Hi Imogen, thank you 🙂 That’s what I’ve been doing the last few days, taking it very easy, feels a bit alien to be honest. Not had the energy to concentrate on being online, talking, reading, cooking, thinking lol. Feeling sick. Falling asleep in the day – twice yesterday – and still going to bed and sleeping through to my alarm. My Mum phoned earlier and apparently my father has been the same for a few days too. Maybe there’s something going around.

I had my wedding outfit today. I opted for a size 20 only and it fits really nicely but I can also afford to lose some weight too. I knew I was a 24 in a dress previously. I know I’ve gone down to an 18 on my bottom half but that an 18 would NOT go over my boobs. So I figured that now I was in a non stretchy 20 top, that’s what I would order. And it was a good call. It’s not pretty or floaty or what I initially wanted but it’s smart, and I can wear it the following weekend to the end of season awards for my rugby team as well. Mum is babysitting and I’ve booked a room in the hotel that the awards are at, so I’m having an overnighter without children! And hunky rugby players! Not so much a dirty weekend as a mucky overnighter, but I’ll take it gratefully! Not so easy getting away without them all when there’s so many to look after!

Size 20 (non stretchy) is great news!!!. Nice to have an outfit that you know you can get some use from…I have had several ‘wedding’ outfits over the years that I have never gotten around to wearing again after the big event…so good call😊x

Delayed stress – treated by alcohol +
Various events with food all wrapped in pastry or in bread – with my lack of will

Inevitable upbump in weight and general hungry cravings for all things bready and carby.

Need to discipline myself like day 1 – but on day 1 excited motivation helps. Today I am just tired and grumpy, had a risotto ready meal still in freezer from before BSD, a weight watching one, so could be worse, and out to boring mtg tonight with work.

Tomorrow, tomorrow, I’ll BSD again tomorrow….

Well, you know it works Avila, we all do, so we’ve got the best tool available ready to deploy. For what it’s worth, from personal experience, I’m laying off the alcohol now, because it is a swine for putting weight on. Even a (for me) small amount of wine compared to what I used to sink has had shocking impact on the scales. And having to face the next day unable to rely on the old faithfuls like takeaway or bacon butties to help me feel human again.

The wedding is next Saturday, we go next Friday, day of recovery on Sunday and then back home on Monday. Not looking forward to the drive – and I’m saying that as the passenger! Looking forward to the wedding itself though, it’s going to be quite different to the norm, but very ‘them’ from the venue to the foods we’ll be eating. I won’t say anything about it now as it’s not my big day to tell about before the event, but I will tell you all about it next week 🙂 Mr Lucky has his new suit too, complete with waistcoat, he’s gone down two trouser sizes and two jacket sizes and a much smaller shirt neck size too. Just the boys to sort out next week.

We last saw them at the end of April, she came to give me my birthday present and we were meant to be climbing Snowdon that week but the weather put a stop to that. She does know we’ve been doing this diet though. But still think she’ll be pleasantly surprised. I have to read a poem in church, I wasn’t close enough distance wise practically to be a member of the wedding party, so she wanted to give me a ‘role’ in the day that didn’t involve numerous dress fittings. I would have been a nightmare thinking about it, wouldn’t I? 😉

Good morning all! Still not 100% but feeling ten times better than yesterday and a hundred times better than Wednesday! I think I may get a little housework done today, shock horror!

The weather is what some might call horrendous, it’s pouring with rain – absolutely thrashing it down, gloomy, dull, but – I love it. There’s a candle lit, the flames are on on the fire, a lamp, and everywhere looks really cosy. Food wise this can only mean one thing, you can keep your salads, I’m about to dust off the slow cooker and a beef and red wine casserole is going IN. I’m going to attempt dumplings made with spelt flour, just the one each for me and hubby, because I can’t think of eating it without potato or crusty bread or dumplings. Something 5 out of 6 of us will eat too, so only two meals I have to make today. And in other news…

I HIT MY THREE STONE WEIGHT LOSS TODAY!

    Yay me!

In other news, more of a word to the wise, when one has had… erm… the trots for the last two days, Vindaloo is never a good option for tea. Never. Under ANY circumstances. Where’s the Sudocrem… 🙁

Mmm that casserole sounds good! 🙂

Was thinking of you earlier today coz we went to Budgens in New Brighton..was a little disappointing coz its small..nothing like the big one i went to in London..but a few bargains to be had and some bits n bobs i havent seen in other supermarkets.
Cdnt find that low carb bread tho.
Had to resist some nice looking treats in the cake and bread dept!
My beau got some hummus, reduced to 28 p from £1.15 even tho it was still a week from the sellby date, and a few other bargains i cant remember now!
I got big pack of emery boards for a pound and an ipad screen protector and cleaning cloth, again a pound. Oh and six large free range eggs reduced to 75 p..sell by date 30 Sept
not a very exciting haul, but at least ive been now and able to report back..not really worth you visiting unless you want a day at the seaside at the same time.
The smell of fish n chips was tantalising as we strolled on the prom! Gahhhhhhhhh!
Have a lovely time this weekend..dont forget to let us have a pic of you and Mr Lucky x
Ps having a cuppa,i suddenly realised i’d been staring at elderly couple at next table..my eyes were going from their plates to their mouths and back again as he ate a scone, she devoured a slice of ginger cake….managed to pull myself together before they noticed! X

    Thank you lovely ladies 😀

The wedding is next Saturday, thankfully! Wouldn’t like to be out driving in this today! It’s blowing a hoolie and rainy. I love it when I’m inside but not when I’m in a car!

Yowzer, yes I had a giggle at that, I’ve done that myself so I can sympathise. You eat every mouthful with them, don’t you 🙂 I love getting a bargain in the supermarket, especially when there’s a decent sell by date on things. Not being funny, but a lot of the stuff that’s reduced for same day sale looks a bit ropey to say the least. I always look out for free range eggs too because they always have a week extra on anyway, don’t they? Asda are particularly good for that. I’m having fish and chips next week! That’s the wedding meal! And I am going to savour every single mouthful too.

Mixnmatch – horrendous. Just horrendous. Feel a lot better by tonight, think getting some fresh air (and a shower) did me the world of good too.

My son passed his resits, so on to Year 2 of Uni for him! Just secured him a room in halls from next Saturday. The daughter dragged Mr Lucky to town to buy a new dress for the wedding. And conned him into shoes too. Only shirts and ties for the boys and we’re done! Hopefully a week tonight we’ll be sat in our little cottage by this time, having our tea and pampering ourselves ready!

I know. I wasn’t expecting him to pass, to be honest. He wasn’t very confident, and one of the exams was a deal maker or breaker, no matter how well he did in the others, he had to pass this particular one with a certain percentage. My mum has just texted me saying how happy she was and asking if I thought him being back at home made the difference. She’s not too happy with him not living at home, but what can you do when they’re adults? So I told her, no, I think me having to shell out for five of the six text books he decided not to buy a month or so before his resits might made the difference. She didn’t know about that, and said he was naughty. Yes, yes he was! I know what I will and won’t make allowances for where his ASD is concerned, and I can’t condone him not buying them because they were ‘too expensive’, with a grant given to him expressly FOR things like expensive textbooks, when chances are he’s spending that much, if not more, on a night out. And nights out now aren’t like our old nights out, last orders at half eleven, and you could go out with twenty quid, get rip roaring drunk, have fish and chips on the way home and still end up a tenner’s worth of pound coins the next day 😉 They’re getting tanked up first in their halls, going out about ten or eleven at night (who even does that?), drinking shots and all manner of expensive crap, nightclubs, takeaways and rolling in at five in the morning. That has to cost a pretty penny. He basically drank his textbooks. So he received a word that rhymes with rollocking from me. And if he does this again next year? He is in for it. He’s done it with his AS levels, his A levels, his year in between in college to make up his UCAS points, he ruined our holiday last year trying to find out his results and get him on a course, from DEVON, and he’s done it now with his first year of Uni.

I AM turning into my mother. I am.

Quote du jour… Yowzer ‘She had the cutest little goatee beard.’

Yes, nothing I’ve heard today tops that 🙂

I read something once about this Yowzer, don’t ask me where, but it was along the lines of, you know how these people, these thin people, they almost affirm it to themselves. The ones who say ‘I can eat anything I want and never put an ounce on’? And it’s a concrete belief. So they don’t put weight on. Don’t know if there’s any validity in it, you have to believe what you’re saying I suppose, and if we said it, well… we wouldn’t believe it because we have evidence to the contrary!

Eeeek, turning into my mother is my biggest fear…well one of them😂

I understand completely about the need for separating out those issues arising from the ASD and plain ‘naughty’ behaviour! As you say he is an adult and will need to take responsibility for his choices…

We love our children and it is hard to not bail them out when they run into difficulties though, especially when to do nothing may impact their education or future plans. Your investment in those books has built a bridge back to University, and your ermm ‘ full and frank discussion’ about his priorities may give him chance to consider his future…tough love…

How things have changed – am sure I never gave my mother a moment’s anxiety😉!!

I don’t mind turning into my mother, she’s great, I’m very lucky there. It’s just that I still think of myself as being a lot younger than 40, and think (keyword there is think) that I have such a young outlook on life and that I’m down with the kids… Am I bloody hell. I don’t understand them, I don’t know why they don’t listen to common sense, and yes, I am turning into my mother. And I don’t care. I understand her. And I was unreasonably cross when our car came back from the garage after its MOT and the radio was tuned from Radio 2 to Radio 1. I turned to Mr Lucky and said ‘Get this rubbish off! Put Jeremy Vine on!’ We both tutted as if surveying wilted kale (Eps, where ARE you?) at the audacity of the mechanic retuning the radio. Radio 2? When does this happen to people? It was so gradual, I didn’t even notice it?

Yes, you’re right there. If I hadn’t worded the little chat I had in the right way, because you know how Aspies can answer you literally (to the point of steam coming out of your ears…) then I wouldn’t have been any the wiser about the textbooks, he’d never have told me of his own accord, and the resits would have gone the same way as the original exams!

I was a horror teen. An absolute shocker. So anything I go through as a parent is well deserved payback 😉

    Hi Lucky
Woo Hoo – three stone! Brilliant – and congratulations to your son on his results.
My friends’ son did first year retakes earlier this year – and in the build up through his final term she had lots of “I don’t like it/ I don’t want to be at uni/I want to be at a different uni/on a different course’ – all disappeared into the ether once he knew he’d passed!

    I skipped radio 2 & discovered radio 4.
I remember being both horrified & finding it hysterical when my sister said she preferred radio 2 to radio 1 – and that she really didn’t care what was number one either. It’s quite nice having a sister that is ten years older – good wind ups!

Hehe! Re turning into yr mum! I have the very odd sensation now of looking in the mirror and seeing MY DAD staring back at me! YIKES!?.
oh i was a teen horror too LUCKY..aside from NOT getting pregnant i was always in trouble for something or other.including going to court for drinking underage..aged 16.. We were stupid enough to be glugging down a bottle of wine outside the policestation..and good enough to put the empty bottle in the bin in the street, before staggering into the youth club..
we were dancing like maniacs when the police came in and sent us home to tell our mums we wd be going to court..a policeman had recognised my friend, and gone round to ask her mum how old we were…then he went to get the empty bottle from the bin for his evidence!
We got fined £2 and 6 months probation!
Weird tho..eight years later, aged 24, we were in the pub next door to that police station one lunchtime having a drink..the landlord threw us out coz he didnt believe we were eighteen!
Funny old world isnt it! X
But Lucky i think its good to have a misspent youth..coz if our own teen kids go a bit mental,we can recall that we did,but turned out good in the end !x

Thanks Frog 🙂 I’m chuffed to bits – with both!

I wouldn’t have known anything like that from him, he’s so introverted, which is frustrating because I am approachable, pretty liberal compared to a lot of parents, and if it’s something so, so bad, I might blow a gasket, but at least they all know I will have a rant and then roll up my sleeves and sort the mess out as best I can. But he deliberately lied about how things had gone, so I was completely unprepared for his later confession, via my ex husband of all people, which made me look like a crap uninterested parent… Any time you ask him anything, he acts like it’s classified information and he’s so cagey. He wasn’t so bloody cagey earlier this afternoon though was he? When he needed a guarantor, £250 and my bloody credit card to secure his room for the next ten months? Git.

I couldn’t tell you a number one from this year. I know Bieber has had about seventy. Couldn’t name one of them though. That’s it. I’m done for. I AM the older sister. There IS nobody to wind up 🙁

Oh my God, Yowzer, that’s priceless! Imagine taking you to court for it, looking at what some of these children get away with these days, without so much as a slapped wrist! Times have changed, and I’m not so sure for the better!

Absolutely spot on. I’ve turned out ok considering the absolute mare of a teen I was. Looking at a few school friends who carried on down the wrong path, it really is a case of ‘there but for the grace of God’, a lot of hard drugs, alcohol, children taken into care, it’s very sad. I’d like to think that I was sensible enough not to have gone that far, but who could ever say for sure? They were sensible and really clever girls too, from good families, so it blows stereotypes out of the water. It really can happen to anyone. So yes, whatever stunts my children pull, I always have a root around in the recesses to see if a) I’ve done it myself or b) if it’s a stunt I would have pulled myself if I thought I’d have got away with it. Chances are it’s a yes to either a) or b). And if so, then I have to suck it up 🙂

    I don’t think I could cope with a beard…

It looks really nice, the place we’re staying 🙂 It’s just a shame it’s so far away and for such a short time. But it’s going to be lovely to see my friends get married. Can’t wait!

    Morning all!

Thanks Jan, glad your wedding went well too, and yes, it is lovely to fit into smaller clothes! Without seeing my dress, my daughter bought a dress in the same material but in a different shade of purple, so we’ll complement each other too 🙂 Hers however is a size 10 to my 20… Mr Lucky looks really smart in his new suit too, he looked like he’d borrowed his old ones! Even if he’d wanted to, he couldn’t have worn them. So he’s actually smaller now than when WE got married. A bit wrinklier and ‘tinsel’ haired as he calls it. I, however, despite being pregnant at the time (and no guys, it wasn’t a shotgun wedding… we’d been engaged over two years 😉 ) am not. Grrrrr.

Thank you Antigone 🙂 Ah, it’s a bugger isn’t it when things throw you off course. And you’re right, we do see now exactly what the bad stuff is doing to us, but I think it’s amplified now because we’re not eating it regularly any more. If that makes sense. I doubt that it would have put so much weight on us almost instantly in the past, but it’s because we’re not eating it any more. The way I look at it now is that this WOE is going to be for life, yes I’ve done well losing three stone but still, I need to lose a further 5 – 6 stone, so I’m not even halfway. And even when I get there, it’s not going to be the end of the story, it will never be the end otherwise all that weight is going to go straight back on! It’s inevitible that it will be done with little blips in between. With Christmas in between. With the occasional party or meal out or takeaway where I’ll want to eat rice, or chips, or have a drink. And I’m going to. Most of us will. We’re only human after all. But it’s not the blips we should focus on, as long as they are the exception and not the rule.

Christmas is going to be fun and games though. We’re going to have to make sure that the damage is minimal. I’ll stress to everyone not to buy me or Mr Lucky chocolates. There will be no big tubs of chocolates bought for the house this year. And I need to devise a BSD friendlier Christmas pudding with almond flour and coconut sugar. That’s just off the top of my head.

Morning Gavin, and well done, what a great weight loss for your first 8 weeks 🙂 What are the plans now?

    Have a great Saturday everyone!

Morning Lucky and Jan – planning Christmas already Lucky – scary!
I will have a comparatively tiny piece, and I won’t do my usual sampling of Christmas pudding the moment they appear in the shops, and I might even have it with yogurt, but I will not compromise on having proper Christmas pudding!

What dress size to get to to be the same as when you married Lucky (but hopefully not pregnant! – or is that a new target too?)

Despite a bit of a midnight binge (cheese then Jelly with a spoon of the almond soy yogurt), I lost a further 0.5 kg yesterday
I think I’d maybe cutting calories too low – as the binge was cheese (and not even very nice cheese it has to be said), carbs still under 30g.
And – the sugar free jelly with a splodge of the almond soy yogurt is like having your sixth birthday party all over again – well, except no rabbit jelly mould! And only having the Froglet to party with at 1am.

so – three days of reboot BSD, 1.6 kilos
    day 1 – Lost 0.4 kilos
    day 2 – Lost 0.7 kilos
    day 3 – Lost 0.5 kilos

When I entered today’s weight into FatSecret this morning, I got an error confirmation message saying something like “that’s a lot of weight to loose in a week, are you sure you’ve entered it correctly?”
