I need to read the book again… lol

Re carbs how I understood it was we cut refined carbs out completely, and if we tuck into them again, we reverse the effects of going carb cold turkey, so you start craving them again and your appetite goes through the roof again. Headaches nausea, lethargy, hungry all the time etc.
So no you couldn’t even force feed me a carb no way hosay.
My sister tucked into yesterday two enormous buttered pieces of toast , kfc , and rolls and cheese, hence she now feels rubbish, and totally lost re the plan. But I can’t say I feel even tempted, it’s really weird, very alien for me, but hey who am I to question a miracle of a eating plan in action. -
I’m still walking Lucky. Well, I’ve stopped for a cheeky afternoon G&T in a little local ‘find’. Locally brewed beers, ciders and gin! I shall only have the one though and then carry on up the hill home. We’ve had a lovely child free mooch round the shops today. I’ve spanked a whole £10 on charity shop clothes today. Woohoooo.
I shall have to join the mad cat woman chat and upload a pic. It’s photo bucket that Bill recommended..

That must be what info I’d subconsciously retained then Jan, because I’ve not touched a thing in 7 weeks. I suppose once in a while won’t hurt but like the alcohol, is it worth the risk? I can’t say I haven’t been tempted, but very surprisingly, it hasn’t… bothered me too much. Hindered me, yes! Because there’s nothing simpler than a sandwich when you’re hungry, for lunch, when you’re going out for the day. But it really hasn’t bothered me to the extent that I thought it would. I am wavering a bit about my curry tonight because I love rice with it. Egg fried rice. Sometimes homemade, sometimes the Birds Eye Rice Fusions (I used to love those and bought a load two days before I found out about this diet!). But even half a bag of that was about 25 carbs, even if it didn’t kick off any cravings in me, I just can’t justify it for the amount I’d have. It’s funny how we’ve almost been scared into things by this diet, but not in a horrible way. Scared into common sense (at last!) maybe?
-
I really do need to get a handle on carb counts in my head though, because I really haven’t got a clue. Other than knowing what things to avoid like bread, pasta, rice, potatoes etc. I wouldn’t know what was high, what was low, or anything.

LUCKY Just a quick pop in to say i found Bills instructions! And was able to send Frog two pics of His Miaowjesty Ziggy Stardust, our cat! Thanks for yr help x
Returning to GD now! Am convinced I must be burning as many calories falling off the couch laughing as i would out jogging round the park! Not that i ever do that of course hahaha..i wd have heart attack 😀 Thanks again, big hugs ..back later to see what everybody is up to but for now have a date with the somehow and mysteriously very attractive GD x he has a certain je ne sais quoi! -
And maybe I won’t have that sandwich with my soup on holiday now 😉
Child free can be fantastic, can’t it? I tell you that weekend I had for my birthday didn’t half give me a taste for it. Never been like that before, I remember going to London for a Kylie concert, only staying overnight and back and I was sobbing about 2 minutes into the journey at leaving the children. Felt awful. Now? Pfffffffffffft. Whether it’s because they’re older and need me less, I don’t know. I’ll have a decent amount of shopping vouchers in November for Christmas, so I’m toying with the idea of asking Mum if we can do the same again, have 48 hours in a nice B&B somewhere and do our shopping in peace. I don’t ask for much from them… I don’t go out at the weekend or anything, and if I do have something on occasionally, my oldest has been babysitting for me. Hmmm…
I am the craziest cat lady of you all, I’m afraid… you won’t beat me… haha. 20 plus and counting…
-
That’s fab Yowzer, I probably scrolled past them thirty times but I just couldn’t find them lol. I’m watching bloody rugby AGAIN! Second semi final… jeez, I like watching sport and that but… meh.
Yep, don’t know what it is about him, but there is something *nods*. Enjoy and see you later 🙂
-
Yep to both, from what I gather those who have gone before us and done it fast, and consistent, really focused on carbs, I must admit I can never get mine below 45 a day, usually bang on 50, but if I have a couple of days of 50-60 ish my weight loss levels of.
I think it was bill who said he only ate 20 a day, not sure how they do it, and eat normally -
What do you do then lucky do you just follow the book. I just put it all into my fitness pal and it works it all out for me. I like being able to tweak it if I have gone over carbs or cals.
-
20 cats Wowser, that’s epic.
-
I just try and get as close to 800 calories a day, and don’t eat bread, pasta, rice, potates, etc. That’s all I’ve been doing for 7 weeks to be honest! Sticking to the things that were mentioned in the book, and things I’ve picked up via the forum, berries not apples, heck sausage, greek yogurt, chickpea wraps. Eating protein. Nuts. And using a teeny bit of initiative. For example if I’ve made legal muffins, I’ve been eating them. I can tell you how many calories are in them, but no idea whatsoever how many carbs, each one could have 70g in for all I know!
Not real cats though lol, my Japanese waving ones 🙂
-
I’m going to have to bite the bullet and start tracking electronically, just doing the calories isn’t going to cut it soon. I could be hindering my weight loss here, ok, I know I’ve had a good loss, but it could be even better!
-
Give it a go, I have lost 25.5 lbs in 30 days my sister who was just following the recipes, has the same amount of weight to loose lost roughly half of what I lost a week. I think it’s probably harder counting carbs as well as its a lot more strict. I know the no carb Bircher for example actually has something like 36 carbs in it. My sister on average was having about 25 % more cals and carbs than me, but it’s worth it as it educates you so you can think beyond the plan, and you get the excellent results.
Love jan -
JOTF Alert!!!!! After mentioning the jeans on this thread I decided to see how far away I was AND THEY FIT. Me. In size 16 jeans. I am in shock. Also revisited my spare room wardrobe which contains some of my favourite clothes from before the big weight gain and tried some on so tonight I will be wearing size 16 jeans and a turquoise silk shirt that I’ve hardly worn. Have I said how much I love this WOE?
-
OMG Mix how fantastic!!! Jeans of the Present, yayyyyyyyyyyyy! I bet you’re chuffed to bits lovely 🙂
-
Lucky, I use CRON-O-METER to track nutrition which is quite nice and configurable and has some good graphs. You can link things like fitbit and jawbone to it too and I have my Withings linked, for things like pulse and sleep and activity. For UK carbs you have to unhide the net carbs row and do a bit of mental arithmetic to add new foods. I tried MFP but didn’t get on with it.
-
I didn’t understand MFP at first but I think I’ve got the gist of it now. Just laziness in putting the info in lol. Will start tomorrow, can’t even think about it now when my tea is nearly ready 🙂 Starving!
-
Doing the dance for you 👏👏👏👏👏
-
Turnip wedges thumbs up! Yayyyyyy!
-
Turnip is a win??? Interesting
Congrats on the wardrobe triumphs Mixnmatch! It’s fantastic discovering the long lost treasures. I spent a whole TEN pounds on clothes in the charity shops today. A dress, skirt and top. Also found a couple of books I’d been looking out for 👍🏼
Have had a lovely child free weekend so far. Currently in the garden eating Spanish sausage (ooh er), cheese and olives. I’ll be over in calories today but so far the carbs aren’t too bad (not that I’m counting). And another walk is on the cards later too! By the way Lucky, my OH reckons you attach your Wishbone to a child or pet to get the steps up.. The cynic! He now wants to jump on the Up bandwagon tho…
-
My homegrown yoghurt definitely has a SMA undertone 🤔
-
Turnip for the books yaaayyyy😂😂😂
Great, will do them next Lucky 👏🏻👏🏻
Yay for new clothes and rediscovered clothes. I’m currently wearing skinny jeans..not overly skinny in them to be honest but the waist fits fine👏👏😝
-
SMA Undertone! Bwahahahahahaha. More Aptamil than Actimel, then?
Yes! Hubby decided turnip wedges were a very worthy potato/sp wedge replacement! You do have to boil them for about half an hour first and then bake them a while. But, they are nicely textured, firm but soft. I sprayed them with olive oil and shook some Nando’s salt over them. We reckon that they would also make decent roast ‘poturnos’. Was nice having something to dip in! Actually felt like I shouldn’t be eating them? He was so impressed he dried the dishes for me.
Oh sod off with your bloody walk, I’ve just had to take a double dose of codeine here!!!! :-p I have to say, that thought had never crossed my mind, but I have pretty bone idle kids who are screen-glued 93% of the time, so it would be counterproductive. I get more steps myself in a day than they probably do in a week. And I don’t have pets. Poop, remember? Poop?
Chinese curry was amazing. Emoji with heart eyes here < > if I was on iPad. I’m not. So…
-
Yes definitely Eps! The one I used wasn’t too big, about tennis ball sized, maybe a teeny bit bigger. Sliced it in half and then each half into four wedges, and that was more than enough each. You could do them thinner if you wanted more, but watch your fingers lol. I tasted one before I took a mouthful of my curry, and although I had spiced them in case of an offensive taste, there didn’t seem to be a strong taste on them. I’m looking forward to some roasties next time I have a dinner now! And I might even try those chickpea flour yorkshire puddings too that were found aaaaaaaaaaaaaages back now. So many ideas on this thread that I’ve forgotten about! Going to have to go back and look through, take me years! Luckily if i like the look of something, I shove a favourite star on it in Firefox.
Well done on the skinny jeans! We’re having a good day everyone! 😀
-
Remind me someone, where was the pumpkin bread recipe? I’ve got butternut squash noodles in my fridge needing to be used..

Lovely jubbly MIXNMATCH on yr size 16 jeans! X
LUCKY i use a very simple one called mynetdiary..does all i need..works out the cals, carbs, protein, fat, salt etc each day for me. Each day it tells me off for not eating brekky and states i shdnt be eating so few calories without a nutritionists say so.But i just ignore all that. Its nice and colourful too which appeals to my childish nature!
Oh and LUCKY you shdnt have got me started on Man Down..i am hooked..watched for hours now..but you forgot to warn me i wdnt be able to drink a cup of tea coz every sip i take, something funny happens and i nearly spit it out!
Btw,Do you think Rik and Greg could be related in real life..facially they look similar to me tho v different builds.and they have some similar mannerisms and body language. Anyway i need to get straight back there! Love the little musical interludes too..telly is rubbish on a saturday but i am being entertained wonderfully! But v sad that Rik is no longer with us! RIP. Xx -
JANEYCOUGHDROP! I just spied yr photos! Oh they are adorable! Are they both Siamese? Names and ages? X
-
I am so glad you are enjoying it 🙂 No, I don’t think they were related at all, but I remember the first time I saw Greg in Inbetweeners and I said to my husband ‘Is that Rik Mayall?’ and I had to go on imdb to check lol. Definitely one to have when you’re not holding a drink 🙂 The TV is on but I’m reading a good book, there’s very little I actually watch these days. Did you watch a C4 comedy called Catastrophe? Been on last couple of years. Was an Irish girl and an American guy who had a one night stand and she ended up pregnant? That was another one that was absolutely fan-bloody-tastic.
-
Yowser
Are you watching those on I player or you tube or something had a poke around and only found clips. -
Lucky i have lost the same as my grandson weighs 17 1/2 lbs it feels very difficult to lift. Stayed the same this week, have people staying until next Thursday
-
i am under the impression its the way carbs affect you my understanding and i could be wrong that carbs mess with blood sugar so if a diabetic keep carbs as low as possible as i am just doing it to loose weight i am not too strict on the carbs front i keep carbs under 50g most days if not less so the occasional treat like one of these wraps which compared with every other piece of bread in m and s was low i checked them all yep stood there for ages!!! so as we both just fancied a sandwich one didnt jurt as a treat !!
but i could be wrong i shall check bible anyway is was only a one off and felt it was better than bread !!! -
JAN have you got All4/ 4 on demand? I’ m watching All4 on my ipad. Watched the whole Man Down first series since last night!
I hopw you can get it,coz its very funny,am sure ive used a ton of calories shaking with laughter! X -
Is that an app
-
Yeh ! Sorry i shd have said app x
-
lucky when you fill my fitness pal in and you press box that says complete diary above it on mine is nutrtion box if i click on that it works out all the carbs fat etc i have eaten that day !!
-
LUCKY,no i didnt see Catastrophe, coz i tend to listen to radio a lot more than tv these days.
I think the last funny series i watched faithfully was league of Gents! Do you remember that! 😀😀 x
Ps love your poturnos idea 😄😄😄😄 x -
Ahhhh good point Tokyo, we’re doing this for weight loss 🙂 I didn’t think of that. Still probably for the best that I avoid them though, until I’ve lost a lot more weight. I’ve think I’ve mastered the MFP now it’s just the laziness in inputting things lol. Am going to have to make a concerted effort now from this week onwards. Meh… lol
Yowzer, trust me on this one, when you’ve finished Man Down, see if you can get Catastrophe on All 4, you won’t be disappointed 😉 Yes I remember League of Gentlemen… Are you LOCAL, Yowzer? This is a LOCAL thread, for LOCAL people… heehee.
-
😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀 xx
-
Yowzer, I have a one eyed Siamese (the dark one) and a Tonkinese (the cream one) plus a White Peterbald and a moggy. Yes I am mad cat woman!
Lucky, the moment for waking had passed for this evening. We lost track of time and now it seems a faff to go out! Tomorrow is a new day however.. We are off to London for a day out!

No joy with that it put me onto an app for the Koran.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh crap, I’m going to be on that sodding treadmill from sun up to sun down, aren’t I? And enough with all the child-free fun, please???? And stop looking smug.
