I looked at carrot cake in Waitrose the other day – the type you get in many cafes etc. 515 calories!!!!
Got a slightly more BSD friendly Kind bar 199 calories, 16g of carb. It has dark chocolate!!!
I love the Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt one, but given how often I go there, I do need to avoid making it an “every time I go to Waitrose” treat.

My diabetic nurse appointment this morning was fine – the nurse was very impressed with my weight loss & resultant BMI reduction, and interested in the diet. She did the tapping my feet test, but I’ve never had problems with that one anyway, & she liked my toe nail varnish.

When she asked about activity levels, I gave a list of what I was doing, then remembered the kayaking & she replied “that’s great, but I’ve ticked the very active option, it doesn’t go higher than that”
I’m going do to another HBA1c test – will be good because I’ve just completed 3 months on BSD, and that’s the period it measures.
The last one was after I’d done about six weeks BSD – I saw the comments on the screen & GP had written last time “HBA1c & cholesterol dramatically reduced, large weight loss, intending to loose more?”
To be fair, she has been my GP for about eighteen years and seen an awful lot of attempts at diets/loosing weight. But she did refer me to the idiot that suggested cutting a mars bar into seven and eating a piece each day. What about the other three bars in the packet?

Way to go Frog! Another shining example of the medical benefits of BSD. I remembered your previous comment about the idiot with the Mars bars!!! I am heartened by how active we are all becoming on this lifestyle. My Jawbone bracelet definitely caused a change of attitude! On this holiday I’ve been off ‘for a wander’ with my son on several occasions! He’s happy as he can play the daft Pokemon Go and I can get my steps in for the day. I evenly smugly highlighted to me OH yesterday that my steps were miles more than his. Although his daughter had been ill for 2 days so he hadn’t ventured far from the chalet 😕 The friends and duel functions on the app both inspire and exasperate me in various measures lol

Hello everyone, I’m late to the party today! Just sat down for the first time today. I’m 0.3 kg up on yesterday but I did have a couple of mini bottles of wine last night. Not stressing, worse things happen at sea! Today, I’ve made a Elana loaf, to take with me. I’ve made the Hemsley Flaxseed baps again and they were a success this time (using ground not flaxseeds this time) but I wasn’t too, too keen on the taste. Husband loved them. He can eat them, suits me. And I’ve just made a cake 😮 Or rather two cakes.
    http://myheartbeets.com/flourless-peanut-butter-cake-gluten-free/

This is from the same lady who I made the chocolate muffins from her chocolate cake recipe. Ye Gods. It’s flourless too. Made two 4.5 inch sponges. Not tallied them up yet though…

Jan, you know my real name 😉 I’m the one duelling you haha

Gavin, I have Jawbone as does Jan and Janey and Tokyo, any joy getting it to sync with your device?

Frog, those sound ideal! I’ve never seen those before, what a great idea! The idea behind the small wine was that I could have a glass or two… pffffffft. I ended up drinking 5 and arguing with an 11 year old. Wasn’t my finest hour. I’m better off sober. The only thing with the gram flour base is I suspect it’s either going to be floppy (like a wrap) or ridiculously teeth shatteringly crispy (like the pastry). I will find something though, I’m a Taurus, I’m stubborn.

Well done Orinoco! Keep going 😀

Haha Antigone, I was drinking hardfaced glasses last night, my head is still a bit delicate! I think it was ok… after the first glass I didn’t really care 😮 Um, North Walian? I’m not sure if you’re winding me up, but if you’re not, it means I’m from North Wales 🙂 I have never seen Game of Thrones… apparently the only two channels we have in this house are Cartoon Network and Sky sports… :-/

Well done Frog, that’s great news. It’s always nice when someone likes your toenails 😉 I’m not holding my breath for anyone ever saying that to me, feet like a griffin etc. Husband has to cut my nails with an angle grinder, wearing safety goggles…

Janey… er… WTH??? ‘The friends and duel functions on the app both inspire and exasperate me in various measures lol’ Pffffffffffffffffffft.

Yowzer, I still need to get back to you, not forgotten!

peanut butter muffins sound good Lucky – you must have spent all day in the kitchen.
to be fair, I have actually stuffed a mushroom – not got prestuffed M&S mushroom, did it myself.
Huge portabello mushroom, chopped up some feta, added half, lobbed in some tomato concentrate, rest of the feta on top, zapped it in the microwave. tasted nice.
I think the gram four base works for a pizza if you make it thick enough.

Hi Janey, sounds like your having a great holiday – hope step daughter recovers soon (or is it a teenage stroppy/grouchy thing?) -well, hope she recovers anyway, so that you can all have a good time – must make things difficult.

I don’t often have those portabello mushrooms – even I can’t go wrong lobbing cheese in and shoving it in a microwave!
I don’t think I could be bothered with making a ratatouille to stuff one, like the ones i got from M&S – but I suppose if I had a large pot of ratatouille to hand, I might.
    And a large mushroom.

LOL. I think you need to hire me as a live in chef or something, stuffing mushrooms sounds like the insanity I would do, tbh. I don’t half make work for myself sometimes.

I’ve just had possibly the nicest burger I’ve ever had in my life, a bought one anyway. A Waitrose steak burger and it’s got cracked black pepper all the way around it. Hubby had his on a Hemsley bap. I just ate mine off the plate bare, I was so hungry. That’s me looking for something else to eat later… my moth is on fire now.

I’ve had waitrose mini burgers recently. They were tasty, and a good size for BSD. I still have the rest of the pack for the freezer. there were six in a pack, 2 each of Lamb, Beef – and presumably pork.
Good way of buying so that you don’t end up with tons of the same thing.

Oooooh I haven’t seen those Frog, I’ll have a gander next time I’m in. I’ve been quite pleasantly surprised by Waitrose, it’s a relatively new addition to our town and I don’t go in often. The quality is obvious but the prices of a lot of things are comparable to the offers in the big 4, especially multibuy meats and things. And more interesting than the run of the mill supermarkets. Even their ‘value’ range of meats is nice, the pork mince and frying steak particularly.

Waitrose..I love it..our nearest is a good drive away..it feels like a day out when we go..their essentials range is quite good value. And you get a free cuppa with yr waitrose card!
Last time we were there,in the cafe..
ME: do you want a cake or something? Coz you have to buy something now to get yr free cuppa
BEAU: no,i dont even want a cup of tea
ME: oh well i’ ll get an apple then, even tho i’m not keen on Gala apples ( and hardly eat apples nowadays coz of the carbs)

Leave Beau in queue clutching tray and money..a few mins later,he sashays across to the table with a loaded tray..2 pots tea,a large scone with butter and jam for himself ..and the flipping apple that no one wanted or needed!
When i pointed out our conversation above, and asked why the scone and why the apple also,he said” I dont understand the protocol” ( in other words, “i wasnt listening” ) That apple is still languishing in the fruit bowl! X

I have a smallish Waitrose about five minutes walk away, and a couple of larger ones close by. One large one is conveniently close to the gym, the other one is next to the cinema that I use – neither have a cafe, but they are both next to nice parks.

Morning everyone! Firstly, sorry – yesterday I’d typed a reply to everyone in the box, got sidetracked and when I flaked out stupidly early and put computer off, noticed I’d not hit post on it.

Today is daft weigh day, from Sunday to Friday as I’m away in a bit. I am 96.7kg, so that’s 2 kg gone this week so only 0.7kg to go now to get to pre camping weight. Away at 9 hopefully if we’re packed and showered in time.

Jan, I haven’t been walking much myself, definitely not been feeling myself this week, really tired. Slept for over 9 hours last night, straight through. Didn’t even finish the rugby, and if I hadn’t set my alarm for 7, I think I’d have slept longer too. I’m wiped out. Doubt I’ll get much in before the end either, this weather is grim and I’ll probably be housebound there! Chained to the kitchen lol.

Never followed Bake Off, never seen the appeal in it.

Well done on the clothes Yowzer, keep at it Tokyo, you’ll be feeling fine in a few more days, Janey – there are much MUCH worse things to have eaten last night than a carvery 😉

Hopefully check in with you all tonight, all being well! Have a good day! 🙂

Yeahhhhh morning all you beautiful peeps.

Hope it’s going well. Lucky I’ve been really wiped this week except Wednesday, when I was so full of beans couldn’t switch of, so strange.

Joy of joys tried on my smallest outfit for the frightfully posh darling wedding I am going to on 3 Sep and its Fffffffffitting wey hey showed OH and he looked at me agog as he could see I had a figure appearing, the dress is couture from my dress agency that I run, so not a couturier price, and I have kept it and coveted it for 4 years in the hope and it Fffffffits, ooh it’s so lovely it’s by Out of Xile a very different sort of designer, it’s very figure hugging at the top and sweeps away to a partly tiered skirt, in navy. So I am sorted my biggest outfit and my next down are now not needed, and the OH approves bless him he says very little but he did look at me in a shocked way, he hasn’t seen a figure from me for 9 years and that was only a brief 6 months then I went back to ms blobby.

But anyway j.b. Is vibrating me got to move, happy day everyone, and well done on all your losses and smaller clothes and restrained eating when on hol yeahhhhhh loving this plan and love you guys.🙋🙋🙋

You’re a darling for those comments, didn’t you say you are in fashion, what sort, it’s very interesting times at the mo, buying and selling I have run a dress agency since 2007, so I get the worlds labels in, but never worn any out of Xile before, but I always prefer the quirky lagenlook style.
As my mum always said I always wanted to be irritatingly different, but I like the unstructured styles, but I must admit as my shape is changing, I may have to re think that. But putting that dress on today has given me an enormous boost. I just wish my sister who started this plan a week after me had stuck to it, as she is the mother of the bride, and I know she will out of desperation end up with an awful what I call mobster outfit, and it will make her very unhappy. But as much as I love her and willed her on I couldn’t make her stick to it, it comes from our guts well it does for me. Mind you my ill health was an enormous driver. Anyway hope you have a happy day.

Well done greenjanet, that feeling to get into something you have yearned to for ages. My first aim was to get into size 14 shorts that fit 2 years ago then didn’t last year. Well they fit this year. I wanted to get into a pair of white jeans (also fit 2 years ago) but couldn’t quite do up the zip, looked at the label and they are a 12. I also have THE dress, I bought it in a UK shop sale and they didn’t deliver to France so had it sent to my daughters for her to bring out 3 months later. By the time it arrived I had gained weight and it has sat in the wardrobe since then. That is my big goal, besides all the little goals on the way we are all doing so well.

Gavin. Sorry to hear you’re disappointed with your results. I can understand, I probably would be a bit but try and take a positive out of it in that you haven’t gained anything. I only had one STS week in my first 8 and I think I was more gutted than last week when I put on! And half an inch off the waist, so something is giving. It really isn’t so easy at times when you can’t just grab a butty and run. I’m going to struggle this weekend, I know it. Making a carb laden buffet for 70+ people 😭😭😭. Help meeeeeeeeee! Lol.
