    Hello everyone,

I have just been diagnosed with T2 and am (re)starting the Fast800 tomorrow. Would anyone like to join me?

I first did the BSD around 18 months ago and successfully lost weight and felt great (after I got over the initial hunger). I did it purely for weight-loss, I wasn’t even pre-diabetic then but I had had – and beat – non-alcoholic liver disease. But I didn’t keep it up, went back to old ways, regained the weight and here I am: a full-fledged diabetic.

I feel motivated and daunted at the same time. My specialist, who I met for the first time today, has given me a (reluctant) green light to do this although she cautions against the risk of yo-yoing later on. She had not heard of the BSD but knows the Newcastle Study well and I think is curious to see how I get on, providing I manage to stick to the eight weeks. We have agreed to meet then to review my stats. She also wants me to start Metformin in tandem because of my history of non-diabetic metabolic syndrome. I’m have been fighting against the idea but am now okay with it as I’m positioning it as a short-term support tool in my mind. My liver disease is also back and I just had my kidneys tested today so they are tbc.

I know from last time how vital having a support network is for this programme so if anyone wants to join me on this journey they are most welcome.

I’m in my early 40s, female and living in Dubai. I have an A1 of 7.3 and fasting glucose of 7.5. (I can’t quite believe I’m now into the world of having to know these things.) Non meat and dairy eater but do eat fish. Non-smoker and rarely have alcohol. Have a young (rescue) husky cross who keeps me very active thankfully – 22k steps yesterday!

    Good luck to you all.

Hi Carb-addict, I remember you from before. Shame you have tipped into a full T2 but our bodies are so unpredictable. Your doctor seems to know what she is talking about given your history so the Metformin might not be a bad thing for you – at least it is not one of the big guns like glicazide or insulin. Give this your best shot and you will be putting a smile on your doctors face in 8 weeks and yours. There are plenty of newbies around if you browse the posts and I am sure you can be of help to them too having been here and done it. Good luck.

Hi Sunshine Girl. I remember you too! It’s been almost two years since I was last on the Forum – how are you getting on?

Thank you for the kind words. Am over the shock, mostly over the anger and now into Full Solution Mode. Am going to give the Fast800 my very best shot and see what happens. Will have a look at the other threads for support in the coming days.

Hope you are well and thanks for getting in contact!

    Hi Carb-Addict,

I’d love to join please! I’ve done a month of BSD a long time ago, lost a stone but then gave up, and put it back on and then some! I’ve been back on the BSD for about 5 days and have lost 5lbs which I’m happy with given that I had a pancake on Shrove Tuesday and allowed myself a carby meal on Valentine’s Day (which my boyfriend had planned before I decided to start the BSD again… don’t plan on regularly going off plan)

Looking forward to reading your progress 🙂
