Hello, along with my diabetic husband, I’m going to start the 8 weeks of 800 next Wednesday, after my sister’s 50th birthday celebrations. Quite excited but very apprehensive.
We’re busy packing up/clearing out the carbs from the cupboards & will make a shopping list for our first week on the plan which will include some bathroom scales.
Do you have any advice, hints or tips for someone new to this kind of diet?

Hi Legend2vc – welcome to the forum and your new way of eating. Sounds like you have a plan of action, which is a great start. My advice is before starting, weigh and measure yourself and record the results; weigh, measure and record everything you are consuming; hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

Look out for the non-scales victories, as well as the weight loss victories and try not to compare your results to those of others, as that can get disheartening if things get tough. Our bodies are all unique and will lose weight at differing rates, but on the 800 we all get there, providing we stick with it and keep the faith.

Make good use of the forum – you can use the search box at the top of the page, to look for posts on specific topics. However, if you can’t find an answer, shout out and someone will respond. We’re a friendly bunch and you’ll be welcome on any of the threads. There is always a four week challenge running and there is an 800 Reboot thread going and I’m sure you’d be welcome if you want to join either or both. This is a great place to vent when things get tough or to celebrate when things are going well. You’ll always find some support, encouragement, wisdom or cheering as appropriate.

Best wishes for achieving your goals – keep us posted.

    Thank you,
2 days in and my head is full of meal plans, weights and calorie counts but my body is already 3lb lighter, and most exciting, my husband’s fasted blood sugar has gone down from 9.7 to 5.3 (although the 9.7 was post a slice of birthday cake).
The only thing I’m confused with is the calorie counts in the blood sugar diet book, I know product nutrition varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and veg weights vary but my ‘actual’ calorie count is vastly different to those in the book.
I’ve made a spreadsheet of the ingredients I’ve used and am balancing around the 800 mark, meal planning & calorie counting the night before then adjusting with actual weights as I prepare it. It seems to be working.
Next step will be to start some strength exercises too.
