Doing Optifast VLC diet (supervise by GP)

    We (husband as well) are in week seven tomorrow using Optifast (not real food) and have come late to the party here. I am not sure we would have manag ed on Dr Mosley’s excellent real food plan, but we’ll be using the recipes once we’ve got past week eight to keep going.
    Is any one else using the Optifast method?
    Regardless of how you’re doing it, interested to know about ‘plateauing’ – having lost 20kg in first five and a bit weeks I seem to have stopped, even going back by 100gms a day. Hubby ditto.
    We’re not cheating, and actually finding it difficult some days to eat everything we’re supposed to.
    Has anyone else experience this?

    Wow, 20kg in 6 weeks, that is over 3 stone, or is that between you. Anyhow, plateauing is normal, your body needs to recalculate what is going on and just needs a bit of time to catch up with your regime. Don’t reject the diet, it will kick in again if you stick with it. Maybe if you are struggling to eat enough, have some good fats like an avocado or some nuts. Keep on keeping on…….

    Yes before this week I had lost 20kg on the Optifast diet, 4 kg before. Hubby has lost 10.5 kg in he first five weeks, his desired weight loss is exactly half mine so he’s doing just as well as me.
    I am grateful for the encouragement, today is the fourth in a row going backwards 🤔. It is a bit depressing since we hoped to hit six weeks – today – on a high. Of course it would be if we had got to this weight anyway, but backwards for four days is depressing.
    Oddly enough we did have avocados twice this week. We couldn’t see they were in the banned list so thought we’d try them.
    So, of course, we’ll plod on. We committed to eight weeks on the Optifast regime, hopefully it will be back to losing again soon ….
    (How can you NOT lose weight with only 800 calories a day?)
