    Good evening!

I do have some positives …..

💉🩺💉 Eye appointment yesterday just involved drops and scans which took about 30 minutes unlike my last appointment that was nearly three hours!!!

🥦🫒🫑 Lovely lunch out at a very nice French restaurant with friends we met on a cruise 6 years ago. Haven’t seen them in a while so it was really good to catch up. The food was great too!

💅💅 Pedicure tomorrow. My nails are in a mess after 4 weeks so really looking forward to having nice toes again …. if she can rescue one big toe nail that’s in bits!

Hope you have some positives. They really aren’t that hard to find!

    Positives from this week!

OH saw the consultant this week, Mr Tumour is still growing slowly but not causing any problems so far, and he has started some pill based chemo to try to slow it further. So far so good!! Five years from diagnosis next April, hope for many more years yet.

I have had a (stress related) week back drinking the wine, but not put any weight back on at least 😀back to hard core 800 next week from Monday.

Mum managed to get down to Cornwall today despite a vehicle fire on the M5 briefly interrupting her journey, lovely to see her.

Thank you for rolling us on to page 127 of Positive Thoughts, V … so heartening to see that people still have some good things to post. Glad your eye appointment went well and you had a lovely meal catching up with friends.
Mixnmatch, lovely to have you posting here and so glad your medical situation remains stable. Enjoy your mum’s visit and don’t stress too much about hitting the 800 while she’s there.

My positives are quite lightweight, but here goes …
🥐🍳 breakfast with old friends yesterday, only the 2nd time we’ve managed to spend any real time with them since we got here, so a few hours very well spent
🧥🙂 bought myself a lovely new black jacket, reminiscent of the Chanel style, to wear on cooler evenings here
💕👫 date night tonight, but instead of me cooking, we’re going to one of our favourite restaurants

Please take a minute to post a positive or two, just taking a moment to identify them is good, but by sharing them you spread the positivity.

Hi all, good to hear your positives V, mixnmatch and SunnyB. Mine are not exciting to life is calm and happy.

So number one, life is calm and happy.
Dentist said no treatment except a light clean and have to drop off my denture the day before the cleaning appt so she can clean that too – just the top one.
Booked our table at the quiz night on Halloween and decided to dress up. I have a long black dress which I am going to decorate with spiders and cobwebs from the local pound shop.

Have a great weekend and don’t forget to put the clocks back. Another positive, an extra hour in bed.

S-g a ‘calm and happy’ life is all any of us can ask for. Enjoy!

Sunny keep enjoying your time away.

It would be very easy to say ‘nothing positive here’ with the start of the long dark nights but yes there is a positive……

🌝🌞🌝 Just 8 weeks before the shortest day then the days start to get longer!

🥂🎂🍾 Just over seven weeks to my next birthday. I’ve taken a leaf out of sunshine-girls book and have decided on a goal, 1.3lbs per week loss until my birthday. I’m sure that’s doable!

🌶️🥦🧄 Friends joining us for dinner tonight. My shout so pretty low carb!

Hope your weekend has been enjoyable.

Oh Verano, I love the winter! It is so quiet and everything is resting until spring and we can rest too. The darkness is like a soft cloak and I love to light the fire and make food as the day draws down. You can sleep longer and wake later — so lovely!
I like to wear heavy wool socks and my wellies and a hat and go out in the rain and walk. All the trees are bare and the evening light coming through them is so beautiful. And after a late, late afternoon walk, you can go in the warm house and put on leggings and a sweater and just settle in for the night.

    Hi there, positives

Bought some ants, yes ants, meant to be spiders but when I looked closely they are ants – these are now sewn on my black bolero jacket and
bought a pointy witches hat which I have decorated with more ants and some bats.
Weight is nice and steady and still hoping for more loss by Thursday so I don’t have to worry about any small gain.

Julia what a wonderful picture you paint! Enjoy your winter!

Unfortunately winter for me is the worst time of the year. I use crutches so fallen leaves on wet ground just doesn’t work for me but I can still enjoy the ‘outside’ by looking into my garden out of my huge picture windows! So not all is lost especially as I have quite a few acers which are amazing couloirs at the moment.

Anyway not to be downbeat ….

🌶️🥥🥦 Lovely Thai salmon curry last night with friends. I have tenderstem broccoli instead of rice. Not sure I would enjoy rice now although on the very odd occasion I do have a few pieces of sushi.

That is the sum total of my ‘positives’ at the moment. Hope others can report some positives to uplift us all.

Just one positive for me today, although the day is still young….

.🗑️🧹💅 today I cleared out my make-up draw and my nick-nack draw. At last I’ve got rid of all those perfume testers, hotel shampoos, old nail polishes and I filled a waste paper basket full of useless odds and ends! Job well done and now I have space for my new lotions and potions!

    Have a good day.

CG, that is a very romantic description of winter, sadly I struggle with the cold grey days and hate being cold, so find it hard to be positive about the wintertime. … enjoy though.
Ants or spiders, sounds like you are really embracing Halloween, SG.
Well done on the clear out, V. It feels good to get rid of old unused clutter doesn’t it.

Positives from me today are …
👭🙂 pleasant morning out with a friend, a little bit of retail therapy and coffee
🧺🧺 laundry up to date … dries so quickly here at the moment too
🌅🌅 glorious sunset this evening, beautiful golds and pinks.

💉🩺💉 Eye test showed no problems from the medication I take so good news.

🌶️🫑🧄 Thai meal out tonight which is lovely. I will do my very best to stay on track.

🥑🫒🥦 Found some new soup recipes today but need to work out the carb content before I start cooking. Must look back at the soup thread!

So my positive for today, which is a huge one for me …..
🥦⚖️🌶️ I’m back to weighing and recording everything I eat. It’s only day1 but it feels so good to be in ‘control’ again.

Hope there are some other positives out there. A small ‘gain’ in any aspect of life is a positive. Negatives seem to rise to the surface so easily yet we struggle to find positives!

Firstly, a big thank you to Verano for continuing to beat the positives drum. You are right V, it’s always easier to find the negatives than positives, so we all need to make the effort to grasp the positives. And as you say they don’t need to be anything huge, even the simplest plus point can raise the spirits.
Pootle, I love a hat … I’m guessing you do too. Hope your new hat brings you much pleasure. Will look forward to more positives from you in the days to come.

    Positives from me are ….
👫👫 very much enjoying time with friends visiting from the UK. It’s wonderful introducing them to places we love.
🌞🌞 still plenty of sunshine and warm days here.

    Today’s positives:
Another hat arrived in the post!!!! A surprise from hubby.
The 1st is a turquoise blue Trilby, very bright and stylish…looks like I am going to the races!!! For everyday use (when I am feeling flamboyant 😂). Today’s 🎩 is a black version, to go with my winter coat! (Which I have just managed to fit again after 3 years! 😁)
The 2nd is I have finally found where one of my hens is laying. (Under the hedge, instead of in the nesting box) 🐔🥚. So 🍳for breakfast tomorrow! (She has been laying out for 4 days!!)

Love your hen story Pootle and the hats. I was put off hats when I bought a red one while in London many many years ago. When I got home Mum said something really nasty about it so I have never worn one since. Still, it did look out of place in the slums of Leeds as opposed to when I wore it in Carnaby Street 🙂

    Positive –
No more dentist for one year (unless there is a problem)
No medical appt this month at all – then wait for December when they are lined up
Just glad to be alive, here in France, happy and peaceful.

    My positives…..

⚖️🥦🫑 Only on day three but have had small losses on first two days. Just ‘listening’ to my body at the moment and eating when hungry. Just two meals today. See what tomorrow brings!

📞👩🏻📞 Had conversations with two friends today who are having difficulties with spouses being ill. Thankful that, fingers crossed, all is well here!

Chateau where we are having our Christmas Lunch are going to cater for my diet, so I can relax and enjoy.
Bought Christmas jumper No.2 in medium but had to exchange for a large – I forget French women are quite petite so their sizings are slightly out.
I am now spending quiet time until the 2nd week in December when I have 3 medical appts in the space of 2 days. Just enjoying having nothing to do.

🍷 Stress & Wine: It’s been a stressful week, so I’ve turned to a bit of wine for comfort—but the good news is, I haven’t gained any weight! 😅 I’m back to my hardcore 800 plan starting Monday—time to get back on track!

🌊 Mum’s Journey: Despite a vehicle fire on the M5 trying to throw a wrench in her plans, Mum made it down to Cornwall safely today! So glad to see her—quality time is always a blessing. 💕

🫑🥦🌶️ Made my first casserole of the winter today. I’ve made enough to freeze at least 3 or 4 extra portions. Now it really does feel like ‘winter’!

All my positives seem to involve food or maybe just ‘socialising’

🥬🫒🍅 Invited a couple of people for lunch a week on Sunday. Now we are 10! At least I’m in control of the menu so lots of salads and fish, salmon and also sole goujons for those who want them. Anyway always good to have company to share a meal with.

Warm welcome to flickertrend and pootle, always good to have new people posting here and thank you to SG and V for your efforts to keep the thread live. Anyway, let’s see what positives I can offer up this time…
🚘💥 SIL’s car skidded on a muddy road and crashed into a ditch … the positive is that he’s injuries were minor and no-one else was involved
👭☕ lovely morning out with my neighbour, browsing shops and drinking coffee
👠👠 bought a lovely pair of sparkly black shoes … couldn’t resist 🤭

There is always a positive to be found, it’s just that sometimes we just need to look a little harder.

Decided to go ahead and buy a dress I absolutely love. Decided to get the bigger size so as not to pressure myself. Then found they don’t deliver to France. Why is that a positive – because it stops me from dithering between will I buy or wont I buy. There will be others.
Beautiful full moon tonight – so big and silver.
Parcel finally delivered that courier told me my address doesn’t exist so I have had a bit of a battle with them. Well they have delivered now so what have they to say to that – reported them to Amazon.

Not very exciting but the dress and the parcel have both been causing me to feel stressed so now I can relax.

    My positives for today…
    1. Having tried several times, only for it to ‘time out’, I have finally managed to download a major update for my computer! Yay! (our broadband is exceptionally slow) 💻
    2. Managed to print the tickets for a local event! 🎟️
    3. Packed away all my (GB) size 20 and 22 clothes…unpacked all my size 14 and 16 clothes that have been stored since 2021/2. 👗

Pootle what a brilliant positive. I don’t even think about my smaller sizes … maybe next year!

Sunny sorry to hear about SIL’s crash but glad all was well. I think it’s so important to take time away from tech. I feel like I’m like a mouse on a wheel at the moment. Note to self … have some restraint and take time away from the keyboard!

S-g maybe you could have the dress delivered to your daughter just before you come over then you would still have time to return it if it didn’t suit?

    So to my positive …..

🌨️⛄️🌨️ We have snow! It seems very early this year and it’s really only on the trees and grass the pathways loom quite clear. Good excuse for making soup!

Sure I’ll have more later but just one for now.

Hi all, Verano, great minds, I did a massive casserole but just the beef, onions and garlic (always garlic) and split it into 5 portions. Had one on the day, one last Sunday and 3 more waiting. I just add whatever I feel like or have in the fridge, so peppers, carrots etc.

    Nothing exciting from me but….

Put the dress in my box on Debenhams site ready to click when it gets nearer the time.
Wrapped my lemon trees in fluffy stuff (forget the name of it) to keep them nice and warm.
Had bio oil in my box for Amazon. the UK site to build up a basket for delivery to daughters then saw they had reduced the price from £23 to £14 but had to order quick as it was a Black Friday price. Clicked on Prime and got a free week. So my oil is on its way.

I just have one positive that is so ‘POSITIVE’. Years and years ago I used a cleaning product that I’d forgotten about until very recently. I am absolutely ‘Astonished’ by the results I have. Sparkling stainless steel, wonderfully clean glass oven door. Have to say lots of elbow grease but such satisfying results!

Yes I know having just one positive, which is housework related, is really sad but you know it made me so ‘happy’ so I’m going to take it as a positive.

Had Meatloaf stuffed with hard boiled eggs for supper yesterday…served with spinach and mashed cauliflower! Delicious.

    Hello,

Where has all the time gone?

I hadn’t realised it was so long since I last posted. I have had positives but just not time to write them here. I think I’m just panicking a bit about the forthcoming festivities. Suddenly our entertaining calendar has burgeoned. Starting on the 15th we have lunch for 6, then dinner for 10 on the 22nd, lunch for 5 on the 25th and lunch for 6 on the 26th. Phew I’m exhausted just thinking about it., especially when I have to take into account those that don’t eat this or that!

    On the positive side….

🥕🍋🧅 I have three online orders organised. Menus written, all meat ordered and fish in the freezer. Just need to rewrite my menus to make sure I’ve not missed anything from my shopping lists.

🧘🏻🧘🏻🧘🏻 Just organising some relaxation for the new year. I do have regular pedicures but I’m adding massage in the New Year and I have renewed my Headspace subscription. All ready to go ‘healthily’ into 2025.

🛫🛳️🏖️ While talking about 2025 I’ve just about finished organising three trips away. We are getting to the point now when travelling will become too difficult physically so trying to fit in all we can ‘just in case’!

Hope you have some positives. Please help to keep this thread alive if you have.

Hi Verano, yes time does flash by. I actually envy you all the organising as we have NOTHING to do except get ourselves over to England. We don’t even buy presents anymore. The kids just want cash and we are not up to date enough to actually buy them something. My positives today are

I also have a monthly (7 weekly) pedicure – paid for my the French health system, and daughter has organised a massage for when we are over.
She has had a look at my 2 identical dresses and says they are lovely and really good quality – she wants to try them on but is scared they wont fit her. She is about 5kgs heavier than me but is 6″ taller.
As I said in our monthly thread, our local supermarket has a spend €80 and get back €80 in vouchers. So setting the alarm for an early shop tomorrow.

I know everyone is busy at this time of year but try and pop in and say hello on here and have a good week.

I know we will both enjoy our varying holidays and actually I’m looking forward to ours in a strange sort of way. Despite mobility issues making everything harder we will soldier on through and enjoy!

    So I’m here….

🥦🥬🍅 So lunch today was a success, eggs and salad with low carb bread.

🥣🥣🥣 Dinner just didn’t feel like cooking. Looked at several ‘delivering’ services and didn’t really fancy a take-away. So…. cooked salmon fillets with cauliflower/celeriac mash peas and sprouts. It was lovely! Saved me from myself!

Winding down now. Hope today has been positive for you..

We will have to swap places V, but I am sure you enjoy all you do. I am just so busy with medical appts. 3 last week and another 3 this coming week, then one final one the week after. Then that is me finished for the year.

Out early to the supermarket and gained my €80 of money off vouchers plus a loyalty voucher of €9.00. The cupboards and freezer are now full but I am sure I can find something to spend €20 next week and 20 the week after.
Weight is right back down to 70.8kgs and hoping for a bit more before our first Christmas lunch on 13th.
Not so good that we will not be going to the Fete at the Chateau as the weather is terrible. On the positive side, it is not as bad as the UK and it has saved me from myself with temptations of the snack carts and mulled wine.

Starting to feel more relaxed and will feel even better after Monday (MRI and then lung doctor).

Nearly forgot – we won €5.10c on the Euromillions. Yeahhhhhh.

Pootle hope you have power or if not hope it’s on soon!

It’s been a quiet weekend here … calm before the storm!

👧👦🏻🧑‍🦳 Have reconfirmed my guests for the 22nd and all is well.

💅💅💅 Not hands but feet! Had a lovely pedicure yesterday and decided on bare nails for a couple of weeks. Think my nails will appreciate a couple of weeks to ‘breath’.

🥩🥧🍗 Freezers, yes plural, filled to overflowing so starting tonight to ‘eating from the freezer’. I realise that I’m getting caught up in the ‘holiday madness’. Bought mince pies for guests with more on order …. I don’t need them really because I don’t eat them and don’t need the temptation! So will cancel them.

🧘🏻‍♂️🧘🏻‍♂️🧘🏻‍♂️ Today has been a really ‘laid back’ day. Caught up with ‘Wolf Hall’, last episode tonight! Some say it’s boring. I’ve really enjoyed it.

    OK that’s me done.
Let’s hope the coming week has positives. When things are fraught or tough it’s always good to find just one positive each day. I’m sure we can do that if we try.

    My positives for today…
    1. I married a man who can! 😁

We have been told that the electricity is unlikely to be restored for a week or more 😩 BUT husband has rooted out the old generator, given it some tlc and it is now powering the freezers (snap Verano…freezers plural, that are crammed full) and lights.
He took his 50 year old Chainsaw (long story) 🙈and cleared a way out, so he could get fuel for the generator and saw. Logs 🪵 created are ready to split and stack. Also, he found the ancient camping gas stove with a full bottle so we are now “cooking on gas”! 😂😁 (I did make jumbo oat porridge on the wood burner this morning!)
So we will be fine without the mains, 🤞🤞 at least it means I won’t be able to get the vacuum cleaner out for a while! 😉(2nd positive)

My main positives for today are …
✈✈ rather turbulent flight home on Saturday and a very bumpy landing in the high winds, but down safely and very grateful
🤗🤗 couple of nights with my folks, who are well and enjoying life. Glad to say they have agreed to come to us for the festive season, so will see them again soon.

Welcome home Sunny! Just unfortunate that you picked the worst day of the year to fly back! At least you’re still here to tell the tale.

Pootle … well done you. We all need ‘a man who can’!. Hope you are back ‘normal’ soon.

Really only one positive for me today. We have two sun tubes in our kitchen and today the ‘roof parts’ were replaced… let there be light… and there is! Can’t believe how ‘dark’ my kitchen was before. So for me it’s like having a ‘sun light’!

I really only need that positive.

Have a good and positive weekend.

    Good evening!

So I just have one positive….

🧁🍰🍮 this afternoon we were invited to a ‘mince pie’ party. Actually it was a drinks party with ‘CAKE’! I sat with a plate of ‘cakes’, mince pies, chocolate ganache type cake, Christmas cake, eclairs, lemon cake etc, etc. in front of me and I just had half a piece of the chocolate ganache cake … it was too rich for me! Who would have thought! Yes I did have a couple of glasses of dry white but as far as I was concerned it was definitely a ‘win’.

So ‘round 1’ of the Christmas food ‘merry-go-round’ well and truly negotiated!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Best positive for a long time is the news from Pootle. We believe in what we are doing and will never stop trying to convince others of the success of this plan. You are our new ambassador for reversing diabetes.

    Positives for me
Negotiated a Christmas lunch with absolutely no bad carbs – yes some wine but that doesn’t count at this time of year 🙂
Done my packing and ready to go on our trip to the UK on Friday morning.
Cleaner coming tomorrow so the house will be sparkling. I feel like such a snob saying I have a cleaner but I hired her when I was very incapacitated after surgery and haven’t had the heart to let her go.

Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
