    Hi all,

I’ve started BSD today, feeling motivated but would really like a ‘buddy’ or two (or more!) to keep the momentum up and help each other. Anyone up for it?

Hi, I’ll join you if that’s ok. Had a three week go of this last year and felt great (see my previous thread) but life got in the way. On day 3 and doing really well but am a tad peckish this afternoon… determined to last the full 8 weeks.

That’s great! I weighed in at 13st 12 this morning 😳😱, I’ve just been away and ate and drank toooooo much (all delicious of course 😋 )however at 5 7” I need to shed the excess. Let’s stay in touch amazingwoman!

I started at 15 1.6 on Friday. This morning I was 14 12!! I’m 5’4″ so basically completely circular. But less circular than on Friday.

    My top tips would be:
Find what works for you. People enjoy different things – I’m extremely boring with what I eat but ritual helps me.

Be realistic – if you’ve had a long day at work are you really going to prep something complicated? Are you really going to fancy limp old lettuce from the back of the fridge?

Be kind to yourself – up the self care while you do this. Pamper yourself and be gentle with yourself.

Welcome, Kal! We 5’7″ women are somewhat unusual 🙂 I’m the same height as you, and
have used this way of life to go from 20st5lbs to 9st12lbs, all but 8 lbs over the period
of 10 months. I’ve been maintaining that loss for 13 months, and the very best tip I can
share with you is the importance of counting carbs. They lurk everywhere, and fruit can
be a shocker. Most of us who have been wildly successful here have discovered that a
small amount of berries is what we restrict ourselves to, and a banana and an apple can
take you to 42g a day! Join any thread that appeals to you, and you will be made to feel
very welcome. There is a great deal of experience and knowledge on established threads,
and a generosity of spirit as well. I highly recommend either the weekly or 4 week challenges
to meet a cross section of BSDers at all stages of the journey. Hope to see you there!
    Very best to you,

    Allie

Wise words indeed! I’m always tempted by the wine…..then the crisps very quickly follow, I have no ‘stop valve’ with crisps! Stay in touch, always better doing with a buddy! Thank you! 😀

Kal, I can really relate to the wine and crisps! Crusty bread, cheese and wine were my
nemesis, too 🙂 I had to bid them all farewell to accomplish my goals, and even today
I stay clear of that temptation, with the exception of occasional wine on the weekends
now that I’m in maintenance. It gets easier with time, I promise!

Thank you! I need to get used to counting carbs, something I’ve never done! I’m normally a fruit fiend so will have to seriously stop that. As long as I plan, I’ll be ok.
    Really nice to have support.

Woke up really hungry this morning, currently sat down to a lovely bowl of full fat yougurt ( something I’d never eat due to being high fat) nuts and berries, it’s delicious 😋

Day two all planned, re reading the books too for added motivation.

    Hi all!

I’m new here, first post and first day today. Just tucking into my asparagus halloumi and spinach salad, it’s delicious!

My nemesis is eating all the crisps in the cupboard that I pretend I’m buying for the children as a treat… I can eat so many packets in a sitting it’s disgusting. So this is my new found strength. I need to lose around 2 stone so am really really hoping I can stick to this.

Love this forum, so much helpful advice!

I only started yesterday so also a newbie, so far so good and I’ve had some lovely food. I need to shed almost 2 stones so I’m with you all the way.

Stay in touch and let’s do this together!

    Hi everybody
Started yesterday after coming back from holiday feeling fat and flabby. Hurrah to Amazon for delivering me the books ready for my first day . Well as there was little to eat in the house till I did my big shop I had to mix and match from the first week, but good news I am all provisioned up now. Personal best for my first day, not eating any chips from husbands plate as we ate out in the supermarket last night, and I had a chicken salad not fish and chips. So as I say not able to follow the diet to the letter yesterday but I made better choices. Going to give green tea a try today.
    Good luck to all

Another good day here. About to have supper – pesto roasted chicken and veg. Have made a portion for lunch tomorrow too.

Morning all, day 4 and going really well.

Love the food I’m eating, I do feel hungry at times but in a weird way I’m embracing it as I’ve never really felt it before as I am a ‘grazer’ or another way ‘always stuffing my face’!

I’ve set myself a goal of one week initially as 8 weeks seems daunting. Slightly worried about the coming week end as I’m partial to a gin or two but that quickly followed by crisps. BUT I will not crumble!

Hope you are all ok and on it!

    Morning Kay.

Day 3 for me today. Just had a massive struggle with my nutribullet lid that was stuck so tight on my green tea and blueberry smoothie! Finally managed it though and probably used a few extra calories trying to get the damn thing open!

I’ve have 2 really good days with delicious food. Looking forward to hummos at lunch and harissa chicken tonight. But last night I really was so hungry! Just hoping today won’t feel so hungry.

Also looking forward to not having to think about food all the time! It’s kinda taken over my life recently, previously for the bingeing on rubbish, and now on the meal planning!

Off for a long walk later, and the sun is out again, yay!

Good luck today, what’s on your menu?

Sounds like you’re doing really well! I laughed at the Nutri bullet fiasco! My food today, full fat yougurt, berries and nuts, Greek salad for lunch, that was really delicious and mushroom/cheese omelette for supper as I’m going out so food has to be quick today. I’ve purchased a book called ‘Slimspirstion’ on Amazon, it’s a must have on the diet the recipes are fabulous and family friendly. Can’t wait to try them.

    Keep on it folks

I had the vegetable frittata last night shared with husband, I could hardly eat it all. Tonight I’m having cauliflower rice with smoked haddock. Felt very tired yesterday evening, so went to bed early with I pad reading things on the forum. Some people have done really really well and it’s great to read about their progress. .i find the worst bit is drinking the water, but trying hard to get into the habit . I have mixed and matched the meals as somethings I just don’t eat, but all in all I’m sure I’m eating a LOT less than I was when on my holiday ! . The three stone I want to lose have crept up silently, my ignoring the electronic bathroom scales every day all part of not wanting to know. Well after coming home from holiday and after feeling miserable I did face the scales. So now I know what I have to do and so here I am. I won’t get weighed until Monday, but I will be positive and will be working for a good result.
    Have a good folks!

Well done kal and the amazing shrinking woman. It’s my first week weigh in tomorrow morning, so as soon as I have taken the dog out at 5.30 am I will take off all my clothes and brave the scales. I know have not eaten the exact diet for 7 days but I’m eating a lot less. A good result will certainly make it easier to resist carbs tomorrow at the BBQ

Well I can’t believe it, just weighed now and in my first week I have lost 10 lb. I am shocked and stunned. This will make it easier to stick to my diet at the bbq today. 4 thousand steps done after dog walk, the red sun quite magnificent this morning. Onwards and downwards! I know this big loss won’t be continued but if I can lose a pound a week I’ll be looking and feeling so much better for my holiday in September.

Keep up the good work everybody

I’m so pleased with us all! Zinny, that’s fabulous! I did eat a bit more yesterday, shared a delicious cheese scone and butter with hubby and two slimline G&T’s, I did cycle for 12 miles too so I guess that’s ok.

Back on it today, are you all still motivated? My only gripe is the amount of time I’m spending in the kitchen, I’m forever cooking! Saying that we had M&S skinny burgers last night, the were lovely with bbq sauce from Inspirational cook book. Any favourite recipes ladies?

No it won’t hurt but I’m trying hard to give up the car by stuff and sweet things so it will give me the taste then I fall.
So as the old phrase goes just say no.
