I’ve been on 800 for 4 weeks. Last week I didn’t lose a thing. Today I had my first large glass of wine, just one, which I followed with 3 crispy duck pancakes and chop suey. Oops! I need some encouragement. I genuinely have stuck to the recipes.

Hello Baziboo – well done on completing four weeks on the BSD 800. You didn’t mention what weight you have discarded in that time, but I’m sure you have seen some positive progress. Don’t waste time beating yourself up about what’s happened today – we’re all human and these things happen. It is a waste of energy to stress about it and can only have a negative impact on your mindset. Nothing can be done about what has happened, what matters is what you do going forward.

If you get straight back to the full on BSD 800, you will most likely find the impact of your digression today will be minimal. Stalls and plateau are very common in week 3/4 and is just due to the body adjusting to the new regime. If you find nothing is happening in the next week, I suggest taking a look at your daily carb intake and maybe adjust the level down a bit to encourage things to move again. Most see progress at around 50g carbs per day, but some of us have to push much lower to see consistent movement on the scales.

Please consider joining other threads on the forum, especially the One Week at a Time thread, which renews each week. It’s populated by people at various stages along the BSD path, so there is a load of knowledge and support to be drawn on and you will definitely be warmly welcomed. The current weekly thread will finish on Tuesday this week, but don’t let that put you off posting now so that you get to ‘know’ a few of the folks there.

Hopefully you will be inspired to continue with the 800 and I hope to see you out and about on the forum. Best wishes to you for achieving your goals.

    SunnyB,

Thank you for taking such a long time to reply to my post and send me encouragement. I have decided to make February a fresh start. I’m out with friends for a wine tasting and meal tonight, and I’m back on the 800 the day after.
I’ve lost 8lbs so far. I’m determined to shed another stone. I’ve got a medical issue at present that is impacting my thyroxine production, so that’s an important driver for me. I hope the fresh start means my body will adjust quickly, and I’ll be tee-total again. I stopped drinking in October and November; I was careful over Christmas and have not drunk for four weeks until this week. So I have will power. Your kind encouragement is much welcomed and I’ll take a look at your suggested I run.

    Many thanks! Baziboo

Hi there Bazziboo! Congratulations and well done for recognising and sharing what are MASSIVE achievements. I totally echo EVERYTHING SunnyB has written. Such wisdom, positivity, encouragement, advice there and support. When alcohol is part of your life – discarding or cutting down is so difficult . . . because it usually represents socialising, happy times, relaxing – being included . . . , all kinds of things we respond to in a being included and accepted mindset 🙂 BUT it is OK to be included with a glass of mineral water, decorated with an umbrella, slice of fruit, vege, a dozen colored straws and diamonds on the bottom of the glass and call it a MMBSC – (A Michael Mosely Blood Sugar Cocktail/Concoction!!!) or Triple B maybe . . .? – (BazziBooBeverage!!!) or any other name you can have fun with 🙂 Someone MIGHT ask to try it . . . but then what are the odds? And if it happens, then that can be YOUR joke! You might actually start a trend because . . .? Thats how they start!!! Woohoo! Whistle is blowing as the train leaves the station. Toot Toot as those on the roadtrip start up their engines for the day ahead 🙂
