ( Whit Monday in France ) so next week will be a short week …second positive ๐Ÿ˜‰
I completed a 46 hour fast this Week and I will attempt another from tonight until Friday lunchtime.I am pleased that I managed to resume fasting after a break with no ill effects ..third positive ๐Ÿ˜‰

Skipping, do you use trusted house sitters (didn’t run together to avoid the web site appearing). We have had 8 sitters in 2 years and they have all been wonderful, some more so than others but never any problems. This couple spoke no English at all even though their profile was in perfect English and we conversed through a mobile phone app. I have nothing against foreigners and have welcomed New Zealanders, Aussies, Texan, Cezchs, Belgiums and Germans plus 2 lots from the UK. Seems these people (the Argentinians) thought they were doing me a favour looking after my pets, never mind that they were getting 3 weeks free holiday and a beautiful part of France, use of a pool (a bit cold) and run of the house. When we complained to THS they were useless and judged me by saying ‘we have checked your previous record and note you have always had good feedback and hope you continue to enjoy the use of this site’. It was not the fact that things had gone wrong but the couple scarpered as soon as we got home before we had a chance to check things out. Lesson learnt, do a walk around before you let the sitters leave. Shame some of that trust has been eroded. Sorry for the rant but, like you, we could have come home to no house.

Wendy, you are right. Three weeks since Sardinia, I have had a lovely break in Chepstow visiting relatives. Next week I fly to Ireland for my sisterโ€™s 50th.

You have had a hard time after your op, hope that any treatments allow you to travel. Sardinia is amazing and Alghero is very easy to negotiate as it is on level ground.

Birdy you are a great mum, you have a good lad who will do well. Well done on some very successful fasting. You are protecting your skin while losing a lot of weight.

Scottishgal, your ambition to reduce your hours is so close. Enjoy your free time!

    My positives are

1 I have had a lovely holiday getting to know the youngest one of the family.

    Good morning to all!
WOW WOW, just a touch of sun and a tiny bit of blue sky this morning โ€” I KNOW we are practically at the solstice but the weather didnโ€™t get the memo!
We had a lovely weekend adventure taking the train down to Weston Super Mare (it was pouring rain) and bundling up with our raincoats and heading out to the beachfront anyway which was adorable, so old-fashioned it reminded me of Santa Cruz (in California).
Donkey rides on the beach, piers full of games, a Ferris wheel and a big sandy beach โ€” really wonderful and we strolled in the rain for about two hours, but then…some blue sky and a touch of sun appeared!
We ended up with a mixed weather but perfect day โ€” a BSD-friendly chicken salad lunch outside (under an umbrella) all bundled up in our jackets. It wasnโ€™t summer but it was very nice and the minute the rain cleared a bit and the little patches of blue started showing, people appeared from everywhere! Within an hour the beachfront was full of families and folk walking, even some intrepid families out digging the soggy sand.
Thank you (I think it was Birdy) for the suggestion! It was a wonderful positive day!
We are using Saturdays for our โ€œadventure daysโ€ โ€” we went to Bradford-on-Avon last week and Salisbury the week before. We are using the train, which is easy and fun โ€” when we run out of towns nearby we will have to finally sort out the car question. But for now, no car is just fine.

    1. Today is my last CASA training class and will receive feedback on my trial court report and then next Tuesday we graduate. I’m proud of myself for getting through it, it’s been a lot of work and tough material to deal with
    2. I’m at 2.5 weeks of my latest restart and dancing around 175 which is where I got to in six weeks when I first started at 191, back in March. I know I need to hang in there and not get discouraged while my body catches up and does its next drop, so I am. I haven’t binged other than one desperate night when the inability to sleep just broke me, but two mini cheeses at 60cals each is a pretty minimal binge if it can even be called that so I think of it as a success.

Hi Everyone!!! With just two days until my one year anniversary of BSD Im feeling just tickety boo!!! Two obvious “crevasses” below my now jelly belly apron declare success every day. The wardrobe discard and smaller size replacements . . . all MUCH “cuter” and “chirpier” than previous choices confirms this to be not just an illusion! Cold weather has hit with vengeance and “diet” has needed to adapt quickly to satisfy . . . SO . . . today has been a bake/cooking day here in the WoodDuckie duckpond!
    1. A beautiful fillet of pork was roasted . . . Will have a couple of slices with vege for dinner.
    2. Cousin gave me a recipe sheet she found in the supermarket bread section! Zucchini and leek soup. OH MY! How delicious!!! I did small quantity just to try. A zucchini diced roughly, a leek sliced roughly with garlic and olive oil, chilli flakes – (I added a little garlic as well) – in a pan and saute till soft. Could even add ginger as an extra or alternative. When done, put in a bowl and blend . . . (recipe said with water . . . I used coconut milk and cannot tell you how good it was to have soup on a cold day!!!
    3. A batch of my mini quiche/pizza/pies are smelling delicious. (Muffin tin, line reservoirs with desired flavoured mince . . . shape into the mould with back of a spoon . Chop whatever is available . . . today mine have bacon, shallots, capsicum, broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms divided between . . . I also added a few frozen peas for colour ๐Ÿ™‚ Whip or whisk three eggs with a little milk, cream -(and garlic if you like it). Gently pour a portion into each one. Add a round of leek rings as a top. Then add fingertips grab of mozzarella cheese to each . . . I usually add dried chilli flakes sparingly. Today was a curry powder dusting! Oven bake for maybe 20-25 minutes. They also freeze well! Serve hot or cold with extra veg, salad, stirfry vege, cauli-rice, . . . whatever you choose.
    4. Diced chicken thighs with ginger, bokchoy and shallots happening tomorrow because Ive had enough cooking for one day!!!
    5. Within ten minutes, Ive had King Parrots, Rosellas and Bower birds in my garden for an afternoon drink ๐Ÿ™‚ Might be a cue for me to have a 66/33 water coffee with cinnamon, cream and just a touch of vanilla ๐Ÿ™‚
    HAPPY DAYS BSD’ers! Quack! Quack!

Good morning everyone and a special ‘hello’ and ‘happy birthday’ to WoodDuckie.
I am home, well for a few days, relaxed and ready to go after two weeks away. So my positives…..
    1. Only a 2lb gain in two weeks which I count as a real success.
    2. Still using Headspace everyday and I think that is part of the reason for my feeling of relaxation.
    3. Have been reading through my journal as my third BSD birthday approaches in early July and realise that I’m the same weight as I was this time last year. So I am counting that as a success, even though I still have more of 2018’s weight gain to lose.
I was reading an extract from the original ‘Fast Diet’ book that I’ve copied into my journal and I’d like to share it if you don’t mind. When talking about diet plans it says…..

“Any method must be rational, sustainable, flexible and feasible for the long haul….. It must fit into your LIFE AS IT IS, NOT THE LIFE OF YOUR DREAMS (my bold). It needs to go on holiday with you, it needs to visit friends, get you through a boring /challenging day…. and cope with Christmas”

This is something that maybe we all need to keep in mind. We aren’t perfect, nor are we the same or live the same lives, so let’s not be too hard on ourselves if we have the odd slip up. Life is for living now, but hopefully in the most healthy way we can each achieve.
    Have a good weekend!

An inspiring post Verano – Thank You!
    My positives for this week:
    1. I received my breath monitor, so that will help to keep me on track with ketosis.
    2. Had a good gym session, changing my exercise plan to one similar to that which JGwen did on her research project (with the OK our group’s trainer) – and hope to be able to keep going with it
    3. Navigated through a few meals out this week, making on-plan choices for the most part!!

Happy Winter/Summer Solstice everyone. A chilly 11deg C in Melbourne today.

I like that Verano. At 63 I am still trying to think that way.
Ouch, MerryMelba, that is cold for you guys. My Florida day will be in the high 90’s!

While away in Turkey, the Positives thread is pretty much the only one I’ve read each day and I’m thrilled to find so many people posting on it, continuing to inspire us all and keep us looking for positives no matter what.

V, thank you for that reminder about keeping it real and blending our approach to food with our life style. It’s a daunting task on occasions, but it’s a powerful thing to be mindful and in control, whilst also allow ourselves the latitude to be human.

Duckie … Congrats and happy birthday. I’m sure you will continue to tread the path and report further successes.

Okay, well it would be a shameful thing if I couldn’t find some positives right now, so they are as follow:
1 Another hot sunny day with blue skys and a light breeze
2 With all visitors now been and gone, OH and I have a couple of weeks left to enjoy time together, before we return to our usual UK routine.
3 Time to read and relax … Bliss!

Keep posting all those positives people!!

Hi Violinist! Im 75 in three months . . . around 5’2″ and quite chunky ๐Ÿ™‚ Always have been – (apart from depression around divorce, then a hysterectomy shortly after around 1980 . . . when a ? against anorexia appeared on my Doctor’s handwritten notes – (as they used to be!!!) YEARS of single mum, working several jobs – hormonal issues were considered for weight gain which started around late 40’s early 50’s – the time menopause WOULD have been occurring. Fast forward to the cuddly nanna years . . . and after a general blood test, a LARGE HbA1c sent the Docs surgery into meltdown . . . wondering how this walking timebomb could have been missed!!! As this revelation came hotly after removal of a large benign tumour, I thought maybe the hormonal balance may have been severely compromised, and asked for a referral to and endocrinologist. I began BSD through advice/hint/suggestion from a workmate of my youngest son . . . in a bid to reduce blood glucose . . . and avoid meds – three “tries” which had caused me serious grief . . . and with insulin injections (supposedly) now my only other option. I was stubbornly refusing any more meds until . . . the why had been investigated. Unsure what my starting weight was, but think it was around 91-2-3kg at doc’s surgery. The endocrinologist I asked to consult last September was amazed my HbA1c had reduced from 12.9 to 6.9 in just three months of BSD – (2th June!). He insisted on me not weighing . . . rather measuring ๐Ÿ™‚ and my girth reduced 11cms in four months – (October ’18 to early February ’19 at my follow up appointment). At the same time, my HbA1c had now reduced to 6.4. He set me the next target of another 10cms in six months – so July ’19, and wanted more exercise. Im on my way to that goal but somewhat slower. (Not the same scales) – weight is now around 81kg . . . and seems to have evened out. Im not setting goals . . . other than keep on track. Clothes have been my yardsick of weight discard which was an unexpected bonus. I have more energy, and am giving Zumba classes a chance to (maybe) provide the requested exercise. TBH . . .?
Image is not my driving force . . . just MAINTAINING the HbA1c under the radar is sufficient!!! And The Forum . . .? a wonderful eclectic mix of people with varying issues who have always answered my questions and provided comfort I was not alone with weird stuff happening as I progressed:) Thank you one and all for your contributions to my personal success . . . and please . . . not to be compared with anyone else’s achievements as we are ALL individual. Quack! Quack!
PS: I decided to do the chicken thighs with ginger, garlic, loads of rough cut veges for dinner – to save messing the kitchen AGAIN tomorrow and . . . it was just WONDERFUL!!! If I feel up to it and wake in time to make it happen . . . Zumba class is on in town tomorrow morning at 9.30 ๐Ÿ™‚

Just one positive today but it’s a big one for me – today I graduated from the CASA LA training program and was sworn in by a judge in the Children’s Court. I’ll receive the info on my first child sometime today so I can starting working on advocating for them. I’m scared of messing up their life since I only know how to raise a cat and he ended up with one eye missing. But in for a penny…
