Thanks TOKYO! Lookin forward to hearing yr results on Thurs! Well done, you must be so excited!
My one and a half stone loss in 3 weeks..usually takes 11-12 weeks to lose this much, then promptly put it back on,coz i wd have diet fatigue by then and slide into the Slippers of Despair. This time will be different( she says hopefully!)
Actually BSDis easier than i wd ever have guessed. X -
Lucky!!! 8 weeks woooooooooo👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽👯👯💐💐💐💐💐🐣
The chick is for the new you emerging 😂😂 though the old one is great too. Massive congratulations and here’s to the next 7!!
Your blog will be so useful, when I finally start the cooking again. Think the porridge bread was a gateway slice..had brown bread in a restaurant last night and rivita this morning noooooo have to sit myself down and have a good reminder of what I’m doing. We ve got weddings to go to!!😳🤓😝😻
Yowzer that’s fabulous weight loss in 3 weeks – go you!!💐💐
-
Thanks Yowzer 🙂 And thanks for clarifying that I can do it again, I didn’t think I’d read anything warning not to repeat the cycle specifically, but you wouldn’t believe how quickly I read the book through as I was so desperate to get started on it! I retained the info I needed but very little else. Others read the book carefully, digested it, planned their first week… I read it Friday night, decided I was doing it, and was in Morrisons at 8 am the next morning buying food 🙂 For someone so meticulous and ordered, that was really spontaneous of me, thinking about it…
You’re not kidding Tokyo! Mr Lucky has reached his 2 stone loss today too, and boy is he looking good for it. And considering he doesn’t move much, he’s done fantastic really, so it’s not dependent on movement either, although as this week for me proves, it certainly helps! The cape of smugness is firmly wrapped around my shoulders today, I shall be gliding through my housework, I tell thee! And yes, you are allowed, you’ve earned it my lovely!
Have a fabby day everyone 😀 Keep those successes coming, big or small. Nah, they’re all big 🙂 Woooooooohoooooooooo!
-
Hi Yowzer & Lucky – & huge congratulations to both of you – that’s amazing
– & I was pleased to finally be well below 92kg this morning (been hovering around that for ages) 90.4kg – so 12kg in ten weeks
– and having still lost yesterday, I will now admit to having the chocolate pot for desert last night, and two glasses of wine. -
I can understand the desire to continue Lucky and aim for the wedding.
Thanks Yowser49 for the clarification. I had read that somewhere that somebody had carried on again on the 8’week plan.
Personally, whilst I can cope with 800 calories a day, I will go to the 5:2 BSD until I reach goal. It will just mean I will be able to have a few nuts or fruit etc.. I imagine the weight loss will still be decent although I don’t expect it to be as dramatic as the 800 calories a day. I also think my body will benefit from the extra calories especially as my exercise levels should improve as I get lighter.
It will be interesting to see how my weight loss compares to the 800 cal plan when I’m on the 5:2. Especially with Lucky who has a similar amount of weight to lose as me.
Tomorrow is 3 weeks into the 800 BSD 🙂 Can’t believe 3 weeks have gone so quickly.
Frog – we are all human 🙂
-
Thanks Eps! Especially for the chick, chicks are cute! 😀
I’m trying your porridge bread, hopefully today if I get my work done in time! I forgot the natural yogurt. I wasn’t sure if I could use greek, but I tell you, do you know how hard it is to buy natural yogurt? Not 0% natural, not low fat natural, not set natural yogurt, just natural yogurt? Not easy in these parts! And not bloody cheap either! For future reference, can i sub greek for natural in baking?
Yes, come on girlie, head in the game, we’ve got floaty dreamy dresses to buy! On that note, I’ve found mine – I think. I don’t think butterfly dress will look right even by then. I will post a picture to my blog later of dress I’m thinking of and you can all give me your verdict on it. Only problem now is I don’t know what size to buy. Ah BSD problems, sigh.. .;-)
Gavin, that sounds like a plan, whatever is going to be right for one, won’t be right for another. This is suiting me at the moment, but that could all change in a heartbeat. I know my husband, for example, he could probably do with a few extra calories a day, it doesn’t seem right that he’s living on the same as me, he’s taller and only about a stone heavier than me. I’m going to ask him if he wants extra calories, before imposing another 8 weeks on him.
Frog, that’s fabulous! That’s nearly 2 stone if I’m right? Brain doesn’t work in kilos lol. Ah you’ve deserved it and you’re on week 10 so… 😉
-
LUCKY I was same as you..i still haven’t read the book properly..in too much haste to get going!… but i deffo read somewhere that you can do 24 weeks if you still have weight to lose, not sure if its in the book ..might ve been on t’internet..,then i joined here and saw that some folks were doing longer and thriving.
Keep gliding ! I feel like i’m gliding around on castors !😻😻😻Congrats FROG! X
GAVIN i love 5:2 but have had weeks where ive overeaten on nonfast days,so it can be trickyx
-
oo yes I just used greek yoghurt because it was what was in the fridge! I’d say it wouldnt make any difference as long as some kind of yoghurt (without any rubbish in it) :-))
-
Lucky , i have just quickly scanned the book pg 146 talks about what to do when you hit 8 weeks didnt read it tho as on way out laters!!
-
Huge congrats to Lucky, Lucky’s OH, Yowser and Frog. Those are all amazing results. I am also on my second 8 week stint and I think it is fine to do. Like you Lucky I find the 800 calories enough for me for now. I have had the odd wobble but have to say I feel best on the days when I stick to the plan.
Onwards and downwards!! Have a fab Friday all. xx
-
Yowser and lucky, Bril work and yes I will join the I’ve lost a pound group today, great work for completing your first round lucky.
Gavin, check out captain Lynne’s threads she has lost 80 lbs doing the 800 and she feels amazing, we could be eating 1500 cals 800 good and 700 crap what’s the point, I want to loose my weight fast and get it done by Xmas, I know I feel well and long as I do my strength exercises I know I will continue to burn fat and not muscle. This way of eating reversed my S.L.E. Symptoms, so as far as I am concerned it’s all good, once I have burnt of all the fat then I will go to a higher cal then, not before, not unless I am feeling symptoms.
What I believe we need to look out for is breathlessness, hair loss, urine output reduction, inability to sleep, and any other unusual symptoms. But we are not drugging ourselves this is a normal diet, if we are hungry I have found its because I haven’t gone for satiating food, but you learn what’s good, on hungry days. You can also email the team for advice, but check out Lynne’s thread.
Happy minds BSD peeps🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅 -
GAVIN further to what JAN said..here is link to Maintenance thread.
( sorry that didnt work!) if you put Maintenance in the Search box,you will get it x
LUCKY Sorry i didnt include yr OH in my congratulations..you two are magnificent! You both smashed it,crashed it,took the joint and trashed it! X 😍😍😍 -
Aaaaaaaaaargh I should have asked first, shouldn’t I Eps? I kind of thought it would but didn’t want to assume. Ah well, never mind, it will all go – and has saved my Greek for dessert!
Thanks Tokyo, I’ve just read that bit now. From what I can see, it doesn’t say you should continue, but it doesn’t say you shouldn’t either. I think everyone has to take it from their own individual point of view, whether you’re coping on it, whether you feel it’s enough calories for your lifestyle, what you’re burning by way of exercise etc. When he mentions going to the 5:2 Gavin though, he says 800 calories for the two days, so that in itself makes the prospect of 5:2 much more appealling for me in time, maybe it will for you too? 600 calorie days would be a nightmare. I think I said previously I did a five week on a ADF programme, and it was heaven/hell. And the hell days were 500 calorie hell. I was worried about the BSD for that reason, but it’s amazing what a difference the extra 300 calories makes to a day.
Thanks Irish Girl 🙂 I’m surprised how full I’m becoming so easily, I am eating mindfully, I’m not on the computer or watching TV, I’m putting my knife and fork down between bites, and chewing what I’ve got in my gob rather than getting the next mouthful ready! I think I’ll join you in a second stint 😉
Well done Jan, you too can have a cup of hurrah with us. I didn’t know about those symptoms (damn, I really do need to READ this book don’t I?) but glad to say that I don’t have any of those symptoms. I’m less breathless if anything, and I am sleeping better than I have done in years. Unbroken sleep. Apart from when the neighbours perform.
Ah that’s ok Yowzer, he’s not here with us to be offended 🙂 I do pass on all your good wishes and congrats to him whenever he gets them here though. He may join us here soon, if I can surgically remove him from Facebook that is. He’s a proper little social butterfly. And I think we need some more men. Especially now that Timmy has gone on holiday and poor Gavin is left solo to put up with us. Bwahahahaha. Sorry Gavin, it can get… hormonal at times. But hopefully funny with it.
Rightttttt have you seen the time????? Onwards! Meatballs are up on the blog, too! Hopefully Eps’s bread and corned beef hash too later! Turnips! They’re the future! I tell you now! Famous last words…
-
Lucky the symptoms I mentioned to look for are not from the BSD book, they general medical guidelines, but I am following captainlynnes example 80lbs in 30 weeks, so that’s what I am aiming for but I have /had 104 to give to the fat pixies, and have lost 26lbs in 37 days, and feel like 19 again so as long as I feel like that I will keep going.
Keep up your new motivation, it will pay dividends by the wedding, I’ve also got a wedding big Norfolk affair on 3 Sep so hoping to surprise them all. We are all so fortunate to have this plan, and all the kind people behind it.🙋🙋🙋
-
Pots of hurrah and capes of smugness all round this Friday! Well done all!
I’m beyond the 8 week mark now and I keep to the BSD principles but am more relaxed about the calorie count (usually 1100 to 1500 per day) and I have to tell you THE WEIGHT IS STILL COMING OFF. I keep away from the carbs as much as possible but 8 weeks ‘re education’ of my body means it tells me pdq if it doesn’t want me to eat or drink something! Plus of course I’m not hungry so I don’t overeat or snack like the bad old days. It’s a lifestyle game changer and it’s here long term folks! -
See what you said Janey is exactly what I want! Me too, me tooo!!!! :-)) I’m not putting on weight but not losing it as quickly as I was in the 8 weeks – and it goes up and down by small amounts. Must be something to do with carbs… will have to keep a better eye on them – sneaking in through Rivita they are…. 😉
-
Lucky
Captainlynne has been eating this way for over 30 weeks, I myself have just finished 19 with no harmful effects.
I no longer take any diabetes, blood pressure or cholesterol medications, and have lost 46lbs. -
My wedding is in Norfolk too Jan, but two weeks later! Never been before, and really looking forward to it.
Well, I’ve had a semi-productive day… Porridge Bread is *jazz hands* awesome! And it tastes like a savoury bread and so filling! Eps you little starlet for finding that recipe 😀 Corned beef hash is made, proper comfort food, and cabbage is cooked. So that’s tonight’s tea with a slice of the bread to mop up the juices, I won’t want to eat for another week. Garden has been pruned and de-ivyed, and swept up, and thoroughly tidied for our visitors and downstairs has been cleaned. Bathroom cleaned. Need to do a blog post now, first time I’ve sat all day!
That’s a fantastic loss Kathy 🙂 Well done, and well done for getting off the medication too! And it’s good to hear other people have done it successfully long term. That’s my plan too, for the next 8 weeks (except for the day of the wedding) and I will reassess my next step from there whether I do another cycle or go 5:2. I am taking an ‘if it ain’t broke’ approach to this at the moment, I don’t see the point in shoving nearly double the amount of calories down my throat, if I don’t want them or need them. If I do need them, then I can be a little bit easier on myself. But for the now anyway, I’m happy with 800.
Right – Bread blog post awaits! Hope everyone has had a lovely, productive and successful eating Friday so far!
-
Brilliant work Kathy.
Delighted for you, brilliant motivation, how much more do you plan to loose, I’m looking out for the peeps that will still be on this by Xmas, as I plan to get it all done by then. But I bet you are really chuffed to bits.
Love jan
-
Crikey Kathy that’s an average of 2.42lbs a day Wowser, big respect, you must be very low on your carbs all the time, give us some more details, that’s amazing. Cor can’t get over that. I thought my average daily loss 0.7 lbs was good, but that wow.
Don’t blink and Kathys gone.😀😀😀 -
Lucky
Are you putting the porridge bread on your blog, and if so how do we get into it as I can’t find the link you sent.🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉 need porridge bread -
Yeah it’s up 🙂 http://luckymanekibsd.blogspot.co.uk/
-
woooowww ha ha Lucky, that’s great! Yours looks really tasty on the blog yuuuuum! Don’t forget though… gateway slice…. ;-0000 That’s probably just me though as I love porridge oats… and bread. It’s sooo delicious with butter and a poached egg btw… YUM! I could eat your meatballs now too, they look great. Am having courgetti and bolognese sauce for dinner so that’ll have to do me.
A very productive day so far you’ve had – blog posts and all!!! Is there any way to comment on the blog or is that asking for trouble from randomers like us :-))
Looking forward to seeing the dress!
-
Thanks Eps! 😀 I disabled the comments on the site, don’t know why, I’ll add the comment form back in later, keep checking. Want to change the colours and fonts and everything too, make it easier on the eye. And the dress, yes! Did you use the treacle in yours? Yes I’ve been a busy, busy bee today! Hubby just gone to pick the girl up and go to Matalan to find jeans that fit him. His fell down as he stood up the other day despite being belted up. I’m at the ‘eat my arm’ stage so I hope he hurries up. Oooooooh poached egg with it sounds lovely, might make that for a brunch tomorrow 🙂 Do you have it toasted or just as bread? I’m going to make one of these to go camping too, I have a feeling it’s going to be a lifesaver! How easy is it to make though? Literally 5 minutes to make and an hour to bake. I’m going to have a crack at some sort of bap or roll too, don’t know whether to try the Hemsley ones again, now I have cider vinegar in? Would be great with bacon of a morning, or with a burger on for tea. Hmmmmm. Will have to have a kitchen weekend I think!
-
Watching Pointless celebrities and Michael Mosley is on there.
-
Yes it’s sooo easy! I had mine toasted – goes kind of nutty, delicious. I left out the treacle too. Yes I have eaten it on two picnics so far and is very handy when other people are gobbling sandwiches. Just probably not two slices unless you are not planning on eating much else for the rest of the day ;-))
oooo jeans of the present shopping for Mr Lucky!! Hee hee, he’ll probably come home with a few nice shirts too – I know him 😉
-
Lucky,
fantastic result in your first round…congratulations…💐🏆🎶🎵🎶 👏good luck for the next eight weeks. It is amazing how time flies!!! -
LUCKY just come in so havent caught up but my eye was caught by corned beef hash and cabbage! Ohhh fabulous!
Dont forget to put yr dress on the blog! If you have time. Maybe you already have…i’ m only just home so havent seen..been to the park and watched a wedding! Was envious of the champers with strawberries in..and the nibbles everyone was tucking into!
Ps further to something you said somewhere today…i’m sleeping better too..ive had long periods of insomnia and on medication for awful nightmares ! ( i know!😱😱) DD has them too…an M.E.symptom!…
makes us a …erm.well a nightmare really ….to spend the night with!DD shouting in her sleeep,me often roaming about sleepless! Since bsd and taking magnesium and calcium at night,i sleep quite well and have more like bad or very busy dreams. X -
Fab, poached egg on toast it is tomorrow! I’ve just had a slice now with my corned beef hash and cabbage, ye Gods I am absolutely stuffed. That is going to be a fab dish for a cold winters night. Didn’t miss the potato in it but goodness those turnips take some bloody cooking.
Yes, he found some nice jeans, and returned shirtless! Not physically, that would be weird, but you know… shoppingly? I couldn’t believe it! He’s terrible for clothes shopping, it’s a good job I’m not! But he has gained a whole wardrobe yesterday. Lost half a wardrobe too, I’ve never seen him so willing to part with clothes before!
-
Woo hoo it’s gherkin time🍆🍆🍆
-
Thanks Imogen 🙂 How are you doing? I am raring to go for the next cycle now! It’s amazing how time flies isn’t it?
It was good Yowzer, and I’d imagine it will taste even better on a cold winter’s evening! I feel ridiculously full though, and I left some too. I need to hunt a pic of my dress down from the website, I haven’t ordered it yet. I’m going to wait a couple of weeks until I do that. Usually if I leave it in my basket and close the site down without ordering they send me an email with a discount code or free delivery 😉 Crafty so and so I am! But, every little helps! I want as much weight off as possible before I buy it. That’s great that your nightmares are lessening 🙂 I really do sleep like a baby now, and fantastic sound sleep ratio too. I’ve had what I can only call patchy sleep for years and years now. I’ve also found that I’m no longer flagging around 3pm and falling asleep in my chair! Maybe that helps my overall sleep too!
-
I couldn’t even manage a baby gherkin at the moment Jan, am stuffed! 🙂
-
Great reading so many positive achievements and weight losses!
Am getting ready to go away for a week a sort of last minute .com as we hadn’t planned to but seemed a good idea a couple weeks back. 😳 I have planned some of my foods into this week as we will be cooking ourselves so that’s good and hoping not to fall too far back after doing good this past week.
Today has been hard tho……I mean, I have seriously wanted anything Carby and really had to control getting out of hand. Am like , where that come from!!!!! Go back lol
Lucky , corned beef hash sounds perfect! Do you have recipe ?
Loving your blog too….I have discovered a true love for rhubarb too and would never have said before BSD I LOVE it with Greek yoghurt more than with anything else… Totally changed there.
Well folks I have enjoyed some lovely low carb food this past week and drunk litres and litres of water so hoping weigh in tomorrow will be kind to me….
-
Hey Smp 🙂 I’m doing the post now, be about 5 minutes or so. Don’t be too excited though, it was nice, very nice indeed, but I don’t think it translates into the recipe nor the picture *sobs*. It’s one of those things, you either like it or the concept makes you go ‘What the HELL’? It’ll definitely be made in the Winter though! It was a bit carby really looking at the info now in MFP… ooops.
How far in are you to be on a carb craving? Sorry if I already know this, I lose track, so many people 🙂
-
It’s ok Lucky. Am nearly at the end of week 2. First week was really trial and error
The carb crave has sort of disappeared as the afternoon wore on.
In fact I have just enjoyed a portion of rhubarb crisp which was lush…. -
Evening all, just eaten my ‘curry’ – not enough spices for real flavour but enjoyed all the same. Just something I quickly threw together when I got in from work.
I’m impressed with the weight loses, well done to you all, means there’s hope for me if I stick to it. 🙂
Lucky – loving the recipes 🙂
-
Rhubarb Crisp???
-
Ah that’s why then, don’t worry. Just push through the next week and I’m 99% sure it will be plain sailing from then on in! I love rhubarb but nobody else does in the house 🙁 Save me some dessert please, Smp 🙂
Evening Tigger 🙂 Well, if I can do it, anyone can. There’s hope for us all on this, I think! Awww thanks, it’s just a way of keeping track, I know everything isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but there’s so many recipes out there that could make our lives easier (specifically bread!) but it’s going to take some doing finding something that’s passable. The butternut bread was nice, but sweet. Cakey texture, but not the right sweet to be a cake either, if that makes sense. The oat bread was proper savoury. And one slice was ample, as it was so filling.
Hi Josie, long time 🙂 Everything going ok?
-
Lucky, if I made the bread I’d have to slice and freeze it straight away! Wonder what it would taste like with peanut butter on? The corn beef hash looks nice to, not tried turnip before but may well try it this weekend – I’ll have all Sunday to cook the turnip 😀
-
Rhubarb crisp is on alldayodreamaboutfood website
I play with amounts to suit me lol
Delicious tho -
I froze the butternut immediately, I want to keep two slices of this out for brunch tomorrow to toast. I’d imagine it’s lovely with PB but that will have to wait for another day!!
I’d start it off Saturday night to be on safe side, give it a couple of hours before bed 😉😂👍🏻
-
Been off looking at the alldayodreamaboutfood web site – garam masala aubergine chips caught my eye as they sound yummy 🙂
-
All day have been dropping my phone trying to use it to pace steps so my lovely husband is insisting I get one of those band things he said, oh really I said I heard the jawbone is good so he’s looking it up then he says ooh they do everything . you need as much help as you can get do you want the up 3 ooh lovely I said so it’s getting ordered, will be cheaper than a broken phone not sure whether that’s critisicism or not anyway of for a walk🏃🏃🏃
-
The Up 3??? Will we mere Up 2 mortals be good enough for you to fraternise with then, Jan? 😉 And most importantly, is hubby treating you to it??? Nice one, you deserve it. We can battle then! I think I’m currently getting beaten by Tokyo but my heels are hurting so I don’t care.
You need as much help as you can get? 😮 I’ve divorced men for less, Jan, honestly…
Enjoy your walk 🙂
Garam Masala Aubergine chips??? Chips? CHIPS????
-
Hiya Lucky all is well, don’t weigh until tomorrow so that will be the end of week 9 for me and i am still enjoying a different way of eating. I have always eaten the right things full fat yogurt veg etc but along side of that all the starches that we are now avoiding, this is the longest i have loosely kept to a diet and currently not finding it too difficult. A sort of Moussaka for tea various layers of peppers spinach and aubergine with a topping of ricotta and greek yogurt and creme fraiche with some grated cheese. Have had my daughter and grandchildren staying for a week so have been following the threads as and when.
I spoke to the diabetic nurse as the medication was making me feel unwell she has changed it for me, but said as i had lost a lot of weight i could re introduce some of the foods bread etc, i am convinced the world is going/gone mad. If she thinks i have gone without red wine for 9 weeks to lose weight and lower my blood sugars to start again she is mistaken. It sounds like S W to me 3 forward and 2 back all of the time. So still 17 1/2 lbs off for me.
-
Lucky – thnk it’s an American site, especially as it was called egg plant, so probably we’d class them as crisps 😀
Basically thinly sliced aubergine, sprinkled with salt and left for 30 minutes to get rid of some of the moisture, then brushed with an oil and garam marsala mix then baked until crisp. Think I’d eat the whole lot which is probably not the right thing to do. Trying to paste the link – http://alldayidreamaboutfood.com/2011/08/garam-masala-eggplant-chips-with-cilantro-mint-raita.html
-
Glad all is ok with you, and hope you’ve been having a nice week with your family 🙂
I remember you asking weeks ago if it was making anyone really tired, yes. Glad she has changed it. Has it made a difference or is it too soon to tell yet? That’s absolutely nuts, so the nurse is telling you to start eating the way you used to eat, that made your bloody sugars high in the first place…? There needs to be a big re-education. I’ve not touched red wine for the whole 8 weeks and I think 2 weeks prior to starting as well. I have got a bottle to go camping with though… I usually go through at least a couple of boxes… so this should be fun. I might not even have any, I’m a bit wary to be honest. It’s been on my table now, looking at me, for the last two nights – which in my previous life would have been unheard of. Would have been down the hatch the same night. I’m like a completely new woman!
-
what about the peanut butter fudge brownies that looks lush
-
i know exactly what you mean about the wine always had a glass most nights at weekends 2 maybe 3 glasses, we go to France on holiday so have that to face yet.
