Hello everyone, nice to hear about how you handle (mini-)goals. I think they can be very motivating as long as you don’t put a timescale on them. Regarding alcohol, I’ve actually quit drinking for the duration of the Fast800 phase, but I’m planning to keep my alcohol intake very limited from now on.

This is the first day of Week 10 for me and I managed to get just below 80kg at 79.8. My next mini-goal of 15% weight loss is in sight! I’ve also dropped a dress size or 2 (depending on the fit). Because I’m working from home I can manage with what I have. It’s particularly nice to see how some clothes are getting way too big for me.

Zuzuvela, I’ve quit alcohol for the first 8 week period too (tomorrow is 2 weeks since I started)- I figured for one, a glass of wine would take a big chunk out of daily food allowed!

Everyone, what’s the take on dark chocolate? I haven’t had any over my 1st 2 weeks on the diet, but I was juat wondering if it an absolute no no because there is some sugar in it or could it be an occasional treat?

Yes, Tulip1, that’s also my thinking about alcohol! I have a square of 85% Lindt chocolate every day or so – I plan my food intake in advance so it generally doesn’t take me over 800. I don’t really have cravings for chocolate at the moment but I enjoy it and it’s also good for you.

Yup, I fully intended having no alcohol during this period, and actually, usually i wouldnt even struggle, and it would make it all far easier, and keep me within calorie allowance…..but circumstances have lead me to accept that Saturdays i go over 800 calories and have a couple of glasses of wine with my dad. Certainly not ideal and not something i would recommend. But I’m not kidding myself and it is a choice not a need!
Dark chocolate – the higher % the better. I keep some 90% lindt in the house. But in all honesty I find it easier to have none than to have just one square. It is a very occasional treat and I have a few squares. Its a lesser of evils for me – if there are biscuits or something about and I’m really tempted then I’ll have dark choc instead. Its really interesting, before doing this WOE dark chocolate wasnt something I would touch – I was all about the dairymilk…… but cravings for that kind of chocolate have gone and I find i do like the dark stuff. Tastes have changed massively, cant even imagine eating a Crunchie or other favourite now!

Thank you both, I may have a little now and then in that case, if I have the calories x

    Hi all,
On the subject of alcohol, I have found that the non-alcoholic beer is great nowadays. Not the bland sort that was around when I was pregnant 14 years ago – now they are specially made and nice. Yes, they contain some calories and some carbs, but I figure that is better than letting the alcohol keep my liver busy breaking down the alcohol rather than converting fat to energy.
I do have the occasional glass of wine though – no replacement comes near in my view. But I can also skip this, not a big deal. Lite you WindyJulz – I find it is hardest to abstain when socialising (not that often these days..).
@tulip – dark chocolate is fine if you count it in your carbs/calories etc. Beware though that not all of us can handle the “taking just one or two squares” and that if it risks leading you into overindulging it may be better to leave it out. I do have some in the weekends – have a 90% kind now, that is quite impossible to eat a lot of. Doesn’t quite satisfy me either 😊, so the next one will be 85%.
Weight loss over the last week is 0, but I take that as a win since had a very hard week last week resulting in pizza -accident on Friday. Now back in track, had 18 hours overnight fast until lunch today. Seem to reset things. Lots of fluid going in and even more out!
    Have a great week!

yes, I think that as it is on my no go list it’s safer, but if I allow myself some….well, it could be a slippery slope!!!
