There are lots of wonderful stories here about blood sugars coming down, hb1ac tests coming up as normal. Are there any people that have been unsuccessful?

I’m finishing week 6 and I have lost 10% and my sugars are down also but my fasting bloods are still too high and I am starting to worry.

Am I the only one? And where to if it’s not reversed?

Is it definitely type 2? I read something the other day about someone that had been diagnosed as type 2, but was actually late onset type one.
Might even have been MM’s BSD book – not sure

    Here’s an article – http://www.diabetesforecast.org/2015/sep-oct/diagnosing-type-1-in-adults.html?

Please note, I have no specialist knowledge – but it might be something to consider

in the book it does say that the success rate is great but not 100%, and those who don’t reverse are usually people who have been type 2 for a long time prior to using BSD.

My opinion for you for what it’s worth is that this is working for you. It might not cure you 100% but from what you have said it will still have helped to make your type 2 more manageable, and minimised any risks you have because of it.

Are you overweight or approaching a healthy weight? If you are still overweight I would say to continue and see what happens as you lose more weight. If you are nearing or already at a healthy weight and turn out to not be cured of your type 2, I would still stick with the BSD way of life as it will help to control your type 2 better than going back to carbs. So to answer your question as to where to go? here, stay here.

Fasting bloods can also be tricksy. I think it was Bill who said he doesn’t care about them as they can go up and down due to the dawn phenomenon. He goes by his other BS readings through the day – apologies if my memory is crap and it wasn’t Bill.

Thank you for your responses. Had gestational diabetes when pregnant which often a precursor to type 2 so probably. I do have the book, may be time for a reread.

Not really lng term has only been 3-4 years. Unfortunately yes, still overweight so might take a bit longer.

Thanks fir the encouragement, think feeling a bit down and unmotivated at this point. Will try to re psych myself.

worth re-reading the book for sure, it is hard when we don’t get the results that many others get but I think it’s worth trying to find some acceptance.

I don’t have BS issues but I also had gestational diabetes and I know I’m high risk. I suspect my insulin levels have been heightening over the last few years – well the last 24 years to be precise as I know looking back I had symptoms of polycystic ovaries for that long which is connected to high insulin.

I seem to lose weight relatively slowly, even on BSD. I’ve lost less than 1/2 stone over the last month but the word acceptance is important.

I have accepted that if I stick to BSD I have lost the maximum weight possible in a healthy way in any one week for MY body.

I have accepted that every day I reduce my risk of becoming type 2 (but I understand the risk will never be zero)

I have accepted that this way of eating is (in the absence of other research) probably the best way to maximise my own health.

I have accepted that if I do become type 2, that this will minimise my symptoms as much as possible for MY body.

Syb – there is a thread called rising fasting blood sugar levels (or similar name) which will be helpful to you. Don’t despair – many found it took a while to get success but did get there in the end. Fasting levels are the last to get sorted even though rest of the time readings are good. If B S levels the rest of the time are good then that’s a huge success !
