Hi – weigh in today the 1st one and lost 6lbs this week and 2 inches off my waist. really happy with it. I actually feel better this week too having got over the flu the week before. If you have the recipe book its worth working out what to eat each day. loved the full fat greek yougurt with crushed nuts and some raspberries chopped up on top for breakfast. for lunch today was an asparagus omelette with green salad and dinner was the Thai fish cakes, found the mixture a bit sloppy but it tasted lovely. the rest is in the fridge so hope it will be a bit firmer for tomorrow. Certainly feeling motivated after the 1st week, don’t expect to lose the same amount of weight in week two but even 2 or 3 lbs would be fab.

MissFreddieSausageDog, your day’s menu sounds great, and what an amazing first week you have had – well done indeed.
I too had Greek yoghurt for breakfast, but with blueberries, which as become my standard breakfast – still cooked my O/H a full English though 😉
This evening I had 2 courses, and my day’s total came in at 819 calories and 40g carbs, but think it was too much for me. I am used to eating 2 – 3 courses for meals, but I felt quite bloated after supper this evening – maybe my belly is shrinking on the inside if not yet on the outside 😉 Supper was really tasty though, and consisted of Portobello mushrooms with garlic butter followed by a large portion of wilted spinach, topped with a 4oz fillet of undyed smoked haddock, and a poached egg, all topped with a tablespoonful of hollandaise. And we call this a diet!
I must say though, I have been freezing all day, but I warmed up after eating this! Feeling very optimistic that this is going to work – though I am missing my wine 🙁
Hope everyone else has had a good day?
-
Wow Miss FSDog and Theodora, you are both doing so well! Loving the sound of the meals you are having 😊 I had a fast day today as not really hungry, drinking tea and decaf coffee then had pea and spinach omelette with salad for tea, which was delish.
-
Big congratulations on your weight loss Miss FSD and Theodora. I’m a bit worried now that I should be counting my carbs?? I just assumed if using MM book recipes that would all be done?? Advise please?? I have been on diet now for week and fatigue has hit in past day, is the carb flu that everyone talks about? I’m still so motivated as have a loss every day but know this will slow. I also love my yoghurt, walnuts and berries. Tonight’s treat is steak with peppercorn sauce. The meals have been really tasty that all the family have enjoyed, although middle child complains about vegetables! Had the stirfry pork last night, delicious! No courgettes due to shortage though so substituted with bok choi instead. Happy dieting folks!!
-
Hi I will do it, I started counting carbs after reading on so many threads here that it really makes a big difference to weight loss. 50 grams of carbs per day seems to be the general advice. It seems quite late for carb flu as most people seem to experience it for the first few days as the body adjusts, but we are all different and I am no doctor! Make sure you are having enough carbs as well, over time I guess you will work out what is right for your body. Just listen to your body and if it is telling you it is tired then rest😊
-
Sorry, auto correct does insist on putting spaces between words Iwilldoit!
-
Thanks Chrysalis. Interestingly the BSD book doesn’t list the amount of carbs in its recipes at the end and focuses on calories. I am struggling with energy levels today and feel extremely tired, despite a good night’s sleep.
-
Week 1 update for me – I’ve lost 2.3kg 🙂 very happy with that.
I’m now up to Day 2 of week 2 & have decided to focus on increasing my steps this week. Last week I did over 63,000 in 7 days, would like to get to over 70,000 this week. I wanted to go for a walk during my lunch break but it’s a very hot 35 degrees outside so I’ve stayed inside in the air conditioning instead!
I’m using the time to plan this weeks meals. I bought the BSD recipe book last week and LOVE it! Haven’t tried many recipes yet apart from a porridge one (using oats, coconut oil & cinnamon – delicious and very filling 🙂
I’m relieved that the terrible hunger pangs I had early on last week have gone thank goodness. I had a bowl of porridge at 6.30am and lunch (roast veg frittata & salad) at 2.30pm – very busy at work today so lunch was late.
I had a few slip ups last week (wine, birthday cake…) but not worrying too much as “life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans”! I plan to only consume 800 cals per day but it doesn’t always happen!
Hope everyone else had a good weekend and your week is off to a good start 🙂 -
Such wonderful weight loss! congratulations Sue Blue, Miss FSDog and Theodora you are doing so well!
I also had my first weigh in today and I did a little dance of joy! 😁 2.5kg loss – so happy!! 🙂 I’ve felt really good today with very little hunger.
Sue Blue I know how you feel, the temperatures where I am are about the same with about 80/90% humidity. 😓
I stayed pretty strong over the weekend although we did have guests over on Saturday night. The meal wasn’t out of the recipe book and was quite a bit higher in calories than I should have eaten but it still followed the principles of low carb, high vegetable and included a bit of fat so I was pretty happy with that!
Just need to get through Australia Day celebrations this week!! 😀
Hope everyone is having a great week! -
Morning all! Well done Sue Blue, Miss FSDog and Theodora, that’s brilliant news!
Week 1 over and I have lost 7lbs (3kg). Delighted with that especially considering my succumbing to temptation on Friday. I’ve enjoyed the recipes in the book but I’m starting to realise I don’t need to go all out to enjoy a potato/pasta free meal. Yesterday I tried the roast chicken breast covered with cream cheese, garlic and parma ham and just made it with a side of broccoli, easy and delicious. I think simplicity will be my goal this week along with more regular trips to the gym.
One thing I tried to do last week was to drink 2 litres of water each day before I finished work, but I think that’s too much for me as I feel it sloshing around and it just reminds me there’s no food in there for company. So this week it will be 1.5 litres in work and I will drink the rest at home.
Hope everyone has a good week! x
-
Well done SueBlue, Chrisula and Claire – all doing so well :-).
Survived my first BSD weekend without mishap and I too had my one week weigh in today.
My results are a loss of 8lbs (3.6kg) and my BMI has fallen from 29.4 to 28.0 and body fat percentage down from 33.6 to 32.6 🙂
Doing the happy dance for us all. 🙂 We can do this, girls 🙂
Only fly in my ointment is no measurable loss on my waist 🙁 but hopefully that will come. How’s everyone else doing in this respect?
I think we should all prepare for a smaller / slower loss this coming week though 🙁
Onwards and downwards girls – 1/8 of the way (weigh? 😉 ) through 🙂
-
Wow 3.6kg is great Theodora 🙂
I measured myself this morning too and didn’t notice any loss around my waist. But I guess it’s early days yet, makes you wonder where it has come off though… -
Wow Theodora that’s fantastic! I expect a slower loss this week too, hopefully not to slow though. If I say I’m 1/6th of the way to my target loss/weight then it makes me feel very positive about this.
Didn’t have time to measure waist this morning so I will do tomorrow. My body fat % etc measurements on my new scales haven’t shown a huge difference but to be honest I haven’t paid much attention to them as I still need to look up what they actually mean.
-
Claire – to help you out:-
BMI
Underweight: BMI is less than 18.5
Normal weight: BMI is 18.5 to 24.9
Overweight: BMI is 25 to 29.9
Obese: BMI is 30 or moreBODY FAT %age (this is for women – men are a bit less)
Age between 20 – 39
Healthy between 21% – 33%
Increased between 34% – 39%
Far too high over 39%Age between 40 – 59
Healthy between 23% – 34%
Increased between 35% – 40%
Far too high over 40%Age between 60 – 79
Healthy between 24% – 36%
Increased between 37% -42%
Far too high over 42%WATER %age – average for a woman is between 52% and 55% (more for a man) but this drops with age and over 60s average is roughly 50% due to muscle loss.
Hope this helps.
PS Just realised that this means I am well within the healthy body fat range for my age! 🙂
-
Super, thank you Theodora!
-
Good Morning all and a happy Tuesday to everyone. Wow, great weight losses all round. Well done SueBlue, Chrisula, Claire, Theodora. Weigh in for me was yesterday – 4lbs! Happy with that! The weekend was a challenge, however managed to keep to BSD all the way! Evenings were a really struggle but I think I’m overcoming that now as did not feel the need to snack last night at all.
-
I’m UNDERFAT for my age according to the above figures if my scan was accurate at 22%. Looks like another one I’ll have to ignore, like the BMI. I think I am too muscular for both.
-
Hi there everyone and a happy Friday to you all. Well nearing the end of my second week (my weigh in day is a Monday) and I’m glad to say that the cravings seem to have stopped. I no longer feel that I have to snack in the evenings and if I do (which is not very often) I have an apple and small bit of cheese. My first challenge is tonight…. going to a birthday party where there is going to be a lot of finger food, puddings and cake. So worried that if I do indulge tonight that the carb monster will come out again and I’ll be back to having those niggly cravings. What is everyone else’s experience with this? I’ve been really strong this time round. Any tips?
-
End of week 2 and a 3lb loss making -9lbs in two weeks so very happy with that and 3 1/2 inches off my waist. whoop whoop. Feeling very well, amazed that despite the high protein low carb I don’t feel hungry that’s really a change from other “low fat” type diets. This week I had full fat greek yogurt for breakfast with nuts and raspberries ( only 3 chopped) but I think I will go back to porridge next week. If anyone has the recipe book, I can recommend the pork steak in mustard sauce, had it last Friday and again last night its so delicious. the crème freche and wwholegrain mustard on the pork with steamed kale and some asparagus, omg so tasty diet what diet !!!!. This week I am going to try the fried steak with sugar snap peas and asparagus. And salmon with coconut and the stir fried prawn and tuna so more fish this week. My food cupboard is certainly changing with jars of spices, one thing I am going to do this week is to completely empty the cupboard take out all those things lurking in the background like the bag of flour, the pasta and the other carb filled naughty things and turn it into a feast of delights to make this diet oh so tasty, the recipes are so tasty it sure does help. Bring on the cauliflower rice 🙂 have a good week and one thing I have learnt this week is to drink more water.
-
Well done MissFreddieSD, you are doing really well.
Sadly, and much to my consternation, after a really good first week (loss of 3.6kg), this week has seen a loss of absolute zilch on the scales, with no reduction in waist measurement either, despite adhering 100% to BSD800 (and often a lot less than 800, and carbs averaging only 27g) 🙁 My weigh in day is Monday but I cannot imagine I will lose anything over the weekend! Feeling discouraged. 🙁
I know everyone hits a plateau, just wasn’t expecting to hit one quite so soon. I’ve increased my water intake this week in the hope it would help, but all that seems to do is make me want to spend a penny every 15mins!!
🙁 🙁 🙁I have one more week before I go away for 10 days (now THAT will be a challenge) so desperate to get things moving again, otherwise I just KNOW I will succumb to temptation whilst away.
-
Hello all. hope you dont mind me joining in! I am just finishing week 3. My son is joining me & has really become the ‘carb/sugar police!’.
I have lost 9lbs so far , which is fab, but I have a very long way to go. I am not going to get hung up on numbers as this has been my downfall over my many years of ‘dieting’. I have really tried them all. I do believe this is ‘the one’!!
I am not diabetic, or should I say” I dont think I am” ! I have got a serious health condition which has given me a real kick up the pants !!
I feel really well on this food regime, never hungry & I have much more energy. I have seriously had to rethink my portions.
I love cooking & am using the recipe book. When I need a sweet hit I make the Seeded Flapjacks, which are fab.
One thing I would say is melt the coconut oil, as the first time I made them I followed the recipe & they didnt stay together , hence I had a lot of topping for my yoghurt that week !!!
Looking forward to hearing all your news over the next few weeks -
Hi MissFreddieSausageDog
I notice you said low carb, high protein. This is more a low carb, moderate protein, higher fat way of eating. Excess ingested protein can convert to glucose through gluconeogenisis which can keep your blood sugars raised and prevent the weight loss. If you find the weight stalls, just back off a bit on the protein and that should kick start it again.
Best of luck
Linda -
How’s everyone doing on Weigh In Day?
I’ve just completed 2 weeks, really strictly, but I am disappointed to say that both my scales and my tape measure record nothing at all lost in week 2 🙁
A little discouraged, but will keep on keeping on in the hope of better things this coming week.
-
Hi all. I have finished week 2 and lost 5kg in total. During the second week my loss slowed right down but still managed a small weight loss. So keep at it and don’t get too disheartened. I still miss my bread and a biscuit with my cuppa on a night. Hunger during day improving and I still find the meals from recipe book delicious. Think I have only had one disaster! Have now bought the second book for more recipes and inspiration.
-
Hey everyone – Theodora I know that’s hard but week three losses should be really good! I had the same sort of thing happen as you and IWillDoIt I had a great loss first week 2.5kg but week two only .8kg.
I also had a big blowout day where I ate badly and had some wine. But like everyone is saying I’m not judging myself or hating myself for it – just getting back into it! Planned all my meals this week which I hadn’t done in previous weeks and today I went for a run with a friend – something I’ve really struggled to do lately.Just on the struggle side has anyone else been experiencing light-headedness or dizzy spells?? I’ve had them a lot lately and so made sure I started taking multi vitamins. Any other suggestions or similar experiences?
-
Chrisula83 could it be not enough salt? If you’ve stopped eating processed packaged food you’ll need to start adding salt to your food. All mammals need it, other animals will lick it off minerally rocks. Humans usually get more than enough from salty processed junk food – but not on the BSD.
-
Natalie I hadn’t even thought about salt but it’s quite possible you’re onto something. I have salt with my breakfast eggs (just a small bit) but not really any other meal – I think I’ll do some research about how much salt you need a day!
Also makes sense as I live in the tropics so sweating is a constant thing! 🙂 -
Hi Chrisula83
Natalie’s spot on.
Here’s a link to salt that I posted on another page:
https://www.ketovangelist.com/salt-the-prize-jewel-of-keto/
I was out walking recently (hot Sydney weather) and actually collapsed. I had been drinking enough water so put it down to the heat and lack of salt. I have now increased salt significantly and really listen to my body when I’m out and about.
Cheers
Linda -
Wow Linda good article – thanks for that. Will definitely be upping the salt!
-
Hi everyone, sorry not been on for a while but not been well and feeling out of sorts…fallen off the BSD wagon a bit, tho trying to maintain low carb. However, have to say that combination of illness and winter blues is not a good combination for weight loss…not looking forward to next weigh in, tho I will persevere! 🙁
-
Don’t be discouraged Theodora, it is perhaps not quite as fast as you hoped, but keep with the plan and you will lose weight eventually 🙂
-
Has anyone bought a Fitbit or similar type of gadget, I have got a Veryfit one its totally amazing and rather interesting, good to see what steps I am doing each day – calories burnt off and also what I found fascinating is the sleep tracker – I always wondered how much sleep I actually had and this tells me how much light sleep, how much deep sleep and how long you are awake for !!!!. Also gives your heart rates too. I work in retail part time and do 4hr shifts on my feet for those 4hrs, no breaks. but never realized how far I actually walk around the store – on Monday I walked 1 & 3/4 miles round the store did over 5000 steps and burned 630 calories which was more than I had consumed that day !!! well I never. its great for keeping track of what you are doing exercise wise even if your not doing something on purpose, like walking round the shops etc.
Having a tasty week this week back on the porridge for breakfast, had tuna and prawns stir fried with ginger and chilli a spring onion, and some beansprouts, really tasty. Also had steak this week, pan fried with kale and a fried egg. Not feeling any hunger at all, in fact feel quite energetic too amazing on 800 or less calories a day. Fingers crossed for Saturday weigh in week 3 this week. -
WooHooooo!!! 🙂 My weight loss famine is over!! 🙂 After 12 days of neither the scales nor the tape measure showing any loss at all, I seem to have had a fabled “whoosh” event overnight, and this morning the scales measured a loss of 3.25lbs! 🙂 And the tape measure around my waist a loss of 2″ (the first measurable loss of belly fat). 🙂
In total I have lost 11.25lbs (5.1kg) since I started BSD800 on 16th Jan. My body fat %age has dropped to within the “healthy” range for my age (just) at 31.8 and my BMI has dropped a full 2 points. Doing the happy dance here! 🙂
Now I have the challenge of a 10 day holiday looming – leaving tomorrow, so no more weigh ins until 15th Feb. Think I may get withdrawal symptoms. We’ll be doing a lot of socialising though, so maybe just as well I won’t be able to see the damage I am doing – though I will try my very best to stick to BSD principles, if not the 800 calorie part. May just be tempted by the odd glass or three of vino too!!
Hope everyone else is doing ok too?
-
Please excuse me if I have another woohoo moment! 😉
WooHoo – after my plateau of 12 days, and having a whoosh event yesterday morning, this morning showed yet another pound gone! (We should stop saying “lost”, it makes us sound careless, when the fat is going purely because of all our hard work and determination. So in future my fat will be “gone,” not “lost”!)
For me, it’s week 3, day 6 and 12.25 lbs (5.55kg) gone 🙂 WooHoo 🙂
It seems to have gone a bit quiet on here – how are the rest of you doing?
-
That’s fantastic Theodora!
It is a bit quiet in here – I avoided posting a lot last week as I’d only lost 200grams in week 2, but I’ve been reading posts and lurking 🙂
I started Week 4 today, I was very pleased this morning when I stood on the scales and they read 99.7kg – I’ve been trying to get back under 100kg for ages! So that was my Woohoo a moment 🙂
Total loss, or rather, total fat gone in 3 weeks for me is 3.2kg (7lb). I’m really happy with that, as I have mentioned in other posts I haven’t been strict with the 800 cals per day.
This week should be easier though – no special occasions or nights out planned! And enjoy your holiday, hope you have a great time!
-
Hi everyone. It’s been a hard weekend. Had lost 1kg on week 3 but been socialising this weekend and couldn’t refuse wood fired pizzas and vino plus chocolate for afters. Amazing how it only takes one day and that kilo is back on yet a week of determination to lose.!!
-
SueBlue, well done on your WooHoo moment. 🙂
Iwilldoit, we can resist everything but temptation, huh? I know the feeling, but just pick yourself up, dust yourself down and start all over again (to paraphrase the old song)
Well 36 hours into our holiday (and, more to the point 2 dinners) and, so far, I have managed to stick totally to BSD – not sure about the 800, but don’t think I am hugely over – and not a drop of alcohol has passed my lips 🙂 Now that really is a first when I’m on holiday, particularly with boozy friends. I don’t intend being dry for the entire 10 days, but will try to pick and choose my occasions.
On the plus side, we are on a walking holiday (4 adults, 4 dogs), so will be hopefully using up lots of calories, and far exceeding the 10,000 steps MM suggests. Not sure how much walking will get done tomorrow, though, as heavy rain forecast all day.
I am determined not to undo all the good work, but am not expecting to drop any weight this week. If I stay the same I will count that a RESULT!
Onward and downward, everyone.
-
PS For walking holiday in my post above, read pub crawl!!!
-
Theodora have a great holiday!
-
Here’s my Week 4 round up – unfortunately it was not such a good week for me after all, despite my good intentions 🙁
I started out well, and this week I was weighing myself daily to see where it fluctuates. By Wednesday I had lost 700g, then I had a few blow out days, probably only went to 1000/1200 calories, but put the ‘lost’ 700g back on again In those few days. Today is the start of Week 5 for me, and this mornings weigh in shows I’ve lost 300g (1/2lb?) over the past week, so still a loss I guess, but nowhere near what I had wanted to achieve. Overall, halfway through the 8 weeks and I’m down 3.5kg (7.7lbs)….not as much as I’d hoped for but I only have myself to blame!
On a positive note though, I measured myself and have lost 5cm off my bust, 3cm off my waist and 2cm off my hips. My clothes are fitting better, and I definitely feel better and have more energy. And I am finding it easier to resist “bad foods” despite my 2 blow out days which were down to wine, not food!
I went to a colleagues morning tea and said no to the delicious looking cakes on offer and on Friday sat in the lunchroom eating my salad, while the guys I work with were eating KFC!
Here’s to Week 5 – “Onwards and downwards”!! -
Hi, I’m also starting out – looking for a new me! Read the book, found some lovely recipes and shopped for the week BSD style! Also got some new walking shoes and a route planned that is do-able most evenings. Hoping to lose 3+ dress sizes and re-think life in my 50’s so here goes…
-
Welcome Caroline and good luck 🙂
I am in my early 50’s also, and knew I needed a re-think, as each year over the last decade my weight has crept up and up!
I’ve found the forums on here really helpful and supportive.
Look forward to hearing of your progress 🙂 -
I am 74 I have just started the BSD found the recipes easy and quick and tasty missing my fruit as it limits you to mostly berries frozen ones in winter are very sour need my supper snack as by then am feeling peckish so have mug of semi skimmed milk a few seeds a couple of walnuts and 4 cashews .I am disappointed that after a week I have barely lost 2 lbs especially after reading what others have lost but am going to persevere
-
Hi VEB1943
You’ll find semi skimmed milk higher in carbs than full fat milk which will also keep you more satiated. Try not to go low/lite fat anything. Fat is the key to losing weight on this WOE.
Cashews also are particularly high in carbs so try and swap them out for macadamias or almonds or better still a small piece of cheese.
Also, are you drinking enough water? You need at LEAST 2-3 litres per day. Are you measuring your carbs to keep them under 50g per day?
Some folk on the forums find they need to lower that level if they are still not losing, particularly if you are insulin resistant, pre diabetic or have T2D.
Let us know how you go.
Cheers
Linda -
I have been doing well, week three and I lost 2lb that week, but on the end of week 4’s weigh in I had lost 4lbs, what happened there so up to date at the end of week 5 I have now lost 1st 3lbs ( 17lbs) I am really pleased with this progress. I have had to buy new work trousers smaller ones whoop whoop. and some new pyjamas as the bottoms are falling down. 4 inches off my waist, 3 inches off the hips and 2 off my bust, I have to say my butt has shrunk I have a baggy bum in some clothing !!!! my Veryfit fitness tracker is really useful, and gives me a great indicator or steps = miles per day and calories burnt. I did a 3 miles fast paced walk yesterday getting my heart rate up to 120 which shows fat burning mode. I am averaging around 15 miles a week in walking, ( the dogs are sleeping well 🙂 ). I keep a food diary and each week register my weight and measurements, also I plan my meals for the week, makes shopping easier – work out what to eat to fit round my 3 working days as I am on my feet for 4hrs without a break and can walk up to 2 miles at work, also takes some psychical lifting too so work is almost like a gym workout. I love the recipes in the diet book and so far its working. I don’t feel hungry and haven’t really had any cravings for food which is good, as I was an avid cake monster before and I did love my bread, but amazingly I have really taken to this eating plan – I feel 100% better in myself, I feel I have more energy I am sleeping better too as my tracker shows my sleep pattern !. All in all really happy on this eating plan, I am not going to call it a diet as I feel that this is now a lifestyle change. looking forward to getting to the 2 stone mark and then I will weigh less than when I retired 4yrs ago.
-
Hey, MissFSD, good to hear from you – this thread seems to have fallen rather quiet.
You seem to be in pretty much the same place as me – after 5 weeks I too have lost 17lbs, although sadly the tape measure still isn’t showing any loss around my waist, so well done you! (Waist was the only measurement I took pre-starting, silly really!) But, like you, all my trousers seem to have developed baggy bottom syndrome 😉 I also seem to have lost from around my wrists (not that I ever noticed my wrists being fat 😉 ) and have had to tighten my watchstrap by two notches! My 5 weeks have spanned one longish plateau (12 days) plus a 10 day holiday. Now I am on another high plateau, and have been for the past week 🙁 but am hoping for another visit by the Whoosh Fairy soon. 🙂 Like you, I would also like to lose 2 stone, and when I get there, maybe I’ll keep going…….
I don’t have a fancy fitness tracker, but do use a pedometer and – on one thing at least, my numbers are higher 😉 – I am averaging 35 miles a week 🙂 But then, your dogs have short legs, and I have very bouncy, high energy collies – – wishing mine were sleeping more, but the more exercise they get, it seems the more exercise they want!! On the other hand, I don’t get the other exercise you seem to encounter in your job, so you are probably well up on me – not that it’s a competition, but good to exchange notes and experiences.
Like you, am loving the food, and am feeling heaps better, sleeping better, and have more energy. I used to fall into bed around 10pm exhausted, now I am rarely in bed before midnight and feel I could still keep going.
I see this as a complete lifestyle change and when I finally reach maintenance, intend to carry on with BSD, though will start calling it BSEating, as it will no longer be a reduction diet, but maybe with the addition of a few glasses of wine at weekends.
How are everyone else doing on this thread – wake up all of you and let’s have your news?
-
Grrr – just replied to this post, and it seems to have disappeared! Grrr. I’ll try again…………….
Hi MissFSD – good to hear from you,, particularly as this thread seems to have gone rather quiet of late.
Our journeys are running almost parallel – I too have just finished week 5 and, like you, have lost a total of 17lbs and, again like yourself, have set myself a target of 2 stone, although when I finally achieve 2 stone, I may try for another, which would give me a lovely BMI of 21. My 5 weeks have incorporated a 12 day plateau and a 10 day holiday, so 17lbs isn’t looking too bad. However, feeling a little envious of your inches lost, as my tape measure, when measuring my waist, has stayed remarkably static 🙁 So well done you. 🙂 Silly really, my waist measurement was the only one I took pre-BSD, so nothing else to compare. However, all my trousers seem to have developed “baggy bottom” syndrome, and I have had to tighten my watch strap by 2 notches (and I never considered my wrists to be fat!) so obviously the weight is coming off, just not necessarily in the right places.
As far as miles walked are concerned, there at least my numbers are good – I am averaging 35 miles per week, but then your dogs have short legs, and I have big, bouncy, high energy collies. Sadly, the walking doesn’t make them sleep more – the more exercise they get, the more they seem to want! Mind you, I don’t get a “gym workout” at work (retired) so think you are still exercising more than me – not that it’s a competition, but it’s good to compare notes.
Again, like you I am feeling and sleeping so much better, and seem to have far more energy. I used to fall into bed around 10pm exhausted and now I am rarely in bed before midnight and still feel as though I could happily keep going 🙂
I too am very happy on this eating plan and, as and when I reach maintenance, I will certainly continue with BSD, though I am going to call it BSE(ating) as it won’t be a reduction diet, just a way of life, although I shall reintroduce a few glasses of wine at weekends 😉
How are everyone else doing on this thread? Come on, guys, we’re waiting for news…..
-
Hi Everyone. I’m losing but at a slow pace which after my initial loss feels disappointing but still a loss. After 5 weeks I have lost 14lbs (6.5kgs). I keep reminding myself that on average that is over a kilo per week so not to be too despondent. However, the past fortnight have been slow with only half kilo each week. My clothes certainly feel looser but I stupidly didn’t take any measurements. I am calorie counting and only eating recipes from both books but admit I haven’t counted up carbs. I’m trying to focus on exercise more but as a working mum of 3 school age children find it difficult to fit it in between all the activities. I’m generally not hungry but still crave something sweet on a night which I can resist the majority of time. My main inspiration is being fit for my youngest who I had aged 41 and wish that I will be fit and healthy when she becomes a young adult. I to feel this is a way of life and will
continue at the end of 8 weeks. I still have a further 5kgs to lose and suspect it won’t happen by week 8. Do we keep going on 800cal until lost or do we move onto 5plus2?? -
Hi Theodora, I’m still here, I post in another few threads as well and I think I have updated in there and not here.
Not much to post from me – I’m feeling very frustrated to be honest. Today I weigh the same as I did 2 weeks ago – I keep gaining and losing the same blasted kilo 😡 It’s gone again this week! I wish I was losing at a steady rate of say 1kg a week. I’m up to Week 6 now and have lost 3.9kg which I think is just over 8lb.
Still 2 1/2 weeks to go for the first 8 weeks for me. I’ll be following it up with a 2nd 8 weeks I think and see how I go with that as I need to lose at least another 25kg still. I suppose it’s like that shampoo ad from the 80s or 90s – “it won’t happen overnight but it WILL happen!” -
thank you for your reply – so good to hear from people doing the same thing. we both seem on an even keel, I take every week first thing on a Saturday morning for me – weight and measurements, one thing to remember its in one of the books somewhere that even if you lose a pound you may well have lost visceral fat which is the naughty internal fat. I have noticed things like the tops of my arms and wearing bra’s backfat !!!! seems to have gone down massively also a lady I work with has been on holiday and I haven’t seen her for two weeks – she commented on my face, as to how much slimmer I looked and that my bum and tum were so much thinner. I was well happy with that. Like you I really feel this is a lifestyle change I feel so much better. once I am happy with myself I think then it will be BSD maintenance so probably 5.2 ( my brother does that for weight maintenance not that he needs it but he says that fasting 2 days a week allows him those treats like a beer and a pizza and he doesn’t gain any weight) so I think that’s the way forward. Keep up the good work and he way I feel is if I am not eating bread, rice, wheat potatoes pasta, cake biscuits and the like, and eating lots of green veg, meats and fish then over the course of a year you are bound to lose weight. Incidentally Dr Mosely was on Radio 2 this morning chatting to Chris Evans as he is on the blood sugar diet he was saying how much better he feels too. Good luck and lets keep it going xx
