I’m now 3 weeks into the BSD. Have to admit I’ve really struggled to eat a lot of the foods listed in the book but have adapted the diet to suit me whilst still remaining low carb. My ideal weight is apparently 12st 7 and at the start of this I weighed in at a hefty 19st 7. I lost 10lbs after week 1, 5lbs after week 2 and now another 10lbs at week 3. Usually I would say that is great but a bit confused about some of the sudden weight loss. During week 3 I weighed myself on Wednesday and I had lost 2lbs, by Friday another 1lbs so 3 in total but by official weigh in day on Monday I had somehow lost another 7 pounds taking it to 10lbs in a week. Ordinary I would put this down to a great week and great progress but unsure how I suddenly lost half a stone in 3 days when still eating the same as I had previously. Does anyone know if there could be some explanation for this?.

Hi Stuart, our bodies are a mystery and can go up and down with a glass of water. Sometimes when you have been strict and had good losses your body can hang on to its resources the following week and give a very disappointing loss. Then it can catch up again giving good losses. I hope you dont mind me saying but you do have a lot to lose so you must be doing really well and shedding as would be expected. It will slow down unless you are seriously undereating. What are your calories and carbs per day. BTW if you dont like some of the food then swap it out although it is good to follow the suggestions to start with until you get used to what is what and how it affects you. Eat what you enjoy or you wont stick to it, as long as you avoid the obvious white, starchy carbs.

You dont say if you have any particular problems healthwise. Just keep doing what you have been, it will slow down.
