I started the 800 on Monday 9th October. I am 27 year old Londoner, working in banking but an emotional eater and despite being sporty weight 17st 12llbs at 5ft 9 and trousers 40 inch waist. My 8 week goal is to hit 16st – which I haven’t seen for about 4 years.

I want to lose weight to improve my fitness for football and squash, my general confidence, fitting into clothes at more shops and also so I don’t feel like I am punching so much above my average with my very in-shape and healthy girlfriend (even thought she says she likes me the way I am). Having suffered with mental health issues in the past I am also hoping getting in shape will help my state of mind in addition to the medication I have been taking which has genuinely changed my life.

What are your motivators? Good luck guys and check in regularly! What I’d really like is a whatsapp support group where we can keep each other on track!! Post your MyFitness Pal ID if you want to share food diaries!

I was motivated by a picture of me in France at my slimmest in 2011. Every time I looked at it, I stayed on the wagon for that 1st 8 weeks! I thought – that’s what I want to be! Looking like that and feeling as healthy as I did then.

Hi MichaelT. I am starting my 4th week on the BSD. I have lost 5kgs in the first 3 weeks! That’s almost a stone. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hopefully this week I can log back on and say I kicked the stone. I want to lose weight to regain control over my BGL (being diabetic) and to be able to wear the style of clothes I like and to simply have more choice when buying clothes. It would be nice to feel attractive too. I plan to go to Italy in the next 18 months and I would like my Italy photos to be slim ones not fat ones. ๐Ÿ˜€

    Good luck!

I just reached a breaking point. Constantly uncomfortable, constantly exhausted, constantly beset with a million little illnesses, not to mention the prospect of T2 looming very large and very close on the horizon. I started by cutting out the carbs (sugar, grains, cereals, potatoes) and lost probably around 20 pounds in 6 months. Then I gave the BSD a try. Next thing you know, a year had passed and 180 pounds more were gone. I’ve never felt better in my life. I didn’t have this much energy and stamina even when I was a normal weight in high school. That’s all the motivation I need to eat like this forever.

I was diagnosed with T2 and my doctor suggested I try this before I went on medication. I lost 3 stone in 8 weeks and dropped my blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure to well within normal ranges. Despite still being obese, I felt better than I had in years. losing the weight was nice but the way I felt was a thousand times better.

I lost sight over that in the summer and started eating carbs. I gained half the weight back and really noticed how bad I felt. It made me realise how much better I feel when I’m on diet – both mentally and physically. I was bouncing out of bed in the morning (well almost), I wasn’t needing to nap in the afternoon, a lot of the aches and pains were gone. And when the benefits started to be lost, I knew I had to get back and try BSD for the second time.

It was a little harder getting into the flow this time but I’m 4 weeks in and am half a stone from being the weight I was at the end of the last BSD. I won’t be stopping the BSD this time and will just keep on with the occasional rest days (e.g. Xmas) until I get to a size 12/14.

One of the things I’m looking forward to is being able to buy cheap clothes – being large means specialist shops or online which costs a lot. However, I can nearly fit it Primark – yay!! Also one thing I noticed is that I can take more clothes on holiday because I don’t have as much fabric to pack!

Hi! Good to read your post! I’m 47 and a single parent to a 12 year old boy. I work from home and although I quit smoking three or four years ago in an effort to be healthier I have put on about 15kg! Never had so little energy before and mood is very up and down. I can see the way this is going, another kilo or so goes on every couple of months and I feel stuck in spiral of increasingly low energy and increasingly sedentary lifestyle.
Want to prolong my life, and get the power back to be more active with son and enjoy life more. I’m hoping this way of eating with help stabilise my mood and maybe boost my confidence. Be good to go on holiday and not be ashamed to wear a bikini too!
Day 2 so just taking it one day at a time. Thinking if I can quit smoking I can do this! Good luck to you all.

It’s not my original reason for dietary changes, but seeing as it’s only a slight adjustment on top of what I already need to do for mental health reasons (increase protein significantly and cut out carbs): I would like to lose weight so that I can look good in beautiful clothes, rather than looking like piggy dressed up as twiggy.

I’d hit rock bottom and felt desperately fed up and unhappy as well as just generally unwell. I’d seen MMs programme earlier in the year and it planted the seed. So as I was looking for reasons to explain the way I felt and the physical symptoms of things, I came across this website and the forums with all the wonderful people giving support and sharing honest experiences. I finally felt I’d come home and I hung on for dear life! Still am! I have a long way to go but this is it, it’s the answer! I also have about 6 winter coats of varying sizes, none of which fit, and I’m blowed if I’m going to buy another winter coat! ๐Ÿ™‚

Loved reading these guys. Everyone has a different reason for starting and a different breaking point.

Happy to say that 2 weeks in 16llbs down. I am astounded and the speed of the loss is so motivating.

Iโ€™ve also been really enjoying the food – courgetti Bolognaese has been a revelation!
