Hi I’m a 39 year old mum of 2 and I have tried every diet known to man! I even paid for a gastro balloon once!!!
My dad is diabetic and my man was. I’m over weight 5ft 6 and on Sunday was 12 stone 7.
I read this on Sunday and thought the book made sense. I carry all of my weight on my stomach! I saw a muskuloskeletal specialist yesterday who commented on the fat around my stomach.
I’ve put this diet into action! Today I weighed 12.3 I know it will be water but it’s great to see it coming off. I did have some banana chips today because I craved sweet but that’s all I’ve done that I feel a bit guilty about. So far I’m not missing my carbs.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I think I’m going ok mainly living on eggs and salmon. Made some beetroot falafels and some bean burgers that I enjoyed.
I will keep posting weekly but I would appreciate support from anyone who’s been doing this a while

Welcome Wahlass (and congratulations tokyo14 on your weight loss, fingers crossed for tomorrow!)

Wahlass, I am now in week 7 of the BSD. Not Type 2, but read the book on behalf of OH who is, and who has now joined me on the BSD.

I didn’t have too much to lose – target 22lbs – but wanted to get control of my mild carb addiction, and also lose the weight.

    My comments are –
make sure you measure yourself, or judge by clothing. Sometimes weight doesn’t come off, but actually you are still burning fat and getting slimmer. So don’t get too hooked on the scales and depressed if loss plateaus.

drink the liquids as religiously as you can. I have noticed the more I drink, the better I feel and I believe it really helps get rid of the excess fat

take care measuring what you’re eating, and keep a note of your diet (I use MyFitnessPal). Even if you have a bit of a slip, put that in, and forgive yourself and get back on the waggon immediately!

If you want to push yourself you can have a look on MyFitnessPal about the grams of carbs you are eating within your 800 calories – it’s sometimes very surprising – and target yourself at 50g or less per day. Many people here do this, but it isn’t compulsory, you can simply stick to around the 800 calories, like Michael recommends, if you don’t want the bother.

I have also been really enjoying salmon – and have found that adding chillis to my recipes is really enjoyable. Tonight I cooked a salmon fillet with a sort of topping made from 1 spring onion, 20g of red pepper, small diced chilli pepper, 3 baby plum tomatoes fried together in a little olive oil. Then put on top of the salmon in foil and cooked for 15 minutes. Totally yummy. Ate it with a small salad of 20g baby spinach leaves, 30g feta cheese, and 10g of mixed nuts. It was 500 cals, but I’d not had anything else much today and will still be under 800 calories in total (and less than 20 grams carbs).

If you have any worries post on here – lots of good advice!

    And good luck!

I felt really good but this morning ive been swimming and I felt wuzzy. Ive had some strawberries and blueberries and that farge yoghurt and come around a bit. Do you control portion size? Im eating off a small plate. I ate some brazil nuts and OMG they are so high and stupidly I didn’t put into fitness pal until after I had eaten them!
Thanks for the advice im on the water now so will keep drinking it

Yes, you may feel a bit woozy at the start – it’s coming off the carbs – keep drinking lots of water (and also make sure you get enough salt) and it will pass.

I would recommend you do keep an eye on portion size to check how many calories are going in – as you found with the brazil nuts, you can underestimate what you’re eating. Though brazil nuts are good!

I plan ahead, and weigh out what I’m eating, though some things once you’re a bit more experienced you are able to judge much better.

It all gets much easier as you go on, promise! ๐Ÿ™‚
